@@moyo5509 I agree with your point on not being a fan of unqualified cops and sometimes question if many of the current officers are even qualified anymore. I do think there should be some sort of standard set, mostly a physical bar if they're going to be going to scenes and dealing with things in person. We need capable individuals who can handle particular circumstances where they're required, and it's helpful to get different perspectives to approach most cases. Maybe there can be different standards for different police roles, since there are different positions and types of cases anyways
Why do people have to be in good shape to become a Police Officer but many are allowed to get out of shape, why aren't they made to pass the test at least every couple yrs
Late reply, but you actually are incentivized by retaking it every year and passing. It should be more of a mandatory thing at least until a certain age especially as an officer who’s on his feet/patrolling officer.
The test is named the 'core endurance test' because it assesses the endurance of multiple muscle groups within the core, not just the spinal erectors. While the spinal erectors are important for maintaining spinal alignment and posture, the core includes a range of muscles such as the rectus abdominis, transverse abdominis, obliques, and stabilizing muscles in the pelvis and hips. These muscles work together to provide stability and support during movement. By naming it the 'core endurance test,' it acknowledges the comprehensive nature of the test, which evaluates the endurance of all these core muscles, not just the spinal erectors.
did you do the ontario police college? I am starting my police foundations course May 4, and will have to do my ontario police college once I am done! How was it?
I have a question. In the forward flexion, if I stretch & touch my toe what is the cm? Is it start at 0 to say 50 cm or not; I want to measure my flexibility but don’t know how to regarding measurement. I think that from the sole of the feet in a sitting position is 0 and if I stretch farther say 5cm, it would be +5 and if I have 5 cm close to touching my toe, it would be-5.

Run 2-3 miles and not feel exhausted? I feel exhausted just thinking about it 😅 I hate running but I would probably never chase after criminals on foot. How can one train for this if they have never run after school years? 😢😅
So I finally confirmed that if you have a physical disability there’s no chance to work for YRP as an educational officer. Isn’t that discrimination all the way?
So for the shuttle run, does your score out of 50 depend on what level you reach? Or is there a standard level you must reach to get 50/50?. For example I heard that you must reach level 9 on the shuttle run to pass and if you do not you fail and get 0/50. Is this true? Or is it scored based on whichever level you reach? Thanks
Well I think they actually tell you to make sure you practice to reach level 9. So that during the exam you can reach level 7 easily. There is the different things that effect how you perform. For me it was and is my anxiety which does to some degree effect the pace at which you perform. And what I heard on information session from OPP , Toronto, Halton and Waterloo Police services its to get 75 % total combined in the Pin Test. its not like one component. The 7 level shuttle run is running for 1.4 miles on a speed of 7.2 miles on a treadmill for 10 mins 30 seconds I think. If you just wanna reach till level 7 and not till 9. Try to run while wearing a weighted vest. I started from 12 pounds and went to 22 pounds of vest. And during testing it was like piece of cake. Because your heart is more stronger because of that extra weight it has been training with. But then again everyone is different. I hope everything goes well for you. All the best !
The scoring system is kinda dumb. If your a woman you don't need to do real push ups and if you're old than you don't need to do as much. Plus flexibility doesn't really matter at all what should be tested is range of motion in case of health conditions that might limit the potential recruit. You can cater to age and gender but out in the real world won't. When a 245lb gorilla of a man is coming at your officer and your officer gets hurt you have your negligent testing criteria partially to blame.
@@moyo5509 Exactly, it's not sexist to say MOST women don't have the physical aptitude to be a police officer. If women are performing the same duties as men, then why are they allowed to do some pathetic pushups. Will these women be paid less? Why let the women show that they are weaker by letting them do sissy pushups. Double standards
As a female going into police training, I'm quite relieved that I won't be doing the male push ups. I 've been training as male push ups at home so I'm still as strong as the guys. Besides I'm not letting a test tell me I'm not strong; I know that and that's enough.
@@sandyslegodollsandbeyond7811 Sandy, there is no such thing as male pushup and female push up - there is only push-ups! Pushups and modified push ups, that is about it. I don't get why it's called the core endurance test. It should be called the spinal erector test. Cause that's what it being tested.
