The third emergency was Jetblue JBU355 which suffered engine fire during takeoff. Full ATC audio and video here -> ua-cam.com/video/iy1OO9eh8v0/v-deo.htmlsi=__x2DRwAa4PUx15D
actually, the engine fire is issue # 1
“Maybe had a little to much to drink here.”
“Alright totally understandable” - ATC is thinking he’s ready to hit the bar himself.
Underrated 😂
Totally understandable indeed 😂
Drinks are on ATC
ATC was ready to hit up the duty-free!
@@OwenPrescott The Hell it is. They're not paying for 1 drink after this juggling performance.
Incredible composure from the controller handling 3 emergencies at once, rerouting ground traffic and still handling others.
Indeed. This guy was the one on fire. Remember most unrelated communications are deleted so imagine the busy frequency there
Controller has to be glad everybody followed instructions and behaved - no wrong turns or overruns, no impatient pilots has to have kept the chaos organized
He was like: "Aight, anyone else?"
One emergency and two things that happen all the time
He must be thinking this feels like the simulator exercise from hell.
I like the pasting of two texts over each other - it expresses well the chaos of communications stepping on each other.
Yes, that was cool 😃👍
All details count on this channel :)
Because both were in the same aircraft. It was the two pilots in the cockpit. Since they use the same transmitter, comm doesnt get blocked, it just transmits two microphones
@@VASAviationit does? That's pretty odd in terms of radio tech. Is that something that would happen on most planes?
@@MarkPentlerusually its a non issue because one pilot gets the radio and another is doing something else but if I had to guess both were on radio listening to the chaos. Its an instinct when drama is unfolding.
"I'm sorry wrong person"
"No, I had a strip out but that was the guy who's plane got caught on fire."
Words you don't hear every day, nor do you want to.
@@johnopalko5223 ... Yep, when you get confused between the guy on fire, the guy with the medical emergency, and the violent drink guy, you know you are not having a good day. Wrong week to quit sniffing glue!
Correction to the caption... "guy who's plane almost caught on fire"
@@adb012don't forget the amphetamines!
weeb
The controller just accepted that it was just gonna be that kind of day and went with it. He did really really well.
As the old song goes: Mama said there’d be days like this!
This controller was wheeling and dealing, man! He is on fire!! What a professional!!
Naw, the JetBlue was on fire. This guy was cool and collected.

I like this ATC, he reminds me of the legendary Kennedy Steve. Concise, relaxed, and exceedingly skilled.
Yep. Thought the same.
2:09 Did you catch the "Iberia?"
I was thinking that too.
Hell Steve probably trained him
Your new callsign: Guy on Fire
Kennedy's ground controllers have been UA-cam legends for years.
I'd love to hear Kennedy Steve's take on these events.
@@beachbum77979 his voice even sounds a bit like Steve's, but he's way too chill compared to him.. 😅 even though pilots were not the ones messing things up this time lol
If I were a junior ATC, working there would be my dream job. Learn from the best.
@@beachbum77979 Probably something like "I left the place in good hands." :D
Take notes, SFO controllers
I do work in a public transport dispatch/control center. It´s always the same: Either there´s totally nothing to handle, or hell is rolling over you. You need to be born for those jobs. ATC handled this situation by textbook.
Same in healthcare. On some nights, you can’t even breathe.
@@AEMoreira81 I do believe that. So I´m really thankful for your daily hard work.
Well done ATC, for having to handle 3 emergencies at once. Not a simple thing to do
One emergency and two inconveniences
At least they were all on the ground and no mayday. Even the engine fire was fortunately minimal.
We don't know what the hell is going on.... 🤣🤣 Awesome pilot. I'd dispatch for him any day
I love the man's honesty and clarity in saying that on frequency.
Insanely well done by ATC there and all parties involved. Concise, to the point, all sorted perfectly well. Could only imagine if this was at SFO...
Hahaha yes really - SFO: the land of the easily ******-hurt controllers XD
Uhh, SFO, please take note of the professional controllers here.
