Great video but especially showing true family values. Taking care your entire family. Imagine your family must be close to each other. Take care and God Bless you and your family.
Nice video Mike . Looks like that Land Plan is well worth the money . It does a great job in grooming that driveway . It also helps if you know what you're doing which you do .
Mike, you have cost me a lot of money......and taught me a lot! Thanks! Bought a tractor, land plane, box blade, grapple, roto-tiller. Built two buildings! Life is good Outdoors with the Morgan’s!
Hey Mike, good repair on the driveway. Water moving down is sure destructive and is a continuing problem. Have fun with it as you need too. Thanks for sharing with us.
Wow, I've used a back blade on the back of an old Garden tractor to clean up my driveway for years and was thinking of getting a box blade. Now you have me rethinking this idea. Thanks for the video Mike.
box blade is just as easy once you know how to use it and the box can do many other things in addition. I once tilled a 1/4 acre 4-5 inches deep with the tines on my box blade and can be used to move dirt or gravel in bulk not just turn it over. best to have both.
Excellent video today Mike. I bought a land plane fairly recently and it is one of my favorite attachments. It's almost idiot-proof which may be why I like it so much!
Mike, your a good operator and make tractor and loader work look easy. Grading with a dozer is no piece of cake ether. I have often thought how nice it would be to sit in a lawn chair and operate with re-moat controls where you could see everything.
You don't have to watch a land plane while using. Just drop it down and pull. It does this one task very well, but isn't useful for anything else except rear ballast.
If you would put a cross pipe (culvert) across the road right below where the water comes to the road it would solve your problems all along the road. You can't run water forever along a road and not expect problems.
Nice job Mike. You've got to take care of your mother. She took care of you for a lot of years and apparently did a good job of it! Have you ever had your mother in your videos?
Good job Mike. Your Mom will appreciate this I am sure. Mike, I mentioned it in a earlier video on the use of road fabric. The low side ditch running alongside the d/way would be a good spot to use it. I prefer using my bucket but a angled scraper blade can do it too. Positioning your bucket perpendicular to the ditch, you can cut & shape it to your liking. I like the bucket because it gives me better control with quick results. Once you achieve the look you are looking for, now it's time for the road fabric, cuts easily enough with a utility knife. After it is layed down, now your ready for the riprap. Two things are accomplished doing this: (1) You save the stone, it stays on top of the fabric, forever & (2) it helps to contain weeds that tend to grow in these wet environments. I mistakenly lent some of my fabric to my 80 year old neighbor down below my property a few years back. It was originally a 500 ft. roll but had about 286 ft. left on it when I let him take it home on his tractor for a small project he was working on. I allowed him up to a 100 ft. & no more than that. It took me close to (5) years to get it back & when push came to shove, I called Forbes & insisted I need my road fabric back, please... A few hours later he shows up with it, takes it off his truck under one arm & throws what was essentially an empty roll in the yard, i.e. 27 feet. Yes, I was pissed, big time. The moral of the story, NEVER AGAIN will I lend that man anything! Bill on the Hill... :~)
Hi Mike-Its impressive how in so many of your videos you are dropping the gravel evenly from the bucket as you go. I believe I have seen every one of your videos, and unless I missed it, don't believe there is one showing the camera angle from inside the cab when dropping the gravel. This one gave me that idea as at the very beginning during the intro you look like your ready to start dropping it and then it cuts away. I thought how awesome it would be to watch from that camera angle. If it is in covered in another video, maybe you could note in a reply. If not, its just a suggestion as it would be great to see your technique from that perspective. Thanks again for everything you share here!
Please look into a "Floating Top Link" for the land plane. It would allow the plane to articulate a little and run evenly on it's skid rails. These are commonly used in 3pt finish mowers.
You actually need a solid top link adjusted to force the rear blade down to make it cut similar to the front one. If not, the land plane tends to want to just tip forward with the rear blade not doing anything. Top link adjusted with down force for the rear blade and a hyd side link is the best setup. Side link lets you tip the roadway right or left to your choosing.
