Please, AutoWeek, make more subtitles for those who don't speak Dutch - some of us barely understand few words, common with other languages, but not enough to complete the picture. Your reviews are great, and there would be many appreciating car-fans for the effort. Thanks for this, anyway!
@KingVino You`re right, I`m not talking when you`re out for fun driving in a open parking area. I love doing this with my old RS6, I just turn off the ESP, But the problem is that if BMW M3 or M5 got stuck in snow...you can`t get out. With audi you can. Its a big difference.
Hmm, I was wondering, did you test the Audi with the torque-vectoring rear differential? Because I know the S5 has that as an option, it helps encourage oversteer in the corners. I'd assume it would help the RS5 as well, as they're quite similar.
@Porschefanatic100 Yes, nobody can deny that - but don't forget that these two are two door coupes and the C63 is a saloon. It has torque enough to make a change in Moon's orbit (600nm to be correct, 200nm/50% more than the BMW M3) and engine big enough (6.2L vs 4.0L) to create the need of owning a petrol station.
@Porschefanatic100: I had both cars for 60 days before buying. Got rip of the M3 for the RS5. M3 and the RS5 target different type of clients. Growing up in Europe Audi has the image of being more of a refine, diplomatic, confident/modest car for individuals that still want to pack some power under the hood of their cars (on their way to a red carpet event.) M3 is more aggressive, BWM die-hard fans, and honestly often driven by gear-heads, alpha-males with something to compensate.
People complain about everything...at the end of the day its a fabulous transmission, probably one of the best right now, and probably burns the clutches a lot less than the M3's. The PDK in the porsche turbo s is fabulous, and very similar to the S-Tronic...and guaranteed if he was driving that car instead he would say its fantastic. Ive ridden in the porsche and driven it, and its fantastic...same with the S4
The 135i is what the M3 used to be. Affordable and less technical. I had a 3 series and now an A4. Both are great cars, but the quattro really is impressive.
@Congaman41 I agree. When you look at the front of the RS5, you just think of the word "aggression". It looks like it's going to eat you. And i just love the new Audi grills. They look so massive!!!! I once saw a drag race between a M3 vs RS5. RS5 won. And Quattro is great! If you come to a curve somewhere with a M3 and step on the gas it can drift easy. and what if you can't control the car? With the RS5 you can put the pedal to the metal without any problems. Audi is a safer car!
honestly, ive always been a lover of both car manufacturers. but too me Audi, i have always like just a bit more, besides look around on the road most of the cars around you can't match either of these cars wether it be looks, power, and luxury. i would be the happiest guy on earth to own either of these cars.
@ultimatebadazzz The B8 Chassis on the Current A5/A4 is exclusive to Audi, not VW. Its a 'VW group' MLB platform. The VW passats of old share the old A4 chassis, but not anymore. Also, Audi designed the Chassis for all A4's since circa 2000. VW use the 'hand me down' chassis for the passat once Audi have finished with it. RS5 has a Lamborghini Spirited Engine and an interior that has a quality resembling Bentley. Thats another way of looking at it.
I'd say the Audi is more an everyday driving and cruising machine. It looks better, the interior has that extra touch of luxury, more comfortable and the AWD makes it way more easier to drive. The M3 is the best of the two on the track. But come on, who, of all us normal people, live on a race track, or somewhere with a lot of tight corners and no speed limits. I'd pick the Audi.
@wazz1337 I agree with you on the reason why one would choose the RS5 over the M3, but I have to disagree with your idea of the M3 being superior. Since the RS5 is a luxury car, it obviously ways more, but that's compensated with more power in areas that the M3 cannot beat. The RS5 is also all wheel drive. Due to that, the RS5 has a much better suspension and handling than the M3. The cars are close, but in a race, I believe the RS5 has a slight upper hand.
part of me thinks that the m3 is such an iconic car that in this class it is labeled as perfect... and then the rs5 has a slightly different take on it, that it is automatically labeled inferior just because it is different. i've never driven any m3, but i have driven both an s4 and 335i, and i actually preferred the s4 as i felt much more confident i wasn't going to wrap it around a tree in icy conditions. i also felt the interior of the s4 was a notch above bmw.
@SantaHatesGays Not really, the RS4 came out years ago and was designed to be an M3 competitor and it's a lot more relevant than this car. The RS5 is like a 2 tonne luxury cruiser that tries to be a sports coupe but doesn't do a very good job at it.
@sodazman keep in mind this is a brand new car for audi. the m3 has been around for years. and most bmw's are more "fun" to drive because of the rear wheel drive. audi combines sport with safety, moresoe than bmw
Mooie vergelijking. :p
The only things that i liked about the audis was the winter traction, since i live in canada, and the nice laid out interior. But with other things going wrong all the time i never fell in love with it. In my opinion if you want to get a reliable winter car go with subaru. You will have far less problems and it's going to cost half the price....
I really like Audi, i ve always had, but i just cant say BMW is bad, but simply i would choose RS 5 because of view, sound, interier, and power.., which i hope am going to buy in August :) in December, i am going for A5 :) i cant wait..
@Zoifer efficiency of a motor has many factors...fuel consuption, hp, torque, strength, temperature and so many others..at the most of them audi is more efficient. Bmw cares only to put as much hp as they can.
I seriously prefer the Looks of the M3, such a beautiful car, but audi is also very good looking. Still The M3 is in my heart, high reving engine, near perfect handling, Bmw at its best !
For performance I would take the BMW but as far as aesthetics go I would definitely take the Audi. I like the styling of the Audi better and to me the interior of the Audi is much nicer. For an everyday car Audi wins in my book.
@wazz1337 Dude I totally agree with you. I have a BMW and sometimes, for hours-long roads I would love to have a more comfortable car such as an Audi. I love my bimmer when i take the curves and the thrill it gives me is unique. Audi vs BMW is such a personal choice/taste. Both are great brands. Just different for different kind of people who share the enthusiasm for performing cars.
Zonde...
What I got from the video is that... you have to be a better driver to drive the ULTIMATE DRIVING MACHINE - You want a car that takes you from point A to point B quickly --> Audi. You want a car thats going to make you sweat and teach how what it really means to drive --> BMW.
@HeavyStunk1942 yes, if you got the skills to make the best of it. audi can make a jerk feel like a fast one on the road. to say nothing of the slippery road surface where rs5 will sure rule
Both Germans Auto are amazing, BMW m3 is a the ultimate master in it's class so far unbeatable. I love Audi and would probably choose RS5 over m3... But fair is fair performance wise m3 takes the cakes.
Simply: for normal life you have to choose RS5, even though M3 is more "sporty". Both cars are too slow for track (take 911 or similar there) and in normal life - how many times you take a car to the edge? Do you ever? Audi has more comfort, Quattro, awesome interior, lower consumption - these are arguments for normal life, especially with 3-5 months of winter where you fight every km with M3. I even think Audi did not plan to build M3 competitor, their style is way different.
@Toddmars the cts-v beat the m5 in a comparison test. including speed. that video they did was just to show the new big three competitors in luxury car making. unless if ur talking about another video, id like to see it
Ok so if the S-tronic shifts aggressively people are like "oh it's too rough, not very refined, could be much better" and if it's smooth people say "Oh it's not as rough as it should be" wtf?
Audi RS4 did and now RS5 - 2010 Best Sports Car Production Coupes. M3 which is the best of BMW continuously targets performance how ever it always looses to the competition :)
I get to drive the new BMW M3 E90 next year when i get my drivers licence. Its a shit long wait, but to drive a car like that, its worth it. Its not my car, but the public dosen't need to know that ;). Red paint job, convertible with a white leather interior, and whi can forget the (M) button.
@HeavyStunk1942 yes, if you got the skills to make the best of it. audi can make a jerk feel like a fast one on the road. to say nothing of the slippery road surface where rs5 will sure rule m3 is no match even for my s5 when the road is wet...
@lngbrd94 100% agree, but I noticed you swapped BMW and Audi ... Audi known for Quattro, BMW for speed and handling. But yeah Audi did waste there monies trying to make a M3 clone with the RS5, they failed, and they failed big time. It's coming to US when M3 is in it's last year, and it's slower ... look and interior is a personal taste, so I won't comment on that (I like the look/feel of both cars, not tested RS5, but RS6).
Hmmm... While I like the BMW M3 it is getting a bit old looking. The RS5 is all new, and looks loads better than the BMW. Also the Quattro system is incredible with high speed cars like this. In fact all high speed cars should have a 4wd system just for control/handling (maybe that is why the BMW is limited to only 250kmh). I cannot wait to see what the new M3 will offer, but I think the curtain is closing on this model.
I may be in a minority but I love the M3 styling, interior and exterior. To me the exterior styling is about equal, and strangely enough I like the Bimmers interior better than the Audi's. But I'd be happy with either :D

