This ending is good imo, it shows that James finally stopped moping around and got over his wife's death after all and is willing to move on with his life, "You better do something about that cough" implies that he somewhat learned his lesson and so now he can treat Maria's disease before it's too late so it's not necessarily a vicious cycle There's also the implication that she's an hallucination but if she is wouldn't she vanish as soon as they leave Silent Hill? It would suck for James but he still learned something from his venture, stating otherwise would be dumb
This is a bad ending but it's my favorite ending in the whole game. It just seems the most fitting to the story and it was quite disturbing to hear James tell Maria to do something about her cough. He's learned nothing and it's probably an endless loop for him to go back to Silent Hill after potentially killing a 2nd time. Masterful storytelling
You can see many corpses around the city that look like James. This implies that he's been stuck in this loop for some time even before the game begins, like a purgatory to atone for his sins. In this ending, it shows that he still didn't learn and couldn't move on, so he's still trapped.
The leave ending is the most fitting to the story. It’s the canon ending for sure. I’d say Maria ending is probably the WORST ending of them all. He’s learned nothing and is doomed to repeat history again.
0:22 One of the things I loved about the Remake is how the facial capture, combined with the voice acting, allowed for more subtle and powerful ways of storytelling. You see James subtly shaking his head when he says, "Yes, more than anything." Just like in real life, sometimes when people lie, their body language gives their lie away.
But the OG fans still hate the remake. bunch of virgins. also, after that shot, mary showed a good animation as well. like she is holding her tears and folding her lips.
Yeah, it's great because while it isn't Detroit Become Human levels of animation (contemporary tech also considered) but it's still far more expressive & authentic than anything DC will ever make in his life. It isn't just about how the faces look, it's also about dialogue, delivery, timing, character writing. They nailed it.
My opinion on this ending is that it reflects that James was able to regain the presence of his wife, by having Maria. But, he didn't learn anything in the Silent Hill (town), which means that he is repeating his mistake, which makes this ending good and bad at the same time.
How is this good in any way😭 James denied any wrongdoing on his part He never learned his lesson And he went home with a silent hill monster This is objectively a 100% bad ending
@@sbajkgfvhedirwghvGood for Maria because she's not alone anymore and free of death cycles (her fears in her old DLC) but bad because James will kill her and repeat the cycle, Silent Hill will call him again.
I've always understood Silent Hill as your own purgatory. His mind literally created Maria to torture himself. So Maria Ending is just denial and not letting go. Everything is fine.
it looked like he sighed and partly realized the sh!t he's in won't stop when she coughed. That was a pretty cold and callous "better take care of that cough (or else i will)"
That's the beauty of this game- you can interpret that perhaps James did change despite it all and the town rewards him with a waifu ;) I mean, it's not like James cared for Maria greatly, protecting her from all the monsters, mourning her, checking up on her, and shows qualities of a loving husbando. xD
I think Bloober handled the script for the remake *masterfully.* It's still like 90% the same script, and the 10% that was changed was changed only minimally, still kept with the overall themes of the original script...and managed to get across the message more powerfully (in my opinion). I also like how they took certain lines out...like, taking out all of Jame's lines after he killed Eddie and instead focusing on his facial reactions and shaking hand was a much more subtle version of what he said in the original. Instead of saying, "I killed a human being," they just let his face and shaking hand do the talking. Brilliant.
man he's such the WORST in this ending bro, Maria's face after he said that has burned into my mind genuinely breaks my heart, Maria 😭💔she deserved so much better, not even in just this ending just her existence in general
I think the real brilliance is that when James lets Mary's condemning words basically wash over him, because he was used to turning himself off when she lashed out at him during the stresses of her disease. But it's also what cumulated in him going to Silent Hill: him constantly gripping with so many conflicting feelings for someone he loved going through such pain, his own pain festering all the while, that it manifested in this abandoned, hollow city. All this time, he's the man who killed his life and willed himself into forgetting about it. And here, he really shows that he'll never get better from it. He's going to treat Maria like a replacement, even if he knows all along that she's doomed to the same fate as Mary. He's just going to go through life, over and over again, refusing to learn a single thing because he's afraid of what'll come falling out of his cabinet when he finally does open it.
