@@scotttbarnes dude your beard looks awesome I'm also blond but my beard have a lighter shade, that combine with bald spots, Hopefully it will come with age I'm only 22. Edit; I just realised this is a 3 year-old comment lol
There is a mad stereotype out there that blondes can’t grow beards, makes sense a little considering it’s lighter therefore harder to fill in but.. once they do fill in they become the envy of even the darkest of beards ;)
Jacob Williams id have to agree surely the best beard related videos out there! started on my own beard journey and persevering thanks to you scott! love from India.
Every time I consider shaving my beard, I come back and watch this video. You're quite an inspiration, Scott. Just a little over two months into my beard now. I'm aiming to grow it till Christmas. :)
Watching this video made me start my beard journey nearly 1 year ago (Oct 15) and I started with a patchy beard. Now nearly 11 months later I have what many call the epic beard / mustache so all it takes is time and patience. I highly recommend at least a yearly trim as a good trim can make it look more full (lost about 1/2-3/4" in my trim and now sit at a little under 7")
this is by far my favorite beard video. I've watched it so many times, it just keeps me motivated whenever I decide to grow the beard out. Good work Scott
I watched this video again and again and again to keep my self motivated. Thanks for doing this video. I'm going through my ockward stage, month 1. Many times thought came of getting rid of it but watching your video i decide to hang on to it. Thanks again.
I've had my beard for about 7 years but have never watched any videos/tutorials. Not only was this video extremely helpful, but your whole demeanor was awesome. I'd watch a video about you explaining different types of carpets. Right on! This is how a video is done.
I am so happy I just found your channel! I have a tri-coloured beard with a blond moustache as well so I know exactly what you’re talking about. Mine definitely doesn’t looks as wide as yours though, so it grows over the lip super easily and looks super weird, I tried growing it I’ve my lips too but I keep getting comments from my friends and my barber that I should trim it. Today I was so fed up that I gave in when he asked to clean it up. Now I’m realising it was a mistake. Probably cut of 1 month worth of growth and awkward stages and now I realise he could have cut it differently for the transition period. Maybe I’m just not the person to rock this style even tho I love it on other guys. Definitely excited to try it your way now!
I was genuinely happy watching your progress. Not only did it make me feel better about the possibility of my beard filling in, it also encouraged me to persevere beyond my initial goal of 3-4 months of growth to 6 months and beyond. I'm a little over a month in, now - hoping for the best. I have a weird space on each side of my goatee connectors that are a little under an inch wide. I'm not expecting them to fill in - just the jawline, hair on the side of my face, and goatee connectors. If I can achieve half of what you have, even with the spaces, that would be awesome. Thanks for the video.
great video man I'm going through that awkward stage right now and was highly debating on shaving it off but after watching this you've inspired me to stick with it and keep going!
The best thing to do when growing a beard and dealing with the neck line is to simply keep shaving the neck but lower the line as your beard grows, that's what I did and it turned out pretty well
Hey Scott, this was, as you phrased it,..."a kick ass video." It was timely for me to see this because I started my beard growing journey in October and also used no shave November as the impetus to let the beard grow. Though I have watched many beard growing and grooming vids, the mere fact that you chronicled your journey in one vid was awesome. It reinforced the importance of...PATIENCE!!!! Thanks for sharing your journey as it has strengthened my resolve to remain patient and let it grow. Cheers!
Yeah I'm 44 years old blonde I've been growing my beard for 9 months now and yeah I don't grow any hair on my neck. The front of my face gets covered pretty well. One side of my face is lighter than my other side of my face with hair. I'm going to try three more months to the year. Keep on growing boys🐗
Yes ... If I had seen the end result before I watched the video, I would not have bothered. The "full" look makes you look like an animal than needs a heavy duty jaw to chew rough foliage - the "tankard" look - big jaw and small (looking) cranium! I am 4 months in, and have trimmed my beard shorter and shorter as it has thickens up - not contemplating going down from 3/8" to 1/4"... even thinking about trimming it more than once a week.
Well done, mate. I'm 55 and haven't grown a beard for about twenty years. I keep mine short and cheeks trimmed but may consider going long. Cheers from the Blue Mountains, Australia.
Nice testimony! Started letting my beard grow one month ago on a whim and grew fond of it in the process. If you are a man, grow a beard once in your lifetime!
Man, I love how honest you are with your style goal. Thanks for an awesome video, it has really given me a sense of how much a beard changes over several months and to stick with it. Thanks again!
doesnt matter.. there's all different patterns .. look at david bechams beard.. he doesn't have any connection there either.. its a very typical pattern of growth
This is the best "How to grow a beard and mustache video" I've seen, why? because this dude took the time to take us through his actual experience over a period of months! #BeardGang #TooTooStrong
Glad to know it takes more than a month to grow a full beard. I get told by coworkers who can grow a full beard in a week that I am extremely slow. I am at month 3 and made the mistake of trimming my mustache a couple weeks ago. I am afraid to trim right now and have not use product yet. I am definitely slower than you and still have a few patches to cover.
I just decided to grow out a beard and was perusing how to....your demonstration took a lot of time effort and commitment.... I'm just a bout a month in.... gonna stick it out till the end of the year. Thanks brotha!
Alickz Rider its all genetics, there is nothing you can do to speed it up or fill it in. it's all in your blood that your mammy and pappy gave you. also as you get older your beard will grow differently and by that I mean in your 30's it will fill out more in your 40's even more than your 30's and so on. patience is the key. good luck
shaving will do nothing to increase your hair growth. its all genetics nothing you can do to change that. it's a myth to think that shaving every day will make a difference. growing facial hair takes time and patience.
Wow! This is the first time I've ever seen a video like this, from start to finish, explaining all your troubles and how you overcame them. I've had trouble with so many of the same things but was scared to continue with it, but this has definitely given me the inspiration to stick it out for the long run. Thank you!
+Keith Russell Don't worry about growing one now. It'll just look like a trailer trash stache or a pencil on. When you get to 20 then you can try harder because that's when your hormones start to settle down.

