42 year old here, bought a 2006 ZX14 (3 months ago) after figuring out that I absolutely do not like my R1150GS (riding-wise). Sat on a Hayabusa and it's definitely not as good for very tall people (6'7") as the ZX14. So I went with the ZX14 and I absolutely love it. Previous owner fixed it up with Öhlins shocks, and all lights etc black on black. I messed the optics up by putting a huge Givi topcase on the back. Not the right bike for this as the rear is not built for carrying weight and there aren't many anchor points for straps. But doesn't matter: if this is the bike you want to ride, you just make it work. It is ridiculously overpowered, really never rev it over 8-9k rpms. Just way too fast. Very smooth in lower rpms but at about 5k rpm all hell breaks loose. The 2006 does not have wheelie control, ABS or anything the like. More than once the front wheel accidentally came up. A close friend who looks exactly like me with the same bike sometimes does 120 mph for a few seconds on the highway, it takes about 3 seconds to get there from 75 mph. Adrenaline rush. I really love the bike but you need some self control.
I had the opportunity to ride a coworker's zx-14 a few years back. I'm a cruiser fan at heart but riding that beast was one of those life altering experiences... I lifted the front tire without even trying at 80 mph...
The one thing that always did amaze the hell out of me was just how simple and easy it was for all of the bigger cc bikes to pull the front wheel off the ground while running 80mph+, with no more than just a LITTLE twist of the throttle!!! Now, the one thing that was always sure to give me really good laugh after seeing the bigger cc bikes effortlessly lifting the front wheel off the ground was when I’d see all of the guys out here on the 600cc bikes that really believed that their 600 was really something to be reckoned with, yet even when they’d rev the engine and dump the clutch they would have a hard time riding long wheelies solely due to the sheer lack of power. I mean, just think about it though, a Hayabusa and the ZX14 BOTH have engines that are literally MORE than DOUBLE the size of those puny little 600cc bikes… and so, MORE than DOUBLE the horsepower was an absolute understatement, at best!!! And yes, for those who don’t get it, I know very well that there are 600cc bike out there that can ride on the back wheel until you decide to put it back down on two wheels, WITH the RIGHT rider!!! However, I am ONLY talking about all of the guys that had been riding a while but never learned or were taught how to wheelie and what they ended up learning on their own was that they were just too scared to do more than rev the hell out of the poor engine, dump the clutch and barely get the front wheel off the ground, simply because they let off the throttle just as soon as they let off the clutch and felt it lean back, any at all, fearing the bike would raise up so far that they were going to fall off the back and/or the guys that were just too new to the scene and was really doing good just to even be riding, let alone popping and riding wheelies.
@Cool as Ice Still in the twisties is where the better rider will shine. I've seen guys with the latest and greatest bike get obliterated by a great rider on a lesser bike and a lot of times with huge displacement differences.
I use this as a courier bike. I do 200+ miles a day (up to 600). It's done an average of 48.6 mpg. Tops out at 186mph (restricted). Love it to bits (which it will be one day).
@@CJonesFL... I was a courier in London (I quit now). Just typical business stuff. Documents, hard drives, keys, general "stuff". No private clients, all account work, just whatever they wanted going from A to B.
@@dabreez2489... Bits, I'm afraid. A car went through a red light at a junction. I T-boned it @ about 55mph. Stoved the front in completely. Bent the chassis. Such is life!!! Got a Fazer 800 after which I couldn't get on with (too meh!).
Bro, just bought a bike after an 8 year riding hiatus. It’s a Vulcan 900 custom, and I love it! I found your channel and subscribed. Good stuff man, and I LOVE how you incorporate the Word of God into your content; mad respect brother.
I've had 3 ZZR1400s (the European branding for the ZX14) over the past 13 years. Yes, undoubtedly they are fast bikes, and it's potentially very easy to get into trouble as the speed is deceptive, but I've used mine equally for commuting on a 30 mile ride into central London, and for rides out. 80,000 miles on the first, 29,000 on the second before I go knocked off it, and now 56,000 on my current one. Comfortable and easy to ride, fairly manoeuvrable in traffic, and competent at handling high mileages as they are so under-stressed, if Kawasaki hadn't dropped the model I'd have another one tomorrow.
I worked with a guy that used one of these as a commuter/tourer/track day tool. Has put over a 100k on it in a few years, very reliable, a bit service intensive, 4000miles rings a bell. This was his 2nd motorcycle. Ever. His first was a cbr1000r 😂👏 He absolutely adores it.
@@yourwifesboyfriend6081 I hear your point. I’ve known people who have done the same. I also people who have lost their lives starting out on liter bikes. Real talk
@@jeffreywashington5461 Absolutely. New riders usually overestimate their abilities, I know I was guilty of it, but I only had 70ish HP to get into trouble with.
@@yourwifesboyfriend6081 agreed. The lower the cc bike the more margin of error that you have. I started on a 600. Several years in after pushing that bike to its limits was I ready for a R1 and busa. Lastly keep in mind that most of the younger generation have zero experience with manual transmissions
The ZX-14 call is strong, I loved my busa when I had it. I'm enjoying some nostalgia with a 98 ZX9R but when I walking in to the dealership I talk to the ZX-14 and say you will be mine one day.
Came to the comments specifically for this. My 08 zx14 has dyno sheets for 175hp and 110 ft lbs at the wheel. And thats about as much as your getting from a first gen. He started with 154 hp and then said it has 154 ft lbs of torque which is wrong. I think it was just a matter of miscommunication not trying to missinform. But that bike is making 160hp stock and 100 or so foot lbs of torque. 2nd gens (2012 plus) are a whole different bike.
