This was a classic HT commentary - talking about an average superhero movie, lots of poking at plot holes and tropes, lots of funny ideas, mini movie fight thrown in for good measure, and just everyone having a good time! Loved it (ps the lonely place of living is a great Tim Drake comic imho) :D
Next week's honest trailer(s) are the three Pinocchio movies that dropped this year (the Disney remake, the Netflix GDT one and most likely the Pauly Shore one too lol)
Spencer's Godzilla comparison is spot on. I had quite a bit of fun with this movie. It has a lot of epic moments, and I like how the score is in full-on epic mode for most of the movie. It also takes itself about the right amount of seriously. It has some dumb elements to it, but it knows to breeze past most of those and get to the cool stuff. I recently read Invincible, and that was one of the most refreshing things about Robert Kirkman's writing, the way he would breeze past the exposition that he knew would just repeating things you already were familiar with in order to get to the parts that were unique to his story. I'm glad we're finally getting to the point with superhero movies where we can also do that, even if it can be kind of hit and miss from one movie or show to the next.
if the last we ever see of the rock and cavill is that weird ending itll be the most hilarious sequel set up since buckaroo banzai vs the world crime league
i couldnt figure out the similarities to all the other WB films until you mentioned godzilla. this absolutely felt like a kaiju film! except the rock is the kaiju lmao
The worst part is not that Henry Cavill is getting recast- It's that we wanted him for so long and apparently Dwayne fought for him to show up in the end credits, Just a few weeks later be like yeah we're recasting
The entire message of "heroes don't kill" from the Justice Society is instantly nullified by the fact that Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman have all straight up killed people.
On picking a scientific discipline to be in sci-fi movies: I studied materials science, which means I'm probably most likely to show up in Iron Man, Batman or other movies with some sort of super-tech suit or armoured vehicles etc. These days I work in epidemiology, so I get to be in all the killer virus movies.
The rock thinks so highly of himself that he can lift up anything and make it great when he most certainly cannot. He's just, the worst and has an ego so big he couldn't bench it.
Kind of like 00Hawkman. Hawkman seems to suck no matter what you do so I appreciate the swing at at new type if Hawkperson. I read the tie in lead up Hawkman comic and they basically do the scubasuit to pressed tux change for him in it and it works. I would love to see an Indiana Bond Hawkman in the future.
If they recast Black Adam for the DCU, my fancast would be Vin Diesel. Like Vin was Riddict, so we know he can play Anti-Heroes well if that's the direction the DCU is going for Black Adam. Also seeing that there are rumors that the Rock's Ego also ruined the Fast n' Furious Franchise, replacing Jonson with Diesel would be hilariously ironic
But they kept the music when Adam turned good, for a few seconds. Because every movie keyed to teenagers in the last 7 years has to play that same sound clip "Oh Ah, AHH AHHH' at least twice . (sorry I can't be bothered to look up the song. Don't need THAT getting locked into my algorithm)
You know what I was missing while watching Black Adam? Greg Berlanti's Legends of Tomorrow. That was a fun show not stuck by the over morose flow of Arrow n the over melodramatic progression of Flash. Black Adam was a fun movie to watch but the jokes weren't laughable n the movie wasn't memorable
To me, the worst thing about the film was that none of the characters made me care about them. Johnson was a side character in his own film and pretty unlikeable.
I didn't watch Black Adam in the theaters and here's why: The Rock is too damned pumped and I find it boring. At this point even when he's playing a human (relatively speaking) guy is a combination of tall and just too jacked for there to be any tension in action scenes. When I think of The Rundown Rock he was a fun character, who often won fights, BUT still got worked over. But these days? He's a juggernaut of impossible proportions and combining that with this Black Adam character (to my understanding Shazam! powers only without the limitations of being a kid trying to figure stuff out) and where's the tension? The Rock needs to halve his protein intake and focus on cardio over bulk for a year to bring him back down to something resembling even action-hero reality.
it’s not in the movie, but Intergang traditionally are humans who have access to reverse engineered weapons from Apokalypse. I guess that’s how they can control an entire country.
Kinda surprised y'all didn't pick up on the neocolonialism w/ the Intergang stuff. It's just Shell and Nigeria, but in comic book form. Stupid name, though.
The editing & cinematography for Black Adam straight gave me a headache. I didn't mind the story but it was difficult to follow at times because I don't think there was a single camera shot that lasted longer than 10 seconds. It felt like I was watching Taken or a 2000s MTV video.
I enjoyed Black Adam for what it was, and was hesitant to watch what I thought would be a less-than-charitable discussion. But am pleasantly surprised at how glowing this is. Totally agree this movie is fun to poke at but you guys cover all the things I thought it did well 🦸🏻♂️

“Father, when can I leave to be on my OOOOOOOOOWN, I got the whole world to see!”
LOL this is gonna be insane.
@@benabramowitz18 i swear to god if they dont do the pauly shore movie i will cry
Ahh yes, the best trilogy of 2022.
Adam Ruins Everything and Diary of a Mad Black Adam were both fantastic.

