We moved a little over a year ago and I haven't been able to find my GOOD scissors. Well......I was going through a box the other day and low and behold---there was my good sewing scissors!!! So glad I found them.....
Lol I'm with you there. I end up with the knots and bunches of thread everywhere and can never get my tension right. I think my sewing machine doesn't like me!
Thanks for sharing the making of your lovely journal covers. When I see you working away with your sewing machine and talking to it, I feel I should try to make friends with mine again. Thanks Gayle.🇨🇦
Gayle, I just want you to know what a wonderful person and your channel has meant to me, a lot. In this world we will have trouble, you and your channel are my go to when I need a friend. I have learned so very much from your shows. I have made my family all a journals with your help thank you.
How fun watching you make journal covers! So pretty! I especially love the quilted one! It reminds me of the depression quilts my Mom and Great Grandmother made tother from their old dresses and curtains during the depression. I cherish them so much! Love it sis! Great job!!! 🤗💖🤗
So lovely Gayle! My current project is making sewing journals and using old quilts as covers. I have always collected them too, in fact when our daughter and son-in-law had their barn wedding several years ago, I had enough quilts to cover straw bales for seating! It was beautiful.🥰🧵🪡
I also understand how hard it is to not see your sweet little Bucky. We haven’t seen 2 of our grandchildren in over a year. :( Praying things will turn around this year.🙏❤️🇨🇦
Yummy yummy yummy I got love in my tummy! Those fabrics are so scrumptious! Love these covers. My children always knew not to use the scissors that had the ribbon on them because those were mom’s fabric scissors. If you used those you might be grounded for life!
I like how you did the cover Gayle, the envelope gives it some support which I like, I’m gonna try that next time, Right now I’m doing one with a soft spine, Gee! Never enough hours in the day is there! 🤪 Thanks Gayle you always teach me something new every time I watch! Hugs. Maggie. ❤️🤗🇨🇦❤️
Hello Gayle! Wow these are fabulous covers and yes I love mass making as well because once I drag stuff out I just want to keep going. I enjoyed watching your process and keeping talking to your sewing machine it does help. Lol! Take care!
Hi Gayle ... This video played.. and .. I love your nails.😉.... and this video is a keeper .. making covers is my least favourite thing.. ..you always make it look so easy... my favorite thing about making journals is the shopping... so I'll have "more to choose from " wish me luck for when I try this one out for the first time ! 💜
Thank you for another AMAZING feature of my fabrics!! My sister Jennifer and I get all giddy when you share them or the stencils! It's such a treat to watch you create with them. I LOVE what you've been making, those covers rock! I hope the new year brings you much peace and comfort. You bring so much delight to the lives of others, you deserve only the best.
Thank you so much, Cathe! Wishing you and yours a Happy New Year! 🎉❤️. Big hugs to you and Jennifer!! Thanks so much for sharing your incredible talent with all of us! 🥰❤️
Watching you Gayle is never like watching paint to dry. your vids are always so informative and I love watching your channel. You brighten up my day, hugs xxxx
Ohhh Gayle... I could watch you craft all day lol!!! But it really doesn’t help my productivity!!! I LOVE the new covers you made and the ones you have planned and I cannot wait to see them transform into beautifully created journals!!! Thank you so much for always sharing your craft!!! Big hugs, Sharon 🌷💕
I’m late to the party but Gayle - these are scrumptious covers. And I wanted to know how so here you are. You get such beautiful fabrics. I tried to get the Cathy Holden here in the U.K. but the price was prohibitive and there no selection. I will have another. Look though as they are gorgeous. And the upholstery fabric was beautiful. I love listening to you. Such joy, such fun. Much love from England 🥰
I love the quilted covers and now I have a use for the large piece of felt I have that I was given from my husband... I will just use it as batting in a cover under some cotton fabric I have. Galye, thank you for th inspiration and ideas. Have a wonderful day... I just wish we were not in lock down so I could go to the fabric store but I will have to make due with what I have on hand. :)
Boy that material is all so pretty Gayle! I’ve loved watching you make these covers. The sound reminded me of my Gramma’s home. She was a prize quilted and won many, many first place ribbons at the old craft fairs in her town. I haven’t been a sewer but my hubby bought me a machine, so I’ll give it a go. It should bring some wild laughter from the both of us into our home 😂
Hey Gail. Its been a whilecsincevive watched. I"ve been busy with other crafts. This journal is beautiful. I lovecworking with upholstery fabrice for my fabric covers. Your little machine is a Siniger. Its a good machine. Preforms well with these thicker fabrics.