So....After watching this its Clear. The Audi is better built, smoother, and more refined yet performs as well if not better than the more aggressive and spirited BMW. Not to mention the Audi is a better looking car with an interior that beats the Beemer hands down. Audi all the way.
if you want a circuit car, go buy a BMW if you want a superfast daily, Buy an Audi. shame they try to compare apples to pears. i would choose the audi because of its safe feeling character and comfort. its also more practical for driving in heavy weather(ie snow and ice)
@wazz1337 all that matter to me is that the RS5 is faster and quicker around sharp turns, less body roll. everyday driving is nowhere equivalent to racetrack, where the M3 would be superior
I wanted the RS5 to kill the E92 M3 even if it had to be 30-40k more. Can't expect to ever beat BMW in handling, so Audi should have put the RS6 V10 in there.
@miqojoe good comment ,but you say bmws engine ,dont forget audi make some of the "best" engines going :) also i think the bmw's ride could be better ,(to hard ,feel every bump) but audi has it just right they'd have to fight those minor hitches out for them selfs if they ever did as you said
@MrDadada2424 and yet audi posts best interior and styling... I would pick the rs5 over a c63 or an m3 cuz it matches performance and looks much better, but thats just me... all great cars though
@Toddmars i love the new cts-v, it is hands down the best deal for a car on the planet. trudt me, if you go to the ctsv vs m5 videos, you will see me FLIPPING OUT on the bmw guys
seems to me the with the m3 you can drive yourself into trouble by slidding but the RS will drive itself out of trouble. And its a better looking vehicle anyway.
What's wrong with reviewers? Who in the real old drifts? Practically under 1% of people do. Quattro is safer, faster around the tracks and more confidence inspiring. Plus you can us it year round. A 450 bhp monster isn't that esy to control in the wet unless it has Quattro.
Audi never be beter than the BMW. BMW it's a passion, - Audi it's only technology.
That would be 4 in a row in comparison tests !!! Autoweek, Motor Trend, Car and Driver, and Sport und Auto !!!!! All hail the king !!!!!
Please, AutoWeek, make more subtitles for those who don't speak Dutch - some of us barely understand few words, common with other languages, but not enough to complete the picture. Your reviews are great, and there would be many appreciating car-fans for the effort.

