Obsessed and still in love with AIC since I was 20. I'm 50 now and this is still my go to when I want to listen to the best music ever made. I sound like my parents now. They don't make music like they used to. And that's on the real. Missing you Layne on this 2019 October pre dawn morning. Rest Easy Beloved 💜
Layne was without a doubt a great singer, but one cannot forget that Jerry wrote the majority of the lyrichs of this great band, and he is a fantastic guitar player. He is very underrated in my modest opinion. AIC rules. Period
There is only one Layne Staley, forever remembered and never ever forgotten 💝🌹 RIP Layne Staley and Mike Starr 😇😇❤️🤘 I love Alice in Chains, big big fan!! 🤘❤️✌️
Every Alice In Chains album is their best in their own way. Facelift has the metal sound that everyone loves. Dirt has the sludgy guitars and dark lyrics. Tripod has a Dark Feeling in most of the songs. I wonder what Black give way to blue will bring.
It's not even an opinion that laynes voice is one of the best of all time....... just listen to all his live shows ..... all sound better then studio versions....its a fact that his vocal style inspired the creation of godsmack , staind , puddle of mud , adema , and so many more bands
Layne put every drop of his soul into songwriting and singing. His performances are legendary as was his drug addiction. True, to be cliche', there will never be another like him.
He wrote lots of lyrics. He only composed a couple of sings. he wrote the lyrics To Man In The Box, Sea of Sorrow, Real Thing, and Love Hate Love just off of Facelift.. The latter two I'd say are the best songs in that album
@@user-xr8li8sr4n Are you high?? Or by "songs" do you only mean music? Jerry's amazing, and he wrote most of AIC's music, yes. But without lyrics, I'm sure we'd all be asking who the hell was Alice and why was she all chained up. Credit where it's due, Layne wrote ALL of the lyrics for Man in the Box, Love Hate Love, Confusion, Real Thing, Rain When I Die, Sickman, Junkhead, Dirt, God Smack, Rotten Apple, Nutshell, I Stay Away, Swing on This, Brush Away, Sludge Factory, Again, Shame in You, God Am, So Close, Nothin' Song, Frogs, Get Born Again, and Died. He wrote both music and lyrics to Head Creeps, Angry Chair and Hate to Feel. Layne also wrote nearly all the lyrics on Mad Season's Above. Including River of Deceit, Wake Up, X-Ray Mind, Artificial Red, Lifeless Dead, I Don't Know Anything, November Hotel & All Alone. Long Gone Day was co-written by Barret Martin, Mike McCready, Mark Lanegan, and Layne Staley.
I AGREE, a BILLION PERCENT. AiC IS the WORLD'S GREATEST BAND. EVER. Thanks so much for posting this video! And much LOVE to Layne. He is SO very missed. Thanks to Jerry, for keeping them ALIVE. Love them BOTH.
Growing up in a little suburban town outside of a big city, when I was a little kid I didn't know what music was other then some old folk song we'd have to learn in some music class. Then I hit high school a couple years ago, and now I'm just over half way through it, and I'm proud to say I'm an Alice In Chains fan and not some pop head jock caught up in the pop culture. God I love this song, the entire Facelift album, and every song this band did with Layne. Awesomeness in so many ways
I love Layne and Jerry's vocals on this song. Plus message is they move on as you wallow in self-pity and that's bad-ass. I live tomorrow/You I'll not follow/As you wallow/In a Sea of Sorrow
soft gentle soul...fought the battle alone :(..and lost..sings from the soul......the range of his voice was so brilliant ..tears flow freely for you layne as i listen to your tormented soul .slow suicide .rest in peace now sweet man xxx
The style of headbanging that Layne did always sticks with me. Everytime I hear an Alice In Chains song, I start doing that particular type of headbanging in honor of Layne.
Nobody touches this band at this time. Layne's Voice was incredibly powerful, amazing talent. Great times, good memories...lookup the Miami "Man in the Box" LIVE footage - the one where guys in boxes run all over stage for second...The final chorus has a section of LAyne hitting the most incredible chord I have ever heard - IF YOU HEAR IT, YOU WILL KNOW WHAT I MEAN!!! Talking Legendary Pipes!!! He died young sadly, but left us all with amazing lesson in vocal prowess.
great song ,im an old chainhead myself AND I LOVE THE SONG DESCRIPTION! (maybe there's hope for the new generation afterall, thanks to all the new kids showing support for this very very very very underrated band YOU ARE THE FUTURE!)
I don't think you can get any closer to the studio version of a song during a live show than this. Unbelievable. It's like they recorded the studio version of this song at this show.
This band grabbed me as a young man and showed me what great music and a a kick ass front man could do , coming up and a away from the 80's hair and androdgenous shit that was flowing from mtv back them. Hands down layne staley is the best rock singer in that 20 year period, now only Chris Cornell could match him and take the crown every so often. Rip to both of them
an unique voice, I grew up with them, thanks lucifer! I miss Staley so much!! I'm from brazil, remember when my friend in uni was like "see who died today?" and I was like "yeah, totally fucked up". 8 years after and we still miss him bad, thats why I play Alice In Chains veeery fucking loud in my car when driving. cos it makes me feel good.
For those asking about Layne’s T-shirt, it’s a Zeppelin shirt. No doubt about it that Layne & Jerry would’ve rocked out to Zep! How any guitar player couldn’t adore Jimmy Page is beyond me....same with Robert Plant...what a VOICE!!! For those of you who haven’t gotten into Zeppelin yet, you *need* to check them out! Kashmir is an amazing vocal work, a work of art...😌
Listening to this performance is basically exactly the same as listening to the one on the album. MAN I wish people could still play this good live :'(
Jar of flies was/is my favorite of their albums. Even though it's an EP. But fun fact: It was the first EP of all time to make it on the billboard top 100.
It really is a damper on my day everytime I listen to alice in chains and just think on how much it sucks Layne passed. He was a great vocalist/musician that just got too heavy into drugs. Terribly sad, but at least they left alot of songs behind that can carry on for more generations. RIP Layne
We miss you Layne, 10 years that you've been gone. Your fans will never forget you. You were the most talented above all the fucking Cobains and all the 90's frontmans, and one of the greatest in history without any doubt. Tons of love!
where the fuck has music gone!? when kurt died the generation died! but when layne died the music died! i def miss these guys....i just finished getting my tattoo of layne and kurt on my arms so im reminded every day of while im still here....these guys saved my life....thanks

