Have them both in my garage, the ZZR is the daily user bike, love that you could do almost everything with this bike, the H2 is just an experiance to ride, something really different from everything else and you never get tired of looking at the details of this bike.
There's a guy with a video on here who owns both. He said the ZX14r is his favorite and just as fast. In the 1/4 mile the ZX14R is actually the faster bike because it can keep the front end down.
And it's way way cheaper, way more comfortable, won't look 'dated' in three years time, does not drop value like a wingless plane, you can get a passenger on the back, it's cheaper to insure, less likely to be stolen, and far better looking. Just saying.
ZZR1400 any day.For me ZZR is most complete bike I could have. Power, comfort, range on one tank . Few custom parts to change and you will never change it.H2 is super quick for racing and feeling the buzz but expensive to purchase and limited with usibility.
I think most people want the zx14r only because of acceleration. But it’s how refined and comfortable it is that makes me keep it. I love just cruising with it.
The ZZR is the ultimate package for me. I’d go for the ZZR for every day road use and weekend blasts and the H2 for the track. it’s just a bit too much for the roads. I think the ZZR would be more comfortable, stable and easier to use it’s power.
Couldn't have put it better myself, the zzr can do everything in comfort. Do an ecu flash and full decat pipe and you're looking at 205+ bhp and 120 lb ft at the rear wheel with at least 100 lb ft torque available from 5k to 11k rpm and 14 kilos lighter than stock. What more do you want?!
Both bikes are bonkers... I would agree the zzr1400 (zx14, whatever) is a faster 1/4 mile bike no contest. Longer wheelbase stock and TQ lower in the powerband. An H2 is lucky to get low 10's in a 1/4 mile... Mid-to high 10s are normal - while a stock ZX14 is sub-10s all day long, mid 9s if you are good with an average experienced rider. All Hyperbikes (including the H2/H2R) and all litre class bikes are limited by wheelbase to about mid-low 10s - you simply cannot put more usable power on the shorter wheelbase. Zx14 is longer, with more weight up front - thus mid 9's are easily achievable.
I'll trade up my zx14r when kawi super charges a 1400 and puts it in a similar chassis. Did 1100km the other day in absolute comfort. Id do it again. An H2 just can't compete on the street, as an owner and daily rider. The zx is a way better bike everywhere.
I bought a ninja 1000R 1986 brand new at Boston bike show, 4,400 bucks, the dealer was pissed at the salesman when I picked it up, he said 5,600, I said no, here's the salesman's signature and he grudgingly caved. Back then it was so fast compared to most vehicles, not many people knew, I didn't see one like mine for about a year, Porsche or Vette would pull up next to me,lol, I'd be doing 80 before they shifted into 2 nd gear .. loved that bike, smooth, it's cool to see a real motorcycle guy give his opinion, no question there's faster bikes, but anyone who drives daily in the real world will tell you comfort is important.
Right so let get this straight You said 0 to 180 on the H2 15 secs And 22 to 23 secs on the ZZR The quarter-mile time on the ZZR is 9.52 at 149 Are you seriously telling me it takes another 12 to 13 seconds to pull the next 30 MPH ? I've full throttled mine from 150 to the limiter in 5th ( 186 MPH ) And i can tell you it took a few seconds , not over 10
PS I have an OLDER zx14, with a 10 inch swingarm extension, and powercommander - even the older bikes with this are easy mid-high 9s all day long - I would know; the litrebikes have me in the corners, but NOTHING touches the big Kwak on a straight line, and that includes the latest gen of bikes.... not because of power but because of bike geometry. The big Kwaks will lose out on the total top end however, as the H2 is just getting it's breath above 200 km/h and keeps a near/linear acceleration through to above 300 km/h. Most '14s with the top limiter removed, will hit 325 - slowly. An H2 will get there much quicker. However, per last post the zzr1400 (or what ever you want to call it) owns the 1/4.
JimWakable I have heard that the ZX-14R is quite restricted as compared to the H2 and with an ECU flash and full intake and exhaust is faster than an H2 Even at the top end. Pulls clean to 320+ish speeds on vbox as well.
JimWakable greetings from Canada, I got 2008zx14 special edition it's turbocharged, bst rims, and lots of other little goodies, at 308hp and 156pounds of torque I fear nothing! But GOD..
Only problem with this, a ZX14R/ZZR1400 with the extra money put into just a couple parts would monster the H2 in speed and power both. Turbo and supporting mods would be less than 6k USD. If you aren't looking for all out monster numbers.
But the zx14 with those mods wouldn't be much faster if any , wouldn't turn as well or brake . The H2 has superior suspension and even though the special edition 14 has the same brakes it weighs almost 70 pounds more . And the people who have the h2 can afford most bikes. It's about owning somehow special and limited .
With the huge difference in price tags between the H2 and the ZX14, you can certainly get the best suspension out there. Surely better than the stock H2. OFC flicking the bike will never be as fast but the ZX is a 1400cc hypertourer/GT bike not a track bike.
