This came out a few weeks after my wife died. LCD Soundsystem was one of her favorite bands, and she was so excited they were coming back. This song will never not make me cry.
I got tears in my eyes after reading this. I’m sorry about your wife. This is truly the two or yours’ song.
♥️
oh baby
Sorry to hear. Be well and always remember.
Sorry about your loss. 😢
He’d rather be nowhere with her, than somewhere without her.
Great comment! :)
(Insert crying emoji here)
Ricky Gervais from After Life?
Ahmed A only took 9 months for someone to notice 😂 still think it fits well with the video tho
Lewis Pritchard me too, if we are talking about Sissy Spacek
I love how they blurred out the equation, which says to me they actually solved teleporting and couldn't let the secret out. That's true cinematic commitment right there.

Hands down one of the best music videos I have ever seen.

I cried everytime I see it
Wow!! I'd heard the song before, and loved it. This video adds so many beautiful layers to an already beautiful song. Absolutely love it!
Sissy Spacek has consistently made me want to give her a hug in every role she's played for the past 50 years

she was so good in bloodline
Was this from a movie? Or made just for this song?
@@MizRuthie it was made specifically for this song
I’ve never read a truer comment!! Fr!!!
Everybody talking about the video, but this has got to be one of the most emotional songs I've ever heard.
I found this song in a movie and it lead me upto here
I mean. It's about addiction and watching it devour a loved one.
Of course it's incredibly emotiou
@@kiprotichcornelius3989"Booksmart" brought you here
It’s about devotion and lasting love that nothing can separate even life.
my dad told me mom dying nearly killed him, he was drinking very heavily, but finally snapped out of it. They knew each other nearly 45 years
That shot of the Barn being in the very center of the frame is held for 10 whole seconds; For a music video that is such an eery amount of time for one typically boring thing to be in focus, but I literally could not take my eyes off of it because of the gut-wrenching tension they created beforehand. This whole video is honestly one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen in my life I can't believe I'm just now seeing it.
Thats Rian Johnson for ya
Visual storytelling masterpiece.
Both, music and the visuals are wonderfull 🌷
One of the best music videos ever.
Yep
Truly.
Just Like "To Build a Home" the Cinematic Orchestra
Forever somewhere between Here and There
Boss Wizard Your phrasing is perfectly succinct, and hopelessly romantic. Well said, and spot on.
wow this comment, exactly this
Neither here nor there.
Pat Fritsch As is your description of his comment! I gave up trying to say it better. Kudos to you both!
There is no between Here and There. As we saw in every other example, immediately upon entering Here, you are already exiting There, there is no delay in the "Nowhere" - So the ending was ruined for me!
ok WOW. That ending got me good. Its 4AM and im stuck working night shift. I love watching music videos and that has left me in tears.
I cry every single time I watch it. Never gets old.
Came here from the Leave The World Behind trailer, but absolutely gobsmacked. I did not expect to watch something so emotionally impactful this morning. By gods, the acting, the storytelling, the music... And doubtless the best thing I've ever seen Rian Johnson direct.
"I'd rather be nowhere with you than anywhere without you."

@@JBackkkkk I reworded it to make "somewhere" anywhere. I think it's more effective, ha.
@@PaulBenjaminJenkins that's fair
They're not here, nor there. They're together.
I still to this day remember the first time I heard LCD Soundsystem's music, my music producer friend and I were in high school and really into Franz Ferdinand, we were on the school computers in class looking up music and Franz Ferdinand had done a cover of this song so we looked up the original and instantly fell in love with LCD Soundsystem, we've seen them twice live since, their/his music brings back so many great memoires with my friend try searching Lonely Gimmick - Stay At Home To Sleep In, we've been through a lot together so I wanna throw him some love. He's a music producer and that's his music. He's really talented and deserves more recognition. He does it all himself a lot like James Murphy
Sissy Spacek being in this was a lovely surprise
Can't stop watching this video. It's so well directed. There's nothing arbitraty, every single frame composition and its length says something. And the actors' performance is so intense and real. Perfect storytelling.
Absolutely, Rian Johnson did an amazing job here

Wow I thought this was from a movie 😯
some sections of his singing popped Echo & The Bunnymen into my head
I discovered this song by accident only now in 2023 thanks to the excellent miniseries A Teacher (2020). Yes, I'm behind, but I'm glad I didn't completely miss both this fantastic song and the series. Greetings from the Czech Republic
This was directed by the guy who directed The Last Jedi. And it always seems to fill my room with onions when I watch it.
that was a fantastic video
Really? A video with Sissy Spacek and David Strathairn was fantastic? I don't believe you.
The song and its lyrics are better suited to ITV Drama's "Butterfly" which obviously licensed this as its theme tune. Playing out on UK television right now, likely you yanks will get it shipped over soon enough.
@Ben Scudder Actually it was the theme tune, not just the trailer/adverts - they used it for each episode beginning and end. Who cares who starred in the music video compared to the ITV drama, both pieces of work were done well. You should also think about the *real* people behind these lyrics and what themes they may be considering whilst writing and how they might be, in actual fact, closer to the ITV drama that played out rather than a music video where you have a director who *didn't* write the lyrics, but takes their own interpretation.
Directed by Ryan Johnston
Rian always makes it great
Rewatching this, it resonates more when you realize they're willing to let go of all their material worth to complete the experiment. They go from a beautiful furnished home to a small, empty one where they drink champagne out of solo cups. They don't care. The only thing that matters to them is making this impossible dream a reality.
yet, he let go of everything achieved, to a chance to freeze time, to be together for all the eternity somewhere between Here and There
your comment is everything.

It's a hard song to hear.
@@assyrianrelief I appreciate your kindness. Ive intentionally remained single ever since then; it's been 4 years and 2 months now. It's more difficult some days than others, but it's worth it. The conflict is we aren't meant to be alone this way,but I personally refuse to ever settle in order to relieve my burden. As hard as at may be, I don't advise anyone to ever invest themselves emotionally in someone in spite of what their gut tells them. It's a balance between our hearts and our logical minds. Without balance all we'll ever achieve is conflict or total disconnect. This is what I've learned about coexisting with anyone anywhere period.

I had no idea about LCD Soundsystem until a week ago. I never knew. This was the first song I heard a week ago that just randomly came up and I stopped in my tracks frozen in time from the very first sound. [Verse 1]
Oh baby
Oh baby
You're having a bad dream
Here in my arms
[Verse 2]
Oh sugar
You came to me
Could all be a bad thing
Doing you harm
Oh oh oh
[Verse 3]
Oh lover
You run from me
We move like a bad scene
Shot in the dark
[Chorus 1]
Oh, but please
Please wake me
But my love lies patiently
Please baby, please
And my love life waits for me
[Verse 4]
Oh love
You came to me
You were having a bad time
There in your home
[Verse 5]
Oh sugar
Give in to me
You're just having a bad dream
Ringing alarms
[Chorus 2]
Oh, but please
Please shake me
But my love sits patiently
Please, baby, please
And my love plays wait and see
[Verse 6]
Oh, I'm on my knees
Yeah, I'm on my knees
I promise I'm clean
But my love life waits
[Bridge]
And you're already gone
Yeah, you're already gone
You're already home
And my love life stumbles on
[Outro]
Oh baby
Lean into me
There's always a side door
Into the dark
Into the dark
