Theo went to the next level of podcaster with Malcolm on this episode. One of the best. Making Malcolm more relatable. Not trying to box him in. Credit to Malcolm for being flexible in how he communicates and going with Theo's flow. Kudos and congrats to both of you.

Malcolm is a garbage person who was exposed by Matt taibi in a debate recently, to the people who didn’t realize Malcolm was already this way for a while. I guess you didn’t catch that or you’re just another tribal nut.

He definitely made Malcom more relatable …..when I saw how manipulative and disrespectful he was towards Matt Taibbi/Douglas Murray during a panel discussion it made me not like him much
But in this setting he seems more fair. Which is cool cause he’s probably conditioned to not like the sound of a southern voice…..and yet he’s choppin it up with Theo seamlessly

He's so right about the validation and feedback stuff from your employer. One of my first jobs was a dishwasher at a busy restaurant/hotel and it was a nightmare but the kitchen manager would always shake my hand at the end of each night and tell me I did a good job, and that kept me coming back despite not really enjoying the job at all. I'll always remember that. Later on as I became a chef/cook, I made sure to treat my co-workers with that same attitude because it had such an impact on myself. I have yet to have a boss that does the same since.. and it's misserable working for someone who expects you to bring it day in and day out without acknowledging your hard work. Cheers ✌️💙 and ganggg.

I can not think of too many books that have elevated my understanding of the world and myself more then outliers . The use of easy to comprehend statistics that are NOT stats that are played with to sell a point AND just STRAIGHT very easy math most people will comprehend makes it SO DIGESTABLE and has such great utility to understanding the world and how we all interact with it in regards to pursuits, makes it one of the best books ever . Could not recommend a book more highly .
If I was running a school I would make it required reading and students wouldn't even find it a task considering how enjoyable it is . Few things I have ever read were such an enjoyable read while simultaneously making me smarter and more educated .
What you learn specifically is of SUCH GREAT INTEREST and applicable to EVERY PERSON with even one ounce of ambitions but ALSO TEACHES YOU HOW TO THINK AND NOT GET FOOLED BY NARRATIVE and BS STATS etc .
It's so well written that it is HIGHLY EDUCATIONAL for a very large group of people including those with very high intellect as well as average and it is probably MORE IMPORTANT TO READ TODAY then when published for most people but especially young people who are obsessed with screens and fake reality , fake narratives , and wanting to be famous instead of good , let alone great at anything .
It removes so much BS from your brain about success and makes you way less vulnerable to being sold BS narratives , BS pop physce , BS products to make you whatever and Bull Shit in general .
In my head despite reading it decades ago I think by now it informs soo much of HOW I THINK and it CLEANED UP SO MANY FALSE IDEAS In my head as well as made virtually everything I knew about people and life make sense on a practical level it's totally part of the operating system of my brain.
It's way way way up the list and maybe #1 in regards to a single book that had the most utility in knowing HOW TO THINK and what is worth the energy In my life and what isn't.
It's written so well with such great examples of how the world works in regards to outcomes that it REALLY CHANGES YOU for the better in a way few books can to think CLEARLY .
I think Malcolm is being humble to say he is not as smart as Neil . Maybe Neil would score higher on an IQ test but I think that's of no consequence in regards to what YOU can learn from what he creates in the form of his writing .
He is also EXTREMELY LIKEABALE and if you read outliers you would trust what he says much more then most people to give you a straight answer and at the least believe and know he isn't an agenda driven person and have trust that his method of research and what he puts out is accurate or at the least he believes it is the most accurate he can give and not an ideologue or suffering from conformation bias .
He might be one of the few people I would trust as a politician which is a SURE SIGNAL he will never run for any major office unfortunately.
It's a shame considering the recent agitation of race stuff considering he is of mixed ethnic background and understands so much of what precipitates outcomes and is such an amazing communicator .
One of a few people I don't know personally who I would trust my instinct that he is about as honest as is possible for a human to be , particularly for people with a public persona .
    Ego is in check .
Yeah I would suggest ANYBODY who Is not Familiar with him to check him out and OUTLIERS is a 100% must read for anybody who has interest in their life or THINKs they care about other people and might prefer to be less judgmental of people in general and or more judgmental of people who are in big positions you suspect may be pushing false narratives about how they ended up in their position of " greatness " .

46:05 is my loudest and most incessant soapbox. When I was growing up, everyone mostly consumed the same media, particularly before mass-adoption of cable television. There was a stronger sense of shared identity, because so much of who we are is what we learn. Now, we’re all comfortably imprisoned in cells of our own making, and we never have to learn any other perspectives.

In the recent Munk debate Gladwell rips into how old Media was just one "white" opinion, even compared it to the time when women didn't have rights. Then he went onto say things are better now that different voices can be heard.
I really think people just like to complain, you would argue it any way it was set up.
So which is it? One main voice is not fair and many voices people only follow what they like. Either way your still complaining.

I love seeing unlikely pairs like this. This was a sitting that never crossed my mind. With my brain's function of over-analysis being a double edged blade of curse and blessing. Its rare that two people ive acknowledged mentally(whatever their niche is, meshing or not, personalities coalescing or not) slipped through my tangle web of analytical convolution lol. Love it!(speaking in general now) Cause, when you have run so many scenarios, and things don't surprise you anymore. It becomes hard on your mentality. Things become dull, and whats worse is when you know the negatives that are to happen... yet you cant stop them. Or, you try to tell the people in your life whats up. To try and save them time and anguish. But, they dont listen. Repeating the same mistakes and complaining about them over and over again. Where it goes from genuinely trying to help, to trying to understand, to pleading, to showing how you were right(in a non condescending way), to "i told you so", to finally not caring enough to even say a word or respond to their complaints, and finally to see that pattern manifest in most everything and everyone... "Cynically Depressed" lol. So, being surprised, "mis-predicting", or coming across something novel(especially a combination of two thing that by themselves arent novel to you, but together are), is a reminder necessary for those stuck in monotony like myself. That there are fresh sparks, and wires yet to be cut; revealing those flickers... not just faded lifeless cables that no longer provide sparks, but rather drain your own. Or, worse... lines that masquerade as a live wire, but truly are no more than a tube that siphons in a cable's covering...
Hopefully that made sense to some poor soul who spent the time reading this XD. But, im the type to ramble and roll out lol so 🤷🏻

Incorrect. Malcolm promotes the msm and the government as if they speak facts. He is a proven liar, catch some of the recent debates like with Matt taibi, it’ll help you sort that out. This world is fd if so few people have actual discernment ability. Holy crap. It’s amazing. Praising another guy that’s trying to destroy the world, so many people doing this with the worst types of people over and over again. Theo is great I love the guy.