the 1st generation Suzuki Hayabusa with the 1st Generation Kawasaki ZX-14 (ZZR 1400) specifications and performance! The ZX-14 or ZZR 1400 was released in 2006 after the demise of the ZX-12R. This was probably the model that Kawasaki should have released back in 2000 unfortunately they didn't get it right until 6 years later. Furthermore why Kawasaki calls it two different names is a marketing issue to possibly rekindle prior owners of ZZR1100 memories. However dropping the 'R' seems sensible. So what ever you want to call the Kawasaki it is a seriously nice bike - I've even tried and almost bought one. However there is one big issue - the ZX-14 is not better than the Hayabusa - different yes - but not ultimately different enough - and that's why I didn't buy one. The fact that the original Hayabusa remained essentially unchanged since 1999 and a further two years after the release of the ZX-14 should tell you that Suzuki did the good job.
It's more a matter of taste. And every time I see a Busa, I think: that guy has bad taste 😁 To me the ZX-14 (rode an '09 for 10 years) has so much more style compared to the ostentatious Busa with it's fat ass.
I had an 06 zx14, that was tuned by Ivan, at Rockland county cycles. He is THE destination for zx14's. After a tune, full exhaust, secondary butterflies removed, power commander, secondary ignition module installed it made 189.7 at the wheel. From the factory, these were detuned horribly. The algorithm for the computer and secondary butterflies in the velocity stacks only allowed full power delivery for 15% of rpm range. The butterflies would remain mostly closed until full throttle. And right after that point the computer started pulling timing obnoxiously. It went from sedate to an absolute animal. But was awesomebtondrive if you had experience, skill, and respected its power. What he describes as "twitchy" at low rpm would be 100 x worse if you didnt know what to expect or how to use it. If you get ham-fisted, YOU WOULD DIE.
I had one just like it but with even more finer tweaks. Dyna tuned with even more horsepower. Not 1 Hyabusa could ever take me, especially on twisty coastal roads. It is a very forgiving bike! Loved the bike.
in 2008 they made a couple internal changes to the original engine, mostly in the oiling system but also reduced some internal vibration. Gen 1 and Gen 2 are both great, Gen 2 is just better.
Randy G how do you like your gtr14. ?? I’m seriously thinking about getting concours or the new zx14r. Are they both related pretty closely in performance?? I would like to know what you think. Thanks
@@theozman38 I have a 2012 Concours. So let's be real for a minute; NO, they are not BASICALLY the same bike, at all. The Connie is tuned for sports touring; the suspension is for sport touring, not even close to a true sportsbike. Don't get me wrong when I say this though; frankly almost none of the guys and gals in my team (about 450 ppl) can keep up with me when I go into DEVIL mode with the Connie. If you dare, it is more than capable to be sporty, but she's a big girl, and such, demands respect. Now, to the differences: Chain vs Shaft. I love the fact that my connie has a shaft, but of course, power output is quite different. Chain is way better at transmitting power to the rear wheel. Shaft loses a ton of horses there, but is super reliable and aside from a few ounces of hypoid oil every once in a while, maintenance free. The engine: The one on the concours IS NOT the same as that on the ZX14, even more different to the 2nd gen ZX14. The concours has about 1352 cc's. Concours has shorter cams, lower compression, smaller throttle bodies, cast instead of forged pistons, smaller exhaust. The engine cases are basically the same, but the connie is tuned for lower rpms. Concours 14 has a Variable valve timing module (VVT); ZX14 doesn't have that on the side of the intake cam. This little piece of engineering makes a huge difference. Bottom line, don't expect to (ab)use a Concours 14 as you would a ZX14. Not a good idea. Are they close in performance? My 2012 flashed by Ivan puts out about 160 hp give or take to the wheel. A ZX14 2nd gen bone stock will put out something like 185-190 to the wheel. Having said that, the Concours will perform each and every time; it is way faster than 90% of riders out there can handle. Once you have tried one, and put a huge grin on your face, you will understand. All the best!
Jeremy Doukler. Thanks for your reply and detailed honest opinion. The Connie is a sport touring bike ok I gotcha on that difference to the 14r. I hear so many people say it’s the same as the 14r but you’ve made it clear it’s a lot different and meant to be a tourer with a lot of grunts and speed but not a drag bike or to horse racing lol. I’ve heard people putting the stock 14r headers on the Connie to gain a few hp’s plus yah!! Ivan’s flash transforms it. Ok. Great information. Thanks a bunch. Ride safe.
@@theozman38 glad to help buddy. It is a common misconception that they have the same engine; I was even under the same (mistaken) impression for a while, but learned of the big differences later on. Yes, adding ZX14 headers may give you more hp up top (high revs) but flatter hp delivery on the below, where a sport tourer usually rides. Something to keep in mind. I preferred a good flash (Both Steve Sefsik at Shoodaben engineering or Ivan's flash are awesome) and a nice aftermarket pipe, and you are all set with all the HP you will need. Cheers buddy! Ride safe! :-)
A. The 14 didnt become a offical Busa killer until 2012 w the gen2 14r. B. Yes it did change from 08. See A. C. 154 ft lbs of tq is way high D. Power commander does not go under the seat. Its zip tied to left intake tract. I own a gen1 busa with full bolt ons and gen2 zx14r that's dyno tuned and I have also ridden many gen2 busas and I can honestly say this. A gen1 busa vs a gen1 14...14 gets waxed. A gen1 busa vs gen2 14r busa gets demolished. A gen2 busa vs gen2 14r....comes down to the rider.
@@redneckbear8090 no the 2nd gen busa came out in 2008 and is unchanged motor wise till now. The only difference in 2012 was it was offered with Brembo brakes. Other than that only the color have changed. Sorry to say but this guy really had no clue what he was talking about as far as specs.
Almost bought this bike in ‘07 to be set up for sport touring. I’m a big guy (6’4”-235lbs) and comfort was top priority. I settled on the Ducati ST3 at the time. Tough decision considering my best friend owned a Kawasaki dealership. Going with the Corbin side bags, bar risers and adjustable foot pegs made this thing incredible for long distance. You nailed the review!

