I did something similar when i was sick enough not to work, healthy enough to paint and seen this as opportunity to rush my 9th edition lizardman army build: Monday: assembly, black prime, white drybrush + most of Carnosaur Thursday - rest of carnosaur + skink priest Wednesday - 3x krox + 3 saurus temple guards Thursday - 6 saurus Friday and weekend - play! But it was endurance run that for weeks made me feel sick at even slightest thought about painting mini. And im not as good painter as you, those minis have really good details!
Just picked up the sylvaneth spearhead box, gorgeous models but jeez they are fiddly to build! Looking forward to get some games in once the new book drops
Me sitting at my ossiarch bonereaper spearhead for 2 months already 😂 i have been sick for 2 weeks, thanks corona, took me 5 days to build the models, priming, some days off not working on them ... and yeah, i have 1 model painted and started working on all the other ones... so ill probably be done in .... 6 months maybe? 😂 An skaventide is on its way 🙈
Awesome video! My son just picked up his first test models (orruks) and thus I will probably have to get my own spearhead to play with him. This video will be of great help when that day comes.
I love this content mate, nice to see you doing other things alongside your great tutorials. Also you’re getting more confident in front of the camera which is great 💪🏼
If I had to do an army in a box in 5 days, I’d likely end up picking up Cities of Sigmar. Literally split between them and nighthaunt, but the cool ass ghosts look to daunting to paint quickly
The ghosts are much easier unless you have a recipie. Cities have tons of bits. Plus less uniform models meaning probably more paint variety will be wanted.
I've tried blending and was horrible at it; stuff ended up a bloody mess. This technique with contrast paint and medium looks like something even I can master.
Love this video, Coach. I know it's not your bread and butter, but I for one, would love to see some more content like this to help us mere mortals get our armies on the table.
Thanks! Bit of super glue on them, but for a better bond you can scrape the paint off and use plastic glue. I tend not to seal my models after painting
@@ThePaintingCoach thanks so much for both answers, I might opt to scrape some off to avoid the frosting of super glue. I'm also relieved to hear that a professional painter such as yourself doesn't worry about sealing as I had no idea how to do it!
I use VMS versions in my airbrush - I'd say if you play a lot, then it might be worth it - now and again you should be fine - I'm weary of using can versions, but found Tamiya to be the best
Well done! Quick question, can vanguard boxes be used for spearhead? I have a nighthaunt vanguard fully painted and ready for the table but I don’t want to have to buy another box 😢
I’m sure it’s been asked many times, but can someone tell me what that backdrop/workmat with the mixing ratios on it is and where I can buy one at?? Please and thank you in advance 🤙🏻🤙🏻
I really like the bases, it's a simple but cool look. Would you mind if I asked how you made'em? (don't worry, you don't have to make a video about it :> )
Nice job! It's about as good as speedpaibt gets. I couldn't have my beloved cold bloods at this quality, but it's great for anyone wanting to hit the table asap.
Some people don't have much time to paint and even painting in this manor is weeks and months of work for them (I'm one of them). Doesn't mean I don't enjoy painting but I also want to have some units finished for when my friends ge sometimes.
Everyone paints differently. Taking your time doesn't necessarily mean you will paint it better or enjoy it more. It can be rewarding and motivating to finish a project rather than it drag on for a long time.
I don’t enjoy painting, at least not enough to spend a lot of time on it. Speedpainting is the only way to make it enjoyable. Thank God for Contrast paints. Without them my pile of shame would be much larger.
I mean, define army? Like a full on 2k point list? If you don't have any life responsibilities, sure, don't see why not, but even then, I don't like having that tight of a deadline hanging over me in hobby matters, I took over a month to get my deathguard combat patrol finished, way less stress that way
Yeah, you could, but why? You would just have spent a ton of money on an expensive box just to make it look mid. ( I know you got it for free, I'm talking about a regular player) I would much rather take the time to make the models look as good as I can make them. They don't need to be complete to play. James workshop won't crash through the window if you play with models you're still working on.
Can you paint in 5 days with contrast paint? Obviously... yes. Squidmar etc do it with opaque in 24 hours lol... of course you can do it with contrast.
Congratulations! They look great! Right now I am finishing 3 Slaangors for my Slaansh Spearhead. Can't wait to play Spearhead.
Im hoping to start a seraphon army here soon and this video has been the most helpful one I've found for methods and techniques
Cheers!