I had a similar problem but it was crossing my driveway and washing it out. The pipe was too small so I put in a larger corrugated pipe that was covered in a silt fabric, then I put 3 - 4 inch stone over that and topped off with more fabric then stable mat and crushed stone. Problem solved, two years later I had my complete driveway covered with fabric, stable mat, stone, then reinforced concrete. It wasn't cheap! My driveway is over 2 thousand feet long. Boy did that take a bite out of my wallet! Keep up the great videos. The corrugated pipe will let most of the water to flow through then the remaining will flow naturally.
Please revisit this in a newer video. Just what have you done with a landplane since? I'm sure it's a essential need somewhere on your future projects.
As others, sure enjoy your videos and discussions. Getting ready to get my first tractor (Kubota L3560 likely) and will have a land plane for our 1/4 mi of sloped gravel drive. Keep em coming!
Hey great video! Land plane works great! I live on a dirt/gravel road and your temporary fix would be there permanent fix. I have a gravel drive and look forward too maintaining it every spring. I have a back blade maybe someday I'll get a land plane! Ok great video
Hi. Between a boxscraper, rake, rear blade or plane land what do you guys think will do a better job on fixing an old compacted gravel driveway. It does have a lot of gravel already. I'm trying to see what will be a better purchase for what I need
MIKE, you always make jobs look EASY! Great information, & another good video! Me, Im afraid to START a job sometimes because of the "time factor" won't let be able to finish completely.
Trying to decide on land plane vs box blade for my RK24. I have a steep gravel driveway that washes out on occasion with super heavy rains. Leaning towards the box blade. Any suggestions, Mike?
@@robrusticwoodlandproducts6662 That sounds about right. Did a series on the back blade, box blade, and land plane for maintaining a drive and showed how to use them.
Mike... I don't know if it will work for you but if you can find some plastic culvert pipe that is being tossed and use an old chain saw and cut it in half lengthwise and line the ditch with it... you've got to have lots of construction contacts where you might find the pipe without buying new... just a suggestion. I still look forward to your videos, lots of great information that you share!
Time for an excavator with a cleanout bucket Mike! Talk to Volvo about doing some videos with an EC60. You’ll be able to do things you never dreamed of doing with that thing. Keep up the good work and cheers to the warmer busy season 👍🏼
Hey Mike, I’ve got a 1/2 mile long road covered with #4 size limestone ... 1 1/2 inch pieces. Do you think the land plane will smooth out gravel that size?
You know, for how many times you change implements you can look into the quick attach system for the lower arms. Simple install and saves a ton of time and frustration.
I'm interested in how your post hole digger stays so vertical. I hook up my post hole digger to a little Yanmar 165, and I usually have a helper with a pole to the gear head at a 90 degree angle to hold lateral vertical and as I go down with the digger I move the tractor forward at a tangential to keep fore and aft vertical. In other words, I can dig a five-foot deep crooked hole very easily. Still better than without any tractor.
The rip/rap is great idea, for controlling the flow of water. Another possibility is to lay down some sort of mat that's used to control soil erosion and make several piles of the rip/rap in different places along the length of the area. Unless that's a small branch, then then the rocks should do the trick.
Hey mike update on the WA900-8 Stan told me he had 4 trucks come up to the ranch each dump truck was 20 yards they dumped into the bucket the drivers were in awe as the last truck dumped into the bucket of the WA900-8, Stan said it was three quarters full the guys asked what is total load, Stan told them 170 tons he said the look on their faces was great, I guess we own the biggest front loader in the valley, one of the drivers said, Lucky lack mine has the 900-8s loading the huge dump trucks two buckets and its loaded is what the driver said, 170 tons per bucket two and dump truck is loaded next truck please.
I worked on a job once where a WA900 was working. I was a Blaster working at the Kentucky Speedway when the track was built. They had a WA900 there moving the rock I blasted. Massive Loader!
Makes it almost to pretty to drive on it ! Dang if ya do and dang if ya don’t , could you use posts the length on that side ? Maybe just move the driveway over about 6 feet ! Lol. Good luck 👍
Nothing better than helping mom. Driveway looks great.
That is a perfect setup with the bucket and the grader scraper.
Great video but especially showing true family values. Taking care your entire family. Imagine your family must be close to each other. Take care and God Bless you and your family.
Another Job Well Done!!👍👊
That land plane looks like the cream of the crop for gravel drive maintenance
Thanks Mike, your videos make dinner time with 2yr old jr. much easier. We are both requesting more grapple videos.
Thank you!
Nice video Mike . Looks like that Land Plan is well worth the money . It does a great job in grooming that driveway . It also helps if you know what you're doing which you do .

