anyone watching recently...if your tab sketches are pulling away from the lid when you specify dimentions, if you right click on the line that faces with the lid you have the option of fixing the line in place, this will stop the line sketch detatching from the lid.
Lars is the best teacher ever because he doesn't just tell you how to do things in Fusion 360 but explains the concepts and the why's of how the program works, not to mention his advice to start with using shortcuts instead of searching through menus is much better. I started watching another set of Beginner Fusion 360 videos which were highly recommended but found them hard to follows. Lars makes it easy to learn this program.
Duuuude your tutorial literally saved me from wanting to quit Fusion360. I was struggling to understand this program and decided to take another crack at it, following your guide. I've successfully designed two of my projects within a day of watching. Thank you for this.
To everyone that is struggling at 7 minute mark where the line does not snap to the lid. DO THIS ( I found Lars' response deep in comments to this problem) 1. Hit P to bring out project tab. 2. Click on the line of the lid 3. click OK. Now your line will be included in your sketch and you can snap to it.
72 yr old here. My son turned me on to 3D printing for Xmas and now I'm moving into Fusion. Who would have thought! I find your presentation to be excellent for me as a newbie and am interested in learning more. Subscribed! Thank you.
Thank you Lars!! I just went through these three videos. I've been using Sketchup for a few years (self-taught), and this was exactly what I needed to get started with Fusion 360.
I have never in my life used cad programs, but I'm now in a position I have to. Your teaching methods are clear, precise, and easy to understand. Thanks, I can't wait to start practising.
I have tried learning cad for years and never could grasp how fast the teachers go on these videos, as if i already know most of what they are doing ! now I found your video and just completed the first 3 videos with you, but with some struggle do to program changes. but many thanks for such a good 3 part beginner video series.
New version of Fusion 360 has exactly the opossite coordinate system. Negatives become positive. Constraints have also moved up to the upper toolbar. Lots of changes
6:37 Since we are sketching on the construct plane how do your lines snap to the lid? Edit: Got it, Name > Preferences > Design > Auto Project Edges on Reference is on
Just to add to everyone else. I cannot tell you how helpful these three videos are. I have a simple project that I wanted to complete but could not remotely figure out how to get started on it. I watched the first video and was able to get about 60% done! Made everything SO easy to understand. Just finished the second and third one, and I think I know how to finish my project. Thank you very much!
So let me get this straight. This is a tutorial video series for beginners that actually explains how to use the program tools to complete a full project involving all the steps involved from start to finish instead of spending 30 minutes hovering over every tool icon in the suite while reading the names of each tool? I'm a bit confused, there must be some mistake, you have mistakenly created an opportunity for a savvy beginner to actually learn how to use this software. The content creator community will be outraged. I fear the repercussion for these outrageous actions will be severe. I found this set of 3 videos very comprehensive. As a brand new user in Fusion 360 I was able to work along side the video in real time with the ability to step back and review at any time. I received my first 3D printer today in the mail and if I ever get it built this will be the first thing that I print from my own preparation. Thumbs Up, and a new Subscription. Thank You Mr. Christensen!
went through all three videos … designed the whole thing you designed … after finding the first one installed fusion …. this is my first time doing this kind of stuff .. but your videos are just awesome ….. I was able to follow through the whole thing and made it … great videos Mr. Lars and thanks a lot …..
I started with Fusion 360 yesterday. These tutorials are great and I'm learning fast. Most problems I encounter with the videos so far seem to be related to a redesigned interface since the original filming. For instance, at the 6:56 mark I was not able to continue because a few things looked and behaved differently. Have you considered refreshing the videos to use the current Fusion 360 UI? Probably a good starting place would be the Absolute Beginner series.
Software Version Different As an absolute beginner, just downloaded software, which is significantly more recent that the software used in video. Got stuck (and frustrated) multiple times, partly due to the different software versions. Would love to see these videos updated. Accidentally stumbled on the 'how to navigate' video, which helped immensely. Painfully got thru the three videos, now going back to repeat them. This time should be easier. Thanks for the videos.
Patrick Strohmeier mainly having issues fumbling my way around due to different software versions. I am pretty much brand new to fusion 360 (all CAD software). The differences in software versions caused me to search for some of the options. I did end up finishing the project. I will have to go back through the series to do it again to make myself better.