@@markmaki4460well it is California…
Oh SFO, just can’t stop hating :(. JFK isn’t always nice to be fair though, luckily the ATC controller was not in a bad mood.
This sounds like a very experienced aircraft controller says when the ATC is doing training, "Let's throw him a curve, then a slider, then a knuckle! Let's see how he reacts!" Well done! Well done!
Holy Mother of God. 3 emergencies at one time.....
That kennedy controller, whoever they are, better get a bloody award for that.
I’m sure the controller wanted a Bloody Mary!
Sorry but a guy who is drunk and didn't even do any specific things isn't an emergency.
That was 2 emergencies and an asshole
"a plane caught fire..."
Pilot: oh...
Pilot: We got a guy that says he's gonna faint
Tower: that's not good
😂
This controller was amazing and he even kept his sense of humour 😍
Yeah, these things do tend to come in 3s. Good on JFK Ground for handling it relatively smoothly.
This guy is good. No panic, no lock-up. No screeching and hair on fire... asking useful and pertinent questions...cool as can be. Great job man!
What a dog for handling 3 whole emergencies. HUGE kudos.
At least all of them were on the ground, can't imagine the stress if there were three emergency airplanes needing to land at the same time.
I think someone would find themselves on the way to Teterboro if that happened.
had there ever been a situation where more than 2 emergencies were happening in the air? ive seen 2 before, but has 3+ ever happened?
@@GreatCdn59sure, fog or other adverse conditions at a major often cause multiple bingo calls to stack up. Luckily that's generally going to be handled by center so not just one or two controllers.
Hearing "totally understandable" said by an actual ATC in real life, I just can't help but think of Airforceproud95 saying that line. Real life is also chaos sometimes. Awesome job by the ATC and pilots.
I was half expecting a hot air balloon to join the chat.
😂😂😂 missing the hot air balloon there.
🤣 I was scrolling down for this comment
Plot twist: ATC is an Airpanda99 fan.
Plot twist: ATC is an Airpanda99 fan.
Controller gushed that 'oh ha' like it was no surprise. He has composure of steel and nerves of titanium.
Ground did an amazing job. Kept things going as best they could while juggling 3 Emergencies and kept in good spirits. I like that they tool a moment to remark about the 3 concurrent emergencies. Shows that there are still human beings under all that professionalism.
Incredible performance by the controller. I would have placed the headphones on the table and gone home 😂
Sometimes the best end to a journey is no journey at all.
How ATC keep track of everything and not getting lost is beyond me.
Training and practice as well as flight strips and computer screens.
He was like: "Aight, anyone else?"
Nice to hear the laid-back JB pilot again , ATC worked very well and collected.😃👍
I'm guessing those passengers heard they were going to be stuck for another 30 minutes and lost their shit.
Wow, 3 simultaneous emergencies and not one of them left the ground. I feel like that's kind of rare. Easier for ATC though, I guess
I was thinking the same thing that it's wild they're all on ground, but I would say it's harder for ATC. Air emergency is harder on pilots but ground emergencies it's not like you can tell a plane to fly over another plane. Especially at JFK moving ground emergencies must be like those sliding tile puzzles.
@@xplayman on the other hand, air emergencies often require pilots to stop on the runway (or otherwise close it for debris or something) for an extended period of time. Plus once they are on the ground, they still have to taxi anyway. On the ground, they can take taxi instructions and just go. Other planes on intersecting taxiways can stop or get out of their way and let them taxi first, more easily than making pilots go around while on approach. Even if a pilot does need to stop in the middle of the taxiway, other emergency aircraft can use alternative taxiways to get around. There aren't always multiple suitable runways to use if the first emergency blocks the primary runway
@@spelldaddy5386 That's still supporting my point. Emergencies are harder for ground controllers than air controllers. Even in the case of a blocked runway the controller can tell me to fly runway heading and contact departure or fly the published missed approach and contact departure. And air controllers have holding options for me. On the ground there are no published ground procedures like STARs, SIDs, or approaches. So the ground controller has to figure out where room is available and then issue unique instructions to each aircraft involved in the move they're trying to make. Ground is hard. Your options are limited. Air is all about timing and if you screw up the timing you have options like speed change or vectors. When you have an air emergency everything moves out of the way and it's all on the pilot.