"We told our story driving:this Audi is amazing,BUT THAT SPIRIT OF THE M3 IS UNBEATABLE"
This is end of your dream, bye Audi.
333Lithium333 Unless it snows
@HAACKER45 optie means option: the 280 limit is an payed option. This testcar had it. Normally it is 250 kph.
@Porschefanatic100: I had both cars for 60 days before buying. Got rip of the M3 for the RS5. M3 and the RS5 target different type of clients. Audi and bmw should team up, audi looks and interior, with bmws engine and tuning and we have our selves an orgasmic volcano on wheels

Love the "messerschmidt-like sound" comparison. JA WHOL HERR GENERAL!
I would take the RS5 to a high class meeting and then admire it's looks all day. With the BMW I'd just wanna race. Reminds of the R8 vs F430 debate
Have you tested the B7 RS4? I ask because all the other reviews seem to say the new M3 has terrible steering feel, even compared to the RS4.
@tehwhovian Yep we did.
AutoWeek i

I would love to own an Audi, great car. But I already bough a BMW and I'm really satisfied with the best. :o)

both car are amazing machines, it all boils down to choice and preference.
@collins799 These are Dutch prices. Our tax-system = not so good for nice cars.
I really like Audi, i ve always had, but i just cant say BMW is bad, but simply i would choose RS 5 because of view, sound, interier, and power.., which i hope am going to buy in August :) in December, i am going for A5 :) i cant wait..

Bmw cares only to put as much hp as they can.
@bondte
I agree with your statement 100%.
I think I love M3 more than RS5 because the RWD. That is likely to be a sports car configuring.
I seriously prefer the Looks of the M3, such a beautiful car, but audi is also very good looking.
Still The M3 is in my heart, high reving engine, near perfect handling, Bmw at its best !
@mrhondacivicsi That's the basic, Audi can put another exhaust on and you got the sound all the time.
In 2010 all videos from a company or an organization MUST be in HD, Seriously guys good videos but you NEED an HD camera
For performance I would take the BMW but as far as aesthetics go I would definitely take the Audi. I like the styling of the Audi better and to me the interior of the Audi is much nicer. For an everyday car Audi wins in my book.

@wazz1337 The Audi's are more practical as well, just because of the AWD.
Daar beslis je toch op, toch niet op pk's of scheurgedrag. yes, if you got the skills to make the best of it. audi can make a jerk feel like a fast one on the road. to say nothing of the slippery road surface where rs5 will sure rule
every manufacturer in the world wants a piece of the m3 and as soon as they get to it the new m3 comes out and this is been going for years now
@autoweek Thank you kindly gentlemen! Much appreciated!
Exactly !
People going for audi care about AWD ... the M series are road beast. It just doesn't feel the same !

