I’m 62. Been rockin the stach since 1977 with the exception of a one time shave off when I went to basic military training in 78. The stach is my trademark. It does get a little wild at times I have to admit. And I do grow a beard once in awhile and definitely do the 5 o’clock shadow most days. You can see it for yourself in my videos. I have had a few guys tell me they want to grow one like mine but are afraid of criticism. I basically tell them to man up and grow a pair.

Started growing my mustache September 1973 @ the age of 19 & I have never shaved it off. I would grow it for a week or two & shave it, since I wasn’t sure if I had enough growth to have a thick mustache. An older man that I worked with convinced me to let it grow for a longer period of time, telling me that the follicles needed to droop down to make it thicken. About two months later I had a great looking Chevron mustache, inspired by Mark Spitz the 1972 Olympian. Later, Turned out looking as thick as Larry Csonka’s mustache. Now @ 65, it’s gray like Greg Berzinsky’s.

Dude, you grow a phenomenal mustache! Your mustache is thicker than mine at 4 months after only 6 weeks. I was so sad when you chopped off that glorious beast. If I could, I'd just rock an epic stache, but the hair is too sparse.
Thanks to you and all the Beardbrand bros, I have managed to make it to the 4 month mark with a full beard.
There's a lot of channels about growing facial hair, but you guys are the best, as well as the first. Keep going. Encouraging men to grow and love what they got is important and you guys are tops!

I know im late to this party on this video, but to anyone who wants a moustache and is too afraid to grow one, just do it. Im 28, I have had a moustache in some form for the better part of the last 10 years, and for the last few years ONLY a moustache because Im a firefighter now. If its the criticism your worried about, first of all just stop worrying because who cares what anyone thinks. But more importantly, the only people in my experience who crack jokes are your friends. (one of my friends does call me Jeff Foxworthy from time to time lol) I dont think I have had even one time where a random stranger criticized my stache. Even if they did I wouldnt care but be you, thats the point.

Same here. that happens to my beard all over my face. There are two things that you can do to fix it. (1) let it grow long enough so it begins to fall over. For me this usually takes 2-3 weeks of a really awkward caveman beard but then it begins to fall over and look neat. the effort is totally worth it, imo. (2) Oil the living shite out of the beard. I'm talking drench your beard in oil before bed everyday for a few months. Within about a month or two mine gets really soft. I use coconut, castor and almond oil, or a ready made beard oil. Hope this helps.

Was fortunate to have a Sam Elliot type mustache that I wore for many years. It required a fair amount of upkeep when I worked the customer service world. In my early 40's, I shaved it off and everyone said I looked ten years younger. I'm now 65 and have been clean shaven ever since. The biggest mistake I see with guys is that they allow the stache to grow beyond the corner of the mouth like the start of a fu manchu. It's not a good look on most guys. And trim to lip line, not above. All the best guys! (FYI, I use Old Money utility balm as aftershave. Great product!)

  • @johntiggleman4686

I've had mine since late 1970 (I'm 72 now). I grew it because one of my father's brothers had one, and I liked the way it looked. I've shaved it off only twice; once for a 1950s party, and in the military, as they weren't allowing them until late 1970. Mine is the classic Chevron, and I trim it exactly like Eric says with a small scissors, nothing past the corner of the lip, and trimmed by the upper lip. I won't grow a beard, as my whiskers are too gray, and I sure am not going to start coloring it now.

Damn right I'm rocking a mustache and of handlebar variety, been doing so for years and I would never dare shave it off. I tried going for a large beard to accompany it in the last year but I found it wasn't letting the stash shine and pop the way I wanted so I went back to a short beard in the holidays. It was an interesting experiment but in the end I am a man of mustache and it so happens my fiancee likes that look better anyway.