This was my first bike, no problem handling it as a noob rider. It’s gentle as long as you show it respect. Great for long haul cross country trips. Really miss it, will buy one again for sure. Buy one with abs if you want one.
@@aries666dc Why not? It was the bike i wanted when i got my license. As i said, a 1400cc bike is no problem for a beginner as long as you use your head. Within the first year of owning it i took it for a 2500 mile road trip on holiday from the south of Norway and up north and back again. It was the perfect bike for me at the time.
I've owned both a ZX14 and Concours 14 at the same time. Just two completely different bikes in terms of power, capabilities, and comfort. They both serve different purposes. With a tune the Concours is deceptively fast and twice as smooth as the ZX as hard as that is to believe. The shaft drive is wonderful and the storage capacity is slick as well. But the ZX is in another planet when it comes to acceleration, it handles better, lighter and can be toured just as well when equipped properly. Im 35 and decided to sell the Concours after our daughter is bor and kept the ZX for a personal bike. It's awesome. This review is spot on. All the power with out the wild redlines, superchargers and butterfly smooth shifts. Will always be my all time favorite bike. Anyone that hasn't rode one is either to small, to short or riding something else they enjoy. But I guarantee they'll never forget riding one and everything else will feel slow after that.
That's called a track maintainer, making sure there is no broken or warped rail. By the way beautiful bike, always click on your videos so fast. Keep up the great work
Gen 1 would shit all over the gen2 busa as well. The 14R made it so that it wasn’t a race. There were two major differences between the two. The 14 had a Waaaaaaaaay better clutch, so it was much easier to launch. The busa’s clutch was kind of like a light switch. Off or on. The other difference was that the busa was really buzzy at highway speeds. The 14 was like butter. It’s so incredibly smooth. I owned both and would take the 14 every time. My 2007 14 ran consistent 8.78-8.82 at 152-153mph on 1.3 60fts. The busa was really hard to get into the 8s on the same 64” setup.
That's a mk1 ZX14, was revised a few times till 2011 when it was replaced with the mk2 in 2012. Mk1 has a 1352cc motor the mk2 has a 1441cc. Mk2 has standard ABS + traction control, power modes and different bodywork. ( As well as a few other things. ) Great bikes, I run a 2013 mk2. :)
All true, but the ABS. I think it's standard now, but it wasn't earlier. I have a '14, no ABS. Has traction control and all the other goodies. Just not the ABS.
ABS was standard fit from 2008, optional on earlier bikes. Traction control was introduced in 2012 for the 1441cc model. I didn't think it was possible to get a bike with traction control but not ABS.
@Sean: for your info, the ZX14R DID get an overhaul in 2012, different body, better streamlined, more horsepower. The current ZX14R (post 2012) sits around 190BHP +
Wow, 190BHP! If my "blood heart pressure" gets that high, my doctor would have me admitted, to the hospital! He didn't say anything about when I ride my Zx14r to have it though! "Therapy's Expensive! Wind is Cheap!!..lol..!!" (63year old man)

