Finally a channel that made the right comparison. In all reality the B8 RS5 competes directly with the E92 M3 NOT the B7 chasis. The B7’s compete with the E46 chasis.
Great video…two beautiful well made track cars having some fun. Would love to have both! It's impressive the RS5 won due to the weight ratio compared to the M3. Either way, love the RS5 (own an S5).
Just ordered an RS5 fully loaded. After 3 years of hairy rear wheel driving in the snow and rain with a BMW, decided for the Audi. Both cars are fantastically equal but for me, the traction and better interior quality takes the RS5 above. Move over M3, time to share or give up the podium!
Bollocks @Alex Douglas. Consider the poise and stance the RS has through the corners and stop to have a look at how hard the guy in the M3 is working to correct the oversteer. I’ve owned 4 Audis (Current S4) and 2 BMWs (1 x E36 M3) so I think I can have an informed opinion.
@MrFrankieFiggz i have the coupe~ so no dsg for me,,,,,, : ( I have not pre-ordered the rs5. I am also thinking about the ttrs even though i dont quite like the exterior of tt. what do you think? should i go get the tt rs now or keep the s5 and wait for the rs5?
Prz09 iv saw it but the rs5 was faster around that track, iv been in both and in Ireland and uk where the roads are often wet and slippery you can drive the rs5 slightly faster the awd get the power down better. The m3 is my favourite more fun to drive and very tail happy tho I personally found the e46 easier to drift
Well, this is a very polite review. I can tell you 1st hand that the RS5 doesn't take corners like the M3. There's a lot of understeer at race pace. The M3's over steer is just a case of not smacking your foot to the floor when exiting a sharp, slow corner. I love both these cars for very different reasons. They both share an amazing sound track though.
@MrFrankieFiggz really? that's good! you get 0 to 60 near 4 sec then, right? have a question for you. how do you like the APR. i am thinking about the ecu upgrade. apr's is coming soon. i would like to hear your opinion, i dont know what them. MTM, and ABT are bit expensive.
@refuse54321 Yeh ur right...i'm in the states too im shocked it hasnt come here yet its not fair lol. But yes the 7 speed dual-clutch in the RS is prob like butter compared to the s tronic in the S5. I was just skeptical on the 0-60 because audi was claiming the RS can get to 60 in 4.6 seconds but i have launch control in my S5 and it gets to 60 in that time but i was looking at comparison tests and the RS was getting to 60 in 4.3. Do u have urs pre-ordered?
. . if you want to go into a hedge backwards and meet Jesus . . buy the BMW . . if you want to live to drive buy the Audi . . for 1,000 Audi RS5's and 1,000 BMW M3's registered in 2010 . . today in 2014 888 RS5's are still on the road . . only 368 BMW M3's . . . that stat says a lot . .
MrBusunglueck exported where mate? RHD cars only go to Japan, Ireland, Australia, or Hong Kong. Unless he wasn't talking about the UK. In that case nevermind.
VirusTornado a lot of them still go to russia despite rhd. im just saying that its bullshit to suggest that all of the 650 m3s or so have been crashed. thats just a stupid assumption to make.
there are certain aspects about the M3 that I really like, the bonnet for example, and the mean look the headlights have, but I like the R5 more as a total package somehow...
For the m3 lovers amongst you, The RS5 can put down 85% of power to it's rear wheels. This is good as permanent rear wheel drive. BUT, after take off, AWD remains which BMW does not have. It's a no brainer. All those M3 lovers out there will be eating their hats if this race was performed in the rain. And YOU KNOW IT. After 3 years of BMW sliding and wheel spinning, I'm opting for all wheel drive. At best both cars are equal in the dry only. My mate who owns an M3 even admits that Audi had bett
Put a little moisture on that track and the Audi kills the BMW in the real world you may get one or two weeks in any year where the conditions on the public roads are just right for the M3 for the other 50 weeks the Audi has the most useable performance and is the much faster and safer car. For fifty weeks you losers in the M3 just watch the Audi disappear into the distance.
