Hey all! Hope you enjoyed the video. Let me know what other gens you want to see? I'm thinking gen 1 or 8 as my next, but I'll figure that out soon enough. I've also got some different content cooking aside from these team builders. I'll run out of gens eventually lol. Anyway, here's my current gen 6 rng playlist: ua-cam.com/video/w4bGvLEIue8/v-deo.html I'll be updating and adding more to it in october.
i remember helping a friend with their VGC 2016 team by trying to get their kyogre and rayquaza. i didn't know about rng manipulation so i just sat down and spent all day every day for a few weeks over the summer soft resetting. i did manage to get the modest 5 IV kyogre after a million years, but i gave up on the rayqauza eventually. if an unemployed high schooler on summer break doesn't have enough time to do it, then i think maybe the system is bad
@@hil449 They could have been in an area where there aren't many events geared towards teenagers. For a first hand account, I'd recommend the following video: "Weird world of Teen Dance Parties" by Scott Cramer.
@@lunamaster123 Things have got so easy in Gen 8, you can: 1. get guaranteed 4 Max IV pokemons via dynamax adventure and raid battles 2. farm Bottle Caps and easily maximize your pokemon's all 6 IVs with just 75 BP (assuming you purchased the DLC) with seriously overpowered Calyrex and Zacian 3. earn lots of Exp. Candies to grind mons faster with Raid Battles (this means it's easier to reach level 100 in gen 8 to apply some caps) 4. hatch eggs with perfect IVs and egg moves easier with easily available box and more accessibilities over generations 5. get mint to easily change a pokemon's nature with just 50 BP Sure, you would just hatch some eggs to get Perfect IV pokemons since it cost less BP and pretty easy to get, but you don't really have to grind full 10~15 Hours just to get Legendaries and Event pokemons with good IVs.
As a middle schooler when XY came out and a high schooler when ORAS dropped, I had almost nothing but time. This was such a pleasant jaunt down memory lane. I would spend entire weeks breeding for perfect Pokemon at the start. I think more complicated Pokemon started taking me like 4 days to get. I was SO passionate about competitive Pokemon back then :) This video was super comforting and chill. Thanks for this man. Gonna sleep thinking about all the fun times I had with my friends with these games
Same, but I was in high school. I almost always lose in battles, though, so I rage quit from competitive and just hoarde pokemon in dream balls. So naturally, SwSh pissed me off because a good chunk of my collection would lose their value if I ported them.
I really envy the generation that grew up with the 3ds games , online functionality, online battles etc.. i spent most of my teenage years with the GBA Pokemon games and yes I loved them but i always played by myself lol, when i moved to DS online functionality was long dead, and now i just don't have the time,
I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to create a legit team with no hacks and the next day a certain Pokémon in your team gets banned or the meta shifts.
Nothing gets sudden bans in VGC. Smogon is another topic, but i think most play it on Showdown nowadays anyways. Meta shift is possible, but breeding as shown in the video, isn't too tedious and the restricted format would always move around Groudon / Rayquaza / Kyogre / Xerneas during OR/AS. Getting those again because you want to tweek their IV's would be very frustrating though.
At that point, that’s a decision you’ve made. There’s 0 skill in acquiring your chosen Pokémon, running in circles, turning the game on and off again. The only thing that requires any skill is getting the old BP items, even then, the battle tower is easy. The skill in team composition is theorycrafting, testing, adjustments, identifying strengths and weaknesses, mastering the modes within the team and finally, knowing all your calcs. THAT is the hard work that takes skill and knowledge. Hatching a million eggs is just dead time. If you’ve chosen to be that guy who neglects that work to focus on eggs, then that’s the consequences of your own decision to focus on the wrong thing
Nothing gets banned unless there's a glitch in VGC, but meta developments or a new regulation... Those are the main frustrations. Especially when you can't get every Pokemon you want to use via the current gen game... Looking at you Cresselia and Heatran, if I ever wanted to use you I'd need to transfer you from an older game
This series is amazing. The depth, execution, and explanations are incredible and I know it is extremely tedious and time consuming so thank you for being as in depth and expository as possible. It makes the whole experience worth watching every second of
I really hope these videos blow up even more, its obvious how much work you put in and they are really well done. Your videos have always been well done and helpful but you've been on another level lately. Thanks for all your help over the years Blis, appreciate you.
I just binged all 3 of these videos, and I have to say that not only are they insanely impressive, but incredibly informative. I like to consider myself someone who knows a lot about Pokemon, but the rng manips and data that goes into getting certain things I had no clue about. Props to you for making these videos, with all the time they take, grinds you have to do, making the video understandable, while also making it super entertaining! Thank you for having the dedication to put into perspective how awful the competitive pokemon teambuilding meta is, but also offering introspection into how the meta exists in the first place. I'd love to see videos covering other teams from other generations, and hopefully there will be a gigantic leap in progress when generation 9 comes out as well.
Oh my gosh! As a casual player whose interested in starting competitive I can barely understand what’s going on but I love the attention to detail and although it looks tedious. It’s fun to watch. I’m gonna dust off my copy of Omega Ruby and see if I can RNG manip myself a perfect IV Groudon
I'm really glad Gen 8 made competitive much more accessible then before in-game. Outright showing in the PC if IVs are perfect or not, Trading watts for luxury balls and then selling them for quick vitamins for quick EVing. Mints changing in-perfect natures to ones used in competitive and Gen 7's Hyper Training coming back, ability capsules and the ability patches (though it costs a lot to get these). I hope SV can be like Gen 8 when it comes to building teams in-game. The vitamin stuff was really good but only possible because of raid re-loading. I hope Gen 9 has an easy enough equivalent to it that's intended this time(?).
honestly i think Gen 9 should simply allow us to straight up edit our stats within the games limits in the online setting before loading into a match and save those mons as presets. All of this breeding and grinding shit is completely unnecessary and should go
I'm so glad you keep making these, despite the insane amount of effort they take. Very entertaining and they also shed some light on the state of pokemon competitive back then.
I never played competitive pokemon I never did a rng manip I will never do an rng manip I don't understand half what you're saying but I loved those teambuilding videos so much and I looked at the various rng manip videos and they are so cool There is really something wonderful about people who are so good in their craft, you know all those complicated things so well, it's just impressive the knowledge, the practice, the adaptability it's insane please keep em coming it's so cool to watch
I listened to this while drawing. The combination of the Poke-music and detailed gameplay mechanics was a comforting nostalgia trip in the back of my mind.
So here to be able to afford a trip to any big tournaments one needs a full time job, and even then it might take 2 months to afford it without taking into account rent or food. Between cooking my own food, eating, working and sleeping i'd usually have around 3 hours to play pokemon to make a team. At 3 hours a day this would result in over 20 days to get the team without pp up. That's almost a full month using all my free time in preparing a team, hoping that it would work well in the tournament, because you most possibly have no time between finishing the team and going to the big tournament to test your team and much less to correct mistakes or holes in your team if you had any. That shows why in all my time playing vgc while trying to avoid any hacking method I only got 1 decent result, a top 4 in 2016 at a 132 people event, which was not even an official big tournament like nationals or regionals.
This is why I want there to be a Stadium like game so that Pokemon can separate the single player and multiplayer, and also let you build a team in the game like on Showdown instead of doing this.
They could even make the Battle Frontier a tutorial for how to do some of this stuff. Make it more accessible even. Have the first couple of battles be "here take these specialied and highly trained pokemon and battle with them". Have a scripted battles that show hey, these hidden systems can greatly change how much damage you deal/take. Explain that the Everstone doesnt JUST stop evolutions, it does this when you breed an egg! Show that while legendary pokemon are powerful, but they arnt the MOST powerful.
@@BrandonsUsername All information that affects your expression of skill should be player facing, and seeing how significantly IVs impact everything, they should just be deleted from the game design.
tl;dr: Most of what this video shows pretty much does not need to exist anymore. You pretty much have to only worry about breeding moves onto pokemon anymore because natures, abilities, EVs and IVs can now all be manipulated through Items that can be acquired VERY quickly thanks to rental teams. so for a full team probably like 30 hours with NO RNG manip at all
@@trueMCGRaven still way too long, if I wanted to build a team on my long work week, I would have to do nothing but fuck around with my team the entirety of my waking hours for both of my days off. That's one team.

