In this video I do another hack of the nintendo e-reader to create custom events, with brand new sprites and new custom locations. I worked very hard to bring the most authentic events yet, so please enjoy!

@@strawzulusansundertalehorr7624 Yes and no. You can get it via trading with FireRed, LeafGreen, or Emerald, but other than that, no. Although, Deoxys *can* be hacked in via save editing to *technically* be legitimate, as long as it's correctly hacked in (correct encounter data, moves, OT's TID/SID, and the IVs associated with said OT's TID/SID with it's PID, etc.)

Aw hell yea god damn thats so cool! You basically take rumors from the past, and just make them real, while also being able to catch them for yourself. Good job bliss! Hope you continue to make more of these rumors and e-reader cards come true. Also this is my new favorite video at best.

To think your breakdown of RNG manipulation was complicated back in the day, this is just a completely different stratosphere that makes RNG manipulation seem simplistic. Are the Johto starter's overworld sprites meant to look like that on purpose? Or was it an accident/glitch that they look miscolored?

This honestly feels incredible, especially the maps from other regions! But, not to discredit your work, it seems like some of the custom sprites you made are having some pallette related issues.
The funny part is the Johto starters aren’t custom. Those are in the game. I’m gonna try and fix it before release

If you can add custom sprites to the game would you be able to add one for a shadow Lugia? (Obviously it would be more work since you can’t cut and paste!), or would, due to the way the game saves this data, you not be able to keep a Shadow Lugia permanently even if there was an event added?
So both the Animal Crossing Community and the Pokemon Community have managed to crack open the mechanics of the e-reader

Can someone please do a written guide for Emerald? I got Mystery Event on Emerald using the injection of the save file, but I cannot get the E card reader to work through emulation. The only cards that work say to insert Ruby or Sapphire :/

When you started to say "I am going to skip all the talk about coding" I got a little sad. That is my favorite part of these videos. Seeing you take ruby and sapphire and do the 'impossible' is so cool, and it's all legit as a bonus.

17:58 Would it be possible to require moving the truck with HM strength? I always had in mind as a kid playing leafgreen you have to move the truck and Mew will appear then. I even tried trading a pokemon with strength/surf to my catridge before the ss anne sets its sails and the area is unreachable, just to be disappointed that there is actually is no Mew :(
I dont know if the truck is an npc or just solid tiles on the map, but I think it would add a little :)
I never hearrd strength was needed so I didn't include it
I absolutely love how you used the flash storage itself to store parts of the payload. Reminds me of how some of the GB game ACE exploits work by corrupting Hall of Fame data or certain box storage to write reusable ACE codes.
There are some unused sprites for the legendary beasts and Celebi leftover from the Firered/Leafgreen beta if you ever think about redoing the events for them. This is so cool. Really, great job on making these events!

Without spoiling things in the comments - and if you're reading this comment and haven't finished the video, DO SO! - does the event you made with the Pokemon under the big mechanical object pass legality checks up to Home if it's caught as a shiny? What region does it show up as? It would be really great if I could shiny hunt that particular Pokemon and not have to rely on getting it in Go...!
It passes all checks, but it only shows up as English(which passes thru bank and home no issue)

It's funny that you go to the Vermillion docks in your event, because in the original FR/LG there's a Lava Cookie in those docks as a hidden item.

Btw has the downloads for this been released yet? I have not seen any shorts mentioning them and the DLC repo hasn't been updated for about 8 months so I'm not sure if it has been released yet or not.

In the game code are Celebi, Entei, Raikou, Suicune and unused Deoxys forms sprites, so I think that would be great.

Was there a reason you didn’t use the Deoxys theme? I’m assuming its cause that theme wasnt in Ruby and if you were able to copy/paste from Emerald it’d take up too much space?

As a shiny hunter and collector of all Pokemon games/media, the one thing that infuriated me about the older games was how, despite being in the code, Pokemon like Mew and Jirachi were always so hard to shiny hunt. One requiring a different language copy (Japanese, to any who aren't aware) and one requiring a bonus DLC disk that costs extreme amounts resold. Being able to have authentic feeling events on unmodded hardware is amazing.
Is there a way to write these encounters onto a save with something like a FlashGBX or is a link cable absolutely necessary? I have a copy of Pokemon Ruby that I play on my DS lite but don't actually own a GBA or link cable.

Deoxys event is so unreasonably cool. As a kid I was obsessed with deoxys. I only had Leafgreen and Silver and had of course, missed all of the events to get it. I would read or watch anything online that gave me a sliver of hope in acquiring it, and eventually came across that moon rumor. I wound up getting sapphire a couple years later and was incredibly disappointed when it wasnt real.

It's neat that the starters are from Emerald, though when I first saw this, I thought they'd be the starters from XD Gale of Darkness, as they have Frenzy Plant/Blast Burn/Hydro Cannon. But regardless you've put in so much work into this and it's amazing you've been able to implement custom maps and sprites! Can't wait for more to come, esp the legendary birbs~! :)
Would it be possible to allow other save files to receive this event through record mixing like the Eon Ticket does?
i have no idea if this is up your alley, but when gold/silver/crystal was new, i head rumors that two starmie guarded the boardwalk in kanto and you had to battle them every time. maybe that's something you could do at some point???😊

This is amazing! Just to ask, do you think it could be possible to make a way to use or create a new Pokemon R&S Box? Or just manipulating more boxes into a game? Or even using a DS similar to how you can use a Gamecube to trade back and forth from GBA games and house Pokémon like in R&S Box? Gen 3 is my favorite. I've been trying to complete my Pokedex. I was 3 away for years and this past week I learned about ACE. Got Mew and Arceus. I'm only missing Celebi. But even after I get it. I'm tired of using multiple games/memory cards to hold all of my Pokémon. NGL can't afford R&S Box. Now I watched your video and it's given me so much hope that a better Box could be created. This just blows my mind that you can create content for games that have been out like this for years. Thank you for doing what you do. Stay passionate!

12:01 i KNEW Nintendo was lying. I remember a proof of concept project proving it possible a few years back, and from what I understand, transferring pokemon from gens 1,2, and 3 with HOME support is currently fully possible and working with simply using the roms for any of those pokemon games in a walled garden (as to not report back to Nintendo.) it was proven almost as soon as the gba emulator hit switch online, using ROM files Nintendo themselves were using in testing. The files were bundled in a testing leak. Even the GameBoyPak usage, with using your pokemon in Pokemon Stadium 1&2 works in the Switch Walled garden experiment. It was almost too easy, like it was fully made with all of that support in mind. Now that Perfect Dark is out for N64, I wonder if they might use the GB Perfect Dark and a testing ground for a public launch on the GBPak compatibility.
Nintendo and The Pokemon Company hate us as consumers. I'm honestly less interested every day in ever giving them any money ever again.
There are decades of games, romhacks, and translations for me to catch up on. I see no reason to keep supporting a company that treats us like dumb children for profit.

I spread rumors about the Deoxys exvent in ruby and sapphire like 20 years ago. I genuinely believed I made it up. Saying you had to wait for the countdown on the rocket tower in Lillycove. Then later I find out it really was an event. Then ORAS happened and I shit myself