The first bike I ever purchased new from a dealer was a 2006 ZX-12R, had it trucked in from Pennsylvania to Chicago. I had it for approximately 4 months... stolen from my backyard. Turns out it was my upstairs neighbor that did it. I found out after he moved away. The fantasies I've had about what I'd do to him if I ever saw him again, are so brutal I won't share them here. Those of you who have experienced the theft of your bike know what I'm talking about.
My first bike was actually a ZX14. I’d never even sat on a motorcycle but I couldn’t afford to “rise thru the ranks” like everyone recommends. Getting a 300, then liter bike, then 1000 etc was something I didn’t want to do. I bought what I liked to begin with and years later I still love it.
I agree with your approach 100%. Self-control is not expensive for the wise, but 125 - 3\400 - 6\650 - whatever cc, sees many riders having a fairly limited biking history as finances\marriage\deployment+ prevented them from levelling up. I have friends who last rode @less than 600cc over a decade ago & nealy all of them truly believed at the time that they would 'naturally' follow the incremental path. Never happened.
Yeah the first bike I rode was and still am riding is a 2009 zx14 with full exhaust and a tune lol. I don't see what's so complicated about not going full throttle on something like this at first. Of course as one gets more comfortable you can open it up.
Dude if that bike had its weight distribution slightly altered/tweaked, lightened by say 40 lbs, and dimensions just slightly smaller/thinner by a tiny fraction then it would quite possibly be the greatest sports bike of that era. Just a bit closer to the ZX-10r of that era and with that engine it would have dominated all.