pretty crazy seeing myself in the 'thanks' for this video, loved the streams and love talking with you and the fun chat interactions! I happily await more content
I really love this series, I've been really enjoying grinding out the older games for perfect pokemon and learning rng manips has been really fun for me. Makes me wanna check all the pokemon I got that were most likely hacked and try to get legit ones now.
Another great video! Watching this made me realize how much I miss secret bases and horde training. While EV training in SwSh with vitamins is faster, it doesn't scratch that same gameplay itch that horde battles do. I suppose it is for the best since the PvP aspect of Pokemon ideally shouldn't be gated by time-consuming RPG elements
Glad you enjoyed! I think in reality for competition, they should have a separate sim mode and in-game you can still breed and train for battle tower purposes or something.
Early membership gang. I dont sub to people at all but imablisy is definitely worth the membership for their amazing tutorials and welcoming vibe. Always look forward to their streams
This was a great video, Gen 6 is easily one of the most frustrating games to look back on because they did so much, but could've done so much more if they had simply been given a third version/sequel like every other generation before it. Super Training has a lot of potential when it comes to unveiling the mysteries of EV training, so if they improved its transparency and speed in future games, it could've made for an interesting and engaging alternative to grinding on wild Pokemon. Especially since the Reset bags are easily the fastest way to change a Pokemon's EVs if the Meta happens to shift. That being said, It's impressive that standard breeding is actually faster than RNG Manips and Blissey bases are still easily the best way to grind for EXP in any Pokemon game and it's a damn shame that they didn't come back in BDSP. I love how relaxed you were for the EV Training and breeding making for a great showcase of just how much these small changes improved player experience for these games. I love how the Raichu was fittingly, the most difficult Pokemon to obtain in this run. Combine that with the incredibly unique EV spread and it's not hard to see why this Pokemon upset some people especially since there were multiples of them. It makes for a very visible target even if there is a chance that its natural, the odds of it being genned are so obviously high that it brought the issue to the forefront of the Pokemon community. Doesn't help that gen 6 made some pretty decent strides in availability, (some of which were unfortunately not available for this video) but this was definitely at least 1 gen too early to really start questioning the validity of Pokemon like this. Anti-genning communities like The Silver League have existed since gen 4, but these increases in availability really encouraged a lot more newer players to adopt this mentality.
This was amazing! I would love to see if it is possible at all to try to obtain a somewhat competitive team in gen 3, but I can’t imagine how grueling that can be. Excellent video!
Great video! I stopped playing at Gen 3 and don't take competitive Pokemon seriously at all, but seeing the "What if" videos like this are always a good watch, this one especially!
What I love is that this just covers the actual building of the team. All this time is used just to breed, catch, hatch, train, and further enhance these pokemon, but there's another half missing: the theory crafting. You ought to do a video on the thought process that goes behind crafting these teams. I can't imagine the time it must've taken these players to think up these teams, their specific EV/IV stats, movesets, item choices, who would be a good counter against what and why, etc.
I remember being a fan of "Somebody" that completely convinced me that cheating in pokemon was absolutely immoral and after making my team the whole month I came to realize the team didnt work well
I just started playing Emerald again after a few years and yesterday I wanted to adjust the nature of my starter. No problem with PKHex and RNG manipulator (I don't know what it is called exactly), but after getting the mismatch error, having to adjust the IVs etc. and getting it done, I was amazed that it actually worked and felt like a king. Seeing the rng manipulations that you do is so unbelievably interesting to me because I love stuff like that. Exceptional video quality and your narration is super comforting and easy to understand, even for Pokemon laymen like me. Really appreciate what you do!
I really want to see you do Gen 1 and 2. The mechanics were so different in those two games and from what I've gathered it took forever to grind for max stats. Which you can do for all 5-6 stats between the two games.
Just recently discovered your channel. I always wondered what the real experience of getting in game competitive Pokémon over the years was like! Very curious where they will take this in SV after the accessibility of SS.
man, watching this video takes me back, I remember beating this game and battling online and realizing all my pokemon weren't good enough to compete as I had never properly trained before and I remember looking up guides and tips on how to properly train them, shiny hunt, get egg moves, and what moves we're meta, I know it sounds like a choir but I loved doing it (for the first like 20-30ish pokemon then I hunted a shiny female Mudkip and after getting 13 male ones I got the female it had horrible stats so I bought a powersave and made it much easier lol) but anyways this video just felt so nice to watch especially with the part showing the special delta episode cutscenes those were so awesome, man I love ORAS easily my favorite pokemon games ever
I think your point about breeding being kind of therapeutic in this game compared to previous gens is important to flag up. They did a lot in gen 6 to make the process not only quicker but also *feel* less like a chore, such as horde battles giving you a feeling of really quick progress in EV training, as well as giving you a visualization of your EVs in the super training menu which always gave me a sense of accomplishment back in the day when when the training was done and I saw that chart split up exactly according to my designs
God this vid braught back so many memories! I would get mons and train them for my friends VGC teams because I had the most free time. (We also didn't want to hack) I LIVED in those blissey basses and soft reseting for good legendaries was apart of my schedule for awhile. Hacking is so much easier but tbh I miss those days sometimes.
