  • This is the start of training my smallmouth bass and walleye to eat from my hand. This is the second full year of the pond, and the bluegill are beginning to increase in numbers. I'm going to begin culling them out and removing the smaller ones, but I want to repurpose them into food for the smallmouth and walleye to begin packing on the pounds. Our golden shiners are so big that they're eating fathead minnows.

    Pretty cool footage. I had no idea that shiners would eat minnows like that. Hope to see some underwater footage of the next generation of perch. I'm hoping my perch will spawn this year if they haven't already.

      Yeah, That was crazy…I didn’t realize shiners at minnows. If I see the next perch generation, I’ll report it in a future video. I did see a couple last fall in the shallow vegetation.
