Check Go Pro - Home mod for perfect golf ball alignment line and allows use of "any" marker

  • I modified the Check Go Pro by creating a much better marking location that has much better accuracy and precision for marking the circle around the ball exactly in the center everytime. It also allows using any marker so you don't have to buy the low quality pens that the company offers via mail in order.

    I just got a phillip screwdriver really hot and put it through the existing hole to expand it. Now I can just use a sharpie and make my line. No problem and works every time.

    Why not just use a larger size drillbit to open up existing hole or use a fine point Sharpie?

  • @johne4628
    @johne4628 2 роки тому +4

    No need to drill. Use the OTHER end of the Sharpie...yes, the cap comes off and reveals a thinner point which works just fine!

    Great info. It would be great if you showed us a close-up of the modification and explained how you made the hole modification.

    I have the regular Check-Go (not the Pro model). I just used a drill on low speed and bored out the hole. I use the BIC markers and it works great.

    When the blinking light goes off then a point can be placed on the top point with the marker do the same in the middle hole. Now ball is balanced so the ball will roll true when the ball is lined up on the putting line and will not wobble left or right when the ball slows down.

    Why not just use an extremely fine tip sharpie? It is the size of a needle and will fit in the original hole?

    A light will come on in the front on Check Go Pro and go off when the rpms have been reached then continue to hold button and mark the top hole and then front side hole to get the correct alignment.

    an easier way.. just spin the ball.. mark it on the top portion of the device with a dot.. and then flip the ball over and spin again and create the bottom dot.. and then use a line marker tool to create a line between the points you made. These lines are perpindicular to the one from the side but if the intent is to create alignment aidson the ball this works just the same.

    No mod necessary. Some colors of fine point sharpies will work, but not all. The difference is not visible to the naked eye, but turquoise and pink are thin enough to reach through the hole to the ball, while black and fluorescent green are not. Or maybe it's just a manufacturing variance of the ones I tried. Whittling down the sharpie might be easier than modifying the Check Go.

    what about breaking putts? as soon as gravity pulls the ball the line is no longer in line. Better to actually balance the ball than to find the heavy side. Those who can rationally think, ponder it for a minute or two. When they balance tires, they dont just mark the heavy side. They actually add weight to the light side. Finding balance and lining up the heavy side only helps, if at all, on straight putts. Why do they have to spin the ball at 10k to find the balance. What rpm does your ball roll on the green?

    Surely just drill a larger hole to the one that's there already?

  • @Concordeagle

    Good video, but I think you over-engineered it, I just drilled a bigger hole for sharpie to fit, no sticky mess.

  • @sgrgolf1

    just drill out the existing hole

    After finding the 'true roll line' with your spin balancer, did you ever put the same ball into a salt bath to see if it gives a different true roll line?

    • @yamakawa511
      @yamakawa511 8 років тому +1

      +Robert Wilks I don't know about the OP but I test each ball in the salt bath before I use the balancer and reject the balls that are obviously off balance before I start, even then the balancer is able to consistently detect the centroid of the ball.

    • @robertwilks9659
      @robertwilks9659 8 років тому

      +Yamakawa That makes sense. If you set up a tested ball so it won't curve when struck, the out-of-balance will be on the vertical plane aligned with the path. When it rolls it will tend to hop on its way to the hole, and that will slow it down. The more out-of-balance, the more that will be a problem.
      Between curving and hopping, I'd rather it hopped -- but not much! So, I don't use balls that are much out of balance either.

    Every ball will mark different. The logo is not the heavy side.

    • @justpar2012
      @justpar2012 6 років тому +1

      You are correct. I use the Check Go Pro and have never had a ball logo to line up which shows no golf ball company produces a balanced ball.

  • @billyc8121

    I just cant destroy my check-go like this but I do notice the line is off center. Seems a little bit more though in the engineering could have prevented this.

  • @3nCounting
    @3nCounting 2 роки тому

    It has no "issues" other than you don't want to buy their markers. All you needed to do was drill the hole slightly larger so that it accepts Sharpies... some engineer!

    have you tried balancing the ball again after a round? did the COG remain the same? my worry is that after the ball is hit a few times off the tee, the COG will change and will render the line to be false.
    good point by Thomas. there must be a reason why you did not just made the hole bigger so the sharpie would fit?

    • @robertwilks9659
      @robertwilks9659 8 років тому

      +Rommel Brusola You can test that yourself with the salt bath balancing method. (I'm thinking you would like to have a spin balancer, but only if you can depend on the true roll line to remain true after the ball has been struck a few times.) After you've played with a balance-marked ball, test it again by the same method.

    Why modify? Just turn the Check-go Pro upside down and use the bottom to do your line.......

  • @robp.7769
    @robp.7769 9 років тому +4

    Couldn't you just use the crappy check-go marker to make the initial mark and then go over it with your sharpie??

    • @yamakawa511
      @yamakawa511 8 років тому

      +Rob P. The location of the marking hole is off centre for some strange reason. His modification both puts the marking hole in the right place and allows you to use your own Sharpie.
