- Isle of Dogs is a movie that many people love and many people scratch their heads at. It's got lots of dogs, though, and that's good. But it also has sins. That's bad.
Thursday: Fantasy sins.
Remember, no movie is without sin. Which movie's sins should we count next?

My mom bought this movie for my little brother because it was a dog movie.....lots of sad puppy tears that night
Lol
@@vsparky6967 i suppose it was a lol moment mr sparky but you know as a talking dog a government agency is on your way to your house and your gonna get put down
@@jimbothetimbo6790 there is a kidney transplant scene in the half end, did your brother get scared like me? And plus, Isle of Dogs is Rated 13+
@@zackkatian3436 Well, there's fantastic mr fox...
@@JustMatheus it was the ear scene that made him start bawling so he never got to that part this is the first time I’ve seen past the fight lol
Man sinned one of the most satisfying animation scenes in history the sushi scene.
How did you know that its 9 minutes in and its been 9 minutes since you left that comment?

Hey stop doing bird man thing
yeah holy crap. who sins that? like, why are you even watching a stop motion animation film at that point. bruh.... i thought cinema sins was to indulge people in the obviously annoying parts of films, and revel in the stand out wow moments
Nah, my favourite scene is the Kidney Transplant
The sushi scene in the movie feels like an ASMR in visual form and it's one of the most satisfying thing in animated films next to the "Woody gets fixed" scene. Not to mention this scene took 8 months to finish which it's very impressive that stop-motion takes a lot of patience.
Amen. It's impossible not to enjoy the amount of craft that goes into movies like this and Coraline.
Imo I don’t really find it satisfying at all lol plus i don’t understand why people lie scenes like that
@@LeahBouley If you get it, you get it and its awesome, if you don't, learn to get it. The craftsmanship behind stop motion is insane. Stop motion movies require more work then any other movie type.
@@Goremize "Learn to get it" as if your *opinion* is correct. Someone can appreciate something and the work that goes into it and still not enjoy it at all, and there's nothing wrong with that.
Besides, I'm pretty sure they were talking about "satisfying" scenes in movies. Not everyone finds them satisfying, and if you don't then it's just a minute + of nothing interesting happening.
@@mykodibear17 You know how I Know you didn't read my comment? :)
"The keypad is all in Japanese symbols, but the display readout is in English." Yeah, a lot of these sins are recognizably less sinful if you've spent time in Japan.
agreed. i noticed this as well. even tho i was only in Japan for 2 weeks 13 years ago you don't forget such things
"Like anyone could develop and distribute a vaccine in under a year" - I like what you did there.
I didn’t. It was a lazy joke.

@@skylx0812 does it hurt being THAT stupid? Genuinely curious.
I love Wes Anderson's absolute NEED to be symmetrical in his films. It's even more stark of a directorial choice in this and The Fantastic Mr. Fox due to the still nature of claymation. It's absolutely fascinating. It like seeing a visual representation of one man's OCD on screen. I can appreciate this as I'm OCD myself and I have a great love for all hand crafted animation whether it be clay, puppetry or hand-drawn.
"Professor Watanabe never gave up."

The owls probably began giving the dogs trapped on that island crucial information to feed their vast rumor mill after Sports was offered by the dogs as a water sucking sacrifice to provide said owls with the necessary water they required to fly back and forth to the Isle of Dogs.

"Two seconds away from their pet and they’d be a quivering heap of sorrow and longing"
A few years ago I had a nightmare that ended with being rescued by a puppy. I think about that puppy a lot and when I do I am reduced to a quivering heap of sorrow and longing.
For a dog that doesn't exist.
Yet.
I LUV This Movie - But I think you let them off easy with the Pagoda Slide. This maybe the only time that I don't like a "Kids" sin, but come on .. here is a very mature, very driven, very focused Atari, and he wants to ride a Frickin' Slide? Least thing Wes could have done is made the distraction more interesting, like a good ramen bar, or a wack-a-mole where the ticket thing just keeps spitting out tickets, or the window to Jerry's Mom's room (frickin' Jerry).
How is this comment 13 hours old when the video was uploaded 10 minutes ago