Duuudddeee... Thank you! I've been looking for someone with the exact same color/growth pattern as me! When you first made this video, I was old enough to drink but grew facial hair like a child. Now I've started trying to grow a beard for the first time in 5 years, and it's starting off pretty well. Again, your color and growth are almost identical to mine, so I appreciate FINALLY finding someone with a video like this! Thanks, dude!!
i love this video! Have watched it so many times. I'm 42 in 2 days time and have been growing my face out since 1 jan 2016 so only 2 and a half months in, i am loving my journey, can't see it ending, if it wasn't for you it may never have started, thank you so much scott, like to call you a friend :)
Cody Ruffels I read this before watching, I guess im extremely lucky. His 3 month is my 1 month. His 6 month is my 2.5 almost 3 month (where im at now). My moustache doesn't grow anywhere near as fast as his though. I have good Beard genetics from my grandfather though.
Great video! I'm growing out my beard for the first time ever. I'm only 19 so I don't really have too much. It's been a month and a half and I was thinking of trimming it, but you taught me to keep growing it and find my own style. Thanks for all the tips and help!
Loved this vide, this was actually a really great idea. Nice job with the consistent monthly updates and I liked how you gave a legitimate update of how you were feeling and how it was coming along instead of just showing it.
Great Video am 2 weeks in to growing my first ever beard and am at the stage were it looks spikey and people think am just to lazy to shave. I'll definitely be watching this video again when I get to my hard days for a motivational boost.
Okay, about the neck thing... Sure it looks more thick if you're standing in front of someone and looking at them while being completely static. But as soon as you move your head, they see this atrocious neck hair. Fat people use this tactic to hide wrinkles/double chin... It's just bad. It doesn't work. Always respect the REAL neck line.
Just stumbled on this older video after only seeing your latest few months ones & really interesting to see how it all began. I’m like you with a weaker part to my under lip/soul patch area. It amazed me that after around 3 years you can’t see any patches anymore😎👍🏻
Thanks for the video man. I happy to see someone show from stet to finish and how you are honest about how you feel about the process. The doubts that you've had along the way and giving motivation to keep growing. Thank man.
The keys to growing a beard is time and genes. You can't change your genes and you can't cheat time. I let mine grow for a solid year before letting the barber do his handy work, and it looks great. Granted I struggled for a year and often trimmed the mustache.
Every time when i have those ruff moments i watch this video, it's amazing motivation to keep it going! At this point i'm on my second month of growing so wish me luck :)
Great video, man. It's one of the few I've come across that have the growth from Point A to Point B, and not a time-lapse. Hearing people's experiences with growing out the beard, and the downsides that come with it (like eating mustache), is awesome. Beard on!
dude, I have watched this video a few times now, so I decided to ask you: I have 20 years old and I can barely grow a beard and also I have a lot of space on my face which doesnt even grow a beard. Is there any way to accelerate the process (or make it easier) of having a "full beard"? By full beard I mean the ammount of facial hair in my face not the length.
When I was 20 I had some gaps as well. But starting of with a good base like a good mustache and a good chin line beard. It took me till I was 27 to get were I'm at but everyone is differ t. Happy growing!!!
same here , I've watched this like 3 times to see if my growth kinda matched up. like an idiot I forgot to write down when I started, I think I'm on month 3/4 haha who knows .
