I totally agree! If the fans had seen Ben standing with L&L they wouldn't be so distraught, rather, they would be contented with the fact that Ben earned his place as a "force ghost" by sacrificing himself to save Rey. With him just disappearing the fans are left in an emotional limbo that can't be quelled.

That's actually what gets me too. The fact that she loved him and then when he dies she just feels nothing. That is incredibly odd to me. I've always just kind of had a gut feeling he was still around.

I think before he disappeared he found peace because he was with Rey and he found his place in the light. I have a gut feeling that if he is alive, he thought he was going to die too when it happened. But feeling the "death" come on took him aback a little because well, it's death. Like he knew he was gonna die but, like, fuck. Maybe it feels weird, shit I dunno.

I believe that." I don't know what that means or if it's even true, but maybe there's hope?

I really want to believe this, my heart is so broken over Ben's Death. I've never felt such sorrow and mourning over any movie caracter. I feel absolutely lost,and if it were not for all the people online that I see have the same feelings, I would feel absolutely embarrassed and stupid to feel this way. But the truth is, #bensoloisus and #bensolodeservedbetter . His caracter and story resonates in such a deep level with the abused, depressed and so on, that killing him in such a way killed the hopes of many.
But your theory, I feel, falls through. What about Anakin/Darth Vader? Like burns Anakin's intact body, and after that Anakin shows up as a force ghost.
Sam H I am pretty sure that in Both Legends and Canon Luke only burned Vader’s suit because his father’s body had already disappeared.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about how terrible it is that they gave us the romantic and beautiful scene at the end just to kill Ben off. There must be something more to it than just him vanishing

And yes Ben/Kylo being THE fan-favorite of this trilogy is definitive. Adam Driver gave an amazingly nuanced performance that brought the character to life where a lot of the films, did not necessarily click.

That fact that the movie doesnt show us what exactly happened to Ben in the end is a testament to his undecided future. I think Disney made it vague on purpose so Ben can eventually come back in the capacity they need him.
Harrison Ford said that same thing too after Return of the Jedi....and yet he was in 7 and 9. 😉 you know how they like to toy with fans. So im still holding onto hope.

It looks like Disney is leaving the current Star Wars timeline for now to focus on the Old Republic, and more specifically Revan and Bastila. Those two also had a Dyad bond, so this is a great opportunity to see more of what that can do. I'm really hoping that at the end of Revan and Bastila we see Rey closing one of the old Jedi texts, look up and say "Hold on, Ben. I'm coming." We could be at the beginning of a years long setup for Rey going to the WBW to get her man back.

They can’t get any older though. There are a lot of rumors of a Ben Solo prequel show with Adam Driver reprising his role but he’s too old to play a 22 year old.

There is also a lot of proof about the connection between Exogol, Ahch-to and the World Between Worlds. Some of the proof is in the visual novels. Also the map that is in the visual novels matches up with one of the patterns seen in the wayfinders in TROS.
In addition, in one of the episodes in Rebels, there were quotes coming from Rey and Ben, some of them being about Ben finishing what Vader started and the other one was Rey saying "We'll see each other again, I believe that."
If Ben really is alive and he's in the WBW, that could mean that the dark cave vision Rey saw in Ahch-to really was Ben.

I think it's a pretty good explanation as to why we never saw Ben's force ghost at the end of the film with Leia and Luke. I really want to see him back as well. And maybe we'll see that happening through the comic books.

I think it would’ve been way more powerful to keep Ben alive and explore the dynamic in future movies. Show Ben having to deal with what he’s done, show him trying to prove his goodness. Show a hurt, abused person finding normalcy and happiness after a lifetime of hurt.
I remember in Nickelodeon’s Avatar the Last Airbender, Zuko had a similar life and ended up becoming good. As a kid, I remember being so surprised. It never crossed my mind that bad people can change. It never crossed my mind that good people can help bad people change. It never crossed my mind that bad people are bad sometimes because they’ve been placed in bad situations. They don’t always want to be bad.
I hope Ben comes back, because if not this was the most dissatisfying ending. Stereotypical. Why make a story exactly like every other when-in just 2ish scenes-you had made a complex, unique character. Ben Solo (turned good) was such a different character than anything I’d seen in Star Wars or another movie. They missed a great opportunity by resorting to the typical Star Wars (And just in general every movie) ending in which “bad” dies and “good” lives. What a waste of a beautiful transformation. What a waste of a complex and inspirational character. I hope they used life force to bring him back-J.J. Abrams messes up big.