Fantastic video with every detail anyone could want to know! I was looking forward to you doing Gen. VI because I knew little about Gen. VI until today. Gen. VI was a weird stepping stone in VGC because on one hand, most QoL improvements made things easier and made it possible to get perfect mons without RNG (literal years in Gen. IV vs. 85 hours in Gen. VI). On the other hand, Gen. VI RNG was so much more brutal than Gens. III-V that almost no one bothered back then. When I started prepping for VGC14, I loathed the hexagon requirement because it meant no transfers (so no Gen. V easy RNG). Pre-Bank, breeding was painful (took me 8 hours to get a 5 IV mon). Upon Bank release, I transferred a 6IV Ditto and things became... reasonable. Yeah it still took hours to breed mons, but there was no need for RNG. The only non-breedable mons in VGC14 were the Kanto birds and certain event mons like Ice Punch Tyranitar (which got 2nd at Worlds). That year, all you needed to do was breed and you could have a team. To players like me who were spoiled with Gen. V RNG, it was a downgrade - way longer and no shinies. But to the average player? It was the first year competitive teams were accessible - all you needed to do was breed. VGC15 was my last year before my retirement. Given a combo of frame-perfect timing and the save variable, the consensus on Gen. VI RNG for legendaries was "don't". The public expectation among players was to soft-reset for legendaries, even when it took an average of 85 hours (Nugget Bridge, the hub of VGC then, had a guide basically saying "this will take weeks, you should do it if you want to win"). The private reality is that most players probably hacked. This is especially notable since most of the best mons that year were legendaries. Without RNG, my friend and I settled for 31 in HP/(Sp.) Atk/Speed and 28-31 in defenses. A 1 point sacrifice to cut our average hours to ~10. I even reset my game on a shiny Thundurus because the IVs were wrong! I would quit VGC later that year due to increasing schoolwork and a resignation that I'd never match my performances in Gen. V. Seeing the teams built and the training methods available for VGC16-VGC19, I'm happy I didn't spend those years grinding, but I did miss competing. Gen. VIII has been amazing because of Exp. Candy and Watts. Yeah it takes a while to set up a save file with resources, but once you have them, training is super quick. This is the most accessible VGC has been! While it's still tedious (Dynamax Adventures requiring coordination is bad, grinding Dynite Ore for Ability Patch is bad, doing 100+ raids for candy/Armorite Ore->Watts is okay), it doesn't feel that much worse than, say, beating the story. Here's to the hope Gen. IX is even better. Please Game Freak don't make Terastalize marks raid-exclusive. Blisy, I look forward to seeing your recreation of Naoto Mizubuchi and Eduardo Cunha's teams!
I really don’t get the “rng manipulation is cheating” sentiment. That’s… just how the game works. No modification is made, no rules broken, just exploiting the game’s internal mechanics as they were implemented to get a result you want. Next you’re gonna tell me that blissey bases are cheating because gamefreak didn’t intend the base feature for level grinding…
You're doing the Lord's work with these videos. EVERY single person who cries about hacking in old skool VGC should be made to watch these videos, then made to actually execute what they've seen. The problem is with Gamefreak/The Pokemon Company and thank goodness they've taking steps in the right direcctions these days.
pretty impressive going through all of this, I have no shame in saying I gave up dealing with getting a team legit and gen'd although I very quickly moved to the showdown sim.
i’ve been watching these videos while i’m doing other things, and honestly it’s kind of getting me back into pokémon after a burnout. thank you so much for your amazing content!
This guy makes me both happy and sad, i hurt a leg at work and had a few weeks off and watched one of his videos I was like there’s no way I can do a team but maybe just one to make a long story sort I had two weeks off and only happen to kill whismir with hariyama and was like yep you know that’s good enough for me.
Yeah I totally agree. Nearly Everyone in VGC 2016 was hacking and it was an open secret. Way too many perfect shinys, legendarys etc. I wanted to play online too and create a competitive team and eventually resorted to hacking in my Pokémon and tbh it was waaay to easy. If a 15y/o kid can do it you bet every VGC player can do it. At the time (before I decided to make my own team) i was profusely anti-cheat but I realised I actually wanted to play the game instead of non-stop grinding and I think that’s what most VGC players thought too.
I've seen my fair share of pokemon challenges of varying types. From basic nuzlockes to difficulty full randomizer nuzlocke rom hacks. This is a different breed of pokemon challenge where you don't really fight pokemon, but randomness itself.
Thank god Sword and Shield made competitive breeding a breeze. There were still a lot of hackers in VGC this year but one positive stat I found was that 85% of Japanese players that competed in Worlds used legal Pokemon. Hopefully the Pokemon Company will add more ways to make breeding easier!
Man this takes me back. Gen 6 and 7 were when I was super interested in competitive. Even then, once I figured out how to hack in Pokémon I just did that for interesting and off-meta teams I wanted to play with. Still took forever doing it legit for my main team. (Mostly… I hacked in an old event Pokémon because I could not find any for trade lol)
>"I'll hack to get the event pokemon" >"This isnt hacking because I dont have a time machine" I love how we shame the shit out of people who hack pokemon into the game, while the pokemon company feels its perfectly acceptable to lock Pokemon behind Events from 20 years ago or make them exclusive to the 3 people that visited a one-time japanese-only pokemon mime drama and found the code on the back of a park bench near the theater.
Gen 6 was the first and only generation I tried to make teams with perfect IV and EV for online competitions. I mostly did gimmicky teams but, even with all these quicker methods compared to previous gens, making a full team of 6 pokemon from scratch the legit way was a hassle to say the least. It was satisfying to have dozens of legitimate competitive-ready pokemon that I could use by the end of the generation but I couldn't bring myself to repeat this in gen 7 or 8. I can't say that I hated it but it was an immense time consuming endeavor.
Regardless of anyone's "moral stance", (let's face it - these "legit play" puritans are incredibly uninformed and look absolutely ridiculous weaponizing morality in a child's video game), the point is to show how incredibly impractical making competitive Pokémon was and largely still is. It's not about "doing it the right way". It's about Game Freak needing to address and fix a hellishly tedious, inaccessible, and unintuitive mechanic that is at the heart of competitive play in Pokémon.
Good to see you here :) So Verlis, unsurprisingly makes a video being at this guy, while also invoking double standards, hypocrisy and the usual crap. This is pure desperation to extend life support on his pathetic channel.
@@crashertalksmore9869 Honestly, the fact that Verlis got so up in arms about this video is really pathetic, especially because the Raichu was easily the hardest mon to obtain in the Video. Still took 15hrs even with modern RNG
