  • In this video I show all the DIY'ers a tool that makes the job of installing your camshaft and crankshaft seals very easy. Cody also makes a tool for the rear main seal. If you want to order a set of these tools, you can email him at azcartoys@gmail.com or buy from his ebay listing at ebay.us/j97ruL

    Well I know what I'll be ordering once the holidays are over!! Thought just my VVTI gasket was bad after replacing the solenoid but turns out it was the whole crank seal. Props!! 👍2

      @@RacecarAndChill already plan on it. This is my first build of my own. My X-Mas gift which is gasket kit, timing kit w/ water pump, seals & PS relocation kit. Honestly best gift ever!! Didn't have the cash to drop into my swap at first as I just finished it two months ago but haven't been able to drive in over a month due to ankle surgery and not being able to use my left foot. Basically doing a full refresh aside from head gasket as compression was good and doing the bottom end. Gonna do those if the time comes. Got the car in September and been dying to get my new daily on the road. FMIC is done as well as gauges & turbo/mani upgrade.

    Hey man, I'm looking for a new vvti for my 2j, and wondering if you would have any recommendations of where to buy one. Very informational videos. Thanks

    I saw a guy use a 1 1/4, and 1 1/2 inch pvc diameter piece to put the seals back on..

    I’m going to try this with pvc piping

      That might work if you can find the right diameter

      @@Adam-FR no, I didnt take this one apart, but there is a video already out on replacing that seal. It's pretty easy. Just take the 5 bolts out of the vvti gear and it comes apart. It only goes back together pretty much 1 way. Do not over tighten the bolts when you put the gear back together. Ive broken a bolt before.

    It funny how I found oil being slung around my timing cover just 48 hours ago, which means the crank and cam seals are shot, please tell me you have a detailed guide coming 😢

      I have a timing belt video. It gets you all the way there. The only part I dont show is taking the old seal out. You kind of just pick at it until it comes out.

      @@RacecarAndChill I've seen the timing belt one, but when it comes to removing the cam gears it's gets sketchy because you can really mess with the timing

    • @RacecarAndChill
      @RacecarAndChill  4 роки тому +1

      @@djh9267 it's really not that sketchy. You just gotta have a big wrench on the cam holding it in place. I'll dig and see if I have footage of it. But it's ok if they move a little bit. When you put the cam back on, you'll see that it's off and align it before putting the belt on.

      @@RacecarAndChillThanks for the continued replies, I went back and watched most of it, one question, you said in that video to turn the engine over manually once the timing belt is back on, and to see if everything is ok, if it isn't, what are you expected to hear/see?

    • @RacecarAndChill
      @RacecarAndChill  4 роки тому +1

      @@djh9267 you'll feel the piston and valve make contact while its rotating. Itll get hard to turn over. If you have the spark plugs out, it should be pretty easy to turn it over.