When she buried the lightsabers and saw Leia and Luke, my first thought, “where’s Ben?” And was hoping she’d see him somehow, but, nothing. Thinking more of it, I thought maybe, Ben didn’t appear because, unlike the deaths of previous Jedis, Ben wasn’t killed but he actually transferred his life force to Rey. So, it’s not the same. I think, you’re right. In a way, Ben is not dead. I also had the same thought why Rey didn’t seem to mind when she only saw Leia and Luke but not Ben. And although people have explained the reason behind the title, I want to believe that “rise of Skywalker” also meant Ben rising back to light thus, fulfilling his status as a true Jedi. Well, of course he’s a Solo being the son of Han, but his being a Jedi is from his Skywalker lineage. I really hope he’s alive.
Technically, he is a Skywalker. Leia took her adoptive parents name of Organa, but she was born a Skywalker. The matrilineal blood line is strong. We know Leia had force powers and received Jedi training. If Ben lived today in a Latino culture, he would be Ben Skywalker, taking his mother’s name, or if he added his father’s name, it would be Ben Solo Skywalker. I think we can assume that somewhere in the Galaxy, this might be the case. If so, Ben was the Skywalker who rose from the dark to the light. It could ALSO be that he is the Skywalker who rises from death... hence why Rey uses his name, because their bond is so strong, or they are married (wouldn’t that be fantastic?!?). I know hours of film were cut. I can’t wait to see JJ’s full version in 2022.
I couldn’t have agreed more!!! I wasn’t a big fan of Kylo but I was devastated seeing poor Ben die after all that he had been through. I do like your theory , it’s weird we didn’t see him as a force ghost , I would definitely like to see the couple together but we have to remember that Anakin had a similar ending, he died as soon as he turned to the light by saving his loved one . Not fair ending either with no second chance in life. Still Darth wasn’t really young any more , so Bens death seems more unjust to me ...
Well to be fair...Anakin COULD have lived his life out as a jedi. He didn't have to turn dark and he lived decades longer than Ben and committed far worse acts. He acted in a split-second moment of conscience to save his son from being killed, getting killed himself in the process. Ben made a conscious decision to turn away from the dark side by hurling his light saber into the ocean and *then* choosing to risk his life to travel to Rey. And he made the conscious decision to give Rey his life-force knowing it would probably kill him in return. He deserves his redemption more than Anakin did.
It has to end like this because Disney just press Copy and paste with a better graphic and younger actors... no new Stor right from 7 to 9 sadly... or they copy stuff from old comics...

I really hope you are right. Ben is my favourite character and I still can't get over that scene.
I think his death is set up for something, the world between worlds has been mentioned in the visual dictionary and it is very plausible that he's somehow connected to it by half of the dyad being alive which is supposed to transcend time and space.
If Palpatine can cheat death and come back, then Ben damn sure can too!

I also wondered why she wasn't much more devastated after they had kissed when he disappeared if he was truly dead. If he actually died in her arms right after he had saved her life and they had kissed, she would have been absolutely heartbroken. But she dealt with it with such confidence as if she knew he wasn't gone. Dunno.

In the EU Luke could abandon his physical body and be like a force ghost. He could then become physical again. I was hoping that would happen in TROS to retcon TLJ. So instead, I hope Ben has that ability.

I like your thinking. At the end of The Last Jedi, Luke projects himself on Craite, which happens to be an ability from the EU. It would not be unbelievable to pull another force ability from Legends.

‘The Jedi Killer’ falls in love with ‘The Last Jedi’ / it’s such a good set up and there’s too much good chemistry to use between the two characters / actors. It would be such a waste not to see their life together and see them take on other challenges and train their kids, etc. I think they’ll give Adam and daisy some time off, then when their careers hit a lag, like in 5 years, they may be willing to sign again.

The Jedi and Sith died with Rey and Sheev. Rey was reborn by Ben to create something new hence the gold lightsaber which is a neutral color. Rey will bring Ben back.

Leia sent Kylo in a realm called The World Between Worlds. That's the reason they vanished at the same time,Leia sensed Kylo's fate,and deep down Rey knew she was training to get Kylo out of The World Between Worlds,that's why Leia said "Nothing's impossible." and many more. At least I think this
This was my exact thought after seeing TROS, it's the only way that Leia disappearing after Ben does makes any sense, if he truly were dead, Rey would die as well due to the dyad, in a normal Force bond she would live the rest of her life with a permanent wound in her soul, but since they are literally two halves of one whole, one cannot exist without the other.
I was JUST talking about this with a friend yesterday and now I see this video and know we’re not the only ones who hold to this theory. Ben is alive. Leia saved him with her energy. Calling it now. 😄

Yeh i think she didnt disapear yet was because she still had force energy in her and when Ben died she died after to pass those last forces of energy to him and if he were to have died i don’t think they would have cut to scene Rey celebrating with the others and also if he died his force ghost thing would have been with Luke and Leia but aparently theres a part of Ben in Rey since he saved her so its possible he is alive but like kinda dead cause the only energy he probaly got was from Leia when she passed so basically Ben is like what Leia was before she disapeared.