Problem with making LID tabs at 7:00 min in video (Response to Juan Manuel Garcia). It appears that the new version of Fusion 360 has a slight difference that needs to be done at 8:33 of the video. In order for the tab on the lid to be anchored on the lid surface, it looks like you have to use the "Colinear" constraint BEFORE you add dimensions to the tab, or the tab will move off the surface of the lid. To do this, select the "Colinear" constraint and then select the line for the bottom of the tab and then also select the line corresponding to the surface of the lid that you want to anchor the tab to. I noticed that unless you do this step, the tab does not go from BLUE to BLACK and therefore can't be extruded. Thanks for the great videos Lars, Cheers!
I happened to choose your three part beginner video when starting out in Fusion 360 over all the other channels available. I can’t imagine anyone else could have put together a better beginner tutorial and I feel no need to look elsewhere on UA-cam as I continue to learn this software. Over these three quick and concise videos I have gone from confused and frustrated to having a great grounding in the fundamentals of Fusion 360 and an appreciation of the power of parametric modelling. Thanks
This is the best type of tutorial in my opinion. You learn as you go along. I hate these boring videos that explain every tool you going to need in advance without actually showing what it does.
All 3 videos fascinating and really well presented. I have the confidence to go forward with learning this now. Thank you for making these videos Lars.
Now THIS is what an instructional video series should look like. I was afraid of using Fusion 360 because of its different tools that are at the top. A whole lot of "I have no idea which to use" to even begin something. With this series, the way you explained the shortcuts, the rule of a sketch on a plane or surface, the clear explanation of every step, made it easier for me to grasp. Thank you Sir. You have done your job. You deserve my subscription. ☺
I liked these videos and your method of presentation. Most of the steps were easy to follow but I have the latest version of F360 which seems to work differently for some tasks than the version you used in the videos. This has been extremely frustrating. I have managed to work around these discrepancies and finished the box and lid but an updated video would be nice to see. Thanks for getting me started with F360. I think it will be a great tool once I learn more about it.
But 14k good. Like is said about Trump right now: He could cure cancer and give every person in the US a $million and there'd be many that still hate him.
The problem that a lot of people facing is, while drawing the lines for lid guide, we were unable to set the dimensions as Lars did in the video. The solution I found was simply draw all the lines(resultantly the lid guide will be floating in the air or will go inside the lid) then select the colinear option from the constraints menu and select the bottom line of the lid guide as one geometry and lid surface as another geometry. Hope this helps you guys as well.
not that great solution. the better one is right click on your name in top right corner of the screen and then follow the steps as mentioned by @ Scott Dube in comments: Edit: Got it, Name > Preferences > Design > Auto Project Edges on Reference is on Thanks to @Mr. Random
PLEASE HELP ME MAN. THE SKETCH'S LINES ARENT DEFINED AND NOT TURNING BLACK FOR SOME REASON. YOU HAVE DISCORD? MAYBE WE CAN HOP IN A CALL. if not its okay but I really need help I used so much of my time already
@@irfanabbas3839 Thanks Man. I was having problems with the lid guides moving all over when I tried to add the dimensions. Your suggestion fixed it and saved me from tossing my computer into the sea.
Thanks. Seriously, thanks. I'm new to 3D printing, and consequently to 3D modeling, I managed somehow to make even some complex pieces with Fusion 360 and as a tinkerer I honestly thought this software was created by Satan to make the humankind suffer. But holy hell how much wrong I was. I had the overconfidence to think I could figure everything out by myself, and I had all it wrong. This is honestly a remarkable piece of software and you tutorials are simply great. I will follow them all and start from the very beginning to (possibly) get it right. Thanks again for your great work, you, sir, are an amazing teacher.
@@England91 Yes, I want to learn blender for non technical prints, I know it's not a CAD and it has totally different uses, but I agree that would be a great tool to add to my knowledge base
A perfect tutorial. You are a fantastic teacher. I have never used cad software ever, but now I feel as though I can at least begin to learn it. Thank You Lars.
I've been a MasterCam guy for years. An opportunity came up to better my life, but now I have to learn this. Thanks to you and the last 3 videos, I feel 100% more confident. Thank you. 😊 (Subscribed)
Mate you are a bloody legend!. I started with the official tutorials and they are enough to make you want to try another product! #Autodesk should employ you as their ambassador and head of tutorial strategies.
Fantastic tutorial but When drawing "lid tabs", Very, very, very important to make sure "Auto Project Edges on Reference" is on in your preferences. On the Hobby version Autodesk has it toggled off as of 9/17/21. Program will not pickup the offset projected xz plane that intersect the lid bottom. Thank you Mr Random for pointing this out.