Yes! Let Danielle do An Honest Christmas!
if the last we ever see of the rock and cavill is that weird ending itll be the most hilarious sequel set up since buckaroo banzai vs the world crime league
WELP 😐

Intergang was name dropped on Superman:TAS a couple times. All I remember about them is that Darkseid was giving them weapons.
Honest trailer for James Cameron would be very timely. Also, I absolutely lost it at Pierced Brosnan.
Nah. Get an Honest Trailer for Steven Spielberg.
So glad you to hear your all voice again and seeing you
If only they released this a week later. There's already SO MUCH extra drama.
Every Guillermo Del Toro Movie Honest Trailer
I need that freshly poured bowl of vibranium to start the day.
The entire message of "heroes don't kill" from the Justice Society is instantly nullified by the fact that Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman have all straight up killed people.
Also nullified by the fact that Dr Fate literally threatens to kill Black Adam mere seconds after Hawkman chastised him for almost doing that
I guess that's why the Justice Society and the Justice League are two separate groups. "This is the No Murderers Club!"
“Are we gonna get Superman’s dong?”
Spencer asking the important questions
"Faster than a speeding bullet, more powerful than a locomotive, able to..."
The rock thinks so highly of himself that he can lift up anything and make it great when he most certainly cannot. He's just, the worst and has an ego so big he couldn't bench it.
The Rock should go back to his Pain and Gain roles
Hellman may have been a crap villain, but I hear they make a good mayonnaise
Can Danielle have a Christmas segment Alonso Duralde? Please?
Wow, these usually pop up immediately on my home page, but I didn't even see this one until 2 days late. 🙃🙃
Honest trailer for Denis Villeneuve.
Kind of like 00Hawkman. Hawkman seems to suck no matter what you do so I appreciate the swing at at new type if Hawkperson. For me, change the hierarchy of Honest Trailer Commentaries and do Ski School 1 and 2.
Pinocchio movies next week! And no Mallrats reference this week lol
The next Honest Trailer has gotta be a Christmas movie.
Missed an opportunity with something like "I can't see through Nth metal, Kent"
The beginning of this had a audio flop it just kept repeating and there was silence. Wow
I still talk about Bobby Flay embarrasses you in front of your family by inviting himself to cook your signature dish better.

I'm here for the hallmark movie theatre
Every James Cameron movie, every Sam raimi movie, every James Gunn movie, every j j abrams movie, every Stanley Kubrick movie
I dont care what anyone says. I loved Black Adam. One of Dc' s best movie and alot better than alot of marvel movies.
How did I know spencer would be here for this one?
Dwayne I think also said he doesn't want his nemesis to be a kid.
I liked the Honest Trailer more than the film.
Did y'all do a "Movies of Martin Scorsese" video yet?
You know what I was missing while watching Black Adam? Greg Berlanti's Legends of Tomorrow. That was a fun show not stuck by the over morose flow of Arrow n the over melodramatic progression of Flash. Black Adam was a fun movie to watch but the jokes weren't laughable n the movie wasn't memorable
next one should be Bullet Train
Could you do an Honest Trailer for The Iron Giant?
Love The Iron Giant! An honest trailer would be awesome. They should do more classic or older movies.
...okay, I could take a break from Lon now. Dude, there are other people on the show, FYI.
To me, the worst thing about the film was that none of the characters made me care about them. Johnson was a side character in his own film and pretty unlikeable.
Love black adam film
Phase 4 honest trailers
Please do Guillermo Del Toro
Isn’t the one news site that said black Adam bomb own by Disney
Can people just admit the movie looked cool but was too greedy, confusing , down right pointless ? 🙄 In general, pretty much unnecessary.
Fully agreed. It was fun but I got bored by the end

Botanicus book!
7:17 - 8:20 *ONE HUNDRED PERCENT AGREE*
This movie is still mediocrely suck on the overall quality of Black Adam
it’s not in the movie, but Intergang traditionally are humans who have access to reverse engineered weapons from Apokalypse. I guess that’s how they can control an entire country.
Kinda surprised y'all didn't pick up on the neocolonialism w/ the Intergang stuff. It's just Shell and Nigeria, but in comic book form. Stupid name, though.
I resisted long enough….DIVERSITY HIRE!
Lon liking this movie makes me look at his movie opinions side-eyed from now on
Also Matrix Resurrection, but we're all allowed to make mistakes
Charles Manson on the right over there. Lol.
The editing & cinematography for Black Adam straight gave me a headache. I didn't mind the story but it was difficult to follow at times because I don't think there was a single camera shot that lasted longer than 10 seconds. It felt like I was watching Taken or a 2000s MTV video.
Sooooo we not gonna talk about Danielle being a literal pick me? Girl STAND UP!
(I'm being silly btw and NOT trying to disparage her character.)
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Haha no more black adam
En Argentina nací
Tierra del Diego y Lionel
De los pibes de Malvinas
Que jamás olvidaré
No te lo puedo explicar
Porque no vas a entender
Las finales que perdimos
Cuantos años la lloré
Pero eso se terminó
Porque en el Maracaná
La final con los brazucas
La volvió a ganar papá
Muchachos
Ahora nos volvimos a ilusionar
Quiero ganar la tercera
Quiero ser campeón mundial
Y al Diego
Desde el cielo lo podemos ver
Con Don Diego y La Tota
Alentándolo a Lionel
Muchachos
Ahora nos volvimos a ilusionar
Quiero ganar la tercera
Quiero ser campeón mundial
Also Shazam, terrible name. Its Captain Marvel, the mightiest mortal damn it!
The Rocks worst performance ever.
man this movie sucks so much my body hurts

Same and am glad.
