  • Anti-depressants can be used as a medication to treat pain, particularly in chronic cases, but patients frequently stop and say "I'm not depressed." In this video, some of the team at Bloor Pain Specialists (Dr. Visnjevac, Dr. Yao & Dr. Van Oostrom) explain when and how anti-depressants are prescribed to treat pain and why they would still be used if the patient doesn't have depression.

I need a place to vent.. I have clear issues with my back confirmed on mri and xray, that cause me chronic pain, three bulging discs and discs slipping forward. I don’t take pain medication I don’t believe anti depressants will help me with the pain because I can’t bend forward with any weight. This makes me not able to complete many task and exhausted after I try. Doctors won’t help, I’ve done physical therapy, I believe only surgery will help when nerves are constantly being irritated. This has been going on for over 10 years and more depressed that I can’t find help in any direction. I’m in Michigan on Medicaid I can’t work and denied social security, I want my back better so I can work! If anyone happens to read this I am open to suggestions for help in Michigan.