Base price for a M5 in the UK is £73,000 base price for RS5 £60,000 so you are wrong there plus the better engine traction etc come as standard so for £14,000 less you get a much quicker car the rest are just trimmings
bampie1 yea but the base price for the m3 e92(like the one in the video) was 51,000 pounds. i dont know why you bring the m5 in the equation since its not the same car. the m5 is based on the 5 series you know, but has more power than your dads 518d and i was talking about the m3 which is based on the 3 series, but also has more power than your dads 518d . audi builds a car called the rs6, which is like the fastest version of the a6(thats the 5series equivalent from audi) thats the car you should compare the m5(car you found on wikipedia) to.
Couldnt understand why some guys said comparing in snow or rain! .. how often anyway or how fast you could drive your car?? even a racing car need to slow down on rained!
@refuse54321 The TTRS is available in the states now? I like the TTRS, the only bad thing is that i heard the american versions will not have launch control, which gets the car to 60 in a crazy 3.6 seconds, full second quicker then a 1M, and the quarter mile in 11 seconds. My S5 has launch control and hopefully Audi wont get rid of that when the RS5 comes but you never know. Personally, I think the RS5 is a better looking car overall, its a real head turner, TT can be on the girly side.
Nice video. Both great cars. It is very hard to choose between those two. BMW would be much more fun in summer (drifting). But Audi would more fun and practical during winter, which is very long and snowy here in Finland. As I said. Very hard to choose. At least for me. Both look great, but Audi looks a little more modern. I'm not saying that BMW looks old, but maybe little dated.
@DIMITRIE46 I don't think Audi's RS clientele insists on beating M3's on a dry track. It has a considerably nicer interior and it will work very well whether it's dry, wet or snowing. The fact the RS5 is close (but not quite) to an M3 in the dry to me seems surprisingly good. I mean the BMW doesn't stand a chance if it's anything but dry, obviously. Downside and upside of AWD, simples. That's why Audi is Audi and BMW is BMW...they have no reason to copy each other.
Funny my track instructor (pro driver) said the same about RS5 - "it doesn't turn". Btw at the same time he was very impressed by TT-RS, said that it is probably the best AWD car he ever driven on a track
@weirdstring What I see is that the BMW M3 looses its traction in the curves, mainly because of their rear wheel drive which is somehow a big advantage for Audi and that fact makes me wanna choose the RS5. A classy car with some great traction. You loose the BMW's traction too easy in every weather condition but nevertheless a beautiful German car too.
I have a 97 A4. Love it still drives beautifully. No out of the ordinary problems. Audi till the death, though BMW makes amazing vehicles. I just prefer Audi. Both Awsome makers.
It's like 10 years later and the RS5 still basically has the exact same HP, just with a different engine. It seems like the RS model that requires an improvement the most.
Both great cars, i would pick the m3 though as it would be more fun to drive and you can take it drifting. Plus its ten grand cheaper if the review I saw is correct
@Amidat Oh, i am sorry for the confusion. But both figures i gave, i.e., AUDI's 829,307 and BMW's 1,190,796 is figures of the groups. So when we can take AUDI group's total sales we can fairly take BMW's as well. Usually all companies take sales figures of all its subs. That is also the reason of BMW's profit fig to be lower, coz although margins of BMW and RR is good, it is compromised by low profits of Mini.
@ebouchelle - no i don't but i'm sure if you do an internet search on the race you may find some.... yes the driver certainly does matter... and the best drivers usually want to drive the best vehicle.... it goes hand in hand.
@MrFrankieFiggz man it is 6300 miles. not 63000 miles. it's still like new . i am really upset with their offer. I am gonna try to sell it myself if possible. it's loaded with every option execpt for the adaptive cruise control. i cant agree with that price
The last naturally aspirated V8's from Audi and BMW. Sad to see them go.
So true
@@ryanmaharajh4945 quattro is cool
@@dragospahontu TRUE
@@ryanmaharajh4945 in the snow it's by far the nicest system out there. It's snake oil to me.