Completely agreed. If anything, I could actually see him treating Maria *worse* than he treated Mary. If one gets the "Maria" ending, it shows that James wanted Maria more than Mary--which is to say, he wanted somebody like his wife, but who wasn't sick, and was more overtly sexual (since he and Mary presumably weren't having sex during her disease). So he wanted a kindly, sexual plaything who wouldn't be a burden on him. If she's not fulfilling the needs that he believes she has to fulfill, I could totally see him treating Maria like some sort of object rather than a person. His cold, callous attitude towards her own needs is hinted at in his delivery of, "You better do something about that cough."
poor maria. was created by the town to be james' perfect image of a wife, only to be killed time and time again. in born from a wish we see maria truly does believe herself to be a person. the only outcome where she can be with the man she loves is one where he will hate and eventually kill her, repeating the cycle. created to be loved but will truly never be, oh how i love maria in this game.
This ending gives me serious Goodnight PunPun vibes. I feel as if James and Maria's story from this moment on would spiral pretty similarly to PunPun and Aiko.
Years ago when I played the original SH2 on the SH Collection, I got the ending where James leaves Silent Hill with Laura. When I played the remake, I got the same ending as I did with the original SH2. I thought to get different endings you had to beat the game at least once and do a NG+ playthrough. Good to know that's not the case.
If I'm playing a game a few times through, I actually *prefer* getting the bad endings first. That way when it's finally time to get the good endings, you finish playing the game on a good note.
Man, the pre-fight conversation was so heartbreaking. I had issues with how Salóme did throughout as Mary/Maria, but she really nailed the gut-wrenching hurt and betrayal Mary must have felt in this ending. There was so much pain. And James comes off like such a bastard the whole time, you really feel like you're playing the bad guy here when you fight and kill her. I just wanted to give Mary a hug in this scene.
James : "well its happened again, should i kill her (again)?" The ending represence thats James is a Maniac, Sociopath and Psycopath, he never care about his Wife
I am surprised by amount of people judging James. Not everyone is absolute Saint with unlimited patience and love for chronically sick person. Should you ruin your life and sanity over partner, child or parent? For years? Until you try it yourself, don't judge.
@@36drummer09 it’s implied that it was something more akin to euthanasia than murder. Mary did want the pain to end. Despite that however, James didn’t do it for her, he did it for himself.
From what I understand, the town is still trying to tell James he needs to face the truth. Mary here is manifested as angry- and she holds every right to be because James is replacing her with a delusion. Maria herself still hands James' Mary's letter despite being contrary to her goal- she is still a manifestation of the town even if she feels emotions. So, James will end up killing Maria and go through this lesson again until he gets it right.
4:22 (SPOILERS) Luke Roberts says “Better do something about that cough” without the “You” at the start. It makes it vague who James is talking to, he could be saying “You”, “I’d” or “We” better do something about that cough. Honestly it’s kind of lame that the subtitles add in the “You” at the start. I think this is a stroke of genius from the actor that works beautifully the way I see it.
