      Doug Polk Poker will you join forces with Ike, Sauce and Jungle to rematch the bot if it wins?

    • @chrisarksey
      @chrisarksey 7 років тому +1

      Shoving must be a way to abuse the bot no? For example if you play 1000 hands standard and then shove 90%+ hands pre/post flop the algo might take some time to average out your new playing style (develop a trend) and might just fold out unless it has premium holdings worth calling an all-in (minimal likelihood).
      If you find out how long it takes the bot to develop a new trend in your play style you can abuse it for trendlength-1 and then go back to standard play and repeat.

      Good point. It would have to be good AI to catch on quickly enough.

    • @chrisarksey
      @chrisarksey 7 років тому

      Same AI program vs same AI program I would think would end up with eqeual stacks after an infinite # of hands. This is why human players try to deviate their play styles to not be predictable.
      So I would assume the way an AI would be programmed would be part "I know how to play standard...pot odds etc" and part "I know how you play given hand history". The second part would be the edge and this reading of the other player would have to be able to adapt relatively quickly to changes in an opponents behaviour to prevent the bot from behind exploited...I just don't think it could adapt very quickly especially if you limit the amount of times you let the bot see your cards at show down.
      If I were Doug I'd record the hands the went to showdown (hands the bot would be 100% confident in how the hand played out - where the bot heavy weighting will be on its perception of Doug) and get an idea of how the bot think doug plays. For example if every time Doug got to showdown and had the nuts he called called and went all in...if would have basically taught the bot to fold - giving him good odds on a bluff line in a later streak. I think a call and turn all-in the bot wouldn't read as much into and would be less of a bluff line for doug on a future hand.

    That hand with Sauce. I put him on exactly 65o. I thought maybe 65 diamonds, but then I thought he'd probably get it in on turn with that hand, so the line he took... only 65 made sense. People take the lead and jam rivers like Sauce did with missed draws. Calling a hand with ace high on that flop and turn, then jamming ace river didn't make sense. I like Doug's read and great call there on the river with KT. My mind was blown with Doug's amazing Pokertracker results as well... way to go Doug!

    • @BlueEyesWhiteBoy
      @BlueEyesWhiteBoy 7 років тому

      Me too, I snapped it. There are 119 straight draws alone, and he rarely has a non ace pair here like Doug said. Pretty clear call with the price and the read, and the hand. It looks like he is trying to make it look like he is repping the ace with his c/c, c/c line. 56 is also more likely than other draws because it's a mandatory lead as played to get hands like T high, 9 high, and 7 high to fold, and he can still put US on a draw. Admittedly (at least I think), if Doug had opened the hand up with a darker, more disappointed voice, I likely would of felt differently about the hand as it went to the river because of subliminals, and would of assumed he lost with the call. Regardless, if he had a set, you and I would be trying to defend Doug with the call with king high in the comments, and would be told we were exploitable stations, calling too often, etc, or worse, "he is never bluffing here".

    • @martynasmazrimas1536
      @martynasmazrimas1536 6 років тому

      but high stake pros have polarized ranges, they mix shit up every now and then to not be obvious if this is a line he would take with draws and bluffs he has to take the same line with some two pairs and sets as well even some aces.

I bet and hope you are planning a brains vs ai summary video. here is another idea: several shorter poker hands, same video, of tough spots for the humans vs the bot. what would be really interesting here is some of the unorthodox spots like when the bot is 2-5x ing the pot on the turn and river.

    A friend and I were playing heads-up texas hold-em. She had $21 left in her stack. I had $229. The blinds were $16/32 and she had the button and therefore had the small blind. She put in her $16 small blind and I put in my $32 big blind. She saw her cards and then pushed all-in with her remaining $5. She claimed that I was required to put in an additional $5 so that I'd have $37 invested into the pot even though she was all-in for a total of only $21 invested. She claimed that if she won the hand, she would get my $37 even though she had only begun the hand with a total stack of only $21. I disagreed and said that the most she could win from me was only $21 and that I'd be entitled to have the excess above and beyond my $21 "call" returned to me. She insisted that I would forfeit the full $32 big blind plus the additional $5 she had "raised" to go all-in. Who is right and who is wrong?

    Hey Doug. If you are playing tens of thousands of hands against these people and consistently winning why do they not stop playing you and find a softer opponent? Is it that they feel they have an edge and have just been unlucky or that they are trying to win back what they lost? Or does it take that many hands to realise this in the first place.

    How does this translate to HU hyper? The math is the same but stacks are much shorter there!

    Do you think HUSNG Turbos is a good way to make money and also become better at the game in 2017 Doug? Im looking for a pokerform that allows one to become a lot better but also make reasonable amounts of money(at least 2-3 K$ a month) HUSNG any good?

    If you fold to 3bets 50% of the time, isn't that a pretty big leak? I can just 3bet you to 6bb every hand and only need to win a very small proportion of the hands where you call? Am I missing something? Thanks

    Alot of pros are talking about blockers, like if u have K9, u block AK. Can you really take that into concideration when playing or is that too dangerous? Because then i think, Yeah i block AK so now they dont have it. Any thoughts?

      You think, I have a K, so it's LESS LIKELY they have a K.
      I typically calculate in my head how many combinations of value/bluffs the other player has, so if I didn't have a K, AK (for example) would have 16 combos, but now it only has 12 (3 Kings and 4 Aces).
      I would say that making decisions only because you have a blocker is dangerous. Blockers help you the most if there are 3 to a flush on the board (let's say 3 clubs), and the other guy moves in. If you have the ace of clubs in your hand (but nothing more), you might call because a lot of guys only move in with flushes that have the A (nut flushes), and you block that.