I like them. I fucking love them both.
me too :D
I love RS5 its beautiful and extremely fast.
one of the most beautiful car ever!
4:33 explains everything....
Yes explains that bmw is way better in corners than audi
Too much body roll for Audi, too much oversteer for BMW
Great video…two beautiful well made track cars having some fun. Would love to have both! It's impressive the RS5 won due to the weight ratio compared to the M3. Either way, love the RS5 (own an S5).
I love that "BLOOP" sound the RS5 makes everytime you shift :D
That jump at 3:28! ♥️
such a tough choice!

I wonder how different the comments would be if the BMW was in the front.
Had they put the M3 in front, it would have disappeared from view as it left the RS5 behind.
Haha! So true. It must have been funded by Audi.
The last statement is so true. Thanks for sharing.
No it wouldn't have it's easier to follow someone when racing than to be in front the m3 had the advantage here I'm a m3 fan but the Audi was faster

RS5 best coupe out there at the moment :) and it looks savage :)
THat track looks sooo sick to drive!
vorsprung durch technik
Those cars look so nice
M3 is the sexier one ! Look on UA-cam rs5 vs m3 .. 50-200kmh the bmw is faster !
What mode the BMW was in when racing, except for the Audi r8, which Audi holds the shape and looks? Which car gives problem in a few years?
I'd take the M3 any day even a snowy one :)
@TheBloodGood Why? It's the "public RS5". Why compare it to the "double the price" limited production GTS?
Audi also looks much better
im a huge bmw fan, but im looking for a an old gen coupe, and audi beats it on looks. looks bigger and just more quality.
If colors where switched the bmw would look better :)
I love the jumps. That shows how fast they are moving!

If only it was a 2014 rs5, it'd shut the bmw fan boys up, the 2014 thrashes m3 now, it's up to m5 standards, yet still based of the rs4, 0-60 in 3.9
I have a 2011 S5...is there any point at all at getting an RS5? the 0-60 time is basically the same
THAT AUDI IS SUPERB
@jakemiller5000 ...and please tell me which kind of "sports cars" the RS5 with its 1,8t belongs to.

love m3
id love to see a m3 gts and rs5 race.
id rather slide and have more fun than have a little bit better lap time
@cd6622 Cool! Do you also have a Veyron and a F1 Car?
M3 for real drivers :)
They are both brilliant 👏
BMW ♥
is the rs5 same as the s5 in the US?
this was not a fair test

Audi!

Try the bmw m3 start out first..just saying
All 3 of the American cars you mentioned are available in manual too.

Danny PussyPatrol and a bmw is orbabblt more then u could afford anyway so why make a comment like that 😂🤦🏻♂️
@AHNAYAL8R I dont know where you came up with 100hp, on BMW's website, I see that the new M3 has 420hp, whereas on Audi 's website, the RS5 has 450hp.
AUDI = sooo SEXY
@SOTNify true. Although when you pull up to a red light its usually a drag.
Do the same test in the wet that is the real world and watch the Audi run away
+bampie1 do the same test on a straighter track , taht is the real world and the bmw will run away
Put a little moisture on that track and the Audi kills the BMW in the real world you may get one or two weeks in any year where the conditions on the public roads are just right for the M3 for the other 50 weeks the Audi has the most useable performance and is the much faster and safer car. Whats happening in the month of august then?
Audi is from Bavaria as well ;)
But you got a point, at least the RS subsidiary is not from bavaria.
Funny my track instructor (pro driver) said the same about RS5 - "it doesn't turn". Btw at the same time he was very impressed by TT-RS, said that it is probably the best AWD car he ever driven on a track
arent these two different classes? shouldnt the rs be up against an m5?
my dad has had an Audi for 10 years and its never broken down.
whats name of this race track?
@refuse54321 Wow thats horrible. Sorry to hear that man, ur trading in ur car for the TT-RS?
It´s not being an arse, it´s having fun in the car you have ;)
I'm convinced.. Jamie is the best autocar reviewer.
The new 2012 RS5 is an absolute peach to drive. I just love the engine noise!

Both cars are great, but I prefer the excitement and challenge of the M3 more than the safety and 4wdrive of the Audi. It is much more fun to drive.
Smh why would u not say what year are the cars ? Im sure the m3 is a 2008 but the audi?? Like damn give details
i love the rs5 but the m3 is so quick the speed they both can hit a corner at is phenomenal!!!

Notice traction is off in the M3 yet they complain over a lack of traction in comparison to the Audi. How about M Dynamic Mode?..
That M3 driver is pretty good. Great car control
@snipski0894 Who mentioned Porsche?????
@ebouchelle - no i don't but i'm sure if you do an internet search on the race you may find some.... yes the driver certainly does matter... and the best drivers usually want to drive the best vehicle.... it goes hand in hand.
awesome track, cars are even more awesome
I think this video showed a comparison between the skills of the cars drivers instead of comparing the actual cars!
