      Well done. Was your test similar to this video? Or have they changed (Added) any of those drills? Thanks.

      If the student cannot reach 7 stage all his or her hard work would be gone? Like the student did well her or his heavy equipment test and except shuttle run??

    Just passed my Pati, Wct and prep (Stage 1). For my prep, I just went in and just left everything on the line nearly passing out couple of times and had kidney pain for 5 straight days. I knew I was kind of fit but if I was to do it again, I just run 30 minutes everyday for a month and sprint for 10 mi utes of the 30.
    As a guy who stopped lifting weights 3 years ago, I found this very easy. However, there are some differences from this video.
    1. 9 lbs belt and 9 lbs vest
    2. Circuit under 2.37 mins
    3. Dummy drag resistive matt is longer and there is another mat you take the dummy over. It's not on the hardwood floor anymore
    4. Cannot slam weights anymore like in the video.

    Some things based on experience:
    -do NOT run between stations of the pursuit/restraint circuit. It will waste energy and you won't make up much time.
    -tighten the belt TIGHT, especially if you have a gut! It could fall down and cost you time and energy
    -for the shuttle run, go SLOW in stages 1 and 2. Save energy for stages 4, 5, 6.
    -only one foot needs to touch the end line. So you can pivot before the line and place the other foot on the line.
    -HIIT classes (f45, etc) helped me pass the shuttle. Highly recommend to train for the PREP test.
    You got this! Just gotta believe it.
    Edit: bring a banana and eat it after the pursuit/restraint and before the shuttle. Good for energy and leg muscles 😉

    Passed the PREP with a time of 2:25. Could've been better (since I had a mild cold and relatively lacking sleep when I had to do it) but all I can say is that this test speaks a lot for your physical fitness if you can pass it. Focus on cardio and weights that help build your mid to lower body strength.
    When I first did this test I failed spectacularly (it was the old format though) because I never bothered to work my leg muscles. Upper body strength doesn't mean a thing if your legs can barely lift your own weight.

    Just did the physical prep yesterday. Passed with 2:35 and the fail is 2:38. It was challenging, the strength stuff was very easy with pull/push and the handcuff thing. Its mostly cardio and endurance. I didn't expect it to be that hard.

    • @lcbean6921
      @lcbean6921 5 років тому +1

      I'm most worried about the Push/Pull and handcuff thing more than the cardio, looks heavy lol

      Many people, especially those who think they are physically strong, underestimate this test. The trick to doing it is to know the techniques on the restraint simulators and do the entire course in a controlled manner. That restraint machine is no pushover despite being only 70 pounds.

    This is fantastic for anyone looking into career in law enforcement! I'm 13 and haven't really decided what I want to do yet , but I 've always thought being a police officer would be a very rewarding career. If you have any tips, please let me know☺ I'd really appreciate it.

      Role Playing Games*
      Learn to think Strategically.
      Play MOM (Motive, Opportunity, Means) games.
      Play How to spot the liar. (Learn 'tells' like duping delight.)
      Although forensics has been a real game changer, police officers are still expected to use their intuition.
      As you go through school, learn what you have to do to earn scholarships** and academic awards, then focus on those. IOW, make them your goals.
      Good luck to you.
      * help you to learn how to put yourself in someone's shoes. "If I wanted to hide stolen goods and I were that particular suspect where would they be? If not there, move to next suspect's mindset.
      ** There are scholarships for hill racing and obviously that dovetails nicely into police work.

      Most police departments these days require a Bachelor's degree, although that is slowly changing. You could consider getting a bachelors degree in something else like Nursing and that will open two doors for you.

    Completed Level 7. I think I could have done better had I not eaten lots of food the night before. I weight train Mon and Wed for 2hrs and Alternate between 2hrs of Leg day and 2hrs of Cardio(20 min sets with 5 min breaks) on Saturdays. Frankly speaking I was running on fumes and barely made it. I would recommend doing cardio at least twice a week when preparation for this. But my body fat is at 12%. So some of you may need more if you're fat.

    So this is the new standard for the pursuit and restraint circuit across Ontario? IE: before we had to drag the victim by the wrists or under the arms, now we can pull by an attached handle?

  • @DoomRulz
    @DoomRulz 8 років тому +1

    About the shuttle run. Seven levels, but how many sub levels are there? Is it 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, and so on until 7, or is it 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 2.1, 2.2, all the way to seven?

      1, 1.5, 2.. every half

    • @KrestenGiese
      @KrestenGiese 8 років тому +4

      It doesn't matter... To get to 1.5 you have to go through 1.1, 1.2, etc. It is just announced every 1.5...

    Just passed it today but with a few mistakes, leaving me at 2:34. Training is good and all but I strongly recommend attending a practice session (which I didn't do) since this time around they were picky at the resistor station, particularly the transitions. They want it to be very controlled and the way its done in this video, the weights are banging a little too hard and you'll get penalized for it. As for the shuttle run right after, I passed that as well but it was no cake walk.

    • @linglingmale
      @linglingmale 7 років тому

      I wish to go to the practice session, but it was all booked... sigh

      Hello! Do you know if you can attend these sessions to just take notes and see- or, do you have to participate? I would be looking on behalf of someone who cannot attend the session in person.

    Can someone tell me how much do you have to run for the beep test in order to hit 7.0? How many kms are in 7.0 beep test? I think the test seems easy but again it all depends on your cardio and endurance.
