I have a 1995 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 3.9L V6 (same idle air control valve and throttle body as in the video). The repair shop (if you can truly call it that) I brought it to could not figure out why my truck had a rough idle. They had the truck for 2 weeks. After researching the problem on the internet, I did what seemed to make sense, replace the idle air control valve. No more rough idle. I appreciate the video, as it helped walk me through the steps. I am handy with tools, but no mechanic. The video also showed me that there was an air filter mounting gasket missing, but not any more!
Installed my part today. Thanks for the thorough tutorial. Way to bring value to people!
I'm amazed at the improvement in the exhaust fumes, before the pcv valve replacement the fumes and smoke from the pipes were awful but after replacement basically no fumes or smoke it works amazing.
Videos very helpful my brother was about to spend $500 to take his truck to a shop this fixed it for $40

People…keep in mind that your idle air control valve just might need to be cleaned. Sometimes it just gets clogged with dirt and grease.

Your Videos are great. It would be fantastic if you would include some diagnostic info. For example, I know that low idle can be a reason this part needs replaced. However, I'm having High idle especially when cold, until the engine warms up, even then it's still idling high.

So I have a 98 dodge ram 1500 with 282K miles. When it idles it randomly revs up to 2K RPM. On the highway driving it will surge a few hundred RPMs and last week for the first time I was approaching a stop light and it just kinda sputtered and died out of nowhere. It hasn't done it again since then but it's strange. What do you think it could be?
I have a 2000 Dodge ram 1500 V8 5.2 can I just simply replace the idle air control valve and that's it nothing needs to be recalibrated or anything like that?
I need to replace it because my truck shuts off while I drive everything else is on like the radio and everything just the engine shuts off it happens mainly when it's really hot outside so I think my idol air control valve is going bad because the RPMs go up and down and it's not steady.
What were the symptoms of the truck how did it run before you replaced the IAC valve?

This was such an informative video. I fixed this part on my truck, and it runs in idle so well! Now I have to figure out why it sputters when I’m driving sometimes and how to fix the ABS and Brake Light being on.
That's most likely your rear differential speed sensor needs replaced. Cheap and easy fix (imo)
Me 2 changed the speed sensor didn’t fix it
Ur brake booster is out..thats what cause the IAC to fault once fixed its still sputtering because the vaccuum in the booster ..booster has failed
@@mattlambert8989 i replace my rear differential speed sensor and the abs and brake came on again so i found out was a faulty brake sensor switch its located under the steering wheel and problem solved
@@angelmarquez6770 you have a faulty brake sensor switch its located under the steering wheel that was causing my abs and brake light ,i replaced and its fix now,good luck.

4. Sea foam in gas tank

Did you have code P0505? Idle Air Control System? That's what I have rn
Replaced mine and started it up seemed to be running good tapped the throttle and it red lined and got stuck. Shortly after I got throttle back to idle I started to hear clicking sound from passenger side so I pulled out the spark plugs and cylinder 8 had pieces of metal inside cylinder and electrode off plug is gone. Got a video for that?

Everyone loves my truck but and it runs like when I got it in 1995 , it’s had work on it but recently it’s runs good but it start getting like it’s gasping for air. During the summer had a total tune up,oil change,brain ,ect

I followed the IAC video and my truck still seems to me stalling out at red lights/4 way stops. Is there some way I should adjust something? Or would you recommend something else? Thanks for your time!
Try the ERV Valve. 1A Auto has a video on it also. I replaced mine and it fixed my same issue! Only cost me 50 bucks and 5 minutes.
Would the idler air control cause no power as well as boffing goin on?
I replaced my iac valve and had the manifold gasket relpace and my engine is still acting up. Not all the time but sometimes when I start it up it barely idols and if I try to drive it like that it will die when I let off the gas. Other times it will drive like a brand new truck.sometimes I have to turn my truck off and start it 20 times to get it to run right sometimes I just have to drive it like that or just wait. My mechanic said I need to set the iac valve. How do I do that?

Any advice, truck used to never idle , replaced iAC and idles now, however once ran for awhile it don’t wanna idle or when I turn it off then go to turn it back right on, seems like it needs to not be driven for a bit to idle again

I had low idle issues and replaced this now the truck idles high and when i put it in park idles even higher what would be my next thing to do?

Hey I always wanted to Ask this question. Is it ok to use vaseline as lubricant on some parts like this. Because I've been using the Vaseline on certain parts of my old vehicles and it works good. I'm just asking do anybody else ever does it. And what is the best lubricant I can use for parts on a vehicle?
Clear lube for window runs hinges, Vaseline for rubber parts clean oil for gaskets like oil filter

I have a 98 Dodge ram 1500 with 98,000 original miles. Im changing this part today. I have new cap rotor plugs wires both O2 sensors. I've cleaned out the throttle body. When I drive at low speeds it's fine for awhile and bogs out and dies it's a couple of minutes and starts right back up and drives. I cannot drive at high speeds it'll bog out and die above 25 mph. I ran seafoam through it with 93 ultra which I've been putting in it it seems to be better the fuel pump is also new. I have no codes. It is running better after the sea foam.

So same truck. Driving down the road, I hear a hiss went accelerating. Would stop when gas was depressed, then just stopped an it has drank gas. Like 4 miles to the gallon. Any help or ideas

Why was it replaced to begin with?
What if the code still comes up after replacing it? Does it mean I bought a new bad one? I clear the code and instantly the check engine light comes back on but it does seem to be idling a lot better

Y’all replace the rotor cap yet? Sometimes that being off can cause it. Had a tahoe do it. Ran rough af then I adjusted and it was good

So i have a 2nd gen as well and am wondering if anyone in the community can tell me why my dodge dies on a right turn. It does it most the time but sometimes it doesnt. As long as i give it gas it stays alive and once i go straight it stops stalling
I had the same issue on my 1997 ram. In the end, changing out the crankshaft sensor is what made it go away. $15 part at the time.
I've replaced this part ...and its still idles high but now in N . I drove it and parked it and I sat in it and it didn't high idle anymore . Turn the truck off and it high idles again. Now I don't know what to do for it

I just replaced the IAC in my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 van and now it won't start (took it out for a test run right after we replaced it and it was running fine. Wouldn't start this morning) anyone ever encounter this?
Just IAC valve in my 2K Dodge Dakota 4.7/V8. For the life me, I don't know how that dirt and crude got in there.
I have 98 dodge ram 1500 5.9L i just replaced my drum brakes and my front brakes and forgot to take the key out so it died when I jumped it it high reves all the was up to 2300 rpms and wond wind down unless I put it in geer and it will still high rev at 1100 rpms and won't go lower at all and its not throwing any codes any ideas
I had the P0505 code and I'm still having the same problem

Same here cleaned the throttle body, checked the wires, and replaced the IAC. I'm not sure what else I can do.

Your audio when talking is a little low so I have to turn up the volume about 1/2 way. Then that freakin' loud ass audio sound effect blasts the wax right out of my ears!

Got this part installed and for some reason when I start my truck the rpms rev up to 1700 and then go back down to 600. Not sure what I need to do in order to fix it...
Replace the the idle air control sencer on back of your intake
Mine does the same thing, it calms down right after start up tho

You should have shown everyone that you spray the area with carb cleaner, it is important to spray the inside and mounting area clean prior to replacing the valve