Excellent teaching, thank you Lars, and I look forward to following further videos! I but I have found that the differences between the version of Fusion 360 and my version - only just got it - make some things seem to happen very differently! If you CAN find the time, I think an updated version would be worth doing. One thing I found was in drawing the lid 'guides'. When I used line to sketch the first shape, the point wouldn't snap to the surface, and it drew as a completely independent shape. The only thing it would recognise was the construction line. When I dimensioned it, the shape moved UP away from the lid surface! I had to do some exploring of my own to get it in the right place! I also find that your links in the videos don't work, I had to use the links in the description.
Im somewhat proficient with autocad, decided to jump onto fusion 360. Watched a few other beginner tutorials, none of them compare to this. Lovely work man. You cover concepts quickly while focusing your time in the correct areas. All the best!
Fist, after going through about a dozen other F360 tutorials yours is the first one that did not leave me ready to quit. Most other seem to be wanting to set a speed record in passing out info without explaining much. I am coming from Old School drafting (remember they days when we did it with pencils on a drafting board?) and the early days of CAD. Last Autocad I used was R14. Parametric drafting was something that was just coming out back then. I'm back learning because my son and I have some things we want to create in 3D printing for a project we are working on. You are an awesome instructor. Teaching this Old Dog new tricks. Here is my problem. When trying to do the dimensions around time stamp 9:03 everything works well until I try to do the apex to base. At that time the entire sketch shifts down to match the 5mm height instead of moving the apex point down. Have done undo back to the beginning of the sketch and even back to setting the offset to the ot the plain and keep getting the same results. Any clue what I am doing wrong?
I’ve got my popcorn - let’s do this! (Thank you for the videos! The keyboard shortcuts have made this learning process way easier than I thought it would be.)
If your sketch is jumping off the lid when creating dimensions (8:50 or 12:50) try rotating your model (shift + middle click/drag) and select the bottom line of the trapezoid. Right click and select Fix/Unfix, then return to the orthographic view by clicking on the face of the cube in the top right corner. Edit: do this before creating the dimensions
@@off_the_road I'm actually just as new to Fusion 360 as you are :) not really sure why it happens but this is the solution I found while messing around in it
So far the best tutorial I have seen to date, very informative but(there's always that but), at exactly 7:00 minutes into the video you are putting a line starting at the lid and you put your cursor down to the lid and you get the crosshair and click. I don't get a crosshair plus also when you do click on the lid, you get 2 red circles on each end of the line segment in which I don't get either. Without being able to get this I am stuck at this point and can not go further. What am I doing wrong? Edit: Got it!!! Read Mr. Randoms post below and that did the trick. :)
Wow, it was a VERY good mini series! I was concerned that watching in 2022 will not make that much sense, but it's all about the way of thinking and name of tool, rather than UI layouts (that change). Thank you so much.
I had an issue with getting the sketch to snap to the underlying line, so I used the projection option. It worked. Thanks Lars for your excellent videos. I've watched # 1, 2 and 3. Onward.
hi Lars, I am a beginner and really found the part 1 to 3 for absolute beginners very helpful. what would you recommend the next tutorial I must follow? Thanks, keep up the good work you have done. regards Sandeep
Fantastic video. But, how about updating it to the latest version of Fusion? I was mostly able to adjust for the differences but hit a wall in video 3 where the behavior of the line and dimensions tools did not match the video. I'm still trying to figure it out.
@6:58 in the video you attach a line to the lid, but I cant do how much I try. I have made the offset and also construction line (so its 4 mm from the edge of the lid) But there is nothing to attach/snap the line
Lars Christensen... you are one awesome instructor! I'm just getting my feet wet with Fusion360 after taking a decade long hiatus from CAD software. My previous experience was with Pro-E, but having not used CAD is ages that knowledge has since slipped my mind. Thank you so much for making these amazing, and well put together, videos! You are well spoken, thorough, and keep a good pace with your instruction. Us "beginners" really do appreciate these videos!
i have used AutoCad for a long time, but only in 2 dimensional, having the need to go 3D, to three D print, i was wondering how i was going to do this, i knew of fusion 360, which i know is a quality software. similar to solidworks, i thought it was going to be too difficult to migrate to 360, but i came across your excellent video series, in the three part videos you demonstrate the simplest and most effective route to using the tool, i liked the simple 80- 20 rule approach, which you demonstrated very effectively. the fact that you have the autodesk tee shirt, suggests to me you are an autodesk trainer, if not you most definitely should be. thank you
You are a natural in terms of teaching. I’ve watching several other tutorials and none of the were so detailed and easy to follow than yours. Awesome job. Keep up the good work. Greetings from the Caribbean!
