I love my Strike Pro SE.
Had it for 2 years, and it's been great.
buy it a beer and take a rag to it!
Great 1 year review very clean setup and maintenance thruout, I also got those evans patch for bass drums i noticed my bass drum was starting to get some abuse from digging into much from pedal lol those patches def help thanks for that recommendation. Great to hear your moving and getting a bigger place so your able to move drums inside, its nasty hot in our garage too and don't really want to invest extra for those wall ACs specifically made for garages, I just set mine up in office space.
Yea all my other rooms here are occupied, the garage would be ok, but its just too damn hot in the summer.
I've had mine for 8 or so months and I love it. I'm left handed but play right handed, with some left hand ride usage. So I got some splitters and mirrored the ride so now I one for my left hand to ride. I used my old rack mounted Roland tom, mirrored the HH and put it on the right side. Both HH's are controlled by the left foot. I mirrored a 4th crash, and finally I stole the floor tom rim sound and bought a 9" splash. So with splitters I was able to greatly expand the set and all gave up was that floor tom rim sound. I've got shit to hit everywhere, weeee! It's like an amusement park ride you can go on as many times as you want. Now maybe someday I'll have the balls to re wrap them in sparkle purple, that's my dream color.
Do a video on how you added the new cymbals and how you split them.
That bass drum patch helped immensely! Would you be able to share your kick drum settings sometime? Thanks!
Big bird kick with internal compression cranked to the point where it does not clip or sound like shit. that's it.
Hello Peter, love the videos!
I get my Strike Pro Se this coming Wednesday. Very excited.
I’m a newbie.
Along with the kit I am getting a cord to go from my iPhone to the module to play songs through so I can play along. Beyond that I’m clueless.
What other things (computer, splitter, software) would you recommend?
I am getting the ear buds you recommend in another video.
Thanks!
You are all good to go...just stick with the basics at first. I need you to cover Raining Blood by Slayer and post the video when you get your kit. You have work to do!
I'm trying to decide between this kit and the Roland TD-27KV (and possibly the VAD- 306). Your videos are super helpful.
BTW, what's your favourite Slayer album? I know for most people it is Reign in Blood. For me, it's Show No Mercy, followed by Hell Awaits, and then Reign in Blood.
Just get the goddam Strike Pro Se and call it day. I will pick a newer album....God Hates Us ALL
I have the KZ 10,they rock
Great "update" review, thanks! After not playing for the past 15 years or so I just picked this kit up. Where in TX do you live?
Glad I could help! I currently reside in the most liberal, overpiced city of them all.....take a wild guess. I am not bragging about that either.
When you say bass drum pedal offset device? What do you mean? I’m having trouble finding what you’re talking about? Do you have a specific product recommendation???
take a look in the description
I know what you mean with the double bass pedal not lining up exactly with the trigger device. I was thinking though can you just adjust the length of the rod between the two pedals it usually gives you that option and then you just tighten the hex bolt down with the drum key to whatever length you would like
Enjoyed the video thanks, I keep wanting the Roland V-Drums TD-50KV2 but ever time I put it in the cart I look at the price and close the web browser... This Strike Pro looks great but its still not looking like the 50KV2 or the cymbal quality in particular? Upgrading from a Nitro Mesh Pro SE which is my first kit.
Yea Roland's are overpriced and overrated in my opinion. To each is own. The cymbals in the Strike Pro SE are fine, don't know where that comment came from.
I just bought the same kit. I've noticed the same issue with the bass drum ( it misses or skip a kick when playing double bass drum) it does it randonmly. I swapped the cables and it worked perfectly then I swapped them back and after a while started doind it again.
For me it seemed to be a temperature thing as I have mine in a hot garage ( summers are too hot in Texas ). You made need to keep it at an adequate temp to ensure this won't happen. Mine works now when things cooled off a bit.
@@PeterGoesINya still does it. But its random. I spoke to sweetwater twch support which is the place where I bought from tbey told me do a factory reset or to tension the ring of the bass drum. I'll try to record a quick vid and upload it so you can see it.
Yea remember its Sweetwater, they know as much as we do. They are only are a wholesaler for Alesis. Maybe try and contact the company directly since it would be covered in a factory warranty.
@@PeterGoesINya will do thank u!!!
I really would like to know joust how loud, or soft the kit is acoustically. Please
Buy the kit, hook it up and the listen for yourself through headphones or a drum amp. Hope this helps!
I m thinkin about getting one of these for professional use, given their ability to play at low volumes but with same results.
go for it I am sure it will work just fine
@@PeterGoesINya Yeah,it seems so.Thx for the videos
Any issues with getting the Hi-Hat triggering to work correctly? Both hitting the pad and using the foot? That seems to be everyone's biggest issue with the set.
I really don't know what you mean, that issue was with the last version of the kit. I have no issues with it
@@PeterGoesINya Many people still have issues with the hi hat and the ride cymbal of the SE kit as well.
Once you try superior drummer 3 on an electric kit you will never go back. Just saying. I love my Strike pro se. The sounds in the mod are ok, but SD3 just takes it to a whole new level. Great video bud.