There are quicker bikes than either gen 1 or gen 2 hayabusas but none have the iconic status that the Hayabusa has, I had a GSXR 1100m new back in 1991, brilliant bike, then a 929 Fireblade for 12 years, again, brilliant bike, exchanged it for a stock 2015 Hayabusa 2 years ago, does everything, tour, blast, down to shops, Isle of Man etc, will be the last bike I have, cant fault it, two mates have zx14 gen 2 and one is derestricted, they go on about how much faster they are but I smile to myself knowing I have an iconic bike from when it was first made in 1999

I know this is 3yo but why the hell not😂 Ive been riding since I was 3 started out on little yellow Yamaha trizinger 60cc ATC around five got my first motorcycle a Honda z50R I’ve been addicted every since. Thank mom! So went and looked at a 6k mile 06zx14 2 times the second I had money in hand and intended to leave with it. I’ve rode a lot of bikes and owned quite a few but never experienced a near 200hp machine. Took it for a 25-30 minute ride and loved every second of it it was surprisingly well mannered under 5500 rpm everything from then on is mind blowing. There’s really no way to explain it other than HOLY SHIT it just never stops pulling. 4th gear acceleration feels as strong as 2nd there’s no such thing as hitting the proverbial wall it just wants to eat . I know there’s faster bikes now but I can’t begin to imagine a world where a zx14 isn’t enough. I put 45k miles on it in 3 years. I was 50+ and hadn't ridden in 15 years when I got the bike. Bought the second one sold on Long Island. Bought it because it was comfy and I'm 6'3". I couldn't fit on ZX10 or Busa. The Gixxer 1000, BMW RR were nice, but the riding position for me with bad knees/back, needed a different type of ride. I still love and miss that bike.
Why do people think that the ZX14 is a (Hayabusa killer) what makes it the killer of one of the greatest Sport bikes of all times. There both great Bikes, but we shouldn't shit on the other because you went the other way. I am a Hayabusa owner but I would never down another model or type because it's not a Busa. It's a ok review but the title is JANK I love alot of your videos. Please keep posting great content.
@Speed Demon - Of course you have a problem with the title, you own a Busa and the ZX-14R has officially destroyed the Busa in everything except reliability. There's nothing wrong about talking a little trash about your bike's rival, actually competitiveness inspires rivals to build faster bikes and that's something we all benefit from. Maybe if Suzuki sees enough videos of riders bashing the Busa with their ZX-14R, Suzuki will some day create a better faster Busa in the future to regain it's hyper crown. .....besides....the Panigale V4, S1000RR, RSV4 have all pretty much beaten the big bikes on their territory anyways :)

How does it compare to the zx11 from the 90's? I ride a 1996 zx11 and it is a monster to me but other than being awkward feeling at low speeds it seems to have very good power control.
I definitely find myself going north of 100 without really trying to on my Dyna ... So if I had a Hayabusa or this I'd absolutely put myself in legal jeopardy lol But a first gen Hayabusa's ability to hit 200 is something I'd love to do.... Just once
Remember the Gsxr 1100? I rode a 94 for a few years, It was a beast for that time, then the Hayabusa took its place. I kinda miss that bike, it was raw and had non of the new tech. Was a heavy tank too at 509lbs dry, but super stable at high speeds.
That was the case between the ZX12 and 1st gen Busa, the 1400 came after the gentlemen's agreement, so it never officially was pitted against it's nemesis
The Hayabusa actually held up much better to side winds than the ZX14 so that definitely helps. Also the 06 busa would reach 320kmh. Pretty sure after that they governed it to 300kmh. I'd go Busa all day.
Have you ever rode a retro sport bike? I love my 2003 Kawasaki ZRX1200R , super comfortable fun all around bike. Sure it’s slow compared to ZX14 or a Hayabusa but it’s plenty fast enough and with the style of the old Eddie Lawson KZ 1000r.

:')
Sweet😂

I just bought a new ZX14r and I love it. And it will lift the front wheel with no problem. I was doing 135 mph and not even feel it. Beautiful bike.

The undertaking/overtaking on the highway was driving me nuts.
Driving standards in the USA look terrible
Check out the driving standards in India 😂
I had one just like it but with even more finer tweaks. Dyna tuned with even more horsepower. Not 1 Hyabusa could ever take me, especially on twisty coastal roads. It is a very forgiving bike! Loved the bike.

Ride safe! :-)

I've had an 08 and now have a 16... Though I don't ride it much. It's a hell of a bike.

I had 2 years of experience on a DT125R then got to try a 2003 Hayabusa on an airfield, it felt smooth and easy to maneuver at slow speed and felt like a tractor when I accelerated under 7k rpm, 3rd gear, pulls hard, next gear PULLS HARDER, next gear "WTF DOESNT IT STOP?!"
It made me think how insanely overpowered bikes are, the power after a 25hp bike compared to the busa feels like hopping from a WV Transporter 1,9D with 64hp to a 360whp Evo9
TWICE my DT175 was stolen ( NW Indiana )…and recovered ! Once I was on the school bus and a tow truck passed us, with my Yamaha on it !
This is the 5th Kwaka inline four I owned . Original Z1000 ,then GPz 900r . Excellent bike .
Then 2 xZZR1100 . No complaints . Now the ZX 1400 . PHENOMENAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!
SO powerful !! SO smooth !! SO comfortable !! An amazing top class motorcycle !!
Totally unbreakable !! The list goes on and on . Well done Kawasaki .The most versatile ,powerful bike you've ever
made ,and you can sling it into the corners as hard as you like with full confidence .
But treat this beast with respect !!!!This and my Honda Vfr 800 I will never sell .

