  • Hey guys welcome back to my channel. First of all I want to thank everyone who has subscribed to me, I wouldn’t have guessed that my channel would have grown this quick. Like I’m even monetised now so its great that I can finally earn a little compensation for the work I put into my content.
    A large reason for that success is my video the orishas explained. It was meant to be a one of video, I even said I expected it get like 10 views, but it ended up being my greatest hit and it’s the reason why many of you subscribed.
    But anyways I’ve decided to create a continuation of that video In order to address some questions and inaccuracies on my part.
    As well talk about some other orishas

      I am from Cuba so my ancestry is both of colonizer (Spanish) and colonized (Yoruba and Taino), it truly grinds my gears to hear people in the Hispanic areas of the Caribbean not respect the religions of their ancestors. While I don't believe in santeria (the Cuban version of the Yoruba religion) I have the upmost respect for those in my family that still follow and respect the culture of their ancestors. It is incredibly sad that I have so little knowledge left of the Taino people's culture, so I am very glad at least this part of my country's ancestry can be preserved.

      That's exactly right! There was the 42 negative confessions, which was a daily spiritual practice, and not a religious obligation. We were accountable for our own choices, and confessed daily "what we won't do", as opposed to " what thou shalt not do".;)

    Hey my son,
    blessings to you for sharing the knowledge of the orishas with your generation/audience. More grease to your elbow. Those who criticise your project as "demonic" need help to free their minds, sadly we have millions of them in the Yoruba/Nigerian diaspora. Silence is the best answer to a fool, so just completely ignore them.
    I know a fair amount about the Orishas but this is the first time I am learning about the colours associated with the less known Orishas.
    Just one suggestion. If you can, get your parents or any other native Yoruba speaker to coach you with some of the more tricky pronunciation. When you said the name of the Orisha Ajé ( Ajé also means commerce/trade etc) it sounded like Àjẹ́ (witch). In the great scheme of things, this is utterly insignificant. Once more, well done!

    I am American Catholic from Puerto Rican parents. There's plenty of Santeria in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic which borders Haiti. Marie Catherine Laveau (September 10, 1801 - June 15, 1881) was a famous and powerful Vodoo priestess and became even more powerful because of her Cuban friend who was into Santeria. Santeria is from Nigeria and Voddo is from the Congo. New Orleans and the Dominican Republic have powerful combinations of Santeria mixed with Vodoo. In Brazil, Santeria is called Condomble or Macumba. New York City has a high concentration of Santerains. Our stores where one can buy herbs, spices, ingredients, candles, saints, and have readings and blessings by a Santeria Priest is called a BOTANICA and there are many of them in New York City. A Santeria priest is called a Santero for a man and a Santera for a woman. Most Botanicas in New York City are owned by Puerto Ricans, Dominicans, Cubans, and Brazilians. A very famous Santera lives in New York City. Her name is Migene Whippler-Gonzalez. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Migene_Gonz%C3%A1lez-Wippler There is also a very famous movie about Santeria filmed in New York City in 1986 about Santeria and it stars Martin Sheen and Robert Logia. ua-cam.com/video/6-NmMuukdYE/v-deo.html

    Hello. This video is fantastic.
    I began watching the video due to my curiosity for my ancestry. I'm from the Caribbean, specifically Puerto Rico and my family including myself are all of African heritage, and this may sound embarrassing to me but I have no clue about which African heritage I'm from. And to even ask about this here is even more embarrassing. However after being met by specific people who have come across me, to my surprise they told me that I should begin searching for my ancestors and one of them told me specifically that I should look for my 7 African ancestors because according to her, they've been protecting me for a long time. Still I'm having difficulties in understanding it.
    My question is could or are the 7 African ancestors The Orishas?
    Thank you.

      @regieste8812 Рік тому

      Hello Nephren. I think it's wonderful that you are researching into your ancestry. I am also from PR. I suggest that you find a Santero/a that can give you a reading to help explain that to a more detail. We all have a guardian angel or Orisha that we have made a spiritual contract before we came to earth. With a reading g they can tell you who is your head Orisha. With an ITA reading (which is done before coronation) they can tell you who else is with you and who walk with you. There are also misas that are done before coronation to help find or see who are your spirit guides or ancestors that will be walking the path with you. Hope this helps. It's a beautiful and blessed religion that has helped me find my purpose and help others along the way. 🤍🙏

      @karmel drizzle tv Sango wasn’t a human, he is an orisa or irunmole like we Yorubas call him. • @carolpacheco1052
      @carolpacheco1052 2 роки тому +2

      At least here in Brazil, they are associated because the Yorubas, who were brought as slaves, were forbidden to worship the orixás, so this mixture was a way they found to worship them in strange lands.