I can see people say it's a good and bad ending. Let's start talking about Maria being portrayed as Mary Maria is considered a real person. Yes, she may have died 3 times. Those 3 times were significantly showing how James couldn't save her wife. The first part was James trying to hold onto the door for Maria to come in. That would be similar to Mary, where James tried everything in his best of his ability to save Mary but as the second part of Maria death. We can see that Maria died in the hospital bed suggesting that Mary did not survive that at all, no matter the fact. And last death was two guy of Pyramid. One pyramid hasn't stabbed Maria, but the other pyramid has stabbed Maria. This implies that James killed his wife due to cough disease. James can't barely withstand to watch this awful disease that is killing his wife constantly slowly by slowly so instead. To remove the pain, James shoots or stabs his wife, making him feel less guilt but no remorse within him. Overall, we can see that James has not learned his mistake but still continues down this path, which makes him continue the cylindrical cycle over and over. Now let's talk about good and bad starting with Bad. Bad: As we can see, Mary confronts James by saying that you killed me, suggesting that James hated her as what she looked like. James can't bear or cope with the fact that she is getting worse. also suggests that James killed her because he has no choice. James did say that I'm tired, but actually, it was just his mental ability and his thoughts that made him kill his wife. So all this was nothing to do with Maria. Maria is using Mary as a portrayed to explained the situation that James has gone through. Mary died 3 years ago and has stated in the intro part. Although, yes, Laura gave James the letter that Mary is still alive, Mary is dead no matter what. A lot of people would say that Laura has seen Mary in the hospital, but the question is if Laura knows Mary, then why did Mary haven't told about Laura? Or why didn't James remember that there was a little girl in hospital when he was there beside his wife? This is the question that everyone should be thinking. Anyways from that point, James meets Maria, who is somewhat to be real. James does feel depressed because of what he has been through. It would be very understandable because everyone in this world has gone through that phase where they see someone that they love and they can't get it out of their mind. I know for fact. To the part where James was opening the car, James uses dark tone voice by saying, "You better get your cough checked out," suggesting that he has no sympathy which can also lead to repeated cycles. BUT!!!!! There is something I want to add extra to the story, but let's talk about good and then talk about the extra story. Good: The good part is that both James and Maria are still alive. They are not dead. The game hasn't stated that both are dead. In a sense, James and Mary can continue their normal life out of the Silent Hill somewhere far away from Silent Hill, probably to a different city or different country. Who knows? Extra contents: Yes, everyone may think that Maria coughing and James doesn't care can be considered as bad ending but people have their own opinion. For me, I believe deep down within his heart I can only feel James heart that James cares about Maria more than Mary at this rate. Yes, he seems depressed but after what he has gone through and what he has heard, it's not easy to forget what he has witnessed and heard from Mary. At least, Maria is the only good person who hadn't hurt James that much. In fact, Maria tried to save James life by telling him the right path. Again, James can still change. The story is inevitable. The story is endless. It's not about *What* or *How* or *why* or *how*. It's about *Who*. James is the protagonist. HE is the one who can change the story. James CAN save Maria from the cough. All James has to do is take to somewhere better city that has better doctor or better medical service. I know the story is taken in the 19th century, but cough medicine was invented around 1946 - 1985, which means that within those years, James can still save Maria by going to a different city. I would love to continue talking about this but I would love to save this for my own story. My own story would be James and Maria going to different city to find doctor who can save Maria life. I would love to do Aftermath story for Maria and James. I don't care what people think about it. I think it would be unique idea to create their own story about James and Maria. Anyways thanks for reading my opinion.
Except for the fact that he didn’t kill his wife because she was in pain, he killed her because he hated her and who she had become and he wanted to move on and live his life without her. That’s why he feels such guilt. He killed her with selfish intentions. It had nothing to do with putting her out of her misery.