Are u kidding me? any kid no matter the maturity that i know loves slides!
Dogs speak in English and humans speak in Japanese. It's not a mistake, not a coincidence, not a sin it's a choice by Wes. Anybody who isn't lazy to watch a billion video essays already knows this... Oh wait...
Man this was my first Wes Anderson movie and I loved it! Glad I was able to see some of the set pieces in person at my college.
Dang, I'm so jealous. I love stop motion and Wes Anderson movies, this and Mr Fox blends them beautifully
Drinking game: Take a shot every time someone says “dog”
AKA Dead in 5 minutes
Fun fact: dogs are more likely to eat their owners than cats are
There is more than one story of a paralyzed person waking up from their sleep to find their puppy has gnawed their toes off.
This is one of my favourite movies of all time! It was so funny, sad and dark! You go through so many emotions whilst watching it! I also agree, I would have been on a boat going after my dog!
@@meriwilliams1217 I do! I absolutely love it!
I'm only watching it for the second or third time now not sure.. But I did see it in cinema and it was Fucking amazing on the big screen.. Like you say it's funny but it has sombre darkness to it the whole time.. It's a perfect VERY late night movie or a early lazy Sunday movie.. A weird combo
omg i remember seeing this like 4 times when it came out in theaters. I don't even mind spending money on it, it's one of my favorites.
Bill Furray didn't break the fourth wall. He's clearly looking at one of his dog-lleagues when he says "wow!"
Haha the "who is she translating this for" sin makes me laugh because anyone who's been to Japan or spent a lot of time speaking to people over there understands ... sometimes just English.
While going to a meeting and having everyone speak Japanese followed by one person doing their presentation in full English is rare ... it happens. I remember watching a show where two old guys play video games and the jet pack in SM Sunshine ran out of water. He's asking everyone in Japanese what's going on, a crew member says "you are our of water" in Japanize, only uses the English word for water, and the guy replays with "Oh so I have to get more water?" in English, to which the crew member replies "Yes, from the pool" in Japanize.
It's just random and crazy.
I can confirm that my older brother would 100% go to an island to find our pet dog. His description of a dog owner is completely true.
This is my favorite Wes Anderson movie, I am huge fan and big admirer of stop motion animation. Love and respect for all animators for your hard work to make these movies amazing!
Over Fantastic Mr Fox?
@@JohnRapheal7 Yes. :D
Ok
@@bloggerblogg5878 I get you. Mr Fox holds a special place in my heart but this one is amazing as well. I saw it multiple times in the theater
@@JohnRapheal7 I understand that, as screen junkies said: ''everyone has his own Wes Anderson movie list. which one he/she likes and which one likes the least.''
And Mr. Fox made the same, stop motion and the characters are unique and I like that too.
My good sir, this movie is a masterpiece

That rumor about cats always makes me sad. It was started by neighbors of an old lady who didn't care about her until they smelled her corpse. The old lady was decomposing, she wasn't eaten. The cats survived by drinking toilet water and were not doing great when they were rescued.
Uhhh actually is has been scientifically proven. A quick Google search and a short documentary will show you.
Too bad the “rumor” is actually fact
@@krisj5561 But dogs do the same thing. Both cats and dogs are equally likely to eat their owner's body if they're starving. It's a rumour that only cats do it, for sure.
I watched this movie in a special screening meant for dogs. Sixty dogs barked non-stop during the movie. It was beautiful.
Sometimes I watch cinemasins and my first thought is: " I wonder what they're gonna say about this in the bts pod"
I look forward to hearing about the research of owl hydration! Lol

