  • May 2013. A short update on the production for this year's corp. Grown in the Dallas TX area in pots to keep the soil acidic. I get about 5 to 10 lbs of blueberries a year. Very simple to grow once you understand that soil acidity is important. Find acidic soil, peat moss, feather meal, cotton seed meal, and fish meal, and mix in pine bark to help to well drain soil.

Blueberries are native to North America. They do very well in the cold, and ice hurts them very little. I leave them out every winter and get a good crop each year. However the Texas heat and direct summer sun light can kill your plant. Try placing them in a partial shade.

Quick question as I also want to grow blueberries here in Dallas.
Do you move these pots into a greenhouse or your garage over the winter?

Thank you brother. I am also in DFW. Just purchased bushel and berry peach sorbet blueberry. This is beautiful. Should we bring the pots indoors for winter?

Blueberry plants can stay outside. They actually need some cold time to produce blueberries.