Why compare the two? This controller did a fantastic job that nobody in this comment section could ever do. No need to downplay how much easier it might be when it’s super difficult to begin with.
@@soche3455 Again, that's the point. The original comment said it was easier and I'm saying this situation is harder for the ground controller and he handled it well. No one told him there was an emergency incoming so he could prepare anything. He had 3 emergencies he had to factor on the spot. It's hard enough with one emergency in your face but 3 with the limitations you have on ground. Excellent job.
Thank you for taking the time to post these vids, We really appreciate it. Props to the ATC for handling the situation calmly.
What a delight. A ground controller ice skating through it all, and pilots interacting laid-back and understanding.
My God...CHAOS.
Great job dealing with all that.
Legend has it Iberia is still trying to join the chat.
Mr. Vas Aviation. U do a great job!! I really enjoy this channel. Blancolirio always praises u as well. We get the real deal with u. The fun ones r when the pilots talk smack to the controllers or vic versa!! Thank u for your hard work!!
Thanks for your support!
Three emergencies on his plate and the guy stays cool as a cucumber. Hats off to that ground controller
people who are violent on planes should get serious prison time.
Ground took it like a champ tho!
Well, at least a 4th emergency didn't pop up after he said they come in threes. 😉😂 Seriously though, fine job by the Ground Controller.
What an absolute mess-well handled by all.
Quite the trifecta here, the possibility of having fire, ems, and police responding to separate incidents in the area.
This guy is a legend. Just how smoothly he transitions between the different emergencies and some of his side comments. Professional and funny. Salue to the guy!
Maybe this guy can go to San Francisco for a few months and train Captain Kaiser over there...
JetBlue was also on fire? I thought only controller was on fire. 🤣🤣
Awesome job!
Lit
To be fair, the other 2 emergencies are rather light to handle since they are still on taxi phase. Send them back to ramp and its probably gonna be resolved by the crew.
He Definitely handled the more serious emergency better imho. Since its actually could lead to the immediate safety of everyone onboard.
One thing for sure though. Once it comes in three, better start jugglin'
And juggle it good.
Great job by the controller to manage to handle 3 situations at once. He was very professional and took care of each situation very quickly.
Nice job by the tower sorting things out. Very busy place without simultaneous emergency’s.
Not just 3 emergencies at one time, at one point, 3 emergencies on consecutive planes.... wow.
In the fine tradition of the great Kennedy Steve Abraham. Would have been great to hear him handle this, with the one-liners popping off.
Some day semi-soon, in the medium or maybe not too distant future, Mars launch season will be just as chaotic as this.
Quick question: how disruptive is it that 'delta' is used both for taxiways as well as the call sign for a major airline? Have there been any incidents from it?
Kennedy ATCs are the best! 🎉
This ground controller is absolutely fantastic, what a professional.
When He laughed I cried 😂😂 3 emergencies he was about to lose his mind in another life ahhahaha
I am glad everyone is talking about the controller doing great, and he did. But it was another aircraft that first reported the fire on Jetblue. And, while emergency aircraft are trying to taxi back to the terminal, I'm hearing things that tell me that everyone is aware that things have just been screwed to all heck and back and are watching things very closely, also. They know the controller has a lot on his mind and that is when mistakes happen (the controller didn't screw anything, but they were all ready, just in case). Everyone was watching the backs of everyone else. And that is the way it should be.
Wow, what a cluster. Glad it was all on the ground before anyone got in the air, though.
Honestly controllers like this are insane. Fantastic work keeping composure and still keeping everything rolling. I know I wouldn't be able to keep track of all of that.
