If your nail just slips into the decking like that, you don't have a nailable surface and the nail will never hold.
No way that shingle stays in.
Can you please show how to properly drive the nail so it is 90deg flush to the nailing surface when you're NOT going into a pre-drilled hole?

Works great but the sound from hitting it with a hammer can be absolutely deafening. Maybe you guys can consider coating the hammer contact area with something.