Kody Tuggle done it with my 2008 ZX14 turbo,BST rims,8" McIntosh S.arm.yesterday I put 94 octane it registered 308hp on the dyno. 9k miles runs like new,but extremely hot in the city!
What is the ZZR like in terms of comfort for long distances? I'd love to buy one and take it to Italy from the UK. My old Hayabusa was amazing but was too uncomfortable for long journeys.
Had both, hayabusa and now zzr1400. On the hayabusa I felt pain on the neck and in long distances, felt the knees were too bend. No pains on the zzr1400!
+James Barron Hi James. The ZZR 1400 did a 1/4 mile from a standing start in 10.27 seconds @ 150.16mph. The H2 did it in 9.31 seconds @ 156.52mph. However, the H2 did not have the quick shifter engaged or traction control so we think this could have been even better.. Both times were set by the same rider. Also, from 150 - 180 mph it took the H2 just 4.75 seconds, where as it took the ZZR 11.45 seconds. A big difference on top end.
I just don't get how though on paper. Power wise, they make about the same power. Wheel HP is slightly higher on the ZZR. Weight-wise, the H2 is 10% lighter. Where is the extra sauce coming from to make the H2 1 second quicker in the quarter (in your test, which was 0.75s slower than some tests) and so much faster at the top end?
+Trollygag I agree... the 1/4 mi times don't match the numbers other people or media get. The 14r is a sub 10 sec bike all day, ask Ricky Gadson, hell I own a 30th Anniversary edition 14r. I'm not hating on the H2 cause I want one but, there seems to be a lot of bias out there when new toys come out...
Yeah I wouldn't mind one in my living room or garage either but when I have to go for a ride I'd take the 14 any day of the week. I've got a 2013 model & it's awesome but it still takes turns with my Gen 2 Busa, also awesome but a quick fang on the H2 would be fun just to clear the cobwebs but in the real everyday riding world I don't really think so.
Any newer big bore or liter bike will hit mid to low nines with practice, been riding over 40 years love the advances in tech , not too fond of having to reflash the eco to get real performance , unfortunately you don’t have a choice if you want the real deal
The zzr is my favourite. It's a real bike for real use. I would like a H2 but it's a toy, buy it for cheap enough and keep it for long enough it's an investment.
Funny I feel the same as you put the H2 in the living room, and I do own 2008 ZX14special edition turbocharged, bst rims,Ohlins,330mm Braketechs, and I would put my money down my old gal would pull away at 150mph from H2 will see soon enough my buddy just purchased H2. Only 94 octane my bike on the dyno yesterday is pushing 308 bhp
Curious how the busa levels up in this comparison. I don't get the H2 to be honest. Seems not quite nimble enough for the 1000 super sport races but it's not quite a super sport touring bike like the busa or ZZR, either. What the heck is it?
+MrSlowestD16 I think the Hayabusa would be very close to the ZX14R. Similar size, similar weight, maybe short like 8 horsepower, and I don't think it has traction control (although they 2013 and newer have ABS I believe) but it'll be a lot closer to a ZX14R than an H2..price is about the same as the ZX14 as well.
+74orangebeetle Yeah, out of the 2 it's def. closer to the ZX14 than the H2, but it's still a very different bike, despite it only being an 8hp difference. Would have been nice to see it here as a 3rd entry.
Ive a kawasaki h2 sx se plus proformance tourin most comfortable bike i ever drove the and i had a lot of bad injuires the sittin and ridin poistion is just fuckin perfect for me wide seat and high bars and the quick quick shifter is just smooth and fuckin bang on best bike that ill think that ill ever drive i had a zzr1400 nice bike too bur to streashed out lyin on the bank with my arms streshed the h2 is way more lighter and quicker in and out of corners just tip in and out like a good race bike
i like those bikes, no doubt about it, yet im not into big displacement bikes, so i'd get a gsxr750 motogp and £12000 of fuel to fool around and some powermods for the price of the h2
Funny that. I test rode a brand new BMW K1300S the other day (very similar to the ZZR here) and came to the same conclusion. Now I'm lookin at buying a GSXR 750 and perhaps a Supermoto. And still have some change.
How can I take you seriously as an experienced rider who has anything important to say when you drag your feet leaving from a stopped position? If you cannot keep your balance at launch then I will suggest that maybe you should put the camera away and focus on the riding.
Have them both in my garage, the ZZR is the daily user bike, love that you could do almost everything with this bike, the H2 is just an experiance to ride, something really different from everything else and you never get tired of looking at the details of this bike.
Daily, daily?
Will never part with my 2013 ZX-14R. Just too good in all areas. A true all day fire breather!
honest to God I still love the 14 even a whole lot more than the H2R!!!!
Nice shots of that big green z14r on the highways and the track.. thx !
I fell in love with bikes the first time I saw a zx14r. Dont want no other bike than a zx14

