If you're still in Canada I'd recommended checking out Canadian A&W it's a lot different than the one US.
They are different companies not even related to each other. AW is a really weird brand.
Good call, Canadian A&W is pretty good
Great idea
isn't american a&w just soda?
@@LaPetiteDeath no.
I really appreciate that although she mentions her children frequently, they aren't ever featured in videos. That's a good mom right there. ❤️
I couldn't agree more! I really respect her choice to maintain her children's privacy.
They have been occasionally in the past but she's always careful not to show faces
Yes I agree
I just love how she's even careful to hide their faces if they're in a video
Yeah hide the kids faces. Like Michael Jackson ✌😎💖
Alaska has a Big Mac called a Denali Mac, made with their quarter pound patties instead of their regular patties
How much does it cost?
They used to have the Mckinley Mac which was what Emmy showed in this video. A double Big Mac.
I wondered about this and had to look it up. a "regular" patty at McDonald's is 1.6 ounces. That's basically a rounded tablespoon of meat, also called a "rip off" or "Where's the beef?" in normal person speech.
@@hs5167 it’s $7.40 for just the sandwich where I live, which is central Alaska
@@LadyroachAlot same sandwich. Renamed to Denali Mac. Alaska Natives named the largest mountain, Denali, which was renamed to McKinley by settlers.
Welcome to Canada. Never expected to see you travel here. I never get bored to see what people think of what it's like north of the border. Hope you have all the fun possible
She's not too far from Canada!
Nothing is more precarious than eating fast food in your car while wearing a white shirt. Glad you enjoyed it!
I just imagine Emmy’s family waiting outside the car watching her bite all their food for her video xD
😂😂😂😂

we used to have snack wraps, which seem to be the exact same as that mcwrap you had but with ranch dressing and shredded cheese. i used to get them allllll the time as a kid, it’s a bummer they stopped!
I remember them wraps. I used to get the breaded chicken filet option instead of the grilled lol. IIrc they were only like $1.50 too.
We still have them in Canada!
I loved the spicy bbq one !
@@DylanWAnims no we don't. At least not in the Toronto area.
Wendy's has started making a grilled chicken ranch wrap now!
Emmy's impression of her kids at 6:32 is absolutely delightful
I love Skor candy bars. I thought it was fun they marketed it as a Swedish candy bar. . .especially since "skor" in Swedish means "shoes".
It is Swedish but you have the spelling wrong. It’s skör, not skor as in shoe. Skör means brittle in this context, like the toffee brittle in the candy bar.
Hahahaha! I did not know that. Too funny.
I need more Emmy in Canada content!!
As a McDonald's employee, it is pretty common for customizing those double sandwiches or a Chicken Mac. Some even do the 1/2 LB Mac, where they make it with Quarter Beef instead (we have to charge the Double Quarter Pounder price for it).
the only thing about Mc Donalds is that they do not offer bunless burgers. If you go to the USA at Wendyes for example, they offer their burgers in lettuce wraps instead of bread. Of course i could always ask for the burgers and not eat the buns. But i appreciate that Mc Donalds do customize their sandwiches.
1/2 lb Big Mac's are awesome.
@@celinescrappassion2184 just tell then no bun
@Malik Giles she means that since McDonald's no longer has Leaf lettuce, she can no longer get a lettuce wrapped burger.
cool
Here in Nova Scotia we have the McLobster for a very limited time and not in all locations. Basically it’s a Lobster roll and quite popular.
At one time in new England we had the MC lobster as well for a limited. Not sure if it is like the MC rid as far as it's a limited time thing that they we'll bring back at some point? I think I will stick with a lobster roll from a small mom and pa establishment were I no for certain the lobster is not only fresh, but their is no way its pollock trying to pass itself as 100% fresh lobster. If I want pollock I will just order the MC fillet o fish.
How much is it like $30 or is it made or krab?
