2018 Kawasaki H2 SX Full Test

  • Kawasaki blew us all away with the H2, the supercharged monster that was a triumph of modern engineering and packaging. Now they've added a whole new dose of practicality to the concept and brought out the H2SX, the touring model. Has bringing in some sanity to the recipe diluted the experience or enhanced it? Donovan tries to find out.

    Yeaaaaaa I love this review man dang!!! I sat on Sx about 2 months ago and I test rode a 2017 Suzuki hyabusa. Now I saw Brock's performance put his hands on one on UA-cam and pumped that sx up to 245hp. If you go on UA-cam you can find a video but at the same time I love this azuki Hayabusa I also sat on a ZX-14r and I love the riding positioning but that hyabusa is kind to me I have to get one thank you guys for this I depth review of the bike IAM about to purchase and I wanted to see what you guys thought.

    Great review. I'll hang on to my ZZR for a while longer. I test rode the H2 SX, its a beautiful Bike, comfy, lovely gearbox, easy to filter in traffic and incredibly good on fuel if you taker it easy (70mpg @ 55mph) but also fast when you want it to be. Agree also, I want one & also agree many one extras on the SX SE I don't really want. Quickshifters don't short shift very well and the gearbox is buttery smooth anyway.

    • @mathias6423
      @mathias6423 Рік тому

      Yeah agree, now 5 years later and the 2018 black H2 SX is becoming very cheap to buy used. It does not have quickshifter but It has cruisecontrol which I value higher than quickshifter since I ride for long trips. Do you still ride your ZZR or did you switch for a H2 SX ?

    I am fortunate to have both bikes. I have a 2016 ZX14R and love it. Had to get the H2SX also. I have had it for about a month. Love both bikes. The H2SX is a blast to ride. The sounds it makes is worth the price of admission. Could never give up my 14 though. I hope they decided to supercharge the 14. Remember when it comes to horsepower, too much is barely enough.

      Chris ZX14R Same here bro. Have a ZX14 and a H2 SX SE. Don't think they will ever supercharge the ZX14 because it would require an intercooler which the H2s don't need. The ZX14 would overheat and the intercooler takes up to much space. The ramair is eough for the H2, but not enough for the ZX14. That's why Kawasaki supercharged a 1000 and not a 1400. If they would have, they would've dominated the market, but overheating issues would have cost them millions in warranty work and eventually sales because of the issues.

      Dadul Ludad yeah i dont think it could have the power of the h2, but just was curious if they are restricting it in somewhat of a similar fashion even if u cant get as much. I think the waste gate open early or something also. If money was no object, i would actually prefer the sx if it is more comfortable (i ride a lot). If i would ever get one it will have to be a second hand one though in a few years

      @MrBarlien 6 років тому

      Read somewhere that you could get 225 to the backwheel just by flashing it. It's set up for mileage from the factory apparently. It might be total bollocks though... google?
      The supercharger is the same one, but the angle of the blades are different, so it's never going to be as beastly as the original H2.

    • @howardwhitaker1556

      The H2 has 30 lbs of boost, the H2 SX and SX SE run 20 lbs of boost at a way higher compression ratio, with smaller throttle bodies. Means you won't get near the same HP flash results as you would with the H2.

    The tips do not break the speed of sound if it did it would implode
    unless it had a convergent inlet duct. If it was breaking the speed of

      JCM 27 When they say H2 they’re referring to the top tier ninja which is a hypersport that retails around 55 thousand $. The H2 SX is the start of the sport touring series which is basically the H2 hypersport dumbed down a little bit and set up more for touring. It also retails much lower at 19 thousand $. The H2 SX SE is just the special edition version of the SX bringing you more electronics. This year they just released the H2 SX SE+ that adds a new color scheme as well as an app that can track your rides and it will also show you a good amount of stats as well. Hope this helps!

    um....am I the only one who knows that weight = power? 1 rider weighs 150 pounds the other over 220... no crap the 1400 won the weight difference was huge, hell some race's are decided by a difference on 1 kilo let alone 30 +

      Weight makes a difference but the more power the less difference. By the time you're at these power levels it's only going to make any real difference at very high speeds.

      emudshit lmfao the h2SX is slower than the zx14 stock to stock... its well known well before this review got their hands on it.
      The zx14 is dramatically slower when its tune vs tune and only gets worse as more mods are added. Take this video with a grain of salt

      And then suzuki makes a factory turbo busa. Will things stop at 400 kmph this time?

    • @siraff4461
      @siraff4461 6 років тому +4

      Things shoudn't stop at all. When speed gets limited everyone aims at that limit. Then as soon as it's lifted they aim at the next goal.
      Take all that nonsense away and no one really cares about top speeds because they all do enough.
      Then development would start going towards putting the power down, having a larger spread and so on.
      Chasing nuumbers is what stops a lot of sportbikes being fun. Now a lot of them are just rev boxes to create headline numbers no one ever uses.

    So call me stupid or a troll but hear me out. I started on an H2 sx (yes I know) and I treated it with lots of respect and caution. I’ve been riding it for almost 2 years now and I feel “outgrown” to it, the power no longer blows my mind and the spark I once felt when hopping on the saddle is no longer there.. does anyone have any advice on this issue?

  • @yungothee270
    @yungothee270 4 роки тому

    kk tbh the drag race was a lil unfair... riders weight wasn't equivalent and that has a big effect... the zx is clearly modded in some way as there is an exsaust.. could be sprocket changes and ECU flash as well which would probably put it ahead of the sx... so im not gonna say its not as fast as a zx because this test mucked up the comparison... if all factors going in were equal id say for sure.. either way both great bikes. also the supercharger in this application is to give you a massive spread of torque from 0-redline without drop off which is what makes this so cool as a bike.

    Not to ruined your party but I have a zzr-1400 and it’s great but the race you did was kinda trick because you should try it with exchanging the driver because this only could make a huge difference not wanted to be bitching but the guy on the sx looks a little bit heavier than the one on the zzr and I remember in the times I had a Yamaha r1 and my friend as a gsxr-1000 and every times we try things like this or roll on on the highway he would win but with a little Less difference than your race and when à was trying his bike I keep saying that the power was looking about the same and finally we try racing on the others bike what would you know every time he would beat me with my R1 so the only thing who was loosing was the one I was sitting on and believed me it’s not because I don’t know how to drive the reason was only the weights and between him and me there was about 30 pounds so if you would have change rider I guess that the sx wouldn’t have won anyway but the difference would have been much less that what we saw, also I heard that the sx with a simple reflash would gained a heaffty 50 HP so for around 500 $ you are on a completely different machine so my zzr has a full yosh,reflash,and bazzaz with tuned that gives him a good 209 hp with 126 pounds of torques and even if I’m really happy with it I wouldn’t say no to a sx if my financial situation would be ok with it 😂😂👍👍👍👍👍

    Don't be fooled. Double the length of that run and the H2 SX would have reeled the 14 in and walked past it. The 14 has more TQ which helps it out from the start. It'll definitely jump on the H2 SX. But once rolling and given enough space the supercharged liter bike will make mincemeat of the ZZR. That race definitely was not long enough.