I had so much hope in JJ Abrams. “Satisfying Ending” he said, for ALL STAR WARS fans, everyone in my house has erased Star Wars, but we all still dream of the new start of Ben and Rey...
I totally agree that Ben’s death seems to make Han, Luke and Leia’s sacrifices mean so little. His death also makes the entire Sequel Trilogy feel like a failure to me. Ben’s story effects Han, Luke and Leia’s legacies significantly. If it was all done to set up a story of redemption for Ben to overcome all the things that had happened to him though out his life, both those that resulted from his own decisions and those that did not, I can see it being worthwhile. But for him to die so young and so quickly after finally making the right decision feels like a total waste. It really makes the entire Skywalker legacy feel like one of tragedy. I really don’t understand and I do hope that you’re ideas show that they have left a door open to turn this story around eventually.
@star wars lab Definitely sharing your POV and I also believe that, while the cut was crap, there's more to Ben Solo's story that meet the eye in TROS. We see it in the Visual Dictionary Exegol is one of the portal to the World Between Worlds, another one is Ahch-To (the cave probably), the last one was Lothal, now destroyed.
IMO the "weaker" part of your theory, which is sound in everything else, is how Leia's supposed to keep Ben alive with only the Cosmic Force. Her Essence (Cosmic Force) needs the Living Force energy to remain in the physical world. Ben's spirit is alive, but he gave ALL his living Force to Rey because resurrection is a life-for-a-life deal.
So, in order to be alive in the physical world, Ben needs Living Force which Leia hasn't anymore.
What I think may have happened is that Leia's spirit, once her body died, went to the WBW and from there she sees Ben's every move. She dragged Ben in the WBW one moment before he dies like Ezra did with Ashoka in Rebels. Let's remember that Ashoka dissuades Ezra to save Kanan and change the past. So Ben is dragged by Leia (?) in the WBW a moment before he dies and he is either trapped there waiting for Rey to free him (wonderful Orpheus trope) or he can find the other way out through the other portal on Ahch-To.
The cave mirror with Ben on the other side is a moment in the future that Rey saw (the belonging, the dyad) and this connects beautifully with TLJ. Was this the plan all along? It would have been genius on JJ & Terrio's side.
Leaving TROS the way they did was tasteless, dumb and honestly cruel. Ben's voice (without the body) saying Rey "I come back for you, sweetheart. I promise" would have been so much more powerful than what Disney gave us.
I seriously love this idea! Thanks for the feedback too, I appreciate it. I didn’t address the world between worlds in this video because I felt it would be harder to follow for some but I am tempted to make a follow up just to address that possibility. I love the idea of Ben reappearing on Ahch To, and of course, him coming back for Rey.
@@StarWarsLab There's more. In TLJ novelization by Jason Fry the very last chapter has a curious interlude on Ahch-To about the Lanai following Luke's death. Alchida-Auka, leader of the Lanai caretakers of Ahch-To, reflects on the next Outsider who will take Luke's place.
"Alcida-Auka didn’t know if the next Outsider would come during her time, or her daughter’s, or not until the tenure of a matron yet unborn.
But another would come, and find all in order. Because the Lanais would do their duty."
So there is foreshadowing of the next Jedi master coming after Luke. The Lanai weren't much impress from Luke's "destructive apprentice, the one he’d said was his niece" but Luke was no trouble.
I didn't know what to think about it when I read this. Now I must say, I like it very much. Perhaps you can work on it for your theory better than me.
I think there’s a few missing dots to connect there, but that’s what theories are for. A very intriguing idea for sure.

My own theory:
The Skywalker saga isnt dead, just on hiatus. Just before Ben solo exchanges his life for reys, he places his hand on reys stomach, offering his life in return for hers, but also in the process, Making a new one and impregnating rey. This would wrap up the saga perfectly, the child would have solo, Skywalker and palpatine blood running in its veins. The perfect balance!
Plus, this wouldnt be the first time something similar has happened, look at how anakin was born.
Just a theory though, is it a good one?
This video gives me so much hope. It hite me hard when he just disappeard. I also think that his death doesn´t make any sense because as Palpetine said that they are more or less the other half of the other (I can olly speak out of the german version of the film) So in my opinion I think if one of them dies the other one can´t survive too. And I say sorry for my bad English.