@@ooinvsaoo I would imagine the reason you find it in maritime locations like Nova Scotia and Maine is because it's a more common and affordable food being the areas that lobster are caught. Locals will know what real lobster tastes like since they were raised with it, I doubt they could get away with subbing it. Also, Canada has stricter food labeling laws, it would have to specifically say "imitation lobster".
@@clarissathompson They would have to do that in the US too. We do actually have food labeling laws here, it's not the wild west that everyone seems to think it is.
Bet the lobster is fake composite fish sluge. Its what pink goop is called nuggets
3:15 I've had some phenomenal poutines with still (rather) crispy fries. They need to use the right kind of fries, not put too much gravy and you have to eat it fresh. McDonalds' poutine is definitely not that.
The Costco poutine (at least my local one and a while ago) has some that is nicely crispy, but I think they changed fries recently and I don't know if every Costco would use the same ingredients anyways.
Next time you are in British Columbia, give White Spot or Triple O's a try, if you haven’t before. Their milkshakes and Monty Mushroom Burgers are great!
A&W was always my favorite place to eat at in Canada. Haven't had that in 15 years or more... I remember the mama burger being good. Lol
Australia almost has everything the Canadian menu has! Interesting 😊
UK too
But their McFlurrys look better and they have real spoons 😂
Ditto NZ
Yeah canada has better mcflurries cause they mix them up. Australia just puts the toppings on top
if you havent noticed, you have a wooden fork because we banned single use plastics. no more plastic bags in grocery stores and in most places no more plastic straws or utensils unless they havent run out of previous stock
Dunkin Donuts hasn't existed in Canada for some years now. The last ones were in Montreal. I lived in Canada between 2008-2011, and I used to frequent one that ended up being shut down and turned into a new building. When I lived there, there were at least a few more. One was in a metro station, Lionel Groulx, till it converted into something else. I think the last was in a mall.
I heard they are opening one here in Winnipeg!
Fun fact- Canadians call them “chocolate bars”! So glad you’re enjoying our beautiful country!
I feel like candy bars is a more American thing to say. As a Canuck, I don't think I ever called them candy bars, and never heard of it until I moved to the US.
I thought about that as well, candy bars are definitely an American term, while I believe Canada was influenced by Britain originally for confections, especially Cadbury for chocolate bars! 🍫
Canada and the UK have much in common- even the McDonald's menu haha!
As an American I'd call something like a Hershey's bar a chocolate bar. A Snickers, for example, is a candy bar though.
@@PixelatedH2O I don't think you can legally call Hershey's 'chocolate'
I did a huge Car trip with my grandmum, back in 2006 so she could visit all her childhood friends who had married Americans and Canadians during WW2. Flew in via JFK, spent a week all over long island and Manhattan, then drove up to Boston, flew to Quebec city, spent a few days there and another few in Montreal then finally visited a week of Ottawa and Toronto then flying home. Such an epic month and one of my best holidays still.
When Emmy started by saying she's trying the mcflurry and has had it in the US, my brain immidately replied with ohh is it because the ice cream machine is always broken in the states?! LOL xox love your content, I have a restaurant in toronto I wish I could have had you over for lunch!
Yes, the ice cream machines in Murkan McD’s are also usually broken! 😂
Same in Australia and they don't blend them here anymore 😂
I've never tried the McDonald's poutine, but I can't imagine it being very good given their fries. A good poutine restaurant will double fry their fries and they should be crispy, and definitely not shoestring.
Before you leave, make sure to pick up some Miss Vickie's chips especially the Spicy Dill Pickle, Sea Salt and Malt Vinegar, and All Dressed.😋
It's not its soggy
Don't forget the ketchup chips!
It appears that Canada plagiarized Australia with that "Poutine". Chips and gravy was invented by Australia.
When I visited Quebec 6 years ago, I tried poutine at an authentic Quebec restaurant, then at McDonalds. The McDonalds poutine was better and cheaper.
@@luminatrixfanfiction - Poutine IS NOT just chips and gravy. Poutine is fries with gravy and cheese curds, so NO, Australia did not invent poutine. If anything, Australia plagiarized chips and gravy from the English.
