That is the best time for most upland reservoirs. It’s been hot this year and the water temp is a lot higher than normal.

I live on Nolin Lake in KY, a body of water known for slabs. I do decent in the Spring spawn and fall, but no matter what I do, what time I go, what bait I use I can’t land crappie in the summer to save my life. The problem is there is wayyyy too much shad in the water, billions of them, and any fish worth catching has a belly full of them 24x7. Not to mention the water is still extremely hot…mid to high 80’s. This summer is the most fishing I’ve done, (thanks to my new fishing boat that I just got), during the summer than I ever have before in bodies of fresh water. I never fish in the summer for this reason. I can’t catch shit. I don’t know how y’all do it. I really don’t.
I’m from Breckinridge Co. I do real well on Nolin in the summer. You need the Crappie Monster small fry in Margarita color. Fish the stumps in Conalaway.
