The thought of Owen Hart and Dan Severn playing N64 is something else. Stu Hart probably sitting in his rocking chair in the corner, ready to stretch out whoever finishes last in Mario kart.
For those that may not know, the person playing Mr. Yamaguchi is the brother of Shun, who is the lead commentator for the Japanese language broadcasts of events. He's teamed with Funaki. Yamaguchi-san passed away in 2019 from complications from a stroke.
I apperciate the love for Mr. Wally Yamaguchi in this video. Dude is mainly known for this comedy manager run with Kaientai but in Japan he was the go to guy for western gaijins getting dates and stays figured out with various promotions as well as having a more serious managerial career with the likes of Jinsei Shinzaki. Even stepped into the ring a few times! RIP to an underrated legend.
This is currently my favorite Wrestling Channel! You tell it like it is! A lot of revisionist historians act like WCW died the second Austin won at WM14.
"big news in the school yards" brother, I saw the notification for this upload and immediately was flooded with the memories of the marks in middle school (myself included) talking up the whole Sable/Jacqueline match, and me making a 4 mile trek at 13 years old to the closest Video Outlet and using my lawnmowing money to get a membership and rent this PPV on VHS. Thanks for the spark in memory and all the great videos!
For his sake, probably. Thing is he was the only one with with a legit fighting or wrestling background they brought in who had big personality at that time. Dan Severn, Steve Blackman, Dr. Death etc.. were bland and couldn't get quite over in these controversial times. Shamrock didn't quite fit into the Attitude Era mold, but he was an AWESOME change of pace from the typical Russo shenanigans
That Intercontinental title match has to be one of Triple H's best matches. The interference actually made the bout more entertaining which is rare in my eyes. For some reason it made me sad how Chyna was treated later on in her career.
Note on Jacqueline's slip, they showed that footage again in one of the VHS releases centered around the women. I think Sable was already gone by the time that tape came out because there was a segment on her but she's was not on the cover like the other 6 women who were in it.
I was never that big on this show. The IC title match was great and the main event was an okay way to keep the story going. It still is a bummer that WWE booked LOD and Vader so terribly. These guys were all legends by this point and deserved so much more.
I loved the Shamrock-Hart Dungeon match because Shamrock tried so hard to do his opening pump up at the top of the steps, but you know watching a replay of that event(before Owen's death) Shamrock probably busted out laughing. I applauded the match for despite its limits, Hart-Shamrock truly made the most of it, and i'm with you WB, i hope Bret, Owen, Stu, Kenny, and company were all having drinks and eating Jam sandwiches up stairs after the match
Owen Hart moving Ken Shamrock arm to tap out like if he was in Weekend's At Bernie was one of the most hilarious things i ever seen in a wrestling match
Owen hart vs Ken shamrock in a dungeon match was a lot better then I thought it would be with the very good finish one of my favorite wrestling finishes of all time
It would have been interesting to see Stone Cold and The Undertaker hold on to the tag belts into SummerSlam and see a main event of tag team champions wrestling each other.
@@Lonestarr022 to be fair, the Attitude Era was a time when title switches were specifically done to send the fans home happy (More then than now). Yeah, they didn't need the belts but it progressed the storyline a little bit, feuling tension between Austin and Taker heading into Summerslam, and the fans bought into it.
@@RC99_Productions Nothing wrong with it at all. People say "that shouldn't have happened" about all sorts of things. Listen to the crowds. And also, the fact that New Age Outlaws were on the outskirts the whole time put them over huuuuuuuuuuge. By SummerSlam they were 3 time tag champs, made them sound like the real deal.
The 2 best matches on the card had so many wrestling legends involved in them: Austin, Taker, Mankind, Kane, HHH, and Rock. We were so lucky back than.
Jackie looked so much better than Sable in every way. Sable's chest was so weird looking - one can pointed at you, the other pointed to the Coke machine to the far left. Everyone in the back laughed about how they looked lol.
RIP Owen... A real talent inside the ring... One of the best technical wrestlers in the game 🎯... Most importantly, a legend of the attitude era and more❤
Considering Russo loved JJ and booked him as world champ in WCW, you know then Vince certainly wasn't a fan and would never have any of that. Val on the other hand had a decent run, I thought. Was never gonna be a top guy but was integral to the Attitude Era
I watched this show a lot as a 14 year old. It was part of this box set that included Over the Edge and Unforgiven 98. Sable getting her wabbos out was fun for 10 seconds.
