  • Time-lapse of the complete construction of a 16x32 vinyl liner swimming pool with automatic cover in Mississippi from www.royalswimmingpools.com.
Learn more about this pool, including a step-by-step breakdown of the project at: blog.royalswimmingpools.com/c...
    Pool Details:
    Dimensions: 16' x 32'
    Maximum Depth: 5'8"
Walls: 42" Tall, 14-Gauge Galvanized Steel
    Liner: Tara Gulf Breeze
    Pump: Pentair Superflo VS
Filter: Pentair Clean & Clear 320 Cartridge Filter
Sanitation: Frog XL Mineral System with Chorinator
Handrail: Saftron 48" Return-toDeck 4 Bend Handrail in Graphite Gray
Cover: Coverstar Automatic Pool Cover in Charcoal, with Touchpad
    Lighting: 3 Pentair Microbrite Lights
The pool was sold by Royal Swimming Pools (www.royalswimmingpools.com) and built by a Royal Swimming Pools "Preferred Builder."
The video consists of a time-lapse of photos taken every ten seconds, over roughly a two-week period. Each second of the video contains 30 frames of video, meaning each second is equal to five minutes of real-time work.
Note that the video has been trimmed to remove downtime, such as lunch or weather breaks. It also does not fully cover the plumbing and electrical work, as this work is not visible from the overhead angle.

You are probably spot on, we had a 20 by 40 installed with 3 feet decking, diving board, salt water system and heater for 27,00 four years ago. Year later we ha the excavation work done around the pool as the back has ground height three feet lower. Two retaining walls were done and they did all the grading and compaction for about 2100 square feet of patio (includes up by my front door patio as well). The next year I installed a versa lol patio around half the pool (back half is river rock and is by retaining wall), and we had another versa lok Wall with steps and connecting walkway from front door patio to side on house with pool done professionally. I did not think I would get that wall done correctly so hired it out, I am glad I did. Fence was installed after that. Last year I built a pizza oven (base was a 5x5 pad with rebar that the excavation company moved into place for me when they graded the patio area. It sat for a year on the spot it is located to finish any more settling and the pavers were installed around it. I built that last summer and just finished veneer stone on the block wall base two days ago. Most of the design I found online, and the materials were all used or reclaimed except for fire brick, the mortars and veneer stone around base. I saved money on fire blanket as a buddy had built one few years ago and had a whole bunch left. We have done small other odds and ends but all told we are in it for about 80,000 grand. Pool was a small portion of that. Most of the hardscaping was done by me to save cost and it still was a punch to the gut. I love how it turned out, it looks beautiful in the summer when pool is open but in my area it will not matter for home value (central NY). If I were to do it again, I would go same route but much smaller scale, also build on FLAT land! Excavation work was 15,000 with another 8 or 9 in the three retaining walls material and one installed by another crew.

Your deep end has to be 8ft or deeper to install a diving board (legally.) It's possible to put one in a vinyl liner, if that's what you're asking. The trend nowadays people are getting away from the traditional 3ft shallow and 8ft deep pools and are going for what they call "sports pools." The deepest a sports pool usually is, is about 5 - 5.5ft.

Did y'all pour a collar, concrete footing, around the walls? I build pools we use wood walls or polymer. We do a lot of liner over steps also, we do our bottoms out of sand and Portland cement, i hate using pool krete, but they do make good bottoms.

We bought a house with a pool that needed reno, finally got to it last year, we didn't want a deep end so we filled it and its basically level depth with a minor slant. Anyways the pool guy did not put any reinforcement metal such as rebar under the poolcrete. SO Ive come to the conclusion that pool crete is not exactly the same as concrete and doesn't need reinforcement.

It looks like they did NOT do the pool bottom concrete all at one "pour". So to me, the joints would NOT be waterproof. Yes the liner could be the final waterproof barrier, but I would be very worried about water leaks over time. One tear or leak and water seeps out the bottom of the pool, sand and foundation subside, sag, etc. I see that as a big potential flaw. Foundation settling, etc leads to even more possible concrete spaces

We have an above ground 20*40 with 7 foot deep end. The base is special gravel then sand. We have had leaks before but the formation holds without concrete or rebar. We just took out a large cash refi but with construction costs sky high, our kitchen and decks ate up our in ground pool budget. We want to do this within two years.

It can be done, but honestly it's not something you want to tackle unless you have experience. Very very expensive mistakes.

Now I know I won't be putting a pool in. A 16 x 32 is a small pool but it took up most of the yard.