I mean I understand your POV but he hurted Mary due to the fact that he was fed up with her, not due to the fact that he wanted to release her from her own misery. Also, that ending is more often depicted bad/good due to these stuff: Good: Maria is alive, and James is alive Bad: Maria is not real, yes, she existed somehow in the Born from a Wish part that happens before Silent hill 2, but also there are 2 reasons that can MYBE explain why she exists. Number 1. Silent hill created her, and somehow she has more control over her then any other created entity, there are no real evidences of why is that, there are theories but Im not so sure about them. Number 2. the production team mybe wanted to give more context about her since fans loved her. But initially, Maria is just PART of James guilt. She is here to drive his mind around, to make him forget why is he here, not because she is bad, but because his mind does that to HIMSELF, he is gaslighting himself that Mary is alive and everything is fine, but somehow he knows there is more to it, and his trauma caused Maria to happen. In opposite from Mary, Pyramide head exists, to remind James OF his gulit, and Silent hill creating horrors based on the events that James himself did, is focing him to take the guilt fully. Now onto the endings The Maria ending IS BAD. In Leave ending, we can see James being honest to Mary, fully taking accountability for his actions, while in Maria ending, he says that he did it for the different reasons, which is a lie, and Mary herself has to tell him that he in fact, he hurted her because he was fed up with her. Him choosing Maria just means he wants her for the visual reasons, her being sensual, pretty, flirty and emotionally gentle, while Mary lost her beauty due to the sickness. Mary is everything that Maria is not, so why does James still feels like something is missing?? In the end he is cold to the Maria, cuz he is STILL aware that, even tho he got what he wanted, it is just not right. He knows Maria is just a creation in his mind that is driving him even MORE insane because now, his perfect Maria is also sick. He knows the outcome, however he still tries to deny it by saying that : She should check that cough. He ignores her, because he knows that the loop will continue again, and due to him choosing her for the superficial reasonings, he is in fact NOT in love with her. He will continue to be in loop until he fully accepts that he killed Mary...however the more he is in loop the more he will spiral... Also, the Maria deaths are part of the James guilt yet again. Pyramide head kills Mary because he want to remind James of his actions...so that he will not stray away. Pyramide head is also his creation, kind of the moral part of him, which means that James is pratically killing Maria, not only that, but the fact that the way that Maria dies also gives good message of what happened to Mary. First time Maria dies she is getting killed by Pyramide head, the other times she basically dies alone on hospital bed, it gives the message that James left Mary to struggle with her sickness, and third time she was killed by beingstrapped in similar way like Mary did in her last boss fight, only this time Pyramide head kills her again but in front of the James, not like in first part where he killed her from the back, really giving the message to James that in fact, HE DID IT, and he should take the FULL CREDIT of his action. James in Maria ending is leaving alone, with his mind being in absolute havoc...and until he admits his deeds, he will continue coming back to Silent hill.... (omg srry I wrote so much lol, this is kind of MY VIEW of that Maria ending, and ik its different the yours, but either way I love your take on these stuff!)
That's weird, I platined the game and when I got the Maria Ending I didn't have this cutscene before the boss fight, I only had the regular interaction with Maria (which I believe didn't make any sense) but now that I see this I'm wondering if it was a glitch or simply because I didn't fully commited to the Maria Ending Run but had done enough to get the Maria Ending Cinematic, I don't know

1:56 okay so “can she?” Is obviously referring to Maria but in the other endings, like leave or water, Maria is impersonating Mary. The Maria ending implies that there’s two people but what I don’t understand is that the other endings James realizes that Mary is Maria in the end. So is Maria and Mary two people or the same person?
If the rumors of his being stuck in an endless loop are true, then I can only surmise that the UAP ending is the only TRUE ending as the power of an alien force from outside this world is the only force strong enough to break James free from the bonds of the loop. That's MY theory anyway. lol
While the voice acting is objectively better, it still doesn't match to the direction of the original, that music kicking in when James says, "It was a long three years ... I was tired" and you just feel him slipping back into his delusion.
I love how in this ending instead of giving her nuance they made her a monolith the real mary couldn't possibly stand up to a simple maiden helpless and dying murdered by her cold selfish husband who only wanted another floozy blonde woman but in the leaving silent hill ending he acknowledges his mistakes his wrongful behavior and feelings and she reciprocates and gives him the letter the real mary anyway
Notice how she tries to hold James' hand, he pulls away, and then she immediately coughs to get his attention. It's possible Mary was faking the sickness just to garner affection from James. Man this game has so many subtle complexities to it.
@@mr.hashundredsofprivatepla3711 I think Maria was clearly faking in this particular scene but it also makes me wonder if it’s possible that Mary was faking her illness the whole time.