Interesting how similar McDonald's here in Michigan is to Canada 😊 aside from a couple of items, such as the donuts and the poutine, most of the items you tried are available here as well, including bagels and various bagel sandwiches. Must be the proximity to our Northern neighbors
I was thinking the same. I seem to remember Skor McFlurries, but that was so long ago in MI. I feel like Canada still retained items that got discontinued here.
True!
I would like to know where "here" is, since I am in Utah and haven't heard of any of that.
@@teresaknight5466 mid-Michigan, just a couple of hours from the Canadian border 😁
Hope you enjoyed your time here in Canuckistan 😅😅😅
I did indeed. Thx!
@emmymade what did you see, do and eat while you were here???
I can’t believe the Double Big Mac isn’t a thing in the US. It’s one of my favourite items.
i would love to try a mcflurry but i have never found a McDonald's that has a working ice cream machine in my area
For reals, right?🍦
You sure you're not in America lol.
@@deborahtabb6387i am in America lol
That seems to be a big problem in the US. Here in Canada they're almost always working. I'd usually rather go for a Dairy Queen Blizzard though. Same idea as the McFlurry but better ice cream and with more topping options, although a bit more expensive.
😂😂😂
Canada definitely has awesome and yummy food.
Great stuff Emmy, really enjoyed this☺️☺️
Love the double Big Mac and Big Mac in-between steamed buns. It's the only burgers we can choose to have steamed buns or normal bun burgers here in New Zealand. The bite just melts in the mouth 😋😋😋
I think the McDouble is the perfect size and amount of burger for what I want from a fast food place. And it used to be even cheaper
They are like burger nuggets... there nice and small so you can get 6 for a good sized meal.
I order them plain with Mac sauce and call them Little Macs.
I ordered mine dressed as a big mac so I don’t have to eat that 3rd slice of bread in a normal Big Mac
I dated a Canadian (from just outside Toronto) and by far, my favourite Canadian snack was Fudgeos! They are very similar to our Oreo but with a darker chocolate flavor, very rich and luxurious lol. Of course poutine is a staple but my ex wasn’t super into poutine 😝 probably why we didn’t work out.
I only recently learned fudgeos and crispers are only sold in Canada
Oreos are a triumph of advertising over taste. They are sour cookies with a lump of sugar in between. Fudgeos are a chocolate biscuit with chocolate ganache filling.
My favourites are still Whippets though.
@@adajanetta1 Oreos aren’t sour though. Like what?
You guys don't have fudgee-os? So sad!! ❤
Loved this video Emmy!!!!
The chicken Big Mac was created to give non-beef-eating customers (for religious and/or health concerns) the 'Big Mac experience' without changing anything else. Very smart move, McDonald's Canada 👍
Here in Australia, we have the double burgers, Big Mac, Mcchicken and quarter pounder, fillet of fish, and we have the chicken wrap happy meal, the chicken Big Mac, we have potato cakes (thin slices of potato dipped in batter and fried in oil),great video Emmy, cheers from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
McDonald's has gotten crazy with the prices. I ordered three hash browns, and it was over 7 dollars.
Most burgers here in McDonald's cost almost $9. That's basically artisan burger price. And minimum wage you're likely to make at McDonald's is $2/h. I'm from a country in Europe.
A medium orange juice costs more than a half gallon at the grocery store. Insanity!
You know what's even crazier? Rent prices.
@@aperocknroll88 I'm am expert in that as a New Yorker. When rents are over 5 grand for a studio apartment..
Are you all loaded? “How much can a banana cost? $10?” They get paid $15/hr here, and you can live off of that. I don’t know how you do it in Europe. Maybe you should pay your fast food employees better
I’m not sure if they still do, but when I worked at McDonalds back in the 80s, the “middle bread” in a Big Mac was called the “club” I’m guessing it’s a term borrowed from a club sandwich, which has a middle bread layer.
