I've been wanting to record with the synth vocal texture that they blend with Wendy Smith's voice. Is that texture on the album the Fairlight? Does the Arturia plugin have that vocal synth setting?
Thanks - I’m thinking of doing Appetite next. The synth voices on the album where all originally done on Thomas Dolby’s Fairlight - the Arturia CMI V has the same presets....
Does anyone know what synth is producing that string sound in the chorus to "Appetite" and the chorus to "When The Angels"?? (The sound in the latter takes on a bit more of a flute-y tone, but the sound is panned to the left side in both examples). Really love the emotional, swirling effect. I know Thomas Dolby used the Fairlight synth on the Steve McQueen record. But I can't seem to find this repeated note, swirling sound anywhere. Paddy McAloon has said that Thomas Dolby also had a PPG Wave synth, but on youtube I'm not hearing anything like the sample sound in those examples I was listing. Any help is appreciated!
The one in Appetite is a sort of repeating run motif on a likely Fairlight String sound ( it has that lo-fi sound of the library ) I would assume and the one in Appetite is a similar type of motif but could be anything. TD also used a PPG Waveterm at times which was also a sort of sampler but I cant remember if it was mentioned for this album.
The Best of that song is the strat tone...

@@SugarMind99 That Arturia CMI Fairlight vst plugin has the "Sarrar" setting, which is definitely the intro sound!