An skaventide is on its way 🙈
Just started building mine, dreaming up colourful paint schemes. So many options!
thats the box I'm most interested in! Haven't played AoS but did preorder the Skaventide box.
I'm a big fan of the models
Awesome video! My son just picked up his first test models (orruks) and thus I will probably have to get my own spearhead to play with him. This video will be of great help when that day comes.
Awesome 👍🏻
i’m tempted to pick these guys up, this has been the best advert and demo on contrast paints
Normal paint looks much better on them. But yeah of conteast is knly option.
Wow. Beautiful painting. Amazing for such a short time when I use contrast paints a lot of the time it just looks terrible
Awesome to see simple painting techniques executed well to great effect.
I can't wait to paint this spearhead using this tutorial.
I love this content mate, nice to see you doing other things alongside your great tutorials. Also you’re getting more confident in front of the camera which is great 💪🏼

Finishing my Gloomspite Gitz Spearhead right now with the Rockgut Troggoths!

Great work! You sparked my itch to paint my Seraphon spearhead!
Corax White remains champion
Amazing mate!
Thanks!
I've tried blending and was horrible at it; stuff ended up a bloody mess. This technique with contrast paint and medium looks like something even I can master.
Good luck!
Well done! Are you planning to make more AoS painting tutorials?
Yes - I have quite a few on the channel already :)
I'm trying aos for the first time and this video is perfect, what brushes do you use ?
Love this video, Coach. I know it's not your bread and butter, but I for one, would love to see some more content like this to help us mere mortals get our armies on the table.
I literally just painted this Seraphone box in 6 days getting ready for 4th edition lmao
Amazing results in record time!
Can I ask how you attached the sub assembled bits together and whether you normally seal your models after painting?
Thanks! Bit of super glue on them, but for a better bond you can scrape the paint off and use plastic glue.
I tend not to seal my models after painting
@@ThePaintingCoach thanks so much for both answers, I might opt to scrape some off to avoid the frosting of super glue.

No problem 👍🏻
You can use varnish if you want to - gloss for a gard coat and then matt to take the shine off
@@ThePaintingCoach thanks for the tip! I'm assuming that's brush on, would you say it's worth doing particularly on the whole?
I use VMS versions in my airbrush - I'd say if you play a lot, then it might be worth it - now and again you should be fine - I'm weary of using can versions, but found Tamiya to be the best

If it’s the same models then yeh! If not, could proxy for some practice games of spearhead 🙂 rules will be free on launch
I think so - they are rebranding vanguard to spearhead.
This is the Nighthaunt one: www.warhammer.com/en-WW/shop/spearhead-nighthaunt-2024
@@ThePaintingCoachah ok i see, it looks like it’s the same as the vanguard then! Thank you!!!
Seraphon (lizardmen!) are the coolest guys, aztec dinosaurs
What basing materials did you use ?
It's a base ready mix from geek gaming - I believe it is called forest ground
More seraphon please ❤
I’m sure it’s been asked many times, but can someone tell me what that backdrop/workmat with the mixing ratios on it is and where I can buy one at?? Please and thank you in advance 🤙🏻🤙🏻
It's a Redgrass Games cutting mat 👍🏻 available at redgrassgames.com
5 days 💪🏻.
Nice a new Army!
Plus mental breakdown 🥲 not so nice.
Fab video....but could you do it with Lumineth 😢😂😅
Think I need a few weeks off 🤣
Very cool
I really like the bases, it's a simple but cool look.
Would you mind if I asked how you made'em? (don't worry, you don't have to make a video about it :> )
It's a mixed flock from geek gaming scenics base ready series called forest I think. You just put PVA on the base and dip it in
@@ThePaintingCoach That sounds convenient. I'll give it a look, I like that look.
Thanks for taking the time to answer, have a good one!
you had my sub at foo fighters , and great work for 5 days, gave me a few ideas .
Thanks!
fantastic!
The bases! By Sigmar, how did you accomplish the bases?
It's a basing mix from Geek Gaming - I think it is called Forest Floor
@@ThePaintingCoach Krautcover has amazing basing mixes too
Looks more like taiga hillside
Nice job! It's about as good as speedpaibt gets. I couldn't have my beloved cold bloods at this quality, but it's great for anyone wanting to hit the table asap.
da iawn
Elmers glue is a better white than GW
You can but why would you? Take your time and have fun painting.
Not everyone enjoys painting
Looks like he did it for the warhammer community website. Probably got* the box for free, lol.

With wife and kids? No…😂
I have a patient wife and 2 dogs - who don't really care 🤣
Lol you can do it ind 1 day if you wont to

Spoiler alert you can do it with out contrast as well.