I love watching you try different fast food it's a joy to see your reaction
Double Big Mac and Chicken Big Mac were both limited-time items in Australia. However, Double Filet-O-Fish is a available permanently. You just need to order the extra filet, and you get double cheese.
i love emmys fasination with canada, as a Canadian it is so
I'm in the UK and Chicken big mac has just been brought back. We've had it previously as a special item. We have the double big macs too every now and again and the wraps I think. Amazing how similar the candadian menu is to ours. I'd prefer the American or Japanese menu!
Welcome to Canada. Loved this review.
Crazy that the size of that bigmac is how big they used to be originally. They're so small now.
Also we can't even get the yogurt with kids meals anymore
We’ve had the chicken snack wraps at McDonald’s before but they stopped making them. That was a favorite of mine I would get the crispy chicken with honey mustard. And we also have the double fish fillet sandwich as well here in Hawaii as well as the double quarter pounder. And don’t forget those fried apple pies 😊
The manager at my McDonald's in the US told me that the wraps were discontinued because they took too long to make. They were one of my favorites.
Loved seeing you try our McDonald's food!
McD's has my favorite fast food poutine because their fries are the best. But had much better overall poutines in my life for sure.
As a Canadian (just east of Toronto!) I loved this video, McFlurries are such a great ice cream mix and Skor is delightful, so I'm so happy you enjoyed!
I am an American who JUST moved to Canada, and i didn’t even know about these items! Also!! Their Mcchickens are different. They are made with a thicker sesame seed bun
If you're looking for the American mcchicken in Canada, it's called a Jr chicken here
We have the American McChicken too. It's called Junior Chicken.
@@MinnieMarie16 ! I’ll have to try it out, i had no idea 🤯.
Try the bbq sauce for the nuggets, it’s wildly different from the American one.
@@Rachel-dx9kb Also, we still have hot mustard dip for Chicken McNuggets in Canada!
As a canadian: we think mcdonalds patties are too thin lol
Everybody thinks that! They’re tiny.
Wow! Thank you for sharing!
Love your videos and your reviews!!
Filet of Fish is my favorite sandwich, during Lent I eat at McD every Friday-But I am ot a fan of the double, as you said the ratio is off. However, since the double is often a better deal I will get it and eat it open face style with extra sauce (enough for each side of the bun and one filet..
doubling the patties suddenly makes McDonald's look so much more appealing if the price didn't also double
Your videos are so fun as well 😅😅😅 keep it up ❤
Awesome Video Emmy
Omg i hope you get to taste real poutine at one point, this doesnt compare. Always love to see you tasting canadian things 💓
Amen to that. Chain fast food poutines are a disgrace imho. Them fries just ain't right
Are cheese curds not supposed to be battered and fried? Those looked like a melty cheese ball by itself. I am a lover of mozzarella cheese sticks but I pull off all the breading and enjoy the stringy melty cheese. Now I am wondering if I'm not a fan of curds due to the breading.
Cheese curds are very different from mozzarella sticks or fried cheese
McFlurry is McD's version of the DQ Blizzard, not their version of a milkshake.
Yup, dessert not a milk shake.
Yes, McD also has actual milkshakes.
I am so glad you and your family had a good time. Love your blouse.
I am going with my husband to Montreal for his business trip next week, and was so excited to see snack wraps at Mcdonalds! No clue why they took them away from us south of the border
I don't know if they were done in the US too, but if not you must try the Bacon, Egg and Smoky Gouda McMuffin! It's SO good!
Wish we had those in the states. I used to get the steak, egg, cheese bagel sandwich and loved it, but sadly they have d/c it.😕
what's interesting about the chicken big bac is that it's not the same patty as a mcchicken or a jr chicken, it's literally a giant mcnugget patty lol
McDonald's in Canada used to have Wet Naps (with the white and green packaging) beside the kids bib holders (where the kids high chair was)! I remember always taking a few as a kid!
Heading to Canada soon…enjoyed this video so much!!!
The Canadian McChicken is unique. The American version is known as the junior chicken in Canada.