Matt S totally agree.

Oh yes gotta keep mom happy because when she is not happy the whole family feels it. That land plane sure does a quick job.

Totally agree. Love my land plane! It’s a life saver for the 1/2 mile gravel road we have.
I think this will be my next implement. They are handy! Good video Mike
Nice job that land plane looks like a great implement to make life easier!
I LOVE THAT THING WORKS GOOOD

great job , that is a handy little rig !!!!! Bet your mom is Happy !!!
Good video Mike. Have to say I really enjoyed not having music in this video it was nice to hear the tractor work.
Another excellent video Mike keep up the hard work we love watching these videos!
Like Llyod Painter, love your videos and starting to spend lots of money. New tractor and several attachments. Can't wait for your deer stand build.
Love the video!
Great job enjoyed that, I have a box blade but I think a land plane has a better results at the end !!! I have got to get one
I love my land plane.......its the easiest attachment I ever used.....
Good job Mike!
Have a day!
Nice Video! As always enjoyed the video. Windy and and cool in NE GA today.
From watching your videos Mike, I bought myself a Stihl MSA 120 C, it’s absolutely perfect for the firewood I cut 👍🏼👍🏼
I really enjoyed that Mike and it didn't require a whole lot of thought. I think your Mum must be very proud of you.

Nice to have the toys to fix things fast 👍🤠
Mike Crawford below said it all. Thanks Bud
For our gravel driveways, no question Land Planes are the best. For our dirt trails, it always seems our box blade does a better job. Great video!

Thanks for helping me learn. Always helpful!!! Now, if I could just afford to buy one of those puppies.
Just got my daily RK email and you was at the top! Great work yall. J love the videos. Hope yall are doin. Good

such a good son!
Are you able to ajust the plane to leave a crown in the driveway or is it a fixed design pretty much just levels? Thanks in advance!
Mike, The land plane seems like a perfect attachment to groom a driveway.
It seems your snow is gone, so hopefully limited rain from here out...J/C
Wishful thinking! This is Pittsburgh, if you don't like the weather just wait an hour! :-D
Good morning Mike from Allen and Brenda from canada nice
Another excellent job well done👍
Great work!!

Hello Michael, I have a newbie question, can you angle the grader in a way to make crown on the driveway? Thanks
Hi. Between a boxscraper, rake, rear blade or plane land what do you guys think will do a better job on fixing an old compacted gravel driveway. It does have a lot of gravel already. I'm trying to see what will be a better purchase for what I need
Have thought about taking the blade and recut the ditch and then line it with 3" stone. In Oregon we have terrible time with erosion.
I am assuming you meant ditch?
@@russelldeem7355 yes

All the rain you have had the last 8 months has made many issues for you well done Mike. Work safe.
Trying to decide on land plane vs box blade for my RK24. I have a steep gravel driveway that washes out on occasion with super heavy rains. Leaning towards the box blade. Any suggestions, Mike?
Mommy going to be happy now
I'm a box blade kind of guy, but that land plane looks great
Wish I this over my box scraper...
Need to try a land plane, using a box blade now.
I always liked a box blade and they work great, these land planes just seem even a little better
Nothing like a real man working with real toys to improve a situation.
How did your syrup sap season go this year?
Gotta get RK to get you a tilt bucket setup
Oh ok thank you.
Hello Morgan's. The 3rd function on the loader how does it operate on the control handle?
Maybe you could comment on the land plane vs. the box blade for us tractor newbies. Thanks for another great video!
Plus hooking them up and maintenance.
Thanks
Mike did do some videos on this last year. Can’t remember the video numbers. Maybe around 150 to 170.
@@robrusticwoodlandproducts6662 That sounds about right. Did a series on the back blade, box blade, and land plane for maintaining a drive and showed how to use them.
#141, popped back up in my suggested videos lol.

Was thinking the same thing . Line the ditch with a half culvert to stop the erosion .
Did you do a video on cleaning out the ditch and lining it with rip-rap?
seems like if you could put some rippers on that plane you would have best of both worlds?
Time for an excavator with a cleanout bucket Mike! Talk to Volvo about doing some videos with an EC60. You’ll be able to do things you never dreamed of doing with that thing. Keep up the good work and cheers to the warmer busy season 👍🏼
Do you think a 35 HP tractor can handle the 7'? (my 35HP Branson weighs a lot, 4500 lb)
Nice to have a few hours, rather than a few minutes, of daylight when you get home.
I need to get one of those it works great #WorldsOkayestFarmer
Have you ever topped it off with #8 chipped limestone?
Perhaps some corrugated culvert pipe alongside the driveway?
Hey Mike, I’ve got a 1/2 mile long road covered with #4 size limestone ... 1 1/2 inch pieces. Do you think the land plane will smooth out gravel that size?
Butting in here. The plane will shave the high spots and move that gravel to the low spots. Go see one and it's obvious.
Thumbs up
I have an RK24, how well do you think a 60” land plane would work with an RK24?
You know, for how many times you change implements you can look into the quick attach system for the lower arms. Simple install and saves a ton of time and frustration.
What do think. Run skid loaders tractors excavators etc at full throttle when working with them
Thanks for that low shot by the creek... Now I have to pee...
lol, same thing when I was editing

How do you like that Mahindra?
I am a city guy, for now, what do you mean by “RiffRaff”? is that stone or gravel you put in the ditch?
Rip Rap, Its larger rock like 4 or 6" size
Put some geotextile before you put any rip rap down, this will prevent the water from washing out underneath the rocks.
The rip/rap is great idea, for controlling the flow of water. Problem with Land Planes is the don’t get rid of the pot holes. You need to below the pothole in order to fix
You are showing two RK tractors are better than one. It is nice to have a bigger tractor too.
When is the rk 74 showing up.