I feel like now’s a good time to jump into Gen 8. There werent that many major changes made in gen 7 other than Hyper Training, which is poorly implemented on account of requiring Level 100 pokemon in games that do not have convenient grinding strats, like Blissey Bases.
@@azeria1 Nah that was Gen 7. (In fact, I had mis-remembered it being a Gen 6 addition.) But yeah, I remember back in Gen 7 having to optimize the goddamn Festival Plaza to grind Bottle Caps. It was miserable. Not to mention the level 100 requirement. Eventually people started to realize it was quicker and easier to just breed for 5-6 IV mons. Pokepelago was dope though. I miss that feature.
@@Ocarinist_Drew PokePelago did have a glitch during the beginning of SM, where, during the transition to the new month, all the jobs that were going on would be finish. I abused this glitch a lot when first hearing about it mainly to get my Pokémon up to level 100 as quickly as I can.
Truth be told this is the only reason why I only recently started building competitive teams in Mainline Games. Its gotten so much better over the years, and SV made it so easy.
gen 7 had a nicer movement loop than the battle resort, being that tiny broken fence area that you just spun around in with tauros charge, and USUM allowed you to deposit pokemon to make room for eggs and quickly check a box's worth of pokemon's ivs at a glance instead of having to talk to an npc for each one. Also, mantine surf for BP and bottle caps
I definitely liked the way gen 6 gave you so many options to EV train, and for sure hordes was my fav, are you planning to do a gen 7 VGC team anytime soon? it was the last Pokémon gen i played and i got fond memories of it ☺️
I'm pretty sure that most of the top players used hack Pokemon until recently, but didn't "hack it themselves"; catch my drift? Someone else made it for them, and traded to them exactly what they needed. They themselves are "not knowledgeable enough" to determine it is hacked, and therefore if the game says it is legit that means it is legit. It's the perfect workaround. Lots of people want to help them because they are high level players, so it is not outrageous to imagine people would be more than happy to trade them very good Pokemon. The players have the perfect cover. The game says its legit, how would they know that it's hacked? Right?
I remember giving up trying to get a 5iv ditto in gen 6 after a week i dont know how you have such incredible stamina and determination, keep up these vids they're amazing.
You're doing God's work, man. GameFreak needs to watch all these videos. Like you said, they're making improvements to the process every gen, but it's still way too long. By the time your team is ready, it's the end of the season and the rules change.
It's so weird..... Started following the competitive scene in gen 6, and I heard SO MUCH ranting about people who hacked in their battle ready mons. Those who hacked shot back that building a legit team took far too long. ..These videos are proving the point of those who Action Replay their teams. 😲
@@DrawciaGleam02 Yeah I started dabbling in Gen 4 but really got into competitive in Gen 5. Back then it was the norm to hack in your Pokemon. If you weren't playing on a simulator, you were playing with hacked mons against other players who also hacked. Nobody seemed to care until Gen 6-7. As long as you were hacking in theoretically *legal* mons it was fine. I should say though, when I say "competitive", I'm refering to Smogon OU, not VGC. I have no idea what the VGC community was like back then, I was a smogonite. I could see hacks being much mote devisive at an in-person, Nintendo-sponsored event.
@@Ocarinist_Drew Hard to say for Gens 4 & 5 since the community was a lot smaller then and there were way less events being held at the time But post Gen 6 it’s definitely become a very small (almost non-existent) issue. As more and more people started to take VGC seriously, the more understanding a lot of people have become towards genning due to the sheer amount of teams you can blow through (not entirely uncommon for people to test a new team at locals every 1-2 weeks), especially in Gen 8 where genning your Pokemon is so extremely accessible and easy to do with the use of automated genning bots that people have set up. At this point, typically the only people you’ll hear complain about genning in any capacity are the ones who don’t actually compete (though there are a few exceptions)
This would take someone who is an actual casual fan.. like me... And not an RNG expert with a plan and not having to lookup Bubapedia and wrap their heads around RNG at LEAST double the time that you spent.. most likely even more, maybe even 3x or 4x more. So Wolfie and his pal "got their Pokémon from someone else"??? Hmm... Pretty sure that's code for hacked.
this was great, your previous video got me into pokemon rng manipulation, I'm doing it in emulator but I already gotten over 160 shinies in pokemon rowe (open world version of emerald with all pokemons in it) I'm having a blast, thanks to you and papa jefe for making such amazing tutorials.
Fun fact about the Rayquaza and just soft resetting to get all the IVs, I actually did this with the Mew distribution they gave out in 2016.. ended up getting Timid + 5 IVs on Pokemon Day. Took way too long, but it's cool to have.
edit: it helped that I didn't have to catch it, plus I could just start by checking its HP stat to make sure it had a 30 or 31 in that (i was actually hoping for just a 30 in that so I'd know there were still 3+ 31s for the rest of its stats.. but iirc it did end up with 5 31s)
Hordes is a welcome addition. I always wondered why they didn't give us wild double battles even without a partner in previous gens. Even if they were uncommon, it'd be the occasional free extra double EV.
Great video. How do they expect people to go all of this without hacks or cheating playing competitive through the games legit is like a full time job. They need to do a better job making you get a competitive team easier.
Really good video. I remember I started to get interested in competitive Pokemon in gen 6, and wanted to breed my favorites with perfect IVs/EVs/Nature. I ended up filling a couple of boxes, It was really fun, but I wouldn't have been able to if a friend didn't trade me a hacked 6IV ditto to pass IVs. I think we can all agree that breeding used to be really poorly desgin
That's hilarious, literally just hack the mon lmfao. It even gives you more time to practice actually battling with that team instead of like, making your pokemon lay 863636283 eggs. I just don't understand the stubbornness behind it. 😅 you're literally giving time you can't get back out of your life away so that your pokemons are "more legit"
this is kind of unrelated, but did you hear about how the people who did Nintendo minute wanted to do a nuzlocke, and when they asked the pokemon company about it, the pokemon company said that they see nuzlockes, and other such challenges, the same as hacking. like thats just absurd lmao, but it goes to show how crazy they are.