I'm glad you enjoyed yourself in Toronto. I get a kid's cheese burger every Saturday which is our shopping day. I always have to tell them "Not the meal. Just the burger. And 2 peppers." They always throw about 10 sachets of peppers in the bag. Lol. Anyway, a kid's cheese burger with 2 peppers is the perfect snack when you're pushing 70. Cheers from Ottawa :-)
“2 peppers”? Do you mean two complete packages of ground black pepper? That sounds like quite a lot.
@@johnnyc.31 There is only a tiny bit of pepper in each pack. 🤏
2 packs is just right. Nice and peppery 👌
This reminds me of my dad. He loved the cheeseburgers!
Thank you for visiting Canada glad you had fun. As a home sick Canadian living abroad thanks. Come back.
such a cool video thanks!
So happy you’re enjoying Canada Emmy! As a Maritimer I can assure that you are definitely in Central Canada, not Eastern Canada 😊 Were there any foods that your family tried that they loved or maybe didn’t love so much?
I wish I saw your video when I lived in Canada (or before). 😁
If you ever have a chance try the west coast. Vancouver is really lovely! 🍁
Enjoy the plastic spoons while you can have them! Here in Europe they're using wooden cutlery. Might be eco friendly but it's not nice. (like your fork, but they also use it to serve icecream etc). It seems they forbade disposable plastic cups and plates in the EU as well.
Vancouver is lovely.
@@emmymade And Victoria even more! And I can see it from my house! Haven't been there since Covid, must go this year!
@@Trebuchet48 Ah, when I lived in Vic I used to love sitting at Beacon Hill Park and looking over the water to the night lights of Port Angeles!
@@clarissathompsonI love Beacon Hill Park. We would always go see the goats. ❤
@@jennifergraham3752 omg! I named one of them! Lol! My friend was a volunteer there and I visit with her one day and one of the goats had kids, her name was Happy and so all of her kids were named based on hers, there was Smiley, Laughter, Giggles, etc. Though they had one little cutie without a name yet so I suggested naming her my Mum’s middle name, Joy. They made her new name tag and put it on her when I was still there, I was so proud! Lol!❤️🐐
Skor and Heath are both made by Hershey. I looked up once how that came about. As I recall, Heath was a competitor product, Leaf I think, so Hershey came up with Skor. Then later they bought Leaf's American operation and acquired Heath as well.
Double everything in Canada 🎉🎉
Sadly, McDonalds Poutine is the worst of the Canadian fast food poutines. If you are still here, try KFC poutine!
I would go Triple O's over KFC
No no try the Costco poutine!!
Harvey's poutine
For fast food options, Harvey's is the king of poutine.
@@Rachel_1983 Harvey's had a great butter chicken poutine. I miss it dearly.
The thing I loved about Canadian McDonalds was vinegar packets for french fries. That same toy was in the US as well. They are starting to get away from plastic toys.
Emmy...I literally don't care what your video is...I watch them all! I know whatever it is I will love it!
8:55 the double fillet of fish is sometimes available in the US also
About Dunkin Donuts, we used to have them but because of Tim Hortons popularity Dunkin Donut decided to stop expending in Canada and they all vanished one by one, the last 3 dunkin donuts were in Quebec but they closed few years ago. I loved Dunkin Donut back in the days, especially since i grew up in the 90s and they were very popular at the time. A Tim Hortons taste test would be great if you've never tried it.
If you grew up in the 90s, what time do you consider as "back in the day?"
Tim Horton’s have almost disappeared from SE lower Michigan over the last few years. Even ones combined with Cold Stone Creamery. Still have Dunkin. Often combined with Baskin Robbins.
McDonald’s is not what I would call real poutine. Would suggest if you travel to 🇨🇦 again, to try one at a diner or family restaurant type of place, or in Quebec. The fries are thicker and the gravy doesn’t make the fries soggy. We used to only have Dunkin in Quebec but they pulled out of the province. As you can tell, we Canucks are very serious about our poutine! Love your channel and enjoyed this video! 😃😎
You should add a winter visit to Quebec to your food vacation destination list. Québécois food is delicious
Love love love the double filet of fish ❤😊
I hope one day you can come back to Southern Ontario for the yearly Oktoberfest festival to do some taste tests 🥰 lots of kids & food events too! Kitchener does it big so maybe one day you can experience it!