Great work guys!
Neevesy - pretty sure I saw you going across the delightful dartford crossing this afternoon.
do exhaust, gearing and a tune on the 14 and retest please.
I'd prefer a 14r any day over a h2
Hence I bought one.....stonking machine....

did you guys record any lap times? I am very curious on how the zx14r does on the track compared to lighter bikes.

zzr 1400 is a legend ❤️🖤
Sadly Chad is a bell-end.
Your recent videos keep getting better and better mcn keep up the great work, that h2 makes my r1 look slow
Good points in a good review. Nice to have both
I have the ZZR 1400 and it’s my choice over the H2 for long distance.
Is that Shane Byrne bsb champ in the background in the pit garage at 54 seconds??
I would like the ZZR1200 got more attention. I like it almost as much as the 1400.

Right so let get this straight
You said 0 to 180 on the H2 15 secs
And 22 to 23 secs on the ZZR
The quarter-mile time on the ZZR is 9.52 at 149
Are you seriously telling me it takes another 12 to 13 seconds to pull the next 30 MPH ?

@@akybosule awesome. I've got the ZZR now, and some bar risers in the post. Will hopefully be going to the Pyrenees in the spring time.
I would like to see 1/4 mile times on each bike with same rider
+James Barron Hi James. The ZZR 1400 did a 1/4 mile from a standing start in 10.27 seconds @ 150.16mph. The H2 did it in 9.31 seconds @ 156.52mph. +MCN - Motorcyclenews.com What are the highest dyno readings you have recorded from the H2 and ZZR?
+MCN - Motorcyclenews.com I own a zx14r and its insanely fast. I can only imagine the speed of a H2r if the H2 is that fast

come on guys...test both bikes against s1000rr in a straight line....we all want to see that.......or H2R vs LS218.
how about a H2 with the supercharger removed against the Naturally aspirated bike's, now that would be interesting
so zx-10....
"That's the one I want in my living room and in my garage"...But for everything else, it has to be the ZZR....

Can’t say I’ve tried any bikes that’s better then the Zx14r.. personally that is.. but the H2 is seriously teasing me.. decisions.. decisions..

I keep forgeting how huge that ZZR is. Feels like you can seat two passangers.
OFC you can. I regularly rode it two up with my wife and I'm a very big guy (2.08m 125 kg).
Brilliant.
Oh did I just see mcn speeding on a public road.....

Kawasaki h2 sx se plus
Zx14r got everything for average joe needs
You should compare with h2 sx
nah, zx14 is a different beast ... out of the great 3 sport touring bikes, the Honda XX, ZX14, the Hayabusa is standing last unfortunatelly..
H2 is a single person only so unless your wife is the size of a back pack its a poor analogy, love both bikes preference is the 14

Adam Child is an instructor?!!!!!!!!
Haha where u got these numbers form mate !!
I HAVEA H2 SXSE AND LOVE IT BUT WANT A ZZR 14 IN MY GARAGE
Love both bikes but I decide to take the H2R
The H2 faster? no way who would of thought a SUPERCHARGED hyperbike would be faster...
Well that zx14 is 1441 displacement with 210 hp with ram air which is similar to the H2 I believe
And it weighs 30kgs more than the H2
I'd rather drag knees instead of pinning it in a straight line.
You're comparing apples to oranges my friend. Drag racing and road racing are two completely different zen's.
Comfortable smooth big girl 😜 yeah like one of those
Question: is the h2 scary to ride?
+Melvin Nix the owners prefer lowered, the acceleration is soo brutal in the H2, with wheelies at 240 km/h
I've power wheelies in 5th gear and spun the tire in 3rd on my H2.
increase anybody see one's better this onh
How can I take you seriously as an experienced rider who has anything important to say when you drag your feet leaving from a stopped position? If you cannot keep your balance at launch then I will suggest that maybe you should put the camera away and focus on the riding.
haha
h2 ' when you go to germany' !!!
Bad example of motorway driving guys, and speeding in a 30 zone.
Realised no one cares about mcn reviews anymore
were is the BMW and Ducati? I guss they didn't want to make them look bad.