I even think Audi did not plan to build M3 competitor, their style is way different.
Beemer ! It has great history in motoring, trace it back to E30 M3. They always have the correct recipe.
@Toddmars the cts-v beat the m5 in a comparison test. including speed. that video they did was just to show the new big three competitors in luxury car making. unless if ur talking about another video, id like to see it

@ammihai Yeah, lots of people said that the S5 is globally better than the RS5
@romantashev with my dunlop m3 winter sport tires the M3 is awesome. any questions?
Audi RS4 did and now RS5 - 2010 Best Sports Car Production Coupes. M3 which is the best of BMW continuously targets performance how ever it always looses to the competition :)
Can someone tell me what "optie" means? It is next to the theaudis top speed. Is it estimated, limited or something else?
I get to drive the new BMW M3 E90 next year when i get my drivers licence. Its a shit long wait, but to drive a car like that, its worth it. Its not my car, but the public dosen't need to know that ;). Red paint job, convertible with a white leather interior, and whi can forget the (M) button.
@HeavyStunk1942
yes, if you got the skills to make the best of it. audi can make a jerk feel like a fast one on the road. to say nothing of the slippery road surface where rs5 will sure rule
m3 is no match even for my s5 when the road is wet...
Thanks for subtittles.
@autoweek the button says "subtitles not available"
So turn the sound off and read the subtitles.
Hmmm... While I like the BMW M3 it is getting a bit old looking. The RS5 is all new, and looks loads better than the BMW. Also the Quattro system is incredible with high speed cars like this. I cannot wait to see what the new M3 will offer, but I think the curtain is closing on this model.
i just cant decide on them both, both are very powerful n beutiful supercars. i think i just buy both
i'd still opt for the audi if i had the money, its just the ridiculous quattro system that lets you get away with murder, i love it
Mooie review weer!
I may be in a minority but I love the M3 styling, interior and exterior. To me the exterior styling is about equal, and strangely enough I like the Bimmers interior better than the Audi's.
But I'd be happy with either :D
Nowadays, the only car you can compare with M3 in terms of driving pleasure is 911 C2. Other cars just fill the market gap for people, not able to appreciate the objective goods, M3 and 911 are offering, calling cars "hot" and "sexy" etc..
@ammihai: maybe you are right- but i need the quattro during winter here in austria. So no choice for me ;-)
@ElassonaG13 ...Or anyone who has driven both...
So....After watching this its Clear. The Audi is better built, smoother, and more refined yet performs as well if not better than the more aggressive and spirited BMW. Not to mention the Audi is a better looking car with an interior that beats the Beemer hands down. Audi all the way.

if you want a superfast daily, Buy an Audi.
shame they try to compare apples to pears. i would choose the audi because of its safe feeling character and comfort. its also more practical for driving in heavy weather(ie snow and ice)
on the rs5 tester was the nz flag on the sleve on his shirt??
@wazz1337 all that matter to me is that the RS5 is faster and quicker around sharp turns, less body roll. everyday driving is nowhere equivalent to racetrack, where the M3 would be superior
many people chose the rs5 for the aspect it's a beautiful car but the m3 it's more fun to drive
what is the colour of the RS5 ????? pleaseeeeee help me thxxxx
Im in love with both but sorry, Im pretty sure M3 is much more fun and much more sharp!
I wanted the RS5 to kill the E92 M3 even if it had to be 30-40k more. Can't expect to ever beat BMW in handling, so Audi should have put the RS6 V10 in there.
@miqojoe good comment ,but you say bmws engine ,dont forget audi make some of the "best" engines going :) also i think the bmw's ride could be better ,(to hard ,feel every bump) but audi has it just right
they'd have to fight those minor hitches out for them selfs if they ever did as you said
umm off the record, whats the name of that song in the begining...?
@MrDadada2424 and yet audi posts best interior and styling... I would pick the rs5 over a c63 or an m3 cuz it matches performance and looks much better, but thats just me... all great cars though
whats the name of the music in the beginning?
@Toddmars i love the new cts-v, it is hands down the best deal for a car on the planet. trudt me, if you go to the ctsv vs m5 videos, you will see me FLIPPING OUT on the bmw guys
RS5 looks more better than M3 compare from appearance...performance of both car are great also...
Germany always produce Great car...
Yes, in terms of technology, RS5 might be better. But, RS5 does not have 'spirit' which BMW M3 have...
seems to me the with the m3 you can drive yourself into trouble by slidding but the RS will drive itself out of trouble. And its a better looking vehicle anyway.
@mousepad99 ha ha yeah your right i think i might go get the chop soon so i can drive one
Philip Verbeek bmw is gewoon better
What's wrong with reviewers? Who in the real old drifts? Practically under 1% of people do. Quattro is safer, faster around the tracks and more confidence inspiring. Plus you can us it year round. A 450 bhp monster isn't that esy to control in the wet unless it has Quattro.
@ammihai I don't think you ever had neither an Audi RS nor a BMW M...
So, dream on!
@dudeisnotcoolio I agree!
it does not matter how it looks it's how it drives
for me ill take the Audi, but i have tremendous respect for the M3 and all BMW's Euro 4 Life!
My friend in Greece, the RS5 is around 10,000 euros more expensive than the M3
