    Amazing job! Ours is being built at the end of summer 2023. Bit of a bummer, but oh well,we'll have it for next year! So glad we didn't go with the 16' x 32 lagoon. 18 x 36 has nicer & wide curves for each end 😊

    Really curious whether Schedule 40 PVC pipe or “flex PVC” tubing was installed for the underground plumbing?
    Great timelapse video.

      I used the default 1080 0.5 sec time-lapse setting on the GoPro. I then sped it up even more (4x) using Final Cut Pro.

    They should have poured a cement collar around the backside of the wall before backfilling.Also defiantly should have let the ground settle for a couple weeks before placing pavers.But whatever if you have to pull overs eventually not that big a deal I guess.Enjoy!

    I litterally have this pool scheduled installed from northern this August. We are stuck between the 36 foot or the 40. Is the pool a good size or do think bigger would have been better

    • @ColdnFrosty
      @ColdnFrosty  2 роки тому

      Tough question to answer. I think if you increase the length for this shape you also increase the width. We were limited in width by the location of the septic leach field, so 18x36 was perfect for us. Other considerations include if you plan to have a diving board, the additional size would allow for a more graduated bottom from shallow to diving depth. We have on six feet at the deep end. And of course, if you go with a larger pool, you are increasing the cost of the patio area. I heard Northern is booked into next year so you are lucky to be on their list!

      Gunite is used to form the curves at the deep end. The pool has a vinyl liner.

    • @ColdnFrosty
      @ColdnFrosty  3 роки тому

      Dunno - maybe he's booked for the next six weeks. I don't build them - I'm just a customer. Usually a good stone mason is going to do what my guys did - use a heavy compactor and go over the area many times before laying the first stone.

      @@ColdnFrosty my pool guy said they have to wait 6 weeks for the ground to settle or it will crack.

    • @MrChristopoop
      @MrChristopoop 3 роки тому +3

      Depending on settling, you could have ground settle for up to a year or two later. We put pool in summer of 2016, concrete deck added I. Two months after. Even with plate companion it has settled some still. Our poll company uses a steel frame that extended off the wall pieces and supports concrete decking if a void develops. We have some hairline cracks in the spacers that they placed, so that at least has worked. Where concrete ends I have techo blok pavers (blue 60mm with a soldier course of black onyx bricks, almost looks like exact type or at least style this family has). The soldier course against the deck has sunk a bit, especially along length where deep end ladder is. Last spring while I was held out of work for a covid close contact, I tore up that soldier course run, compacted more crusher run gravel and new concrete sand to re lay those pavers. If you get backfill of a compacting style gravel and your mason/contractor compacts it in four inch lifts or less, you will have a pretty good defense against that area settling. We know a couple that waited til the following year to pour their decking (we have a large 1500 square foot patio around our pool, theirs dwarfs ours and is all concrete). They wanted to ensure it had fully settled. They had not observed any cracks as of yet. We reside in CNY, tween Utica and Syracuse, so freeze thaw for concrete and ground heave is per of worry for settling. Moral of the story, longer you wait, more chance you won’t have to mess with fixing cracks in your concrete due to voids under it.