I'm 34 and they are my favorite band..all I'm saying is they're timeless ..rip Layne Staley
I agree. Nothing today even comes close to this. Early 90s was a magical time for genuine music
Healthy Layne singing these tunes is a gift from God! Heard them in '91 with Soundgarden at the Trocadero in Philly! Best ever!!!
OMGOSH! How lucky! 🍀
I fucking love Layne Staley
juan fatche me too
Layne was without a doubt a great singer, but one cannot forget that Jerry wrote the majority of the lyrichs of this great band, and he is a fantastic guitar player. He is very underrated in my modest opinion. AIC rules. Period
True but layne s voice is were the magic comes from
@kauangabriel3657
Jerry's voice is so special to AIC's sound.
@@ClutchNixon true!! He is the band headline 😂
Nobody could sing like Layne... ♥♥♥
Except Cornell weiland axl rose and numerous other vocalists with heavy distortions
Biljana Ilić yes,Nobody .....
@@riptomydeadhomies axl rose sucks
@@riptomydeadhomies not as good as Layne.
simply put one of the greatest singers ever
And Kurt cobain is a decent singer at best
joe Costello I agree. Cobain was more about stage presence, lyrics, ect...as far as his singing, yeah, decent at BEST
joe Costello staley blew Cobain outta the fucking water
Well I agree but cobains lyrics are not even that good. AIC has far superior lyrics. Just my opinion.
I also agree Cobain was just decent. He actually wrote the lryics to most of his songs about an hour before recording.
i can not say how much i love this song. This band. This vibe. This is the ultimate awesomeness.
Hell yeah!! every time i see them I hate Guns and poses even more
TheBoogienator3000 my favourite Alice song 🎤🎸😎
TheBoogienator3000 Sean Kinney hates this song.

@@jadagetalife4883 Lol same here!
Yep, AIC, Tool, some Pearl Jam, with a few heavy metal and classic rock bands mixed in.
Layne had the best voice and his harmonies with Jerry were truly amazing! Also, gotta love his side to side head shake.
what a talent. Layne was so freaking amazing. There will never be another like him.
90's music is the best
Absolutely
70's !!!!!
I still can't believe how good those two sounded harmonizing. RIP Layne

Layne's voice really gives me chills at times?
petrkryloff when he screams but not like screaming it's just pure power and so intense. And comes so dead from his soul.
Straight from his soul* wow I fucked that up haha
Just awesome... Def one of the all time greatest bands.
That descending vocal harmony is genius. I fucking love this band.
Damn shame I never had the chance to see these guys live...wish I had a time machine. Favorite band of all time right here!
Layne s singing is so unique. No one can ever come close to his vocals. Its all his!
layne's voice and vocal melodies are amazing

Layne and Jerry sing great harmonies together
band was in there visual and musical prime right here, laynes dreads, jerrys headbangs, mikes big shirts and stance, sean being sean just wow
Its time to get a better generation of musicians into the scene. this is real music!
What a singer... Probably the best. I'm so disappointed that he died.
+Christian Tremblay Undoubtedly the best
Freddie Mercury and Layne Staley, the best singers of all time.

Nobody had that raw, visceral sound that Alice In Chains had. R.I.P. Layne and fucking good job to William DuVall man.
They were pure poetry. It was just so raw and freakin real.