Simon Miller and Bryan Zane of Wrestling With Wregret are having a match in the future. I hope they use a crapton of chinlocks and nerve holds while yelling, "For you, WrestlingBios! For you!"
12:00 For Droz not helping, I'll go with that as a foreshadow of him on trying to turn LOD against each other as this is also the time that Hawk's drug habits got put into the story, (SPOILER ALERT) which in story is revealed to be Droz pushing Hawk into the habit
I was there in the Hart house when this PPV was taking place. Stu was watching the PPV on TV. Bret was making his jam sandwiches upset that the WWF camera crew were in the house. When the match was over Owen and Dan came up and had some jam sandwiches while Bret hooked up the N64. Dan, Owen, Bret and myself played WCW vs. NWO world tour while Shamrock was still passed out in the dungeon. Great times...
Wow, that's interesting. Thanks for sharing. I didn't know Bret was there. I am surprised he was there. Knowing at the time, Bret refreshed from leaving WWE after the Montreal Screwjob had happened. Knowing he was angry I would assume he would want no part of WWE in any capacity. Great story.
Another awesome upload from the wrestling channel with the most jam on the planet. I was a huge mark back in 98. I thought this PPV was awesome back then. Rewatching it via your review brings back so many memories.
Dude the amount of detail you go into with some of these videos. With house show matches and results of some random April in 1991. Great work man..i wouldn’t have the patience. 🫡
Fully Loaded is my favorite ppv name of all time. Fully Loaded 99 is my favorite FL. The story the build up to Taker vs Austin was great in 99. Oh I met Mark Henry today.
The greatest Mid carder of the 90s. Val Venus. I dunno how many times I went into my 6th and 7th grades classes and go up to my teachers and do the waist grind and go "Hello teacher".
Sadly even with the whole Sable/Jackie bikini contest, the one memory I take away from this PPV is that version of Takers entrance he uses for this night! It gets a lot heavier as he goes further into his "ministry" phase, but this version was incredible subtle!
23:00 I remember this being on a WWF VHS tape, cannot remember which one, but my younger brothers and I would keep rewinding it to laugh at Jerry Lawler’s reaction. His look and scream were hilarious, the look isn’t as funny without the scream, I hope Peacock hasn’t removed this. And that Undertaker theme was on WWF the music Volume 3…VHS’s and CD’s…summer after I graduated High School…man, I’m old
Makes me wonder what would have happened with the LOD had they not left WCW for being upset that Hall & Nash were getting more money than they were. Where would the Road Warriors have fared during the nWo run in WCW. Would they have joined the nWo? Would they have feuded with them? Would they have been jobbed out in WCW like they were in the WWF?
1997-1998 were the absolute best time in professional entertainment wrestling. It was overtly incredible. Both WCW and in my personal preference WWF having the most interesting and high profile lower and mid cards. The totality of both shows were just awesome.
24:49 love the theme named Dark Side. Its haunting and really suits the late 98 gothic/ministry Undertaker. They probably prefer those themes because of how different the arrangement was. It was really menacing as well. Not to mention, his previous theme Graveyard Symphony from 1995-98 and his current theme Rest In Peace from 2004 have the same arrangement but with maybe heavier gongs and thunder and lightning effects in Graveyard Symphony.
This is right in the middle of my wrestling watching as a 13-14 year old, i started checking out by Mania X7 and by Mania 19 i was watching the Stone Cold match but don't recall ever seeing or hearing about Lesnar. After that i didn't watch any Wrestling until about 2 years ago.

Killing In The Name by way of D-Generation X has restored my will to live. Thank you Wrestling Bios man

Owen vs Ken in the Hart dungeon was awesome but the lion den match was even better.
The "Dungeon" match was better than I expected. They made it work with very little they had.

The rage against the machine/DX mashup works so damn well!
Right although two different singers they sound the same great intergretion

Val Venis vs Jeff Jarrett, Owen Hart vs Ken Shamrock, The Undertaker and Austin vs Kane and Mankind was the highlights of the show.
Honestly the bikini contest is synonymous with the PPV
As a huge Rush fan, I humbly nominate Tennessee "Geddy" Lee. ❤
Man 2 Cold Scorpio theme gets me every time 😂
Owen Hart moving Ken Shamrock arm to tap out like if he was in Weekend's At Bernie was one of the most hilarious things i ever seen in a wrestling match

The best thing about the lod at this time was sunny
Owen hart vs Ken shamrock in a dungeon match was a lot better then I thought it would be with the very good finish one of my favorite wrestling finishes of all time
