One clarification I wanted to make with the Zoom tool modifier key around the 2:35 mark. There are actually TWO zoom modifier keys. If you hover your mouse over a region, you have to press Control-Option in order for the zoom modifier to work. However, if your mouse is NOT hovering over a region, you can simply hold Option and this will toggle the zoom tool, as I demonstrated in the video. This is because holding Option over a region would simply engage the tool's region modifier -- with the pointer tool, that would be the duplicate function for example.

THANK YOU! Navigating views in Logic has been one of the biggest PITA aspects to me... you clarified this solution beautifully... subscribing ;)

Oh man... I was JUST working on a new audiobook project and was trying to find quicker ways to zoom and navigate around. You answered every question I had and you've already saved me a ton of time. Outstanding overview, and thank you!

Great tutorial! Learned a lot while watching it. - I think this was not mentioned yet:
hold option and press the middle mouse button,
then drag vertically or horizontally for zooming around

    Helpful video, thanks!
One problem, though, with the Zoom Tool keyboard command you showed us: holding down just the option key to get the Zoom tool cursor only works when the mouse is in the background area - if it's over an existing region you still see the pointer tool (or whatever your Left Click tool is set to.) But holding Control-option will give you the Zoom tool cursor (and functionality when you drag-select or click) if the mouse if over a region or over the background. This gives you flexibility to make a drag selection in the middle of a region (or regions) rather than needing to start your drag or click in the background area (as you'd need to do with just option key held.)
If you watch this video's Zoom Tool section (2:40) closely, you'll see what I say is true (with your option key only held, when your cursor is over an existing region, you only have the pointer tool.)
I tried this on two separate machines with 10.7.4 Logic Pro installations as well as a seldom-used old PowerBook running Logic Pro X 10.4.8, and the behavior was the same (need Control-Option for over-region Zoom cursor.) I have a US keyboard setup all three installations and I don't remember changing any key commands for Zoom.

You are correct. Logic has two zoom modifiers, I should have clarified that in the video. Option works if the mouse is not hovering over a region. While Control-Option works when the mouse is hovering over a region, because holding option over a region would pull up the duplicate modifier (or other modifiers for other tools). Thanks.

👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻🙏🏻 Very help- and useful. Thanks a lot. As far as live Loos are concerned I never used them so far. I’m going to google if there are any tutorials about Live Loops here in UA-cam.

I did a video earlier this year that is a Quick Start guide on Live Loops, I recommend checking it out, as it explains all the basics on how to get started. ua-cam.com/video/iqJu0opJb2c/v-deo.html
I also did a full course on using Live Loops when it came out, if you're looking for more of a deep dive.

When you zoom the waveform, how do you snap it back to default? I understand you can click the button on the top right and it will go back to normal, but I want to reset it all together. Thanks

That is Waveform Zoom. Click on it to switch between zoomed in and zoomed out waveforms. And click and drag on it to adjust your zoomed waveform size.

I follow your UA-cam channel, I learn so much stuff but no one has show/touched on the topic of a poorly functioning sample browser yet.
Is there any way to make sample playback work as efficiently as it does in ableton, fl studio ??
Loops converted to untagged loops still work fine, but short one shots of drums or other sounds are drama.
I miss the logic of such an efficient sound browser as it is in ableton or fl studio, it is very annoying when you sit down to do a beat and you have to dig through a lot of samples.