Again as with other two videos - Brilliant thank you. I also agree with Abhinav I can't understand how people can find fault in how you are conveying this learning. Very succinct and easy to follow.
At 12:47 mark when you start adding the demensions I'm running into an issue. Instead of the part moving down when you set it to 2.5mm mine moves up away from the part. How do I fix this?
Found the issue you have to make a change in your preferences - Name > Preferences > Design > Auto Project Edges on Reference is on. this will hold the sketch to the body of the lid
Thanks Lars, At 7:00 in you are starting a sketch and starting on the top line of the lid. I can't seen to find this line, I notice your cursor is a cross and when you hover over the line on the lid it changes to an X , my cursor does not do this ??? I'm stuck at this point
Solution found by someone down in the comments.."Ah found the solution down in the comments! Go to your preferences and turn on "Auto project edges on reference" under General -> Design!
Thank you so much to whoever found that, you have saved me from going through all three videos for the third time as i was convinced that i had done something wrong in an earlier step
Lars, what a good teacher you are! I am a beginner and your speed and speech is perfect and comforting allowing me to keep up and to be sucessful with these 3 lessons! Thank you. I will continue to follow you. Keep it going!
I also struggled with connecting point to the underside of lid at 7.00 I tried several times but could not get the line to turn blue -I must have missed something. Up to this point these have been very helpful -Thanks ok may have found solution reading comments below ; Name > Preferences > Design > Auto Project Edges on Reference is on
When I try to give the dimensions for the vertical sides of the 2.5 mm, it either goes up above the lid or imbeds itself into the lid, same thing for the tip to the last bottom line that is connected to the, I was able to keep it flush to the lid by turning it around and giving the 2.5mm dimension from the other side, but either way, when i would get to the 5mm height dimension it would go up into the air, or again, imbed itself into the lid. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Same thing happenning here, so far I can follow all the steps. Seems that somethings related to the current version. I'll be seeing more tutorials about it till I found the answer. The sketch keeps hanging in the air, the cursos doesnt change its shape when reaching the base as in this video.
From - @UCnQFmsNTFAhTIPJVMyKgxFw - preferences in Fusion. Make sure to turn ON "Auto Project Edges on Reference". Same here. I notice that when Lars places the construction line (at 6:47) he gets two dots highlighted on the bottom face. I assume that means it's an active feature. Mine don't highlight. No active features on the face.
@@doug1cooper Exactly, turned that on and finally could complete the missing lid parts, thanks! Preferences / General / Design / Auto project edges on reference
Works great until this point, defualt setting on the latest version wont let the lines snap on at 6:57, I think this is because the plane is further in the model on the inside wall as described. My page shows up the gridline. I tried to fix it but somehow ended up permantly reversing the lid???? Tutorial was great apart from that!
Wish I had youTube when I did university 20 years ago. These three videos are much more clear than my lecturers and tutors (who probably weren't too interested in teaching!) and those really slow even at the time Pentium 166 we had in the lab back then.
Love from India. I am that guy who never understood drawing and was unable to learn designing i was unable to even draw a simple box but from your video tutorial I learned my first parametric model. Really thank you from the bottom of my heart ❤️best wishes sir😇
forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-support/sketches-won-t-snap-to-existing-model-features/m-p/8884107#M59866 Try following the directions that jeff.strater gives in his reply. I had the same problem and this worked for me.
I managed to put a line in to do what you do @6:58 - but then symmetry doesnt work. So I need an updated how to do as you describe. Someone wrote "got to "preferences"", but where are these settings?
Im stuck on the inside tabs for the lid. I can add the extra plane, draw the construction line but can't get the other lines to attach to the lid. When I add dimensions to them, the bottom line that should be the lid moves up or down and doesn't stay on the lid line. I have tried to get the little triangle, when starting the first point, but it doesn't show up.
Make sure you turn "Auto Project Edges on Reference" on in your preferences menu (top right, click profile icon, select preferences, and the option is under the design tab). Found this further down buried in comments, fixed it for me
@@squaregoco5056 tried that and it still sinks the bottom line into the lid or pulls it up from it. Do I need to start the drawing from square 1 with the preference changes or will it adjust on the fly?
I started fusion 360 yesterday. With these 3 videos I literally created my box project (yeah simple object) with no issues at all and feel totally confident with simple geometry. Brilliant videos.
