My issues with StarFox speed ups hacks are that the game physics are tied to framerate..., if they could untie that so we could have smooth 60fps game play with normal speed physics... Now that would make me happy.
And why we need to combat piracy on games that are not available or haven't been available to sell New physically for their original consoles in over 25 years? Nintendo will not profit from that at all...
I'm sooooooooooooo psyched with this!!!! I hope they'd do a new Pilotwings with the SuperFX chip. I LOVED these games growing up, rented them all the time.
@@a.thompson5518 lmao I definitely thought about that after I did it the second time and realized that it was dead silent 😅. I laughed too hard at what you said
While I do think this is pretty cool, I can’t help but feel it would be that much cooler if the Star Fox branding was removed and it was turned into an original game. Something tuned to the FX3 that played similarly to Star Fox, but was also it’s own thing with original characters / lore would have been awesome, IMO. Kandowontu has proven they have what it takes and I’d love to see it.
I don't get how they have the memory for FMV but not enough to add rotations of the monsters. I'd rather have a more complete version of the game vs that FMV and rotations were a huge part of doom.
My thought is that they probably want to keep it like the original just better rather than trying to make it like the PC version so the weird quirks are supposed to stick around.
In a nutshell, the cartridge is split into a 1 MB chunk that the SuperFX can't access, and 3 MB that it can. The FMVs (along with other stuff like sound data, etc.) are on that 1 MB chunk. We do have more ROM space, but we figured we'd put it towards getting all the levels in (where each level could be up to 128 KB) rather than sprite rotations.
this can breathe new life into the SNES. a new zapper would be the next big thing. not a clunky bazooka but a proper light gun with buttons for different uses would be fantastic. the light gun aspect was under used and under developed during the SNES run.
@@bruce_just_ I was aware it's an fpga chip. I just also happen to know there has been an overclocked super fx 2 core around for like 3 years now. Are they just rebranding it as something new? Or did they actually develop something completely new?
@@michaels9917 Thanks for clarifying. I genuinely was not aware of where FXPak Pro firmware updates had progressed over the last few years. Randy seems responsive to questions. Hopefully someone can get a straight answer with respect to LRG and their looong lead times!
For anyone curious you can look around here on UA-cam and see a demo of the new port of doom on the snes and it is running off an fxpak pro currently. So whatever they have made is compatible with it. Just depends on if lrg will allow it to be released. I doubt they will. And according to one of the moddersers who made a level for it we are limited to 20fps for doom. He has gameplay out there. Don't expect miracles is all I'm saying unless they figure something huge out. Remember lrg depends on hyping you to the moon and then gives you a cd-r.
My biggest question is, what exactly is the difference between the chip or emulating the chip compared to simply adjusting clock speed in an emulator or installing a faster clock crystal in your cartridge?
It's funny, a couple of days ago I was playing around on my Exodos build of dos games. Randomly landed on Doom and started playing for a bit. Then I fired up my Xbox and there it was on Gamepass. Then I fired that up and was floored at all the improvements.
There's so much to be excited for with this release, I'm hoping that RUMBLE has somewhat wide compatibility in the sense that we can connect our 8bitdo SF/SN Pro controllers and RUMBLE will still work!
One game I would love to see utilize this so-called super FX 3 is stunt race FX. One of my favorite games that had tons of replay, interesting tract designs just hammered by that god-awful slow down.
I'm intrigued, and I truly enjoy that Limited Run is up to some good... The Retro scene door has been blown wide open in the last few years and I'm excited to know that they cannot kill it💪🏿 Still collecting, still playing...😊
Been thinking about something like this for a long time, but honestly think they should have an rp2050, rp2350 or esp32 coprocessor, or even an stm32h7 etc. And see what people could do with a mprd ridiculous level of coprocessing power
Great video, hopefully exciting times ahead for Snes. My favourite console ever to be honest. Along with Megadrive, great to see both systems getting the love they deserve. 16Bit forever ♥️
I remember i bought a super wild card but bought the Star Fox snes pack as star fox couldnt be coppied at the time. Well thats how i remember it anyway
Bro if your into this older stuff u should give M.U.G.E.N and openBOR a try as an example these dudes took the 1st 4 mortal kombats and redid them adding the combo system and run buttons and added new fatalities and stage fatalities to parts 1 and 2 and you can even play as the bosses and hidden characters even new ones and they even gave them fatalities! This is juz one amazing example of juz one of the many mugen and openbor fan remakes as theres toooo many to list!
Here's a thought. If Limited Run is moving into SNES, that may mean there's no future of physical for new game consoles. Maybe they are going backward. Will we see them making Genesis or Atari games too? Hmmm
Would like to see so.e sega games ported such as virtua racing/fighter.Also outrun snes with a updated dsp chip.Would snap them up If they ever happen.
I like it .. I really like it now. Looking forward to this. BUT... I appreciate the 32x Version of Doom "32x Resurrection" more at this point as it really packs coding enhancements. That was my dream as a child, a 60fps version, well at that time I didn't know what 60 fps was, I just wanted it to be smoother.

Yeah, theyre not truly running at a higher frame rate, just running the game faster. Which makes games like stunt race a real pain.
I mean, StarFox EX will have deltaTiming (else it already does, i first heard and saw prototypes with it a year ago) so stuff won't be FPS tied.
i have MANY good memories in early 90s playing SNES!! those were good times!!! i miss those days!!!

i rather play the orginial then a port of the console / pc versions.
I would buy an official reproduction of earthbound
Not enough copies. This is not an effective way to do anything, but to help scalpers stay in business.

Star Fox on SNES as a kid in the 90s was prob the 1st 3d I ever played untill I played my bro's PS1.
Than it wasn‘t your first anymore? ;-)
But to be honest, Starfox wasn‘t 3D.
@@apri.lwetter That's not being honest, it's lying.
"The original Star Fox (1993) is a forward-scrolling 3D rail shooter," Wikipedia. How is something not your 1st time when in fact it is.

LRG found its golden goose, now they gonna milk it dry and re-release every SFX game ever made for big bucks, well done LRG, the hussle never stops.
I'm curious if the "super fx 3" chip is just the overclocked super fx 2 core that you can use on fxpak pro flashcart.
It’s going to be an FPGA chip. Randy Linden confirmed this under the LRG Twitter/X announcement