While these are extremely interesting, I don't think the witch hunters are an easy crowd to sway, they've been doing this for years
Well, this continues up to Gen 7.
After that its not that hard anymore, luckily
@@niklasstg6957 Gen 7 is piss easy. I think Gen 6 was the last hard one.
@@lunamaster123
Things have got so easy in Gen 8, you can:
1. get guaranteed 4 Max IV pokemons via dynamax adventure and raid battles
2. farm Bottle Caps and easily maximize your pokemon's all 6 IVs with just 75 BP (assuming you purchased the DLC) with seriously overpowered Calyrex and Zacian
3. earn lots of Exp. Candies to grind mons faster with Raid Battles (this means it's easier to reach level 100 in gen 8 to apply some caps)
4. hatch eggs with perfect IVs and egg moves easier with easily available box and more accessibilities over generations
5. get mint to easily change a pokemon's nature with just 50 BP
Sure, you would just hatch some eggs to get Perfect IV pokemons since it cost less BP and pretty easy to get, but you don't really have to grind full 10~15 Hours just to get Legendaries and Event pokemons with good IVs.
It’s interesting to note that in 2016 some teams needed certain hidden powers on some Pokémon which could make it take a lot longer to get the team
HP ice Groudon with 3 random perfect IVs says hi :)
I was SO passionate about competitive Pokemon back then :)
This video was super comforting and chill.