Do keep the ZX 14. I still have the Kawasaki KZ 900 that I bought new in 1976. I’ve owned others, but I kept the KZ900 and I’m so glad that I did! My oldest son has it now. It’s been the best bike ever, and it’s still fast too. I did own a Concours14, and a ZRX1200R, but I only kept my baby.
Really enjoyed this review. I think your opinion regarding the difference with a 'Busa is spot on, though for me the first gen 'Busa is the bike of choice. Keep up the good work. Bib the Boulder, UK.
Not 154 ft/lb of torque, that’s the horsepower figure. Try 103 lb/ft of torque on the first run and 113 lb/ft of torque on the current run. And they weigh 580+ pounds road ready.
scott morgan got 115 out of mine and 117 at 14:1 but it was to lean.. dailed it back down to 13:2 ..sweet spot ..
I LOVE these bikes but even I was going to correct him lol
In the age of the internet...specs on production bikes are readily available.
I am 53 and own a 2012 zx1400r , it is beyond amazing , fast, smooth’ a truly incredible machine , don’t wait to be my age although , be experienced and wise !
There are quicker bikes than either gen 1 or gen 2 hayabusas but none have the iconic status that the Hayabusa has, I had a GSXR 1100m new back in 1991, brilliant bike, then a 929 Fireblade for 12 years, again, brilliant bike, exchanged it for a stock 2015 Hayabusa 2 years ago, does everything, tour, blast, down to shops, Isle of Man etc, will be the last bike I have, cant fault it, two mates have zx14 gen 2 and one is derestricted, they go on about how much faster they are but I smile to myself knowing I have an iconic bike from when it was first made in 1999
Let's face it, every bike manuf. wants to build the next Busa,... but the old one simply never went away, so there never was a "....Long live the new King"
Hell, even the H2r: It took Kawasaki 20 years to build a Turboed Busa,.... what's so special/groundbreaking about imitating what guys have been doing for 2 decades already
@@Nightdare H2R is stock bike with compact engine supercharged. There is more to just install a supercharger and give qarranty to clients that bike's engine will last few decades.Show me any bike with supercharger with engine lasting a lot without rebuilding engine? That is the whole concept of H2R. Sure, that's why we see so many 14's on the road
OH WAIT, we don't!
For every 1 ZX14 you'll see 10 Hayabusas prior
Even the 2nd gen Busa sold better than that thing
Son 😂 George Foreman grill?!🤣I never heard that before 🤣🤣🤣
Same but I'm going to start saying it 😂
I owned a 2000 1st gen Busa and it was the bike of my life. I am 69 and have owned near 20 motorcycles. I had Kawi Rotary valve 2 stroke Avenger 350 and 500 H1 and 750H2 (which still comes back to me in dreams) and W2 Commander 650 TT and 900 Z1 and Z1000 ST. I love Kawi's. But that Hayabusa was something else and for me much better looking than the awesome Kawi 1400. The Busa was Bonneville Salt Flats on the street with an engine groan at 3000 rpm (Two Brothers titanium cans) that had people chasing me down to ask, "What the hell are you riding?" Including a city cop who pulled me over and with his hands on his head said, " Don't worry. I just had to see WTF kind of motorcycle your riding!" All true stories. The ZX 14 as great as it was never caused that kind of reaction.
156 lb-ft of torque? I think that might be a mistake...
Bikez says 154 lb-ft.... That seems like an insane amount. How much HP does it have?
@fenderfan85 No I completely believe you. 154 seems completely out of line and that seems WAY more believable.
@fenderfan85 2018 is 207hp when intake is naturally pressurized by speed
I've seen 115 and 127 ft lbs torque both from reliable sources.
I should add that the numbers I site are 2018 ZX14R

