every youtuber always says that its so hard to edit their vids and it takes a long time... BOI LOOK AT DIS GUY EDIT A FKN MOVIE IN 10+ MINS. beautiful.
It's so funny how the first 2 people I started following for video editing and B roll, both live in Canada and are friends. How awesome is that! Two unique style to learn from and very helpful. Thank you🙏👍😎
just one minute into the video and i wanted to pause just to say thank you for adding the raw unedited kinda shots it's so helpful and no one ever does this but it gives us an idea of how it is actually shot, thanks man, keep it up !
You are really a genius, and really a humble man who is not only shairing a knowledge but also a entertainment for those, who love these tricks like me, and learning from u who want to be a good photographer and want do some filming, i was just thinking about the many points of editing which you have clearly mentioned in this video, its another thing that i watched your video 2 times on speed 0.7 .. 👍😉.
Man, u are one of the best video editor and creative film maker I’ve ever seen here on UA-cam. I am getting inspired to film my content with some ideias for car films. Love it! Greeting from Brazil
Lol nice, what's funny is that 1. I use squarespace for my website 2. I own and use the ryan nangle overlay transitionts 3. have and use motion blur 4. pretty much knew exactly how you edited these before hand. Good work. Pretty smooth and nice.I hate how the motion blur renders hardcore and slows it all down. I always add color corrections and motion blur stuff at the end because of that.
This really opened my eyes on more than transitions. The way you shoot is very instructive, too. More than just left to right, right to left, but diagonal, etc. If you don't have a tutorial on that, can you do one on shooting angles?
Bruh, appreciate ya man. Just getting back into the editing game but felt I needed to modernize my game. Good looks for giving an OG like myself some new tricks to work with. And they say old dogs can't learn new tricks, pffft.... thanks again Daniel!
Bro I never gave thanks but thank you so much for what you are doing I got so much much with editing I appreciate you so much bro it means a lot, you are so underrated and deserve a lot more
This is awesome. Not sure exactly who I'm going to apply it to premiere, but the general knowledge is super helpful as to how each of these added layers adds that extra something to the videos. Thanks!!
Speed ramping is fairly easy in Premiere.tonnes of tutorials out there! For motion blur, there is an effect called CC Force Blur or a plugin called RSMB (Real Smart Motion Blur)...the transition can be replicated using Bakerstuts easy transition preset! Hope that helps 😁
My question for anyone able to answer is. If he is filming at 120fps and assuming his shutter is at 240/250. How did he get rid of the light flicker ? I'm using the gh5 and struggle( losing my patience) I can't see a video online explaining how to get around this ! Thanks ✌️
Nice tricks. However adding crop bars is the wrong way to achieve that aspect ratio. Your sequence dimensions should be set to the ratio you're going for. For example for a 2.39 : 1 ratio your sequence settings would be 1920 x 803. For a 2 : 1 aspect ratio your sequence settings would be 1920 x 960. If you just add crop bars then your aspect ratio is still only 16 : 9 so when your video is viewed in UA-cam cinema mode for example you are still seeing the black bars. If your sequence was correctly set to the 2.39 : 1 ratio then the entire area would be filled when viewing in UA-cam cinema mode. I've recently just learnt this so just passing on some constructive info.
@@danielschiffer Yeah that's fair enough. Might have been worth mentioning that in your tutorial as I would imagine some people may overlook the reason you gave me and assume adding crop bars is the correct way.
There is a video going around that (wrongly) tells you never to use black crop bars, but instead to always edit in the native finishing aspect ratio. There are sometimes reasons to do it that way, but by far the most common practice in the professional side of the industry is to edit in a standard 16:9 container. There are reasons I can go into if you like, otherwise just trust me lol. In the export process you can set the frame size to whatever you like eg: 1920x804 (always use even numbers btw - some codecs don't support odd numbers, and also it will resample your image in order to keep it precisely centred so you'll lose sharpness). Good video btw man. One of my fave simple transitions. :)
Other than Final Cut Pro, which other software do you recommend? I personally run my channel on a budget and I use iMovie (for now). It has worked well so far. I learned about in-camera transitions this week and hoping to use simple techniques to make my Travel videos stand out. Awesome tutorial. Thank you, Daniel, for this tutorial! Thumbs up from a Kenyan UA-camr.
Commenting this feels a little spammy/weird, so I am sorry about that, but I also think you will find it helpful if you watch my video on B-Roll. It's very practical.
One of the biggest things that I've found is establishing a shared goal or really dictating an outcome...if people at motivated to accomplish the same thing as you then there really isn't a need to keep authority! It comes naturally! When it comes to directing people though I think just making them as comfortable as possible and knowing how you want the shot to play out :) Hope that helps!
I learnt. Just be nice to them and they listen. If they need a little break after half an hour or so give them a little break. Chat with them. Just being nice, listening and stating your point of view.
Hey Daniel, very nice video. Amazing how much work you put in a shot which looks on the first look like a simple speed ramp. That is what I like in your videos. A video about how you color grade especially these low light Toronto clips would be very nice! Greetings from Germany.
That sequence was beautiful and am so happy you shared how you did. Learned a ton and will be checking out those LUTs and transitions to tweak my future videos.
The background played a big role, having the background of the 2nd scene be in about a third of the previous scene combined with the zoom effect made the transition smoother.
Your content is gold! Im moving from photography to video and your tutorials are on point, cant wait to do some freelance stuff with what im learning! Also, you should make an online class for some extra profit bro, you have the knowledge and skills and we would love to support you :)

About the letterbox: Never add it like that. Always work with 2.35:1 footage to begin with, or anyone on said monitor will see double letterboxes.
hey but what to do when my camera does not have 2.35:1. ??????
@@EddiePelletier good idea!!!
You tube doesn't let you put end cards on footage that isn't 16:9 if that matters to you
That's exactly what happens with film trailers