I have been shaving like day yes and then 2 days without shaving and then shave again, to see if i grow more hair. I have shaved in the areas with no hair(the white/yellow facial hair) to see if it turns black, and its kind of working out: those blank areas are mainly my cheecks, cheeck bones and off course my jaw bones have way less facial hair then my chin and moustache, which also have little facial hair. right now, I have a week big of facial hair and I'll let it one month to see hwo much it grows(to compare to before) and then I'll shave all my face again. When I first shaved my totally blank areas(with the yellow hairs) (the first few times) it kind of burned me but I saw all the yellow hairs getting out (had to use a certain angle where the sun hit my face, otherwise couldnt see them being cut or at all) and now wwhen I shave there it doesnt burn me that much. I'm 20, I think when I'm 23 I will have a lot of beard(because of dad photos) but until then I'll try to shave as much as I can to see if I don't get stuck with any blank spots. Don't know why I did such an explanation, it might help you, I don't know xD
+Always IMO I bet you probably have already seen this on youtube, but I ran into people using that minoxidil stuff. if you haven't already go check out the " spanish beard " channel on UA-cam. I've even tried it and it works. look up before and after minoxidil pictures too. trust me I kinda know what your going thru because I'm 23 and the hair on the side of my face was more or less thin rather than patchy.
Great video. I'm on month seven now and the beard is about 5" in length and looking full. Love the tips about the 'tache, I''ve just been trimming mine each day, but will start grooming now. I have been through all the resentment from family and friends, but just stick with it guys. Love my beard.....
N Busse Sometimes that happens. Make sure when growing out put some celling fan wax in there and should take care of the problem. The first time I grew my mustache out it got stuck in the toaster!!!
+Trevor Thompson Don't worry. I can't grow a beard either. The only thing I got is my mustache and goatee, which grow a lot. Therefore I decided to get on the journey to get my handlebar mustache. You have to work with what you have. Don't get dissapointed.
This video always helps me get through the urge to cut my beard off .....I'm 2 months down...hopefully 3 or 4 more months will get the job done! Great video btw man!
Great vid man i'm bearding now! I haven't reached my first month yet. About three weeks in going through awkward stage but it is coming in! Thanks for all the encouragement cause I would have already shaved if not for the advice to continue. It is a journey of self discovery. I've changed my diet to a healthier one which is great and exercising more. Bearding really does change you..cheers brother....!!!
It is true what you said about this being a kickass video, from start to finish, I'd never seen one like this. So I thank you now and hopefully in six months!
no offence brother u look like santa with that mustache. I love beard style and stuff i got too but to be honest u look way better in the start of the video. usually the Really long beard type is for ugly people who get better when they hide their face characteristics. No offense but its true . I got friends who got a full beard like urs and when girls see them without it they are like Wtf he is ugly as fuck. U are a good looking dude keep ur beard as in the beggining of the vid. Dont get mad at me its just my opinion
+Ca- Blaze No offense but it's wrong. Of course girls thought they suddenly looked ugly because they compared it to when they had a beard. This guy's beard looks great (I'd shorten the stache a bit though). Watch the video backwards and notice how he loses badassness and charisma. That pretty much speaks for itself.
Great video man and you've got a great beard. Always good to see more blonde guys out there so definitely keep on growing.