@@markdunbar8219 I've owned two Blackbirds as a well and thought that I would never find a worthy replacement. How wrong was I. Get one, you wont be disappointed.
I really like Kawasakis I have a 1980 KZ750 LTD that I made into a ridged bobber. I am a double amputee so I made the bike low but not stretched. Kawasaki makes bad ass motors that last through anything and have power. I have always been a fan of Ninja Motorcycle, Thanks for posting this amazing bike.
I have a 2014 zx14 and it has some add Ins and is a rocket.
Owned a 2006 , gen 1. Loved it , but not that fast, my ZX12 had much more power. Would like to get the new ZZR , 2019 model. Beautiful bike .
I had exactly the same 2008,got it new,had it for 4 years, loved it,no issues,no problems, but when she hits 6000rpm,omg its mental... problem was cops are seeing you everywhere you go..this days i am cruising on klr ,love it..
I considered it before my hayabusa nothing wrong with this bike i just wasn't feeling it
they are both amazing bikes and you cant go wrong
Wise choice
@night Rider, I completely agree with you. I saw the bike as well and I wasn't feeling it. I have a second gen Hayabusa and I love my bike! I'm not concerned with how fast it goes, but my Busa rides like a dream. I'll take that any day.
yep
I love my zx14r, bought it brand new back in 2020, it is a 2018 model but it still had zero miles. I was 27 when i bought it, 3 years later still in love with it
This was the first bike I drove and I was 18 years old !!! FIRST BIKE EVER
First season on my 2009 zx14 SE. Astounding bike in all regards. Lots done to it already. +2 rear sprocket with new chain. PCV with autotune and yosh pipes. And a must - speedohealer. With a 55 one the back instead of 50. pair valves done as well as butterflies removed. No useless cats also. You don't have to ever worry about stalling. Very easy slow riding. Super smooth. No matter what the speed and gear you are in... you have torque to get up and go. You don't have to get it "up into the rev s" to get the power. This bike gets attention everywhere. People come to you to see and talk about it. Don't want attention.. don't get this bike.

A good point he made on the test ride, remember to shift. Another thing, 1st gear gets you close to 100 mph, 2nd is more like 130.
I have a 2nd Gen busa, I love the way evert hinges is layed out. For me it's a dream to ride and handle. I'm keeping my busa and I still want a fatboy.
Now the problem I'm having is trying to find a honest shop to inspect my Busa. I might make it a strip only bike and ride a fatboy since I have 3 rivers harley Davidson close to me.

I've owned the zx14 for around four years now. I've owned an R6 a gsxr 600, and currently, in my stable is a yz250x husqvarna 501. Obviously, it's not a comparison, but my lord, this bike is nothing but smiles 😀
I love the Bible quotes. Very well made video and an awesome channel, good reviews.
Why do you need bible quote on a motorcycle channel?
"And lo - the roar of Moses triumph was heard throughout Israel"

Ok, so my Z900 with a PC5, custom tune, and full exhaust, and shed some weight (443lbs wet) hit the dyno at 132hp and 78tq at the wheels. My tuner said he'd guess maybe 150ish hp and 90ish tq at the crank. This ZX14 has 154TQ...That's insane, I've never ridden one but I can't even imagine.
If you ever get the opportunity to ride one take it you’ll either be in love or it’ll be a big hell naw it’s to crazy there’s no in between.

Those Busas are bad ass looking imo
this is way better looking than the Busa, but Kawasakis new bikes are awful looking
Your not wrong about the digital speedo. My Ninja 1000 goes up by threes at above 60% (ISH) throttle. An analog would be very nice.
@Anthony Smith I guess it's all personal preference then. I love my Magnas analog gauges, kinda meh about my Ninjas.
Back in 1973-74, the old Z1's would get wild at about 4500 rpm. We called it the "warp drive" back then
These make more hp at 5000rpm than those did at peak lol

Had 06 ZX14. Loved that bike. Comfy. The only problem was, every biker wanted to challenge. Sold it when I moved to Poland. Roads aren't made for this type of bike as living on Long Island.

@@reachblowsdick7222 I own a Busa and a 2012 Zx14r and there's not much of a differents there honestly. I'm not taking any side I drag race them both. How does it compare to the zx11 from the 90's?
I ride a 1996 zx11 and it is a monster to me but other than being awkward feeling at low speeds it seems to have very good power control.
I definitely find myself going north of 100 without really trying to on my Dyna ...

Thanks for finally doing a review of the ZX-14 I love my 2017 Busa killer
B#### PLEASE
I thought I read that the Kawasaki had more power but the hyabussa had better aerodynamics so the hyabussa had a higher top speed.
I wish Kawasaki would export the newer models to the U.S.
I think i take ... The Hayabusa. ☺ ❤️