@@StarWarsLab Thank you. Finally someone who understands my point of view. I think they are the opposite of each other and can´t exist without the other. The other piont is that he deserves a better ending than that. It is just sad how they create his "death". I know there are many people who say he deserved it because he has killed so many people and say his death is final but I these weren´t his last moments. He will come back somehow. It wasn´t his decision to do all of these terrible things. It was always the sound of Palpetines voice in his head. In the end Ben chose the light side to fight together with Rey and this was his first own desicion.

I also feels there's a missing piece. The scene changed abruptly after ben's death. And I don't believe that after all that bond and loving shown between them that rey could stay unaffected with ben's death and continued to celebrate with everyone else, just like that.. I mean.. THAT would be too cruel, especially after witnessing the death of your loved ones.. So here I am, still hoping for an extended version or deleted scene in the upcoming bluray, with a more satisfying closure for my two fave characters..

Second thoughts , it would be super difficult to actually make another movie. No more bad guys alive , no wars to fight .. it’s Star Wars . So let’s all convince Disney to make another movie with an alternative ending and Ben walking away with Rey in the sunset and I would be super happy 😊

This perfectly describes all of my frustrations with the TRoS ending. It's literally as if I narrated this. I am hoping with every fiber of my being that Ben is still out there. If not, what a horribly depressing and tragic ending to a saga centered around "hope".
I hope Ben's alive, truly. It was heartbreaking to watch him die. That's the part that really upset me with TROS.

In case you were wondering: the reason why Ben Solo wasn’t shown at the end of the movie (Star wars: Rise of Skywalker) is because Rey didn’t bury his lightsaber since he threw it in the ocean. Meaning that since she didn’t bury his lightsaber, he isn’t shown.
I mean it does make you question why leia gave up training to become a Jedi because she had a force vision that would endanger Ben but he ended up dying anyway. This would correct that and Would be cool to see this happen
I believe you 100% you give me hope, I think it’s a possibility Disney did this to build hype for his return it’s more exciting for him to “come back from the dead”

I truly truly truly hope they bring Ben back. This is the first trilogy i’ve really gotten into so far and I was so very excited and the emotional dynamics they did between Rey and Kylo. The Force Dyad is so iconic and I really hope they find a way to continue his story alongside Rey.
I thought something interesting to share that relates to this is that even though Snoke claimed that he created their force connection, they continued to experience it after his death. Which means he was either lying or Palpatine created the dyad... There’s a lot of speculation saying that Snoke was bending the truth, but if Palpatine created the dyad, would that mean that it is now broken? What if the dyad has always been there but had only taken effect now that Rey had realized her potential with the force? Whatever the case is it really helps me hold out for hope Ben is still alive... :( It does not make sense that Rey and Ben’s story ends here... Even if money hungry Disney did this for money reasons, Ben Solo/Kylo Ren is such a popular character. It is a smarter business choice to keep him alive... plus, he never truly got to know Rey. Like really know her. Idk, just all around pissed it happened.

Yes they did, and the way everything played out was beautiful to watch. The chemistry between those two is so rare! I really hope we get to see more of it.

Well supposedly there is a couple of rumors (so take this with a grain of salt) that the next planned trigoly one of the plot will be Rey getting Ben back due to a question that a fan asked one of the people in charge in this new trilogy if he would return and he responded with exactly but then again directors and whatnot like to mess with us so obviously we dont know for sure the other is that they will make a Rey spinoff movie where she trains a new generation of jedi (Finn and Poe will also be involved somehow ) and some of them will turn dark so my theory is that If the spinoff is true that they will bring Ben back through that but like I said we don't know anything for sure so take this with a huge grain of salt

@@StarWarsLab They are saying Rey is supposedly pregnant (with twins like Padme) after the events of the war on Exegol, so maybe Ben used the force to impregnate Rey? He was touching her abdomen too lol but idk it makes sense to me.
Disney said that was the last movie for that Trilogy for Skywalkers, but... they didn’t say that was the end for Solos (at least on the website I read that on) So, Ben could very much still be alive in the world between the spirit world and the galaxy. But let’s say Rey dies and ends up in the same world that Ben is in currently. That could be the start to the NEW trilogy. I’m just saying...

