    Mav, if you intend to keep the truck over another winter, I’d advise keeping that truck bed liner instead of disposing of it. Spray it with foam insulation to fill in the grooves. Then lay down some rigid foam , topping it off with 1/4” wood of some sort on the floor and walls. Screw that wood to the ridges with coarse screws. This will add much needed R-value to the interior. After I insulated the van (lil 2017 Ram promaster city) It saved soooooooo much time and fuel to heat the van and keep it heated. Plus it makes a great base for build out.

    I’ve actually found car camping in the cold far preferable to in the heat. I think this summer you need a series of camping in the heat and ways to stay cool! I’ve always got my golden retriever with me and his long furred self for sure prefers to be a bit chilly. We’ve traveled around the southern U.S. out of my suv over the last few months just adventuring and filming but with it being still kinda winter haven’t actually dealt with too much heat because it tends to cool down at night. Keep on trucking!

    For insulation, if you go to a carpet store and beg for their samples, those sample squares have a rubber backing on them that makes a great insulator. I used them in the Air Force to insulate the wooden floors of my tent, when deployed to cold environments.

    • @NAldrighetti
      @NAldrighetti 2 роки тому

      I made the mistake of getting carpet with plastic liner on the back (not thinking) and it's honestly one of the biggest issues I've had in my van Build. Horrible thermal properties. If not for my dog I would have tossed the carpet weeks ago when the weather turned cold, but the old guy needs a soft surface for grip. Already lined up a replacement carpet with foam-rubber backing if I decide to redo the floor.

    An idea for the interior - If you could make some kind of shelf that would clamp onto the top of the truck bed rail/bottom of the camper shell (where the two meet) it would be nearly the same height as those two boxes. You could have it hinged, potentially with a flip down leg or two for stability, but it would give you the ability to bring a shelf down when you need to cook/clean/do whatever but fold it back out of the way for easier entry and exit.

    • @clintonlied

    It’s a game changer to have separate sleeping and a cabinet with counter tops side with a space to sit and put your feet down. I built my bed side at 30 and just to top of wheel well with 3 drawers and the other side at 18” deep 21” high cabinet and extended my counter top from the wall of the cap across the cabinet leaving a small overhang. I can store everything I need to camp and its out of the way with easy access. I have a leer 122 taller cap which is very comfortable, lots of head room. Too bad we cant post pics here so you can see the set up.

    VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING MY FRIEND! The fact that you had a mouse come in, tells me that you had plenty of fresh air ventilation! And your first idea may be to seal your truck back up completely, but always remember, the reason why campers are built with an upper vent and an intake vent, is to prevent carbon dioxide poisoning! And also, lack of oxygen, With catalytic type heaters.Important Message to everyone! Always make sure you have plenty of ventilation, with a screen to keep your oxygen margins safe, and rodents/snakes/bugs out!!!

And maybe a hinged drop down side to your cot that you can flip up to widen the cot when its time for sleeping? It definitely looked more comfortable being able to sit with your feet down and easier to cook when you are inside

The truck frame is where all the wires and cable are run.

    Just finished eating my ramen. Heat water with seasoning, when boils - add noodles, when they are done, scoop out with chopsticks, then add egg and veggies and meat to the boiling seasoned water. Few minutes, pour over noodles. Soooo good and in less time than yours.😊🥰 How did you get a mouse in your car, how did it get in?

    FYI, being 1/2 Asian (mom is Japanese) an Leaving home i like most ate tons of Raman noodles. Now being old and had 6 bypasses which two of the main arteries were 100 percent blocked an the other 4 were 90% blocked i should have not made it through recovery but God had other plans for me. So back to the Raman noodles season pak, throw it away. I use non sodium vegetable stock and an add low sodium Kikoman soy sauce for some Asian zing an some green onion. An if u have an Asian market an see if they have Dashi add to taste for a hint of fish flavor. Awesome in cold weather but I eat it all the time to remember how much I miss MOM. Enjoy 👍my take u a few tries to get it to your liking but I've watched u for some time and see u r a creative cook. I do keep Raman noodles by the case, just don't use the seasonal pack ever.

    That motor is going to be SWEET on your boat! Are we going to see any Mav water skiing videos in the future? Just make sure you have a driver and a spotter. My Dad's friend almost crashed our boat onto shore one time. She was the driver, I was the spotter, my Dad the skier, but she decided to watch him instead of looking where she was going. Can't believe you got another critter friend in your truck. Hope there are no more. Looking forward to seeing how you convert it this time. For beef and chicken bouillon, check the Hispanic section of the grocery store. Our store has certain spices in that section that also includes little boxes of beef and chicken bouillon. You don’t have to buy a ton for just one meal. It’s only like 4 cubes per pack. Idk if every store is that way but our local store is.

    Hey Mav! I’m loving the videos and cant to see what you come with for your new setup.
    You said you like to have leg room but also a wider bed. My suggested idea would be to have a bed that folds. One half could fold upwards latching to a hook or something while the other half could be used at a chair. It’s a tricky explanation