I can't imagine McDonald's fries lending themselves well to poutine
Nope, they don’t.. I love freshly done McDonald’s fries, but they’re the worst for poutines
Love your blouse! It's so pretty!
For the happy meal, you can actually have a choice between a toy or book, and if they're not opened they can be exchanged for another toy or book (so you won't have multiple in your stash). This is what I do as a daycare worker.
I loved it when they started offering books when my daughter was little. So much better than another piece of unnecessary plastic. They used to also have grilled cheese sandwiches as a Happy Meal choice which was perfect when we would go for a treat.
Mc Donalds Poutine is not Real Poutine
No shit, sherlock. McDonald's food isn't even food 😂
No it's not, the gravy could be...a lot....better.
Yeah, it’s the worst fast food poutine, Imo.
I’m pretty sure she knows that bro? She was already at the McDonald’s and wanted to try it…
A McFlurry - a sundae a soft serve cone and a thick shake are all very different things
Fellow new yorkian here😊😊 I love watching the food review videos you do❤you're channel is so relaxing and peaceful to watch❤😊you should see if you can find a friendlies restaurant and do a taste test there😊i went there as a kid till they closed alot of there locations😢it would be awesome to see how they taste after all these years😊❤
Enjoyed your McDonalds review in Canada thanx 😂
Welcome to Toronto. Glad you're having a good time 😊
Right nice of them to give you the extra version of the Double Big Mac!
They briefly sold double filet o fish in my part of the US a few years ago. I agree, the magical thing about file o fish is the perfect proportions. The double ruined it.
So cool you were in TO! Welcome ❤
I loved the full size chicken wraps they had several years ago, I guess I could try to make my own.
McDonald's in the US used to have chicken wraps when my kids were younger. They were my kids' go to meal when we went there. They were stand alone items that weren't available in a kid's meal though. I believe they had ranch and bbq and you could get either crispy chicken or grilled. Unfortunately, they dropped those items a few years ago. For a while, you could still get them even though they were officially off the menu while McDonald's still had the chicken tenders. But once they got rid of the chicken tenders, they were officially gone.
snack wrap!! my favourite!
Harvey's poutine is better than McDonald's, in my opinion. Haven't tried Wendy's poutine, but I'm curious how that tastes, since their fries are a bit thicker. Dairy Queen has a few different items here than in the US as well. There was a Coffee Crisp Blizzard earlier this year, but it was a limited time only deal.
I had no idea Dairy Queen was in Canada! You probably don't have tacos though. They're a staple in Texas and some of the best tacos as well. Way better than Taco Bell or similar places.
Saipan/Guam, America Samoa and the Hawiian Islands have McDonald's that cater to Islander favorites which are somewhat shunned in the US. Anyhow, a common breakfast combo in the Pacific Islands is Spam, Eggs and rice.
Very interesting. TFS!
They used to have Wraps at McDs in the US... there were Chicken wraps AND Big Mac wraps! I loved the Big Mac ones. Hates when they discontinued them. Now (so I don't get all the bread of the Big Mac I order a Double Cheeseburger - minus the ketchup and mustard, add Mac Sauce and lettuce. It's delicious!!! You ought to try it!
You can get the double Big Mac and any other doubles you would like here in Gallipolis Ohio (just have to pay a little bit more of course), Also we just got bagels too. One of the other favorites my son gets is called a McGangbang which is a double cheese and a McChicken combined sometimes you have to order them separately and put them together yourself but once in a while you can order it already made.
OMG welcome!!! Love the big mac chicken
Watching this and eating McDonald’s :) thank you Emmy
I like to get my mcflurries with both Oreo bits and mini m&ms :D
Never had it , but there are several poutine shops or food trucks here in Rochester , NY as well as a nearby grocery store that makes a version every Tuesday.
poutine is popular all around canada you can literally get it anywhere and at restaurants you can usually upgrade to a poutine.