I have this set and forgive my ignorance, but what is "superior drummer 3?" Is that a program you download into the sound module. Would you mind expanding on that if you have a minute? Thanks.
Yea that is what I hear. From your experience, what hardware buys would you reccomend in addition to the sd3 itself? Things like Laptop, memory, interface, etc.. it would help knowing your thoughts as others would also like to know.
@@PeterGoesINya I run it on a pc with a Motu interface. SD3 has a lot of Gigs to download. About 450GB. You can use it as a standalone or a plugin in your DAW. You can get EZ Drummer 2or 3 if you want a cheaper and more simplified program.
its a bit more elaborate way you trigger better sounds that you would be limited too in a factory module like the Alesis Strike Pro Se. The software cost in the ballpark of $500 and you need a solid laptop with memory to make it work. Comes with added expense but it will sound so much better the the generic module way.
What specs for your PC do you recommend? Also, do you have any delay issues when triggering? I would assume its run through USB from the module to the interface, then interface to computer correct? Would you recommend downloading the sounds onto a separate hard drive? That is a ridiculous amount of storage to eat up for 1 program.
I'm pretty sure you can adjust reverb, compression, and EQ per pad. That's what other reviews claim.
I have not figured it out. If you have a reference from others, I would like to see it.
Why don't you buy a reverb guitar pedal plug the snare or whatever into the reverb pedal then have the other end run to your module you will need two cables and essentially I would think you would only have reverb on that drum
And having compression on the whole kit isn't a bad idea keeps everything tight ! I throw compression on my kit and makes it sound more realistic and also I use reverb and delay for my cymbals which can make them sustain and sound like real cymbals. Good videos dude!
Arizona, I never taken my drums outside unless it’s a covered venue.
Arizona sweat dripping down your jimmy sack!
You're lucky, the shade doesn't work in Texas. No escape from the death grip of humidity / skeeters
It’s held up for 1 year… but how often do you play it?Weekly, daily? … Just wondering coz I’m thinking about getting one myself…
daily
@@PeterGoesINya awesome! Dying to hear that Panthera kit! ;)
64 audio is superior in ear
There's like this really weird dichotomy between Alesis owners and Roland owners. Alesis, by far has a better module with the strike Pro. It's almost as if the Alesis customers are pissed they can't afford a Roland kit. (Very durable, sturdy construction, And the Roland customers are pissed that the Alesis people are getting a better module (way cooler more realistic sounds IMO) for like $3,000 less lol. Just my take on it. I've had Roland and I've have currently the strike pro se. I had the Roland td6 this Alesis strike Pro se was probably the best musical purchase I've ever made.. just want to swap out this PDP double pedal for a DW 5000 or even a 3000. Anyone have any experience with direct drive pedals I'm really looking into those
Why do you use plastic sides of the beaters?
To protect the drum head from premature wear
Felt is terrible on mesh, it eats it up
What part of Texas are you?
The most annoying and liberal city there is in TX. The town that makes you wanna punch yourself in the D*ck for deciding to move here many years ago!
@@PeterGoesINya My condolences. Austin used to be great as you are no doubt well aware. Imagine the type of monkey bird brain you have to own, to be forced to flee your liberal state for a red state due to all the liberal policies making it hard to live, then you move there and vote for the same type of politicians that forced you to flee in the first place. Brain dead locusts; You truly can't fix stupid. I'm in Dallas which isn't much better, but it's still better.
Where are your covers mate? I'd like to see this baby in action
took off all my covers because you don't make any money playing covers on YT
@@PeterGoesINya that's a shame. You could upload them to a separate channel just to have them there without having to worry about strikes on your main
yea I could but I don't have the time to be honest and have nothing to prove.
@@PeterGoesINya it's not about proving anything, I'd just like to listen to them lol
Again don't have time for it and could care less about them - no money to be made. Go listen to someone else's crappy cover channel. Plenty to pick from!
Your china issue seems like a soldering joint gone bad to me. After some vibration it loses contact and suddenly the anti cross-talk system in the brain doesn't detect the primary impact and you trigger the ride that's right next to it
So would you recommend opening up the cymbal and checking the solder points to make sure?
@@PeterGoesINya it depends how easy it is to take it apart, I don't have access to mine rn
I had the KZ 10's and thought they sounded horribly tinny and piercing and hollow. I could not understand why they get such good reviews on Amazon. I sent mine back. I much prefer over the ear full set of headphones.
opinions are like butt holes, everyones got one!
Electronics do not do well in the heat.
Would you reccomend pulling the module into the ac to avoid permanent damage?
@@PeterGoesINya What is the temp in the garage?
its a basic hot garage in dead of summer which is common...probably with humidity over 100. Nothing crazy.
I turned off at the derogatory comment about hippies
Oh no a user called "tronlady" got butthurt! Take a shower hippie and clean up your act!
Not worth watching
Most likely what women think to themselves when you pass them out at a bar.
Not worth it for YOU……mmmk your opinion wasn’t even worth making a comment….you could have just moved on