Lars, the line does not snap to the lid body as shown in your video at 7:02 mins. Offsetpane is constructed, the pane and a new sketch appears in the Lid section within which I try to snap the line. Fusion version 2.0.6613. All preference settings as per default. What is wrong?
knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Cannot-snap-to-components-when-sketching-in-Fusion-360-on-Mac-after-an-update.html this fixed it for me - "auto project edges on reference" was unchecked in my Preferences.
You explain things well for a newb, like you understand you also were once a newb in this All these sorts of videos need your way of teaching this stuff, ie the teacher thinking on how they were when they were trying to learn this software Thanks for your videos, you help newbs feel at home, as cad software can be daunting as so many teachers of it forget how they were once newbs and what they would of liked to know learning it. You certainly get a thumbs up from me, and well done for trying to do a video on this like how you were at the start and how you think people want to learn this from scratch, alot of these videos assume people know stuff that they cannot know from the start.
I see a lot of us is using the quarantine time to learn fusion 360 (old videos now have comments of 1 hour ago) I am going to be an experts in 3 weeks time :-)
On the sketch palette I only have the options to select, I don't have the constraints..... is there any way to move them from the top toolbar back onto the sketch palette?
On the latest version of fusion 360 I had a hard time sketching the lid "lips" since I couldn't get that first line point to snap to the surface of the lid. To get around this, I first selected the surface for the lid's edge and then "projected" it at the sketch plane. Hope someone finds this helpful.
Thank you. I couldn't for the life of me get that point to snap, either, and spent a couple of hours re-doing it multiple times. Projecting made it work right away.
I came back to say I found a solution to this, just in case anyone else is having this issue. Go to "Preferences," "Design," -- and click "Auto project edges." I don't know if it's off by default or I mistakenly turned it off, but that seems to fix this problem.
@@Cloudfish Thank you... I have another question: this should be easy to figure out, but apparently not for me. Where on earth are the preferences? it's not the wrench icon, it's not the gear icon, and it's not under the file icon either...?
Hi quick question. when I want to draw a line as explained in 6:58 minutes the snap line doesn't become blue. What did I do wrong? For the rest very useful.
I'm sure this isn't the correct way, but the way i got around this was to make a line finishing the drawing and then just extrude that. the lines never turned black for me, but i could click the blue infill and use that anyway
I had the same problem but figured out that you can use constraint. You don't have to be precise clicking on that edge. You can specify/constraint that horizontal line with vertical line by coincident.
There's a setting that is disabled by default in the new version of Fusion 360. To turn the setting back on, go to Preferences (your initials in the top right corner, then preferences), then "Design," then make sure the following are enabled: Auto project edges on reference, Auto look at sketch, and Auto project geometry on active sketch plane." Upvote this comment if it worked for you so more can see it. @Alastair Moore @Jitzu666 @Linh Hoang @Sanne Stoutenbeek Here's a link describing the problem and how to fix it: knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Cannot-snap-to-components-when-sketching-in-Fusion-360-on-Mac-after-an-update.html
@@EadieCD Thanks Chris. Two out of three were already enabled in my preferences. I added 'Auto project edges on reference' and it worked! My new line now attaches automatically to the body of the lid. This was really helpful.
I bought a book off Amazon on Fusion 360 for beginners. I read half of it and still didn't have the confidence to make something like these 3-part videos showed. After part 3, I'm ready to jump into 3D printing something I created. on to that next video! Thanks Lars! You make it easy to understand and I'm ready to start on something new.
Hi, I'm unable to snap the starting point of the line as shown at 6:59. I made the offset at 13mm corresponding to the inner edge of the box. So I don't understand how I can now select the edge of the lid as shown in your video which is at 17mm from the centre line.
If you project the lid before, it will snap. So before drawing the line, hit P, select the lid from the side, and hit enter. Then start to draw the line.
I think you are having the same issue I just had. Solution for me was to open preferences (left click your name in upper right). Under General -> Design tick "Auto project edges on reference". Hope that helps, cheers.
So when it comes to drawing the lid. When I do the symmetry and horizontal constraints, everything works as it should and the lines are great. But when I go to dimension lets say the 2.5mm length for the lips of the lid, it expands the dimension down not up. Is there something I'm doing wrong that it goes up on your video but on mine it goes down when I follow the steps? I'm about to just draw the lines to length just because it is easier at this point, but it would be nice to find out if you can tell it which direction to dimension to up or down left right etc. Thanks!