I like the remake overall, but this ending is kinda awful on both a story and an execution front. Has less context than the original incarnation (they cut the conversation between Maria and James in the park for some reason, and it makes him seem even more callous as a result) and you don't even get to read Mary's letter because I guess James doesn't give enough of a toss to. I got this ending on my first playthrough and was pretty annoyed lol, apparently it's hard to get. They should have added in an extra scene or two or SOMETHING because it just comes off as lazy.

This version of James completely missed the delivery of "you better do something about that cough" line. In original game the way James said that sounded sincere, forboading, almost as if he realizes what's about to happen. Here he sounds annoyed and pissed.
The new actor for James didn't "miss" the delivery, he just took a different approach--and one that still works. The original was more ominous, whereas this one was more cold and angry. This new delivery works because it speaks to how his feelings of hatred for Mary for being a burden on his life while she was sick are re-surfacing as soon as he hears Maria's cough. It has this cold, angry, "Ugh, God, not this shit again"-feeling to it that lacks any compassion. It's scary, because it's almost foreshadowing that he could end up killing Maria just like he killed Mary. Seeing as the central point of the "Maria" ending was that James didn't learn anything and didn't grow as a person, this new delivery still speaks to the theme of the ending, and still works exceptionally well.
I don't understand why people think it's a bad ending, it seems like a good ending to me. James abandons Mary after realizing she is dead and decides to try to live a happy life again this time with Maria. For me it's like a second chance even though it doesn't look good. I got the bad ending where he commits suicide after talking to himself, that is a bad ending even though it fits well with the plot. For me, the endings that I liked the most were when he commits suicide alone without Mary talking to him in the car, the second where he gets into the recording with Mary and pretends that nothing is happening, and the third is when he leaves Silent Hill with María.
it's a bad ending because maria's got the sickness just like mary, and james has learned absolutely nothing, coldly telling her she 'better do something about that cough'
Bro, I have zero clue what the mass appeal behind this game is, it's convoluted story was so long, confusing, and drawn out, that I just couldn't deal. The prison part made me just give up entirely. The key hunt, brain numbing puzzles, and the overall droning length of the game is the worst. Definitely wouldn't recommend buying.
If she is his hallucination, she can be with James forever. Most people seem to agree that this ending reflects the fact that James learned little from his ordeal and he's just gonna repeat the whole nightmare with Maria, as she gets sick and he presumably has to kill her again. Now, if she's just in his head, he's probably just gonna end up in a mental hospital. I also thought that maybe Maria could be some kind of golem created by the town. Although, in order for that to be true, it would imply that there's a lot more supernatural elements to the story than just a mass delusion on part of James. Definitely not the first to say it, but its very interpretable.
This ending is not good. He didnt learn anythin. He justifies killing his wife. And it just shows you what his priorities are. Lust. James casually moving on from mary onto maria and him saying “ you better do something about that cough” implies he will do the same thing to her.
After that James will be coming back for Marie, Meryam, Marian, Miriam, Mamie, etc.

Brilliant.

You got tuberculosis.
It's a hell of a thing.. real sorry for ya
It's cool they changed the scene to reflect that trailer/intro-exclusive shot of Maria laying down in Heaven's Night from the original.
She sick like mary
maria just a monster, lol next loop it will be marie
man he's such the WORST in this ending bro, Maria's face after he said that has burned into my mind
genuinely breaks my heart, Maria 😭💔she deserved so much better, not even in just this ending just
her existence in general
I feel as if James and Maria's story from this moment on would spiral pretty similarly to PunPun and Aiko.
oh my GOSH you are so right, thanks I hate it!
God Damn u bro,I read whole pun pun manga bc of u and I feel so bad,lol I joking that's manga was good my fault to read it😂
I got this ending on my first playthrough without even trying to go for it... So mad. Pretty bad ending for the first playthrough
Be grateful...this ending is a hard one to acheive.
