    I did the rear beam bushes on an escort years back, one had perished so middle fell out, least favourite screwdriver brayed down the side of the bush cashing to buckle it in over and it popped right out, used a drill and a bit of sideways misuse to get the other centre out, dead easy.

    Good job Steve. Well done on spotting the damage and sorting it, pretty sure some so called “pros” would have whacked it back together without a second thought.

    Brilliant the only video, out of loads I've watched that gives torque wrench settings I couldn't even find them using a general google search worth watching for that alone. Btw this is only video I've seen where passenger side cradle is removed.

    I drilled the insides out and then hammer and screwdrivers to gradually break the casing (metal). If you hammer at and angle takes a few hard hits and came out. Went for purple series but debating changing to black series possibly after I’ve tested it on track

    For those saying MOT 6 month extension, that only counts if the original MOT expiry was after 31st March 2020 so if it expired before then, you don't get the extension.

    Hi Steve, I’ve just done a ST180 Rear Disc Conversion on the Missus MK7 ZS and have the old Beam here that has those 2 Brackets on. If you need them consider them yours 👍

    Fair play doing those without a bush press kit - I bought one and though it won't get used often I've had bad experience with bushes! Did that job on my fiesta it was a PITA even with the kit... BTW I've had powerflex on my E30 for years, never had any trouble 👍

    I changed some of these a few days ago. I used a pointed chisel down the side of the plastic. The come out easy. Good work Steve. After that impact on the rear axle i would replace it all.

      Agree fella, scratched my head wondering how to get the old bushes out, a word with a fitter friend, who told me just knock them out, like you did, easy. Have to say I took the whole beam off the car which makes it easier.

    Mots have been extended for 6 months . Check with the Dvla but a garage that does our mechanical work said this to us . So if your mot runs out any time from lockdown you automatically get 6 months grace.

    That was a good spot Steve, and taking your time to get the alignment correct will be well worth it when you drive, just not 50mph in a car park lol, although we've all done it.

    nice bush tool would keep that handy as it worked superb . to be honest you would never have found that damage without removing the brackets and although time consuming i think its worth the effort you have made by changing the bushes and aligning everything back up to position where you are happy with it hope the garage opens as bet your dying for a blast in it lol

    If u want a quick way to get them rear bushes out if u get a old flat blade screwdriver and hit it in the inner part of the Bush untill u see the head pop through the other side then hit the metal insert and the Bush will pop right out save a lot of time.

    If you drive sensible and act natural you can go round without an mot for a good while, my mother has done for about 9 months when she ‘kept forgetting to book it in’ and I ‘kept forgetting to order a new exhaust and fit it’ when the exhaust was blowing really bad but even with the racket she got away with it!

    Hi Steve, @Spark Plug Steve , thanks for your videos, they are really helpful. I've been driving my ST for 5 years now. No track days, just daily driving (spirited once in a while) with 68000km on the clock. Would you recommend changing the engine mounts?.. I can feel a little bit of vibration in the cabin but nothing unbearable. Also, i dont hear any weird noises (yet). Thanks in advance, CeeBee from Hong Kong.

    Did you notice much difference in the way the rear end feels when driving after putting in the power flex bushes?

  • @IanLanc
    @IanLanc 3 роки тому

    Got to ask but did you tighten the big long bush bolts up fully whilst the axle was lowered/hanging down ? I ask because if you did, you did it wrong, the big bolts need to be lose-ish and not tight.... Main brackets & bolts fixed in back up on the chassis bolts all dead tight, then the wheels back on - car lowered to the ground - drive the car a few hundred metres - braking - stopping - moving off - braking, now is the time to tighten the main two bolts, this settles the bush to the correct position.
    If you tightened the bush up fully with the axle dropped you cause a problem and that is when the car is sat on its wheels, the bushes are now being twisted in an unnatural way, if you did tighten the two bolts whilst the axle was lowered, can i suggest you untighten the two bolts and do the above to settle the bushes, then re-tighten the big long bolts.

    • @Sparkplugsteve
      @Sparkplugsteve  3 роки тому +1

      You realise that only applies to genuine Ford bushes? The insert is not fixed to the Bush on these so rotates freely.

    Haven't all MOTs that would have expired during the lockdown been extended by 6 months?

    • @cmartin_ok
      @cmartin_ok 4 роки тому

      Check.... the MoT expired in February before we got into lockdown, so it's got to be MoT'd before it can be used on the roads again. Garages should be open although most have chosen to close. Don't know what happens if you are a key worker and need genuine spares such as alloy wheels or internal engine parts. Also, the window cleaners in our area are still working, our house was done in the past week on schedule

    Ho steve I'm sorry to bother u I have a problem basically I've had new cluch fitted car drives fine apart from that cluch goes spongy every now and then I've bleeded it 6 times it's not that flyweel was fine checked it the play was fine aswell as teeth also when I put cluch down a little I can hear bearing noise like a faint squeal also when accelerating and foot rested on cluch cluch moves up about 3mm but itself and same when taking foot off acceleration cluch moves dwn about 3 mm and when I push hard when stationary about 3 times I can hear a chatter I need help thanks steve

    • @Sparkplugsteve
      @Sparkplugsteve  4 роки тому

      I can't be of 100% help really but if the pedal goes spongy that has to be air in the system or a leak. If there's no leaks stick a hose in the nipple and drop into a bucket. Top the fluid up to the top and open the clutch nipple. Walk away from it for a few an hoir/few hours or more and let gravity bleed it. Worth a try.