Great video! I'm growing out my beard for the first time ever. I'm only 19 so I don't really have too much. It's been a month and a half and I was thinking of trimming it, but you taught me to keep growing it and find my own style. Thanks for all the tips and help!
fuck, my dad married the wrong person.
TraceguyRune wut? Lol
You mean you have excess hair?
Durlesteanu
No, I get chin hair and side burns. No beard. I'm 25 now. If I don't have a beard by 30, I'm done for.
TraceguyRune use some minoxidil
Loved this vide, this was actually a really great idea. Nice job with the consistent monthly updates and I liked how you gave a legitimate update of how you were feeling and how it was coming along instead of just showing it.
That hairline. Jealous.
NOSfusion bitch you ugly as fuck
NOSfusion my bad I thought you said jesus

It amazed me that after around 3 years you can’t see any patches anymore😎👍🏻
why do i even watch this video, i´m a girl...
Because you like men with beards and it's entertains you.
Miriam Freijd beards are cool.
Miriam Freijd Because you clicked on the video you dumb bitch.
Freight Train & Yasherif Are Gay lovers that's a little uncalled for, calm down
why is this comment thread so aggressive?...
Thanks for the video man. I happy to see someone show from stet to finish and how you are honest about how you feel about the process. The doubts that you've had along the way and giving motivation to keep growing. Thank man.
way to go sir, you motivated me a lot
The keys to growing a beard is time and genes. You can't change your genes and you can't cheat time. I let mine grow for a solid year before letting the barber do his handy work, and it looks great. Granted I struggled for a year and often trimmed the mustache.
u look like Sergio Ramos :D
faimzan21 says the person with a barca profile picture 😂😂
Marin Simeonov more like de gea tbh
Phenomenal. Every month kept getting better an better. A true inspiration.
Love the video but....

Every time when i have those ruff moments i watch this video, it's amazing motivation to keep it going! At this point i'm on my second month of growing so wish me luck :)
I hate you because youre good lookin
Damn! Ok, thank you very much.
same here , I've watched this like 3 times to see if my growth kinda matched up. like an idiot I forgot to write down when I started, I think I'm on month 3/4 haha who knows .
This is the best beard instruction video in the world ever!
How to grow a beard.
Step 1. stop shaving
Step 2....
Step 3. Profit
I've been growing mine out for about 2 months, this is pretty great to see. Can't wait to see what mine will look like in a few more months.
mighty awesome beard...!! can u please tell your age??
+jeffrine savio 30!
Great video. I'm on month seven now and the beard is about 5" in length and looking full. Love the tips about the 'tache, I''ve just been trimming mine each day, but will start grooming now. I have been through all the resentment from family and friends, but just stick with it guys. Love my beard.....
Instructions not clear. Got my moustache stuck in the ceiling fan.
N Busse Sometimes that happens. Make sure when growing out put some celling fan wax in there and should take care of the problem. The first time I grew my mustache out it got stuck in the toaster!!!
scotttbarnes Somehow, I can believe the toaster part of the story hahahah
Cheers mate!
Love your passion for Movember/being a nerd. Beard Baron is awesome!. Keep the great content coming dude! - The B.I.G Company Inc
I'm so mad that I can't grow anything at all
Trevor Thompson Are you sure you can't grow anything? Just try not shaving 2-3 Months, who cares if you look creepy
+Trevor Thompson Don't worry. I can't grow a beard either. The only thing I got is my mustache and goatee, which grow a lot. Therefore I decided to get on the journey to get my handlebar mustache. You have to work with what you have. Don't get dissapointed.
@@adyandrey23andrey try minoxidil 😊
This video always helps me get through the urge to cut my beard off .....I'm 2 months down...hopefully 3 or 4 more months will get the job done! Great video btw man!
Legit video man!
Beard Booze Hey bro, I'm subed to you.

Jamie the Atheist I hear that brother! This is a good one.
Beard Booze Definitely, good info too. ☺☺☺
One of my favorite beard videos on youtube. I always come back to it
shouldn't use a plastic comb. get a wood comb!
Why if you don't mind explaining please thank you
Great vid man i'm bearding now!

Great series sir! I'm on my second month journey, and now using this video as motivation. Thank you!
How to grow a beard:
*Don't shave your beard*
Enjoy your new beard :)
delinquentJACK Isn't that obviously.? lol
delinquentJACK are you fucking serious ?

Revolutionary, I know.
It is true what you said about this being a kickass video, from start to finish, I'd never seen one like this. So I thank you now and hopefully in six months!
I can sum up the title in 2 seconds. Don't shave.
Dude I grew a beard and started a channel in part bc of your beard! Thanks for the beardspiration, brother. Be well!
looks great but i personaly think you should shave your nek tho.
Shoutout to the Beard Baron, best beard channel ever, good products too!! When in doubt grow it out!! Beard on
no offence brother u look like santa with that mustache.
That pretty much speaks for itself.
deisumus
ye i agree i hate the stache its funny. If its short and long to the sides its better
Half the views for this video are probably from me. I'm growing mine out and before I go to sleep I watch it again for inspiration.