Gayle, this is a great video. Thank you for giving us so much of your time. I’m a new journal maker and I’m finding myself binging all of your past videos. ❤❤❤
Love all these covers, Gayle. The tapestry type fabric is just lovely. And I love old quilts, so just love the quilt made into a cover. Can't wait to see you use these! Hugs! Sue
I just love this way of building your covers! So much easier than what I have been doing all this time hahaha! Thanks for sharing. You are such a beautiful soul.
Love all your fabric covers you showed here!! The 2nd to last one is really quite nice....looks like a cross stitch piece!! The last one is my favorite though as it has most of the colors I love!! Can't wait to see these completed!! Great video Gayle!! TFS!! Hugs, Liz:)
GdA! I love making journal covers too!! Envelopes are my favorites but, I'm really starting to enjoy the readers digest books! Love watching you! Have a wonderful, safe, healthy and blessed week! Peace & Blessings!
Good morning my friend. Your timing is often perfect. I need to make a few covers and though I’ve seen this just, trouser times, having it come along at the right time is great! 🤗😁💕
Hi Gayle! This is my second or third time watching this video, but I guess I never read the comments or commented before. Now I have learned to read the comments, and I comment myself also. This was a great tutorial on making this type of journal cover. You make it seem as if it is easy to do! I love your fabric covers, and the fabrics in this video are gorgeous! I look forward to seeing these covers become completed journals in the future! Thank you very much for making this video! When I make my first journal I will use one of your "Gayle's way" techniques for the fabric cover! TFS Hugs, Samantha
LOvely! I love antique quilts! I just got a new one for Christmas from an amazing friend of mine..I can't cut it up so it is going on my bed...so beautiful! xo tfs!
All these covers turned out beautiful!! You've inspired me to go thru my quilt collection and see what I might be able to use. I too have collected quilts for too many years to count! 😂 When we moved I ordered a bunch of archival acid free boxes and acid free tissue paper to pack up my quilts. So funny, my daughter asked this weekend what I was going to do with them. She let me store them in her house and I think she wants her closet space back!! Thanks Gayle for showing how you make these covers. You always make it look so easy!! 💜
Always enjoy watching your cover videos! Love how you just boldly cut into your fabrics 💜 I always am afraid I’ll make a mistake... Happy & Blessed New Year!
you can straighten fabric to get the long grain perpendicular to the selvage by tugging on the correct bias and laying it out to check if that did it. A little more tugging might be necessary. This really helpful if the print has right angle design.🦌💌❤️📚
That material is beautiful and that journal is going to just turn out beautiful and I want to tell you you've got to get yourself some scissor sharpeners save you a lot of headaches anyway you have a good night thank you for letting us watch
Hi! I was holding my breath when you sewed through the two thicknesses 😁, so so pretty, that upholstery is gorgeous, so is the quilt one! More fabulous journals to come.... Have a nice day!
Have you thought about using a rotary cutter & a ruler to cut your fabric. You already have the right cutting mat. Cutting would be quicker & always straight. FYI. It is such beautiful fabric
Made my first fabric journal cover last week. Watched your video and one from Artymaze. Such a great help. I did fabric on the outside and Tim Holtz paper on the inside using a Cheese It’s box as the base. Certainly a learning experience. TFS
Was so glad to see your fabric cover process. It is basically how I do mine so this was good affirmation. I haven't tried the padding yet so I am excited to try that. Thanks for sharing!♥️
Thank you for this Gayle! Just in time as I will be attempting my first fabric cover and I was scared! You make it look easy and now I feel confident I can do it! I LOVE that Cathe Holden fabric! I have been scouring sites in Canada trying to find some now. Sold out on all the sites I have found so far...will just keeping on looking!
Sorry I haven't commented for awhile - my father passed away over the holidays - my parents home is about 1 and a half hours away from me and they have no internet - missed everyone - love your new covers - Hugs.
This a great idea, I just love it! I’ve made several journal covers with file folders, but it’s nice to have another option. The fabric is so cool, I’m going to check out the website. I talk to and encourage my machine too 😉 😊
Beautiful covers! Seeing you use those makes me want to dig through my stash and get moving on a new book. I've been stalled a bit about making books but I think this video was the kick I needed! Thanks, Gayle. :) Ok, so you collect old quilts. I've heard about your clowns. And we all know about the bunnies. How many collections have you got, dear lady? :)
Thank you Gayle so much. If you slow stitch your cover, do you have batting under before you slow stitch? Or just slow stitch then add batting? Just love your videos. I'm just starting to do soft journal covers. Trying to learn new techniques. Learn a lot from you.
We moved a little over a year ago and I haven't been able to find my GOOD scissors. Well......I was going through a box the other day and low and behold---there was my good sewing scissors!!! So glad I found them.....
I like to see you sew. It's so calm .. When I sew is like the movie Fast and furious