@@Scottforyoutube No. I just ended up drawing the part to the dimensions he specified to resolve it. Everytime I did it the way he did it, it would expand it downwards. Its a nice feature to use it the way he did, but it was giving me grief

That is awesome to hear Mikoto's .Thank you for watching the videos
Your 3 Beginner videos just made me realise I can do this! Thank you so much.
Software Version Different
As an absolute beginner, just downloaded software, which is significantly more recent that the software used in video.
Ed Rothen I am having the same issue. I also just stumbled on the how to navigate video. The outdated software makes things so much harder.
@@user-le4qy8vi1u Whats the problem? I can do everything explained in this video perfectly fine in the newest version.
This is by far the best starting tutorial I have found around. Thank you!
You are so very welcome! 👍😊
Same problem here, this comment helped a lot 👍
i try to follow your advise, but i am really frustrated that it work one time on 200 .... any tips ?
Glad you like the content. Thank you for watching 👍😊
HUGE introduction to the program. Thank you, Lars!!! (Need to do some other nights on your tutorials .... :-D )
All 3 videos fascinating and really well presented. I have the confidence to go forward with learning this now. Thank you for making these videos Lars.
Part 3 - the best!
As an old time ACAD user, from back in the early 80's until I retired, this is a whole new world. Very interesting. Good job.
Thank you 👍😊
I liked these videos and your method of presentation.
How can 75 people think that this tutorial isnt good ??? Its bloody fantastic!!
Hope this helps you guys as well.
not that great solution. the better one is right click on your name in top right corner of the screen and then follow the steps as mentioned by @
Scott Dube in comments:
Edit: Got it, Name > Preferences > Design > Auto Project Edges on Reference is on Thanks to @Mr. Random
That saved my sorry behind, I was getting so frustrated...thanks!

Thank you for the tutorial. 5 years later this is still very helpful. Some components are not in the exact places, but everything is very relevant.
Great video! Always wanted to learn CAD, since I am sequestered to my house it is a perfect time.
If you learn blender and this at the same time it all makes sense quicker
@@England91 Yes, I want to learn blender for non technical prints, I know it's not a CAD and it has totally different uses, but I agree that would be a great tool to add to my knowledge base
A perfect tutorial. You are a fantastic teacher. I have never used cad software ever, but now I feel as though I can at least begin to learn it. Thank You Lars.

Good point!
This saved my night. 4 hours trying time figure why my lines were pulling away.
All the best!
watched all 3 videos, you are an excellent teacher, made it seem simple, thanks!

Thank you very much for the video, perfect for any level beginner, helped me a lot, keep making more videos✌✌✌......
Awesome video, easy to follow along, now I can 3d print a conduit box!
Awesome stuff!
I had this also, to make it work I right clicked on the bottom line and chose fix so it couldn't move then I adjusted the dimensions.
it works but bottom line should not be construction
@@isaaccarter1861
I’ve got my popcorn - let’s do this! (Thank you for the videos! The keyboard shortcuts have made this learning process way easier than I thought it would be.)
Thank you man, you saved my life, you deserve success in your life.
Yeah that worked... thanks!
THANK YOUUUUUUUUUUUU
Thank you for the tip, it was life saving... Can you please explain what I did wrong to need that fix?

Amazing series! Had a great time learning fusion 360! Thanks a lott for the good work!
Onward.
Me too, I had to project the line first for it to snap.

I have made the offset and also construction line (so its 4 mm from the edge of the lid)
But there is nothing to attach/snap the line
Lars Christensen... you are one awesome instructor! I'm just getting my feet wet with Fusion360 after taking a decade long hiatus from CAD software. My previous experience was with Pro-E, but having not used CAD is ages that knowledge has since slipped my mind. Thank you so much for making these amazing, and well put together, videos! i have used AutoCad for a long time, but only in 2 dimensional, having the need to go 3D, to three D print, i was wondering how i was going to do this, i knew of fusion 360, which i know is a quality software. similar to solidworks, i thought it was going to be too difficult to migrate to 360, but i came across your excellent video series, in the three part videos you demonstrate the simplest and most effective route to using the tool, i liked the simple 80- 20 rule approach, which you demonstrated very effectively.

At 12:47 mark when you start adding the demensions I'm running into an issue. Instead of the part moving down when you set it to 2.5mm mine moves up away from the part. How do I fix this?
I experienced this issue when "dimensioning" both the tabs. I fixed it by using a Coincident constraint.

So when it comes to drawing the lid. When I do the symmetry and horizontal constraints, everything works as it should and the lines are great. Is there something I'm doing wrong that it goes up on your video but on mine it goes down when I follow the steps?