That Ground Controller was a boss. So well done.
"Alright, so here's the deal with us..." Hahaha! Everyone has SOMEthing they're dealing with!
“How was your day at work?”
“Well since you ask…”
Pulls up this video . . .
JFK controllers can get a reputation sometimes but this guy was incredibly patient and accommodating with everything going on.
Outstanding ATC 👍🏻
Bringing your A game VASAviation as always! Good video as usual.
Controller: “looks like I picked the wrong week to quit smoking.”
😂
Dang. Kudos to him for an incredible performance.
Somebody in one of the planes wished the ATC a "Quiet day".
If this controller just gets some joke, he could be the next Kennedy Steve
Great job ground control
That was exhilarating.
Awesome job from both pilots & etc.
I want that guy in the tower when I fly, not perfect, but he kept in contact with everyone and knew in his minds eye the situational awareness he needed and resolved everything calmly. The pilots all sounded a bit grump[y, but I can appreciate why, I have having to go back home when I forget something, bet these pilots felt no different.
Such a professional controller
This is truly a microcosm of life in NYC. There's always something going on somewhere and some of it ain't that good. We take it in our stride and go about things, maybe that's why the controller was so chill 😂
Woah that must have been so stressful but the controller handled it well. Phew
"oh boy time to put on the hero pants" -- jfk ground, probably
Well that's interesting. I guess it clears up why I thought the controller didn't sound 100% during the previous (engine on fire) video. Still handled all 3 pretty well. Violent drunk people suck.
Give me a happy drunk any day.
🇫🇮 I liked the way the 🇺🇸 controller pronounced 🇪🇸 Iberia. 🤪 Bien hecho.
Shouldn't be allowed to drink on flights.
Totally understandable. Im here with a couple of margaritas
Would be surprised if the first emergency didn’t at least partially cause the next two. Passengers seeing another plane on fire and panicking about their own flight.
Nice work by the controller. Cold beer reqd after this shift no doubt.
It is at this exact moment that the air traffic controllers actual job is reflected in the pay!
Wonder if the airline gate checked the guys luggage with medication in it ?
be probaby boarded in one of the later groups, when there are rarely overheads available near your seat once you finally board, so it was probably hard to remember
Great job by the controller
I love how the controller sounds like, just another day at work lol
Great work!
That's wild, but I guess when you're still taxing around on the ground is probably about the best case scenario for an emergency on an airplane
very competent ground controller
We need to raise the fares significantly. When anyone can fly, you get a bunch of idiots on the plane and it is getting progressively worse every year.
He left his medicine somewhere and he's gonna faint if he doesn't get it
Oh boy jfk gnd got 3 out of 3 emergencies it’s like a waitress in a pack restaurant
God, what a great job! Super intense day for that people!
Reminded me of the original movie AIRPORT (1975?).
That controller definitely drank when he get got home.
Once everything is over and the ground controller got relieved by the next guy and had a few minutes to settle down, I bet he was good.
I think he probably thrives on the adrenaline rush and the ego boost from events like that. Not easy, but he can handle 3 emergencies at once like a boss and a true professional without being overwhelmed. His coworkers know it and respect him for it, and he's proud of himself for it and having their respect, and that's what matters.
An atlas 747 had an engine on fire after takeoff from Miami recently. Could you please make a video on this?
Atc guy was on it. Impressive to hear
wow, in total, 3 emergencies in JFK Airport, one which was an engine failure and now the other two which was passenger issues, gee this kinda reminds me of Boston Logan Airport having 3 emergency landings back in 2013 but the difference is that it was 3 days and it had different purpose, like US Airways Flight 2127 having a Flap failure, JetBlue Flight 909 had a door opened, and FedEx Flight 555 having an air speed indicator failure, but yeah this has got to be a rare moment of having a lot of emergencies at a one day only
Talk about earning your money. Total pro.
That is not a radio show. That is real time drama.
