What's really cool, there's guaranteed to be some people in that crowd who have never heard this song before. Imagine that, hearing one of the greatest songs of all time, for the first time, in that environment.
I was one of them and can honestly say it couldn’t have been a more wholesome experience. Dancing around, ale in hand with all of my closest friends under that sunset will be a memory that lasts forever
I'm the guy in the Idles t-shirt at 4:56 LCD Soundsystem are the band of my life, and having the chance to see them at sunset, in the front row, on the most beautiful stage in the world, at the most iconic festival in the world was one of the most amazing gifts life has ever given me. It was incredible how I had the perception that what I was experiencing would remain forever imprinted in my mind and in my heart, right as it was happening and not days later as it often happens. During this song I felt memories of myself as a child and I perceived for a moment what my future could be. Screaming this song with James, and my oldest friends scattered with me in the audience of Glasto will remain forever within me. This was the third time I saw James & co play, and all three times it was magnificent, a triumph of life and tears, the closest thing to what I would like to answer when they ask me "what is music for you?". For those who will be there, see you in the front row at primavera sound 2025, to sing, dance and cry together. Long live Friends. Long live James. Long live LCD Soundsystem.
My best friend and I have spent nearly two decades sticking this on jukeboxes, playing it at the end of parties, requesting it from random DJs. It’s his favourite song of all time. We were arm in arm somewhere near the front as the sun set on us. The sort of memory that can only be made by music.
The atmosphere during this was amazing. People crying, people hugging their friends, big smiles on their faces. One of my Glastonbury highlights for sure
I was there to see this and it could well be the most fabulous, spine tingling and magical moment of my three consecutive Glastonbury festivals. The band were right on it from the start of their performance. With the sun beginning to set and the massive crowd a sea of joy, AMF was the perfect way to bring their set to a finale. Thank you LCD Soundsystem, you were utterly brilliant. PS I'll hit 70 this month and this song more than any other resonates regarding friends still around and those sadly now departed. ❤
I hold firmly that LCD Soundsystem is the coolest and most influentian band of the last 20 years. I had the absolute fortune of randomly tuning into this performance live on the bbc during Glasto. I frequently rewatch the performance and like to remind myself how influential LCD Soundsystem is and will continue to be
I went to this set to simply kill some time ahead of another act I wanted to see later on in the day...Ended up stumbling across the finest act I saw all weekend, incredible with the sun going down. My first ever Glastonbury too, I'll never forget LCD Soundsystem - they've gained a fan for life!!
I was here, with a very good friend coming up as this song hit its peak. The sun slowly going down behind the pyramid, the sea of people and flags moving in unison. It felt like pure happiness just washing over me and that the sun, the stars, time and the universe itself had aligned to put us where we were exactly meant to be at the moment in time. I will never forget it.

I had never listened to LCD until I was at this gig. Now i play this song on alexia every friday night, Saturday and Sunday morning. The mrs hates it, but i love it and the dishes get cleaned alot quicker xx
The most bittersweet song I've ever heard. I stand with my fist raised and spirits souring, with tears pouring down my face. I am laughing and crying. I miss so many people when I listen to this. Humbled. Thank you.
I think for a lot of those people in the crowd they show, the lyrics to this song are going to hit very differently in a decade or two. And that is part of the genius of the song.
LCD gav always been my favorite band, I used to listen to this song in lockdown and it made me think of my friends I met at uni, the moments when I discovered myself from a sheltered upbringing where I felt free and my eyes were wide. Life got tougher but this song stuck. Fast forward to 24 and I listen knowing I met my girlfriend at an LCD gig 22 at Brixton and my mind is grateful for this art.

Nice to see Nancy, James and the all band still performing live. This was great. 🤟
Can’t believe this song has escaped me for as long as it has. How??? It’s elite….
That's how it starts
We go back to your house
You check the charts
And start to figure it out
And if it's crowded, all the better
Because we know we're gonna be up late
But if you're worried about the weather
Then you picked the wrong place to stay
That's how it starts
And so it starts
You switch the engine on
We set controls for the heart of the sun
One of the ways we show our age
And if the sun comes up, if the sun comes up, if the sun comes up
And I still don't wanna stagger home
Then it's the memory of our betters
That are keeping us on our feet
You spent the first five years trying to get with the plan
And the next five years trying to be with your friends again
You're talking 45 turns just as fast as you can
Yeah, I know it gets tired, but it's better when we pretend
It comes apart
The way it does in bad films
Except the part
Where the moral kicks in
Though when we're running out of the drugs
And the conversation's winding away
I wouldn't trade one stupid decision
For another five years of life
You drop the first ten years just as fast as you can
And the next ten people who are trying to be polite
When you're blowing eighty-five days in the middle of France
Yeah, I know it gets tired, only where are your friends tonight?
And to tell the truth
Oh, this could be the last time
So here we go
Like a sales force into the night
And if I made a fool, if I made a fool, if I made a fool
On the road, there's always this
And if I'm sewn into submission
I can still come home to this
And with a face like a dad and a laughable stand
You can sleep on the plane or review what you said
When you're drunk and the kids look impossibly tanned
You think over and over, "Hey, I'm finally dead"
Oh, if the trip and the plan come apart in your hand
You can turn it on yourself, you ridiculous clown
You forgot what you meant when you read what you said
And you always knew you were tired, but then
Where are your friends tonight?
Where are your friends tonight?
Where are your friends tonight?
If I could see all my friends tonight
If I could see all my friends tonight
If I could see all my friends tonight
If I could see all my friends tonight
