Gotta love it when you can buy a Lisle tool for pennies compared to the big names and the Lisle one is the one that works all the time every time. I love gravy, especially on mashed potatoes.
mmm mashed potatoes :) Stupid simple design but it works and works well!
That's why I I bought the set was for the puller part of it ,and it has worked great for me. I have several cam and crank seal installers but really nothing to remove them except the occasional screw, and your right things can go horribly wrong, luckily I was able to fix the slight nick in the crank. I have seen the lisle seal remover but it looked kinda cheesy, maybe I'll give it a try. Thanks for taking time to make these videos.
Those tools are definitely in my to buy list !! Excellent information !! 👍
Thank you!
I bought that seal installer when I did a tbelt on a 84 porche 944. Paid its self off that day. 🖒
Yep, easy to justify this tool! and eww! 944;)
I have both tools and they are pretty awesome. I have an assortment of longer bolts to use with the installer because the ones that hold the cam gear on are usually not long enough.
Just ordered the Lisle tool... yeah, the legs of the puller break (I've got the same kit)!
I have not broken a tip yet, watch I will break it next time I use it, mine came with a spare tip, were it is not sure:(
can never have enough tools
Nope!
I've got both of these, and they're awesome.
I know right!
Another great video thanks FRM.
Thanks!
Thanks for your tips. Your "Gravy Train" is my first time DIY "Mt. Everest" on an RX300 timing belt, water pump and seals project. About to do the seals today and have the Lisle tool you recommend. To put the suckers back on I built a jig of 1/2 slice of 1 1/2 inch diameter PVC pipe to uniformly push and using a 7 1/4 inch was blade as the backing plate to screw the suckers in (didn't have a gigantic washer lying around. Man that is tight clearance on Cam 1 on Toyota V6. Any tips on putting 159 foot pounds of torque on the crank bolt?? I made Mark's on bolt and pulley prior to bumping starter to remove. Can I stop my I
H-F impact wrench when mark's align and I'm good? I saw 1AAuto builds a holder with a 3 ft. piece of 2x4 for using regular torque wrench.
I used the kit puller on the camshaft seal on an Accord but was not able to use it on the crankshaft seal. There is not enough clearance to use it on the crankshaft due to the surrounding lip on the cover. Wish I had the Lisle tool. Will have to try drilling out the seal.
hell yeah this dudes on point
Thanks!
Cool stuff.
Thanks!
Thank you
Thanks for the info
I have seen cam seals installed wrong due to the wrong tool used. One was installed with a screwdriver and did leak.A drywall screw works good as a cam and crank seal puller,do have to be careful not to nick the cam and crank just like the machine screw.
SO have i, and got to clean up the mess they made:(
I Like Gravy as long as it comes with biscuits!
i like timing belts covered in gravy
i like gravy!
heck gravy just in a cup:)
Gravy is a beverage.
DOHC V6 with separate cam sprockets on each bank is kinda sorta not gravy.
We don't talk about those:( hate those Opel engines in caddys and saturns
A flat rate master I know this is unrelated to your video but I was wondering if you can make a video on how to maximize your time being on flat rate to make the most of your day. I make less and less every year I'm starting to wonder if it's me or my work habits or just harder to make money like it used to be
I can and will:)
Flatrate Master thanks!
If used a screw to remove the seals, this tool would be great to have
It comes in handy a lot!
does this kit work for rear crankshaft oil seals?
No it doesn't
Do you absolutely need the installer? I have replaced before but I recently started school at UTI and the beat the hell out of the “fact” that you needed it but they are very expensive and vehicle specific
Many you do not, but some you can't do it without it
Thank you very much for your replies and how fast they were !!👍🏽👍🏽
Never had a problem removing or installing seals. You have to have correct tools or follow procedure removing and installing the cam gear sprocket or it will break! Some models you may have to go to junkyard or wait 2 weeks for another gear. Tech or shop has to eat it! Proper torque on the cam gear / sprocket is critical, but these things will shatter if not done properly. On flatrate, you probably won't get paid much more or anything if replacing seals. If it's under warranty and seal is not leaking, don't touch it!
I get paid extra for every cam and crank seal, I do not work for free:) I have a couple cam holding tools, but that is another show;)
WTF it says cam/crank and wont do crank????
if you dont like gravy work. something is wrong with you lol
pretty much!
