Brancalonia is fantastic, in Italy we get all the references and they match perfectly with the game and they are absolutely amazing, for an outsiders it might be interested only in the mechanics, wich are amazing too, but the plot add that little more salt, like the Monk class and the race giant, I don't remember the name in english, in italian is Morgante, it's a very popular reference in Italy, the class is based on the actor Bud Spencer, famous for his film where everytine he ended up in a brawl and he just trhow enemy away with a slap, also many moves in the brawls are inspired by Bud, hope that someone could see his films that are also in english, they are hilarious and memorable
I hope that in the references they have L'armata Brancaleone (known in English-speaking countries as For Love and Gold) because of the name of the setting!
This setting is glorious. Saw a preview a while back, loved how many references and jokes they packed featuring the Italian movies from the 70s and 80s that I grew up with. Your pronunciation of condottiero is fine, btw.

Hi Carmen Rose, I got the books as well but they haven't clicked for me yet. Why do you like it so much? I'm thinking about running a one shot in it, but it seems like it's a setting that really blossoms when you play multiple sessions
@@JanHoos Mostly, I like the almost Picaresque feeling of the low(er)-fantasy Italic setting; I think it’s quite unique and a hint whimsical. I like that it doesn’t take itself too seriously, while still being a loveletter to the unique perspective of Italian fantasy/Italian Medieval history. It reminds me in a way of a lot of the shows and movies I grew up watching as a kid. (Apologies if I didn’t explain it all that well! I’ve only just woken up, LOL.)

I gotta say tho, it's hard to not come up with quests that aren't all: Save the princess haha! Instead of thinking up quests that are on the edge of the law or just over it ;-)
Backed the Kickstarter for this and absolutely love it. They also ran a second campaign with the second book the Empire Whacks Back you might be able to late back it if you try!!

Do you think it's a setting that can be used for just a one-shot for now? It seems that most things that make it cool, are things you only experience by running multiple sessions
I was just looking into this game. I stumbled into that same game store years ago visiting a friend who had moved to the area. I am more interested in the setting then the 5e content, looks like a fun setting.

No I don't. My imagination is far better. Plus I'm Polish. I can literally play RPGs in castles or some ruins. Forest, beach or mountains are also welcomed. And that exactly why RPGs are not table top games.

The Monk looks to be a fallout to Bud Spencer and Terence Hill which is enough to convince me this is great
