Great guide, thanks! I'm a little annoyed that I finally decided on this scheme like two days before GW revealed the Skaventide box, so now it feels like I'm just copying GW rather than choosing it myself lol. I already have an army of golden boy custodes so wanted something different. I haven't started yet cause I figured there would be great guides like this to help, excited to start now!
@@ThePaintingCoachThanks for this. Not sure why I only now found your video, but apart from some of the colours, why do the Ruination Chamber look too similar to the Hallowed Knights and, if you looked at the new Skaven, their painting scheme look a bit similar to Clan Mors. Just saying, so I thought to do a bit of research and become inspired by designing my own with some of the original colours on the miniatures.
Another great video, I'm interested to know what else was done to the base to finish this off and what tufts you've used please. I always struggle to decide on how to base my models.
Thanks - tufts are from army painter - unfortunately I don't have the slip to say exactly which ones they are - I think they are the lowland shrubs. Otherwise it is just mud paste with a drybrush of steel legion drab and karak stone
These look really great. For some reason some of the whites, like on the shoulder pad, look like they could use a bit of oomph to them maybe. I know you’re just doing army scheme, but I wonder what room for enhancements there might be , if any ! Thanks I will be referencing this when I get my hands on my skaventide box
Cheers - probably adding some more depth to them - there isn't quite the depth in plastic moulding so you would need to paint in some of the recesses with a darker grey
@@ThePaintingCoach Cheers mate. A darker grey recess is a good shout and probably what I am imagining. Though I suppose it could take away from the pristine white finish you've achieved, so I see how your scheme worked out great! I actually was excited to see you use TTC metallics for the gold, and I think I will grab a pot of White Gold since you show how it complements them.
Really loving that Dark Earth basing texture you used as well, by the way! Tempted to try it out now. How does it compare to Stirland mud? I've tried so many and the only one I've been excited to use is Armageddon dust, simply because it comes out of the pot and goes on so silky smooth but appear to dry as a standard texture like the rest, not a cracked effect or anything like I would expect from the consistency. Some of the super gooey/dry ones aren't as fun to apply and takes a lot longer IMO lol. Something about Armageddon Dust where it just flows across the base and dries great, anything else like this you know of ?
Hi, great video! Is the Chrome color you use the Model Air Chrome (17ml) or Metal Color Chrome (32ml)? Also, do you have a recommendation for a vallejo color that can be used to highlight Retributor Armor? I got the starter paint set when I started collecting, but prefer Vallejo colors now.
It's Vallejo Model Air Chrome - I'm afraid I don't know the vallejo paints too well. Anything that is a lighter gold should work, or you can add a little silver into the base gold
Hey coach! Great video but i must ask, is the helmet attactched to the body like the vindictors? I was planning on giving my liberators a head swap and wanted to know beforehand
There is another youtuber called Painting coach and I got very confused here since this was about 40k minis and you're using acrylics instead of oils. Took me way too long to figure out that he didnt randomly develop a British accent and you were someone else

+1 for fellow Stormcast/Custodes bro
Can't wait to give this a go!
Cheers! Let me know how you get on!
Great video! Nice mixture of paints and a cracking result. Diolch! Subscribed!
Diolch!
Looks amazing 😮 I really like the blue added to the armour and hammers 👍🏻
Thanks!
Awesome tutorial. Thank you for this video.
Glad you liked it!
at the beginning I"m like "I can do this!" by the end I'm like this is amazing and there is no way I can do this LOL.
Looking good.
Cheers!
These are so clean 🤌🏻
Cheers man

I think each storm host has their own ruination chamber - hence thr colour scheme being similar
Great vid Lloyd ^^
Cheers Heather 👍🏻
Amazing tutorial! Can’t wait to get my box, will you also make an guide for the Skaven?
Yes I'll do something 👍🏻
Love the outcome!
But do you have a good other white option for 'bold titanium white'? (Citadel one)
Thanks - white scar is the citadel equivalent
i have no interest in AoS, but i love your content. this was a good watch. the glowing affect was really cool
Thanks!
nul oil in the shoulders for the white parts improve the mini 50%! try next time!

@@ThePaintingCoach Thank you, can't wait to give this a try as wanted to paint Stormcasts as Hallowed Knights for ages.

Gosh these are pretty. I can't get in to another wargame but this video doesn't half tempt me.
Thanks!

Odd question - i thought the color forge spray was also a primer, it isnt?
It is - I find metallic colour primers work better over a flat colour like black or brown however
Are there any parts that are black other than behind the legs? It’s difficult to tell from the video.
You can see some of the undersuit around the neck socket and also the elbows and under arms
Me: Still torn between Anvils of Heldenhammer, Hallowed Knights or going OG Hammers of Sigmar
But Inlov these models

No there are 2 head options - bare and helmet. Check my box preview video for the sprues etc :)

Welsh accent, by the way. There's no such thing as a "British accent" really
