  • First time towing the big toy hauler with the 2500 5.9 power wise the truck did really good no complaints there. Where the trucks weak point was on the maxed out leaf springs the truck was super bouncy and definitely needs air bags before I tow it again! Let me know what videos you want to see next sorry for not posting in a while will have more consistent uploads.

I had a 05 3500 single wheel with a 6 speed. I remember I had to haul a dozer for some Amish. It had to have been 25k lbs at least. Every time I would take off and shift gears the whole truck would twist and bottom out the rear suspension lol. It’s crazy how capable these trucks are. The engines just pull whatever you hook to them. Nice truck man

As far as the loose steering I ran across the same problem. Forced me to further inspect the steering and front suspension components. I found excessive play on the sector shaft of my Gearbox and play on the Ball Joints.. Obviously this really presented itself when I had the tongue weight on the back. The fix was Red Head Gear box with a Sector shaft support and Dynatrac ball Joints. I have pretty much the same Stryker trailer that I pull with my 1 ton.

Nice truck get yourself some 3500 springs and balance the weight over the trailer axles to loose toung weight. Install a thermostaticly controlled 1,000 BTU transmission oil cooler under the bed so it will last 200K instead of 90K miles. Low speed towing will destroy your transmission because the torque converter is not locked and boils fluid.

As well as RVs aren’t in the same category as normal trailers far as DOT is concerned. They are rated on size but even 26,000 doesn’t require cdl if pulling one. I forget exactly but they give a lil more room on boats n rvs then reg trailers.

Well I have a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins and the Max tow and payload back then for the Quad Cab 4x4 auto was 2,400 # Payload and 13,300 # max tow for the SLT auto. The 6 speed manual actually towed about 500 # less on paper than the auto so I don’t understand that, but that’s what the manual says. I feel most people that buy 3/4 Tons trucks should actually be buying a 1 Ton and not a 3/4 Ton. I got friends towing 30K with their 3/4 Ton Dodges and I do not agree with that at all. This will all come to a haunt soon because Trucks are going to start coming with some sort of scale on it so that if you overload your truck or tow to much it will void your warranty and I don’t think the dealer will even be allowed to work on it at all. I think the DMV or whoever is getting tired of scraping body parts of the road because people are pulling 30K with a truck that has a max rating of 20K.

There’s no difference between 2500 and 3500 springs or a Dually only has different rear hubs. That truck curb weight is 8k lbs GVWR is 12,200 max towing 15,950 total combined weight 28,150.
That trailer is nothing for the truck Gvwr on trailer is 9999 at full capicity it’s 9999. empty it’s only 6k

The 9999 lb is not what the trailer weighs its the max it can weigh .... basically the most that can be in it including the trailer itself. Its prob 8000-8500 trailer alone

It’s definitely not 8,500 I tow every other day 10k pounds with my dump trailer and 4-7 yards of dirt and doesn’t feel to as close of what that trailer weights when it’s fully loaded. It’s a 35-37ft toy hauler with 2 slides, generator, and a 18 gallon fuel station.

@@dfrgarage1348 I don't care what you compare to im simply telling you a fact. The GVW tag on your trailer that says 9999lb is not the weight of the trailer.... Its the max the trailer csan be including any cargo you put inside it.

Didnt believe you till i looked it up
Shit my 01 can tow a legal limit of 14k but can handle 18k on a regular basis
    The 02 2500 was rated at 15k 😂
But that may just be your convential tow rating
Realistically these trucks should handle 18-20k just fine and SAFELY
My truck handles 18k just fine its an 01
Now any turbulance you have in handling may just be due to having a tall truck if your towing frequently its better to invest into a 2wd truck due to higher legal capacitys and BETTTER HANDLING (lower center of gravity means better stability)
And a lifted truck is the worst truck for towing
My 01 will do 55-60 mph up grades pretty easily bone stock
Dropping these new injectors will have me doing 65-70 mph up rhe same grades with a 18k lb gooseneck flatbed and a 13k lb 5th wheel
Avging 18-25k gcvw (what matters when legal towing comes into spec)
A 5th wheel or gooseneck will handle much better
Also adjust the load on youf trailer more evenly

@@chrisdolmeph5318 bro 🤦‍♂️ once you hook to a trailer. Get yourself a pyro. Only a testament to the alloys used tbh. Bigger injectors n turbo run a hell of a lot cooler than factory setup by far. If your foot is in the throttle your building temperature. Maintaining speed on an incline n your building temp fast. Be utterly shocked to see a gauge climbing over 1600 n youre 1/4 way up a grade. Nothing steep just steady.

@@dfrgarage1348 not trying to be a dick but do you think a stock truck doesn’t make heat ? Like the reason we put tuners on etc is to lower egts. There’s nothing in your factory settings that alerts you it cools your exhaust in any capacity. Stock or built to the hills. If you’re foot is in the throttle you’re making heat. Factory turbo builds more heat faster than aftermarket. Only thing a stock truck will save you on is the trans n clutch if manual. Guys are very silly thinking a factory setup won’t absolutely melt your turbo down into a glob. Put a pyro on your truck n discover the abuse you’ve been putting it thru. It’s simply out of sight out of mind however it’s happening every day you drive it. Factory setup , trailer , tuning , doesn’t matter. You need to monitor your temps. I’d bet you were easily in the 2000 degree range. Nothing except you is going to stop your truck until catastrophic failure or you start lifting your foot when you see egts climbing. Ignorance is bliss I suppose....