@@polocatfanyou good?
I’m so glad you made another video in this series, I’ve watched the first two probably a dozen times combined. Cant wait to see more🎉
Thanks!! I appreciate it.
I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to create a legit team with no hacks and the next day a certain Pokémon in your team gets banned or the meta shifts.
Stops me getting involved in it tbh... just seems unfun to do loads of grinding only for it not to ever pay off
Nothing gets sudden bans in VGC. Smogon is another topic, but i think most play it on Showdown nowadays anyways.
Meta shift is possible, but breeding as shown in the video, isn't too tedious and the restricted format would always move around Groudon / Rayquaza / Kyogre / Xerneas during OR/AS. Getting those again because you want to tweek their IV's would be very frustrating though.
i meant EV's, tho the same is correct for IV's but you'd always go with 0 IV Kyogre and Xerneas iirc.

Good luck, it's brutal.
u should start with showdown
As the guy above me said use showdown to at least test your team and come up with ideas before before you get it in game
@@cantcommuteany person who's even interested in competitive should get showdown

Kinda wanna see a gen 8 video since I think it’d be nice to see how far Pokémon has come with the gatekeeping in competitive
tl;dr: Most of what this video shows pretty much does not need to exist anymore. You pretty much have to only worry about breeding moves onto pokemon anymore because natures, abilities, EVs and IVs can now all be manipulated through Items that can be acquired VERY quickly thanks to rental teams. so for a full team probably like 30 hours with NO RNG manip at all