Only thing I'm happy about. I don't know how I even managed to get it so easily
I broke far too many windows around her to get this ending 🤣
If I'm playing a game a few times through, I actually *prefer* getting the bad endings first. That way when it's finally time to get the good endings, you finish playing the game on a good note.
lol i got this ending without even trying.. FML!
yeah you can't be nice to maria
Credit music after this ending make James look like he Patrick Bateman
the real bad ending
Man, the pre-fight conversation was so heartbreaking. I had issues with how Salóme did throughout as Mary/Maria, but she really nailed the gut-wrenching hurt and betrayal Mary must have felt in this ending. There was so much pain. And James comes off like such a bastard the whole time, you really feel like you're playing the bad guy here when you fight and kill her. I just wanted to give Mary a hug in this scene.
Considering how many holes and toilets James shoved his hand in, it's shocking that both of them aren't sick.
holyshit that sounded so cold :(
James: "better do something about that cough"
::cue HOUSE M.D. theme::
James : "well its happened again, should i kill her (again)?"
The ending represence thats James is a Maniac, Sociopath and Psycopath, he never care about his Wife
I am surprised by amount of people judging James. Not everyone is absolute Saint with unlimited patience and love for chronically sick person. Should you ruin your life and sanity over partner, child or parent? For years? Until you try it yourself, don't judge.
The most wrong anyone has ever been about silent hill 2
I see you never had to take care of a sick loved one.
@@FalconRSI definitely wouldn't kill the person who is sick. Sixkos.
@@36drummer09 it’s implied that it was something more akin to euthanasia than murder. Mary did want the pain to end. Despite that however, James didn’t do it for her, he did it for himself.
So Maria is some kind of demon or spirit that is the representation of what James wanted of his former wife?
Shes born out of his wish as she is the fantasy of a better mary. She is meant to be his torturer
4:22 (SPOILERS)
Luke Roberts says “Better do something about that cough” without the “You” at the start.
Let's start talking about Maria being portrayed as Mary
Maria is considered a real person.
So long,but i read this
Except for the fact that he didn’t kill his wife because she was in pain, he killed her because he hated her and who she had become and he wanted to move on and live his life without her. That’s why he feels such guilt. He killed her with selfish intentions. It had nothing to do with putting her out of her misery.
I mean I understand your POV but he hurted Mary due to the fact that he was fed up with her, not due to the fact that he wanted to release her from her own misery. Also, that ending is more often depicted bad/good due to these stuff:
Good: Maria is alive, and James is alive
Bad: Maria is not real, yes, she existed somehow in the Born from a Wish part that happens before Silent hill 2, but also there are 2 reasons that can MYBE explain why she exists.
Now onto the endings
The Maria ending IS BAD.
That's weird, I platined the game and when I got the Maria Ending I didn't have this cutscene before the boss fight, I only had the regular interaction with Maria (which I believe didn't make any sense) but now that I see this I'm wondering if it was a glitch or simply because I didn't fully commited to the Maria Ending Run but had done enough to get the Maria Ending Cinematic, I don't know
Idc what people say, this is the worst ending
Because of the *"You better do something about that cough"* 💀💀
it was always meant to be the worst ending. Cuz james learns nothing and knows he killed his last wife and will just do it again
@@randomguyontheinternet8345But he didnt kill her.
She was already sick.
He just put her ot of her misery and far less painful way.
@@SeriousDragonify This is murder yes, even if she was sick he still took her life away when she did not want to die
@@SeriousDragonify under the law, that's still murder... that still makes you a murderer no matter what your intentions are. That's why even removing life support on your loved ones on some cases needs a court order.
3:04 what is that song that plays when Maria gets up?
Nobody knows…!
Imo the worst outcome you can get. He stays in his delusion, learns nothing, and on top of that, another woman he would potentially love will fade away before him
I did every single requirement for this ending and still didn’t get it
I just finished the game and got this ending lmao
Same, twice as a matter of fact. i was able achieve every ending but this one.
This is why i prefer leave 😂
This is the real ending.