The way it's animated, the style of the jokes, this whole movie is like a shitpost and I love it.
Now I am patiently going to wait for a Fantastic Mr Fox video. Take your time, I'll be waiting.
FMF is almost flawless.
3:20 bro boss is clearly saying "wow" looking at Duke. If it counts as a sin you can say he looked a bit too far to his right.
I need them to do fantastic mr fox now since their both created so well creatively and id love to see what they say about it
I second this. Obtained the movie on DVD (BlockBuster exclusive edition) from a pawn shop a month or two ago, and I can confirm it was a _fantastic_ time indeed (pun intended). Would definitely love to see what they sin in a sins vid of it.
for sure, maybe my favorite animated movie of all time
I never thought I would say this, and this takes nothing away from the best movie commentary ever, this whole movie sailed over your head. With clearance. This movie is the ultimate critique of Japanese culture -- there's a lot there to begin with, and wes did it with unbelievable genius. To get it you need to have once been an exchange student to Japan (in the 1970s, like Was's sister did).
When I watched this movie I was so excited to see a cinemasins of it and its finally here! Now we just need a video on fantastic mr fox
1. Dogs can't talk. The rest is moot once you accept that.
He better be angry that the movie is hinged on spitting dogs when dogs cannot in fact spit
Finally, after being referenced on Coraline sin video it actually comes out
Plz do Everything Wrong with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and/or any Charlie Kaufman and Paul Thomas Anderson films plz!!!!!
Hope he takes "I'm thinking of ending things". That movie was so confusing
@Luke Sanchez I watched it because the trailer looked like a mystery or psychological thriller about time and reality distortion. Instead, I got a lot of instrospection, obscure references to movies, musicals and other director's films, and only made me feel angry, like I lost +2 hours of my life and didn't got what that movie was about. Had to read some articles just to know a bit about it.
I can assure is not a movie for everyone.
“Quivering heap of sorrow and longing” would be exactly accurate.
I honestly love this movie.
Bonus points because of the stop motion.
Also more bonus points for area
How dare you sin this masterpiece

Please do Everything Wrong With Steven Universe: The Movie
I really loved this movie. I usually don’t like Wes Anderson’s stuff but this was fantastic in my opinion. In the movie, I got the sense that the dogs were just barking, but since the story is told from the dogs’s POV, we hear what they were really saying. Also I think the dogs (for the most part) stuck to the trash side of the island because that was their best chance to find food. Great video as always, your observations always make me laugh.
Literally watched this movie 2 days ago. Lets see what funny movie man has to say
"I come from a 9 pup litter... But they drowend the sisters "😂😂😂 Dark shit like that is why I love the comedy in this movie
Even though there were 112 sins, this was still a really good movie.
"wile E coyote physics in a movie that's not a cartoon" pretty sure this still passes as a cartoon
I’m just glad they didn’t sin 101 Dalmatians, that’s my favorite animated film from Disney’s classic era and it would’ve broken my heart if it got sinned. Still a good video

"Pack theory" isn't accurate for domestic dogs. The "alpha" changes based on what the pack needs so a pack of alphas could be a thing.

CinemaSins is a big inspiration to a lot of people man he personally inspired me to start my own UA-cam and I wanna thank him 🙏
I'm sure I've seen your comment 2 times already, are you sure you're only being thankful to him instead of self advertising? ding
m.ua-cam.com/video/v7VxjTSMAQ0/v-deo.html
I literally just watched this again recently and I enjoyed it much more the second time around. The craft and attention to detail were excellent. The fact that it's not subtitled is a strong stylistic choice. Maybe understanding a little Japanese helped a bit with that. Overall,, a wonderful film with superb animation. It bites. 😉👍
The total lack of emotional investment Cinemasins will sometimes put into his videos is really coming out in this one.
Most of his jokes in this one are delivered with such apathy that I couldn't care less what they were about. I've been doing stand-up for the better part of a decade, and one of the most important things to get down is your delivery. You could repeat the funniest joke the world has ever heard, but if It's clear you don't care then the audience won't care.
So if he's not going for the satire angle he must be going for the critic one? I don't buy it. If he liked or disliked this movie you would be able to tell by the cut of his lib, and it sounds like his additude toward this film was "I don't give a shit about it."
So if It's not entertainment and it's not commentary, then this has to go for the third reason people put stuff here and expect you to take them seriously: revenue. And considering how many views, likes, and comments this video has gotten so far, I think he's most likely already turned a profit; and that's all that matters.
But hey, don't take my word for it. After all, I'm just some out of touch small time comedian who halfheartedly throws a hundred pop-culture references at the wall hoping at least one will stick because I need my audience satisfied if I want my next show to be sold out.