Eh, isn't the vitamin method kinda expensive?

Yeah I have never built a team without glitches in gen 3.
Please continue this series. I want to see you in specific cover all the generations, including the current.
I will do my best
Very interesting and really put it into perspective for me as a casual player who's intellectually interested in competitive. Subbed!

Ofc Verlis took your video out of context. This guy isn’t very smart
he tries to ban Wolfey for cheating since like 2016 XD
Agreed, but I still found it mind-numbingly boring
Woke up to this gem! Absolutely made my day better before I had to go to work! Love this series! I'd like to see gen 7 next!

"Hi, I'm a Blisy"

Thanks! It’s always good to see someone who is more into the scene than I am watch and appreciate these.
I’m just an online player mostly lol.
Really excited for whatever else is cooking in this series. I find it so interesting and it’s really informative as a vgc player!
I wanted to get into competitive pokemon around this time.
I bred an aegislash with all 31s and a 0 in speed. Then he got banned so i quit
i’ve been watching these videos while i’m doing other things, and honestly it’s kind of getting me back into pokémon after a burnout. thank you so much for your amazing content!

Yooooo pog! Its so much cooler to see this after whatching the streams!
You hit the nail on the head. If you spend less time breeding you have more time to play test and adjust your team.

Breeding Mons in SwSh was SO easy man. I really hope they keep this up and continue to make things easier
>"I'll hack to get the event pokemon"
>"This isnt hacking because I dont have a time machine"
I love how we shame the shit out of people who hack pokemon into the game, while the pokemon company feels its perfectly acceptable to lock Pokemon behind Events from 20 years ago or make them exclusive to the 3 people that visited a one-time japanese-only pokemon mime drama and found the code on the back of a park bench near the theater.
zoomers seething
Everyone hacks or cheats. Only low tier trash use "ehrmeged they cheat" as an excuse of why they lose.

