This is so excellent. I'm really glad this doesn't suck. An instant classic and as good as anything as they've released previously. Also, that guitar part at the start reminds me of Pulp, which is no bad thing

Saw them on SNL and immediately fell in love with the sound. Brings me back to when there were "many" killer bands from the UK making great music - Echo & the Bunnymen, Charlatans UK, James, The Ocean Blue and on & on.

The presentation they had at the Estereo Picnic - Bogotá, Colombia was really GREAT, thanks for that moment of madness and joy. I loved seeing them.
Saw them at Coachella in 2004 (?) First tour. Tens of thousands of people at Coachella but me and 49 other people watching them at a side stage. They looked nervous and inexperienced. Then saw them a year later in Los Angeles in an Echo park club, already much more polished and 300 people. Finally saw them in San Francisco in 2006 and they were on fire, maybe 800 people... then I moved to Dubai and only chance to see them was the farewell movie which played at the Dubai Film festival. Great to see them back and rocking same as ever...

This moment today is our tiny opening in our humanity for each of us to remember our oneness with humanity and that humanity deserves to survive as long as we all accept our oneness. May we all promote love for the generations of today throughout this earth for the generations of the future. For love is a powerful strength of our oneness with humanity and it will survive through the ugliness of hate and hinder the perceived power from hate. Innovating legendary sounds, cool to watch a band like this continually rise. I will be in a deep audio experience in any room rocking out where this music is being played live by these people.
First song that I hear from this band and the experience was amazing, absolutely good. Let's go with more.
We haven't so much as heard from James Murphy in 7 years since LCD dropped This Is Happening, and the VERY first words he has to offer the world are:
"We all know this is nothing."
A swift, immediate comment on the current political climate that all but concedes "I know it's been a while since last we talked, and a lot of s*** has gone down since then, but we can persevere through this."
This track poises itself as a slow-building mammoth picking up momentum with every second, every new sonic sound added to its shape. James Murphy - and LCD Soundsystem, by extension - have always had a way about taking an innocuous song and injecting it with the pathos of the world's current mindset. They have always been on the pulse of understanding human emotion without having to make ham-fisted lyrical references. And in no time does the song spare an inch of itself to establish a staggering velocity with which to say:
"We're here. We're back. Things suck. But we can make it."
And with this track, LCD Soundsystem's return record has catapulted itself to the top of my anticipated albums for 2017.
ACTUALLY the very first words we heard were 'christmas will break your heart'
onewunwon I mean *technically*, but I don't put holiday singles in the same realm as proper studio releases whereas an artist's discography is concerned.
Unless you're Sufjan Stevens, in which case your 2 giant double albums of Christmas music are a hugely important part of your catalogue

I honestly wasn't sure I'd be too excited for a new LCD Soundsystem album in 2017. I like a lot of their songs, but you just never know how a band's gonna be when they come back from a long hiatus, and a lot of bands from LCD's era/scene haven't released any vital music in a long time. But I fucking love these songs! Each day the feeling of anticipation grows, I really feel like this will be one of the biggest and best albums of the year.