Y’all, Maz was predicting the future in TFA. She says that someone could still come back. Back then, we all thought she meant Luke. Before RoS came out, we thought she meant Ben coming back to the light. What if she meant Ben coming back to life?
I agree 100% with this. It only makes sense. Maz even says that she is going to make a final sacrifice to save her son when she walks away and dies. There is so much evidence to support that Ben is still alive.

I most certainly hope this is true! I would love to see Ben still alive! I honestly watching the movie thought there was no way Ben was dead, or fully dead, I'd like to think he would still be alive.

It's hard to believe that Ben actually died. I rewatched revenge of the sith again cause Yoda said something about Qui Gon.
When Obi wan decided to stay in tatooine, Yoda told obi wan that his master, Qui Gon, came back to life from the netherworld and I heard they're making a series about obi wan's life on tatooine. The series might show how he came back.
My point : Maybe Rey didn't go to tatooine just for the lightsabers. Maybe she also went there to start a journey, bringing Ben back from the netherworld. Anyways, it's my opinion... I like to think this is Rey's next mission.
Visual dictionary gives us clues about Exegol being part of a vergence scatter for the world between worlds. I trust Pablo Hidalgo and Lucasfilm story group (neither of which JJ consulted) far more than Disney at this point.

Ok I just want to comment on why this writing is bad for the franchise and storytelling. They’ve never 100% gave us the chosen one yet since none of the characters exactly line up with the prophecy. I do think it will be in the Skywalker bloodline however. The perfect person to bring balance to the force completely is if a former Sith (who turned to the light for good) and a Jedi had a child. This child would then be half and half. Therefore the balance. All the other couples we’ve seen in the movies only one of them uses the force. So Ben and Rey’s child would be the perfect candidate to fill this role and bring everything back to a complete circle again.

They filmed the scene on Tatooine before they decided that Ben should die. And they didn’t refilm the scene so that explains why he wasn’t there.
While I like the idea of this theory, the Force Dyad over-powers the normal Force Ghost transfer. That's why you don't see Ben appear with his mother and uncle on Tattooine. When Rey returns to the Resistance base, she appears upset for a minute, then cheers up. The Dyad explained they were the two halves of one soul. If Ben had really died, she would have been so devastated she wouldn't be able to function, but Ben actually lives on in Rey, as part of her soul. Also, whether Ben is the most popular character doesn't matter since Driver announced he's not doing any more Star Wars films. So Disney's cash cow is done.
I never believed he died. I don't even believe he was there during the final scene. Not after educating us throughout the movie on the fact that they are both so powerful they can project their bodies and even fight one another from afar.

I started backwards on accident with going out to watch the last movie ( rise of Skywalker) then fell so much in love thay I watched all episodes..and it broke my heart knowing he was gonna die at the very end of it. The movie is called “Rise of Skywalker” and as Rey is a Palpatine, the Skywalker referred to in the title is of course, Ben because we see his transition form dark to light

Ok so what REALLY happenned to Ben Solo :
- He shares a Dyad with Rey : in the Force they are ONE. This means they can't be seperate. Ben just dying and Rey being alive doesn't make sense
-He gave all his life energy to save Rey because he's so in love with her.
-One thing i thought at the very moment when Rey is "dead" is that she's not relly dead. Nor Ben or Rey could die if the other is still alive. Their lives are intertwined. I think Rey was almost dying and Ben saved her.
-When Ben fades away he DIDN'T DIE, he fades away.
-Leia CLEARLY gave her force life to her son. Some of the fans are saying that they just disapeared at the same time so it was poetic BUT NO ! Why the hell would Leia die at the same moment as Ben to beautifully end the skywalker saga for Rey to claim she's a dkywalker 5 minutes later ? no it doesn't make sense...
- So, i think the Dyad protected Ben from death + Leia sacrifice saved him. He's now trapped in the Wordl between World waiting for Rey save him

I'm so glad to see this. These were my exact thoughts after seeing the movie. I hope you are right. There is so much wasted by killing off Ben Solo. I would love to see more of him.
Oh he's alive alright. I have to agree that he'd have appeared as a force ghost in the last scene. Rey called herself a sky walker because the name meant something and she loved them.

If you think about it... Rey did act more hurt and broken when she saw Chewie and Han die than Ben. It could mean she could still feel his presence out in the galaxy somewhere else but she can’t pin point it. Therefore, she didn’t have a big of a reaction to it. Then when she walks off into the sunset... it could mean a new chapter in her life, to set off to look for Ben.