He should have made it clear that he picked Maria he did an original and they left that out.
I think maria she already died and who is right now is Advil bcs he suspicious about if she is realy maria after he saw her again and she is answered whatever you want ill be she is scare him ithink he took the evil of this twon with him
Could've got divorced.
You mean Maria?
@@mr.hashundredsofprivatepla3711 I think Maria was clearly faking in this particular scene but it also makes me wonder if it’s possible that Mary was faking her illness the whole time.
1st time playing SH2. I got this ending and apparently its the bad one 💀 what did I do wrong ???
You spent so much time with Maria and checked up on her a lot in the hospital/labyrinth prison. You probably used the ripe apple for the mirror puzzle and went through the Scarlet Egg door (after the 2 PH fight), amongst other things...
I beat the game last night and got this ending and man I'm so disappointed lol. It sucks to get this for the first playthrough.
is maria still alive after pyramidhead stabb maria in the running scene?
Spoiler
Maria is created by James’s mind and Pyramid Head is James.
Maria is dead for the time being after Pyramid Head stabs her but she is “born” again and again, which explains how she comes back to life.
I follow the powerpyx guide and got the maria ending which I aim too in my first playthrough 😂 definitely going to get a different ending on my new game plus with a chainsaw tbh I think maria ending fit so well to my personality instead of just being sad & broken hey at least I got a new waifu definitely a plus 👌😂😂 & kudos to bloober to recapture that's atmosphere back just like re 2 remake cheers 🥂
I got the In Water ending without trying. What does that say about my personality? 💀
A waifu?? Lol did you know maria is a silent hill monster that eventually will transform and kill James and probably some innocent people too?? But first I think that she will get sick and act strange.. like no sleep and just be standing looking at James while he is sleeping or moving hers arms antinatural
James is bringing to real world a silent hill monster!!! A true SCP
i can’t believe people like you play these type of games, you didn’t understand anything
@@930ygs3That's why this ending exists, right? It's a manifestation of the player's own psyche in the context of the game's character. The player learned nothing, so the consequence for the character plays out in-game.
Real mary
Good game btw
I like the remake overall, but this ending is kinda awful on both a story and an execution front.
Has less context than the original incarnation (they cut the conversation between Maria and James in the park for some reason, and it makes him seem even more callous as a result) and you don't even get to read Mary's letter because I guess James doesn't give enough of a toss to.
I got this ending on my first playthrough and was pretty annoyed lol, apparently it's hard to get. They should have added in an extra scene or two or SOMETHING because it just comes off as lazy.
peak romantic ending
Why are you guys assuming that he will kill maria too just because he mentioned the cough? It can be just a funny reference. you know, just to make the ending more special.
Is this where the LOOP theory came from? If yes, then its fvcking stupid.
How to keep maria alive from getting killed by pyramid head
You can't.
They changed the dialogue too much in this ending.
My god just bag it
@@penultimania4295 no, you bag it,dmfk
@@penultimania4295 fucking tourists, goddamn zoomers can't play something that's even 5 years old, and then have the audacity to talk down to people who actually like and critique good art
So Water ending is bad, and this is the good one? you have to be joking
there is no real "good ending" but the best ending you could probably get is the leave ending
@@CR0WLAS Of course leave ending is the best ignoring the fact that Mary body is in the back seat, would love to see how Laura would react to that.
Maria isn’t even real..
Its a bad ending because he gives into his delusions meaning he learned nothing. Maria’s not real
Come on, think a little bit harder and you will understand.
This ending is good imo, it shows that James finally stopped moping around and got over his wife's death after all and is willing to move on with his life, "You better do something about that cough" implies that he somewhat learned his lesson and so now he can treat Maria's disease before it's too late so it's not necessarily a vicious cycle
There's also the implication that she's an hallucination but if she is wouldn't she vanish as soon as they leave Silent Hill? It would suck for James but he still learned something from his venture, stating otherwise would be dumb