I feel like now’s a good time to jump into Gen 8. There werent that many major changes made in gen 7 other than Hyper Training, which is poorly implemented on account of requiring Level 100 pokemon in games that do not have convenient grinding strats, like Blissey Bases.

Gen 6 was where I started breeding competitive mons, very fond memories. I didn't do any in gen 7 so I would love to see the methods used there next.
gen 7 had a nicer movement loop than the battle resort, being that tiny broken fence area that you just spun around in with tauros charge, and USUM allowed you to deposit pokemon to make room for eggs and quickly check a box's worth of pokemon's ivs at a glance instead of having to talk to an npc for each one. Also, mantine surf for BP and bottle caps

really good video! thanks for going through 85 hours of grind for us.
it was fun!
Back then in 2016 i just bought a Perfect Ditto with 6 Perfect ivs for like 3€ and got it traded. After that it was relative easy.

@@Ocarinist_Drew Hard to say for Gens 4 & 5 since the community was a lot smaller then and there were way less events being held at the time
But post Gen 6 it’s definitely become a very small (almost non-existent) issue.
No, you entitled kids are far too lazy to even take some time out of the day to breed a competitive Pokémon
@@Ocarinist_Drew also smogon is not competitive
great vid as always, was fun to join in on the streams too :D
This would take someone who is an actual casual fan.. like me... And not an RNG expert with a plan and not having to lookup Bubapedia and wrap their heads around RNG at LEAST double the time that you spent.. most likely even more, maybe even 3x or 4x more.
So Wolfie and his pal "got their Pokémon from someone else"???
Hmm... Pretty sure that's code for hacked.
this video gave me vietnam flashbacks to when I used to breed for IVs like it was my full time job
Oh no verlisify is malding
god this brought back so many memories. I didnt IV breed back in the day bc i was just battling with friends, but those horde battles, good memories.
this was great, your previous video got me into pokemon rng manipulation, I'm doing it in emulator but I already gotten over 160 shinies in pokemon rowe (open world version of emerald with all pokemons in it)
I'm having a blast, thanks to you and papa jefe for making such amazing tutorials.
awesome to hear.
CONGRATS BROTHA! you know youve officially made it when furry boi makes a hate piece on you haha
Don't they have wild double battles in gen 3, in the really tall grass?
i was already exhausted when he finished breeding them all and i was like that was a great video and then he said “time to ev train” and i nearly died
Great video. How do they expect people to go all of this without hacks or cheating playing competitive through the games legit is like a full time job.
They need to do a better job making you get a competitive team easier.
Easier in Gen 7-Present. No excuse to cheat. If you simply cannot take some time out of your day, then don’t be competitive
I really love your new style and the amount of confidence you have in your content, it is amazing to see. Been watching since your gen three guides😂
thanks.
So wolf confirmed gens mons
Why should that even matter?
Good for him. You'd need to pay me and pay me _well_ to do this.
It's just such a "pokemon is the only thing happening in my life" take.
this video was very fascinating i watched the video on gen 5 too awhile ago
Thanks!
Aye! Good to see ya here Gavin, hope all's well. :)
@@crashertalksmore9869 good to see you too indeed all is well just been watching lots of youtube and stuff how have you been ?
So basically if people didn’t hack the competitive scene would be pretty much non existent… nice work game freak
No no no.
You don’t need to hack.
Blame the cheaters. Nobody is forcing people, ESPECIALLY ADULTS LIKE WOLFEY, to hack.
@@imafatass9123 How about making the game about who is better at battling instead of who has more time.
@@imafatass9123 maybe if the system wasnt so bad people would do it as intended.

@@Gich101 you hit the nail on the head. Not everyone has that amount of time
this is kind of unrelated, but did you hear about how the people who did Nintendo minute wanted to do a nuzlocke, and when they asked the pokemon company about it, the pokemon company said that they see nuzlockes, and other such challenges, the same as hacking. like thats just absurd lmao, but it goes to show how crazy they are.
I'll never understand why people think hacking legitimate pokemon just to *save time* is "cheating." Pokemon purists are so weird.
There's a difference between legit and legal, keep in mind the correct term you should use is legal, not legitimate.
the time save allows you to train and perfect your team. thats where the problems arise
The thing is, they’re not legit. If it was created without in game methods, or uses any software, it’s cheating.
